Abstract

We report the structural, magnetic, exchange bias and magnetotransport effect in Sr$_{4}$Fe$_{3}$CoO$_{11}$. The material crystallizes in the orthorhombic $\textit{Cmmm}$ space group. It shows antiferromagnetic (G-type) transition (T$_{N}$ = 255 K) along with interesting temperature induced magnetization reversal (T$_{Comp.}$= 47 K measured at 100 Oe). The magnetic reversal can be elucidated considering the increased magnetocrystalline anisotropy with Co substitution. Magnetoresistance measurements shows an interesting crossover from negative to positive side at $\sim$ 100 K. The negative magnetoresistance reaches 80 $\%$ at 25 K in 7 T magnetic field. Giant exchange bias effect is observed below T$_{N}$ under field cooling condition. The origin of the negative magnetoresistance and giant exchange bias in this sample can be attributed to the magnetic frustration., Comment: 6 Pages, 7 figures

Abstract

Current technologies designed for mental health support often have low adoption rates and may not fit people's routines. However, recent literature demonstrates that individuals managing mental illness often incorporate a variety of technologies into their self-management routines, including texting, music, wearables, online communities, games, and social media. Therefore, adopting a perspective focused on understanding the technology ecosystem of mental health management may be a better approach than focusing on singular platforms and applications. In this CHI workshop, we will examine a constellation of digital and non-digital mental health support resources. We will discuss the needs and practices of individuals managing mental illness, how these needs relate to future ecosystems of technologies and services, and the potentials and repercussions of current technologies. By convening a group of interdisciplinary researchers and practitioners, we will collectively address these topics to create resources attentive to individuals' lived experiences with mental illness, goals with respect to management and recovery, and interactions with existing forms of resources, care, and technology.

Abstract

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV-1 has dramatically improved outcomes for people living with HIV-1 but requires life-long adherence and can be associated with short and long-term toxicity. Numerous pre-clinical and clinical investigations are underway to develop therapies for immune control of HIV-1 in the absence of ART. The success of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) cell therapy for hematological malignancy has renewed efforts to develop and investigate CAR cells as strategies to enhance HIV-1 immunity, enable virus control or elimination, and allow ART-free HIV-1 remission. Here, we review the improvements in anti-HIV-1 CAR cell therapy in the two decades since their initial clinical trials were conducted, describe the additional engineering required to protect CAR cells from HIV-1 infection, and preview the current landscape of CAR cell therapies advancing to HIV-1 clinical trials.

Abstract

Aim The study investigated Ethion-induced developmental toxicity in Wistar albino rats and the potential ameliorative effects of quercetin and nano-quercetin co-administration. Further, In-silico docking of Ethion and quercetin with MCL-1 was conducted. Methodology Quercetin nanoparticles were synthesized by ionic-gelation method. The encapsulated quercetin nanoparticles were characterized for Zeta size, UV-Vis spectroscopy, encapsulation efficiency, and TEM studies. Male rats were administered Ethion (high/low dose), quercetin, and nano-quercetin alone or in combination for 60 days. Female rats were introduced for mating on the 61st day, and pregnant females were observed for 20 gestational days. On GD 20, rats were sacrificed and evaluated for body/organ weight, reproductive indices, fetal morphology, skeletal, and visceral deformities.In silico binding energies of ethion and quercetin with MCL-1 were determined. Results Nanoparticle size was 363.2 ± 1.23 nm on day 0 and 385.63 ± 1.53 nm on day 60, with PDI of 0.247 and charge of 22.9 mV. Absorbance maxima were at 374 nm, with encapsulation efficacy of 85.16 ± 0.33%. EHD male crossed females showed decreased body/organ weights, reduced fertility, hematoma, cleft palate, tail curling, and absence of extremity. Nano-quercetin co-administration normalized parameters comparable to controls. Both Ethion and quercetin interacted with MCL-1, with quercetin exhibiting stronger binding energy. Conclusion Nano-quercetin demonstrated stronger antioxidant properties than quercetin, counteracting ethion-induced maternal/fetal abnormalities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The study was performed to understand the detailed mechanism of diabetic wound healing by bilirubin-deferoxamine (DFO) combination on topical application.There were two study groups, control, and treatment. The granulation tissues collected on different days (3, 7, 14, and 19) were studied in detail for inflammatory mediators, angiogenesis markers, epithelialization, and oxidative stress parameters.A significant increase in wound contraction percentage was observed from day 7 in the bilirubin-DFO treatment group. The combinatorial treatment significantly reduced tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and enhanced IL-10 levels. Upregulated mRNAs of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1 α) along with CD31 immunohistochemistry showed the pro-angiogenesis potential of the combination. Hematoxylin and Eosin (H and E) staining and Masson's trichrome staining showed reduced inflammatory cell infiltration, enhanced fibroblast proliferation, well-organized collagen fibers, and the development of new blood vessels. Collagen deposition is further supported by immunohistochemistry studies and Masson's trichrome staining. Bilirubin-DFO combination also reduced lipid peroxidation and elevated antioxidative enzymes.Topical application of bilirubin-DFO showed immense potential in augmenting skin wound regeneration in diabetes by upregulating the antioxidant status as well as increasing angiogenesis, collagen deposition, and modulating cytokines.
