Objective: To correlate the results of ultrasound liver elastography in patients with steatosis with the results of liver function tests. Material and methods: A prospective study was conducted including patients with steatosis and liver function tests of at least 3 previous months in a period of 1 year who attended an abdominal ultrasound, obtaining at least 6 measurements with a LogicTM E9 ultrasound equipment, featuring shear-wave elastography with good quality measurements. Pearson or Spearman correlations were made according to the normality of the variables. Results: The elastography values show a slight correlation with aspartate transaminase (GOT) (r: 0.641; p = 0.001), alanine transaminase (GPT) (r: 0.441; p = 0.001) and a strong correlation with triglycerides (r: 0.859; p = 0.001). Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that there is a correlation between liver function tests and elastography levels, specifically with GOT, GPT, and triglycerides. Elastography gives us results that correlate with laboratory markers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
