Introduction: Acute stroke interventions, such as stroke units and reperfusion therapy, have the potential to improve outcomes. However, there are many disparities in patient characteristics and access to the best stroke care. Thus, we aim to compare patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) after stroke in two stroke centers representing the public and private healthcare systems in Brazil., Methods: PROMs through the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measures (ICHOM) were assessed at 90 days after the stroke to compare two Brazilian hospitals in southern Brazil: a public university and a private stroke center, both with stroke protocols and stroke units., Results: When compared with the private setting ( n = 165), patients from the public hospital ( n = 175) were younger, had poorer control of risk factors, had more frequent previous strokes, and arrived with more severe strokes. Both hospitals had a similar percentage of IV thrombolysis treatment. Only 5 patients received mechanical thrombectomy (MT), all in the private hospital. Public hospital patients presented significantly worse outcomes at 3 months, including worse quality of life and functional dependence (60 vs. 48%, p = 0.03). Poor outcome, as measured by the mRS score, was significantly associated with older age, higher NIHSS score, and the presence of heart failure. Purpose: To identify the impact of urinary incontinence (UI) on quality of life (QoL), to compare the scores of QoL domains in women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI), overactive bladder (OAB) and mixed incontinence (MUI) and to establish the association between the clinical type of UI and the impact on QoL., Methods: Data of 181 incontinent women attended at a public hospital were collected regarding age, body mass index (BMI) and co-morbidities. King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ) was applied and patients were classified into two groups according to the self-assessment of incontinence impact. KHQ scores were compared by the Mann-Whitney test. Depending on their urinary symptoms, women were divided into SUI, OAB and MUI groups and their scores in the KHQ domains were compared by the Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn tests. The odds ratio (OR) of a woman reporting a worse effect of UI on QoL was estimated using the binary logistic model. The control variables were: age, BMI and number of co-morbidities., Results: A significant difference was found between the two groups of self-assessment of UI impact for all KHQ domains. The MUI group showed worse scores than the SUI group for all domains, and OAB group, for limitation of physical and daily activities. There was a significant difference between the odds of the women in the SUI and MUI groups reporting worse effects of UI on QoL (OR=2.9; p=0.02)., Conclusion: As reported at other reference services, MUI was the most commom type, and urinary loss had a moderate/major impact on QoL, affecting mainly role limitations domain. The adjusted analysis showed that women with MUI had almost three times greater odds of reporting worse impact on QoL than women with SUI.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the applicability of Coelho's scale (CS) and to determine its adaptation to the reality observed in the families accompanied in the Maria Rangel Passos health care unit (USFMRP) in the city of Vitória, Espírito Santo State. This is a cross-sectional exploratory, descriptive study developed in the area of health of Greater Maruípe. First, it was made the classification of the families according to CS and the results were presented for a discussion group that proposed changes and possible alterations in CS, being the new tool denominated as "UFES criterium". In order to verify the applicability of that instrument and to accomplish a comparison with the obtained results of the classification for CS, thirty families assisted in USFMRP were randomly selected and visited, including by the HCA. This new scale allowed to identify a larger number of families of minimum risk and to guide the several actions accomplished daily in a health care unit, aiming to define priorities and to reorient the practices exercised by the professionals heading for the consolidation of a more even and integral attendance, centered in the service of the real social needs in health of the families assisted in the extent of the Family Health Strategy (FHS).
