Homosexuality has been a taboo in several parts of the world and continues to be so despite the vast changes that have revolutionized the lives of LGBTQIA+ community. But the question is, was it always a taboo? Were the classical societies ignorant of homosexuality? Or were they so accepting of it? Did they recognize and classify different sexual orientations? What was love between two individuals of the same gender like? This paper attempts to explore the nuances of homosexuality in ancient Greece with reference to Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles. With the theoretical framework of Foucault’s theory of sexuality, it aims to dissect the factors of homosexuality in ancient Greece, their ways of perceiving it, along with the character analysis of the protagonists in terms of masculinity and femininity. Understanding the notions of the fluid nature of gender and sexuality through retellings of classics like The Song of Achilles diversifies the readers’ relationship to literatures in being sensitive to queer community today.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that about 80% of the world’s population depends primarily on traditional medicine.[1] Ayurveda is the science of life, which aims at building a healthy body with a sound mind. During the past few decades, and in recent Covid-19 Pandaemic situations traditional systems of medicines have become a topic of global importance. The number of emerging multidrug-resistant microbial strains is continuously increasing and has become one of the most serious threats to the successful treatment of infectious diseases. In this study, the antibacterial potentials of the extracts of water, Petroleum ether, methanol & Chloroform of Brassica juncea & Brassica alba seeds were tested against mentioned pyogenic bacteria. Given reports of Brassica species in the treatment of various infections since the Vedic period & Ayurveda, the seed oil had been investigated for its anti-microbial activity by several research workers. Some herbs from Rakshoghna Gana [2] were screened for their in vitro anti-microbial activity on E.Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus. Hence as a part of further research, Brassicajuncea and Brassica alba various extracts and crude oils were evaluated for antibacterial activity against pyogenic bacteria Streptococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus and E.Coli by Agar Cup Dilution Technique against standard chemotherapeutic agents, by using 12 antibiotics, sensitivity discs. In vitro study revealed out that crude oil of Brassica juncea and Brassica alba is not potent as standard antimicrobial agents, but water extract and methanol extract possess significant antimicrobial activity in Vitro. Both the extract possesses antimicrobial activity against all 3 pyogenic bacteria and potent as standard 12 antimicrobial drugs. The extracts showed a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, inhibition zones of bacteria strains ranged from 3-12 mm for Staphylococcus aureus,3-15mm for Streptococcus pyrogens 5-12mm for E. coli. The result of the study supports the immense medicinal properties of Brassica juncea which has revealed a significant scope to develop a novel broad spectrum of antibacterial herbal formulation. Again Brassica alba was found superior in antibacterial action as compared to Brassica juncea as its mention in Ayurved Lexicon Bhavprakash Nighantu,[3,4] results substantiate the same. This is further open for re- search workers to carry out further research work on this project and to see the phagocytic action of the drug, fix the dose of the drug, fractionization of water and methanol extracts by HPTLC separation of active principle as further drug development. Introduction Surgical site infection (SSI) is the most common and costly complication of surgery. International guidelines recommend topical alcoholic chlorhexidine (CHX) before surgery. However, upper limb surgeons continue to use other antiseptics, citing a lack of applicable evidence, and concerns related to open wounds and tourniquets. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of different topical antiseptics before upper limb surgery. Methods This international multicentre prospective cohort study recruited consecutive adults and children who underwent surgery distal to the shoulder joint. The intervention was use of CHX or povidone–iodine (PVI) antiseptics in either aqueous or alcoholic form. The primary outcome was SSI within 90 days. Mixed-effects time-to-event models were used to estimate the risk (hazard ratio (HR)) of SSI for patients undergoing elective and emergency upper limb surgery. Results A total of 2454 patients were included. The overall risk of SSI was 3.5 per cent. For elective upper limb surgery (1018 patients), alcoholic CHX appeared to be the most effective antiseptic, reducing the risk of SSI by 70 per cent (adjusted HR 0.30, 95 per cent c.i. 0.11 to 0.84), when compared with aqueous PVI. Concerning emergency upper limb surgery (1436 patients), aqueous PVI appeared to be the least effective antiseptic for preventing SSI; however, there was uncertainty in the estimates. No adverse events were reported. Conclusion The findings align with the global evidence base and international guidance, suggesting that alcoholic CHX should be used for skin antisepsis before clean (elective upper limb) surgery. For emergency (contaminated or dirty) upper limb surgery, the findings of this study were unclear and contradict the available evidence, concluding that further research is necessary., This international study recruited 2454 children and adults undergoing surgery on their upper limb (arm or hand), from 42 hospitals worldwide. The overall risk of infection after surgery was 3.5 per cent. Before planned (elective) surgery, if surgeons cleaned the skin with alcoholic chlorhexidine, then the risk of infection was reduced by 70 per cent.

Phosphorus (P) is one of the macro nutrients essential for plant growth and development. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is sensitive to P starvation and its deficiency influences many key plant functions which results in crop yield penalty. Although the hybrid rice segment is well-known for its yield heterosis, P deficiency and bacterial leaf blight (BLB) diseases are the evident limitations. APMS6B, the female parent of DRRH-3 is susceptible to low P and bacterial blight disease. In the present study, the improvement of APMS6B to P starvation and resistance to bacterial leaf blight (BB) was carried out using marker-assisted backcross breeding (MABB) approach. Kasalath (+ Pup1 QTL) was used as donor and a promising IL (ATR 594-1) at BC1 F4 generation was identified with 81.15% RPGR. Concurrently, this IL was intercrossed with GU-2 (+ Xa21 and Xa38 ). Hybridity of Intercross F1s (ICF1) was confirmed through foreground selection having maximum RPGR (88.29%) and were selfed to produce ICF2. The resultant progenies were phenotyped for BB using Xoo inoculum (IX-020), simultaneously genotyped with gene specific functional SSR markers for Xa21 and Xa38. The identified BB resistant plants were subjected to foreground selection for Pup1. Four promising ICF3 plants (BP-10-1, BP-10-3, BP-10-5 and BP-10-15 with Xa21, Xa38 and Pup1) along with parents and checks were screened both in low P plot (2O5 ha-1 ) as well as in normal plot (>25 kg P2O5 ha-1) during dry and wet seasons 2018. Based on the field evaluation, four promising intercrossed lines were identified with better root architecture in terms of root length and root volume. The Indian health care system is typical in nature and the Government has invested in building a strong public healthcare infrastructure. The pivotal role is played by the evolution of foremost non-public sector facilities created by the Government as healthcare emerges as the priority sector of the Government of India. However, with a population of virtually 1.35 Billion, with a majority living within the rural hinterlands, there is a scope to enhance the healthcare facilities to improve the health of individuals. It is noteworthy to mention that approximately about 70 per cent of the disbursal on health expenditure is borne by the individual, a steep value that pushes several families into debt. The recently proclaimed “Ayushman Bharat” scheme in India, that will cowl a minimum of 40 per cent of the population, envisages a holistic approach. It seeks to deal with the inherent issues of accessibility and affordability and supply an all-around answer to healthcare needs for the masses. The bottom line of the scheme entails enhancing accessibility, and providing cost- effective insurance to the people at the bottom of pyramid. It leverages the strengths of the general public sector and private players to redefine the health care delivery system. A perfect auction policy is one of the most strategic elements that contribute to success factor for any e-Procurement system. An auction policy can be only term as an effective if it really offer win-win situation to both the bidder as well as to the merchant. After reviewing existing studies on e-Procurement system, it is found that there is no effective research work focusing on this point and maximum research contribution has limited its scope to certain application or case studies. Hence, the proposed system introduces a novel e Procurement system which is equipped by an intelligence-building process for performing predictive analysis of ongoing auction process. A mathematical modelling is implemented where all the variables have been formed using practical implementation of auction system and followed by optimization process using regression-based approach. The study outcome shows that proposed system offers better response time and higher predictive accuracy in contrast to existing approaches.

URPOSE THIS paper aims to examine influences of store attributes as well as product attributes on store patronage behaviour of selected shoppers who were conveniently drawn from amongst selected shopping malls located in the Baroda City of the Gujarat State, India. Design/Methodology/Approach: This empirical research study based on primary data collected through structured questionnaire using descriptive research design to identify and evaluate crucial dimensions that were considered by selected retail stores that influences the shoppers’ to patronize a particular store and to study the impacts of store attributes as well as product attributes on store patronage behaviour of 200 shoppers who were asked to Rank the preferences for retail formats and attributes/features of store and product which have influenced shoppers’’ preference to shop from the given emerging retail formats. Key Findings: The research study implies that for buying Shopping Goods theshopping malls and specialty stores are strongly preferred by shoppers of Vadodara City whereas the other formats such as viz., convenience stores, department store, hypermarkets/ supermarkets and discount store are preferred for buying Convenience Goods.The overall satisfaction with product attributes in shopping mall is influenced by refund/replacement facilities followed by affordable price attractive packaging andwide range of brands and the overall satisfaction with store attributes in shopping mall is influenced by trained and caring sales staff followed by good location, adequate parking facility in the store and pleasing ambience of the store. Research Limitations: Conclusions are drawn on the basis of a specific choice for a particular retail format.Though; this study has presented important and useful contributions in the measurement of overall reported experienced satisfaction of shoppers in selected malls, due care need to be exercised while making use of its findings in varying format of retailing. Practical Implications: The overall satisfaction in shopping mall is influenced by shopping environment and shopping with entertainment experienced by shoppers in a given store.
