Abstract

Objective: To evaluate RV longitudinal function in pulmonary hypertension (PH) patients by Two-dimensional strain (2DS). Method: 41 patients with PH were prospectively studied along with 40 control patients. RV 2DS and right heart catheterization were performed, peak systolic longitudinal strain(S) and strain rate (SRs) obtained from basal to apical RV free wall were calculated. RV Deformation indices were compared with values of conventional echocardiography and right heart catheterization with the use of linear regression. Result: (1) S, SRs of all RV free wall segments in PH group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P <0.05); S, SRs of the middle and apical segment in PH group were significantly lower than basal segment (P <0.05). (2) SRs of RV apical and middle segment in PH group correlated well with RV size and diameter. Also, S of RV apical segment correlated well with Conventional echocardiography measurement of RV size and systolic function. (3) S, SRs of the apical segment in PH group correlated well with right heart catheterization measurement of pulmonary artery pressure, pulmonary vascular resistance and stroke volume. Conclusion: The right ventricular longitudinal systolic function can be evaluated accurately and objectively by Two-dimensional strain Echocardiography.

13. P109Predictive role of erectile dysfunction in the development of coronary heart disease in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to identify features of the lipid profile in patients with erectile dysfunction and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Method: A total of 51 men (37 - with erectile dysfunction and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome - 1st group, 14 - healthy men - 2nd group) aged 46-55 years. Study of lipid profile was performed using an automatic analyzer BTC-330 (PZ CORMAY SA, Poland). Statistical data processing was carried out using «Statistica for Windows» 6.0 (StatSoft, USA). All differences were considered significant at p <0,05. Result: Significant changes in lipid profile were detected in all patients 1st group compared with Сontrol (2nd group). Thus, the level of total cholesterol in the 1st group was 5,56 ± 0,98 mmol/l versus 4,34 ± 0,75 mmol/l in Control (p <0,05); level of high-density lipoproteins was significantly lower than in Control - 0,79 ± 0,33 mmol/l versus 1,3 ± 0,3 mmol/l, accordingly (p <0,05), meanwhile, as the level of low-density lipoproteins in patients 1st group reached 3,68 ± 0,93 mmol/l, compared to 2,96 ± 0,74 mmol/l in the 2nd group (p <0,05). The content of triglycerides in the blood serum of patients in both groups were not significantly different - 1,93 ± 0,37 mmol/l versus 0,85 ± 0,31 mmol/l (p > 0,05). The atherogenic coefficient in the 1st group is 2,6 times higher than the corresponding value in the 2nd group, and amounted to 6,03 ± 1,2 mmol/l and 2,33 ± 0,2 mmol/l, accordingly (p < 0,05). Conclusion: Ischemic etiology of erectile dysfunction in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, suggesting its role as an early precursor of coronary heart disease, a significant risk factor which is a violation of the profile of lipoproteins.
