Anthropogenic activities in any natural ecosystem cause changes that affect the physical and biological environment, causing degradation. Likewise, these activities can cause significant changes in the chemical and physical factors of the soil, also impacting the microbiological community. The study aimed to evaluate the influence of soil biochemical and physicochemical characteristics on the development of fungal communities in three different soils of the Pampa biome. The soil types selected were: native forest, Eucalyptus plantation and pasture area, in two distinct periods: hot and cold. Microbiological, physicochemical and biochemical analyses of the soils were carried out. The following genera and species of fungi were identified:Aspergillus sp., Aspergillus niger, Fusarium sp., Geotrichum sp., Isaria sp., Penicillium sp., Scedosporium sp., Trichoderma sp., Verticilliumsp. The results showed that the fungal community is being affected by soil composition characteristics, regardless of the sampled areas. Aspergillus sp. is associated with higher amounts of manganese, boron and the Ca+Mg/K ratio in the soil, while A. niger and Trichodermasp. have a negative relationship with these variables. Aspergillus sp. showed a high ability to tolerate Mn. The most diverse area was pasture in the warm period, and the least diverse was Eucalyptus plantation in the cold period. The analyzed taxa had a reduction in the cold period compared to the warm one, except for Aspergillussp. in the Eucalyptus area, which presented a greater amount in the cold period compared to the hot period. It can be seen that the use of soil in the Pampa biome for planting monocultures or for generating pastures interferes with its characteristics and distinctly affects the fungal community., As atividades antropogênicas em qualquer ecossistema natural causam modificações que afetam o ambiente físico e biológico, gerando degradação. Da mesma forma, essas atividades podem causar modificações significativas nos fatores químicos e físicos do solo, impactando também a comunidade microbiológica. O estudo objetivou avaliar a influência de características bioquímicas e físico-químicas do solo sobre o desenvolvimento de comunidades fúngicas em diferentes solos do bioma Pampa. Os tipos de solo selecionados foram: área de floresta nativa, área de plantação de eucalipto e área de pastagem, em dois períodos distintos: quente e frio. Foram realizadas análises microbiológicas, físico-químicas e bioquímicas dos solos. Identificaram-se os seguintes gêneros e espécie de fungos: Aspergillus sp., Aspergillus niger, Fusarium sp., Geotrichum sp., Isaria sp., Penicillium sp., Scedosporiumsp., Trichoderma sp., Verticillium sp. Os resultados mostraram que a comunidade fúngica está sendo afetada pela composição das características do solo, independentemente das áreas amostradas. Aspergillus sp. está associado a maiores quantidades de manganês, boro e da relação Ca+Mg/K no solo, enquanto A. niger e Trichoderma sp. têm relação negativa com essas variáveis. Aspergillus sp. mostrou elevada capacidade de tolerância ao Mn. A área mais diversa foi a de pastagem no período quente, e a menos diversa foi a área de eucalipto no período frio. Os táxons analisados tiveram redução no período frio em relação ao período quente, com exceção de Aspergillus sp. na área de eucalipto, que apresentou maior quantidade em período frio em relação ao período quente. Pode-se constatar que a utilização do solo no bioma Pampa, para plantação de monoculturas ou para a geração de pastagens, interfere em suas características e afeta distintamente a comunidade fúngica.

In southern Brazil, together with Argentina and Uruguay, is located the Pampa Biome. The fungal diversity present in this place can be affected by soil exploitation, which end up, consequently, influencing other biological communities. The objective of this study was to compare the fungal diversity in different land use areas in the Pampa Biome. For that, soil collections were carried out in the city of Pantano Grande, located in Rio Grande do Sul. Three different land use areas were sampled: native, pasture and forestry areas. Soil fungi were isolated using the decimal dilution technique. Identification occurred through observations of macro and microscopic characteristics. Through statistics methods, the diversity of fungi was analyzed and the fungal community was compared between the sampled areas. A total of 265 individuals distributed in nine taxonomic types were isolated. The three areas had four taxa in common (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillussp., Trichodermasp. and Fusariumsp.), while the areas used for pasture were the only ones to present exclusivity in the presence of a taxon (Verticilliumsp.). With this, it was possible to conclude that the areas used for pasture have the highest fungal biodiversity among the studied areas; however, statistically, the fungal richness between the different types of land use did not present differences., No sul do Brasil, juntamente com a Argentina e o Uruguai, está situado o Bioma Pampa. A diversidade fúngica presente neste local pode ser afetada pelos meios de exploração do solo, que acabam, consequentemente, influenciando as demais comunidades biológicas. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar a comparação da diversidade fúngica em diferentes áreas de utilização do solo do Bioma Pampa. Para tanto, foram realizadas coletas de solos na cidade de Pantano Grande, situada no Rio Grande do Sul. Três diferentes áreas de utilização do solo foram amostradas: área nativa, de pastagem e de silvicultura. Os fungos do solo foram isolados por meio da técnica da diluição decimal. A identificação ocorreu por meio das observações das características macro e microscópicas. Através de métodos estatísticos, analisou-se a diversidade dos fungos e se fez a comparação da comunidade de fungos entre as áreas amostradas. Foram isolados 265 indivíduos distribuídos em nove tipos taxonômicos. As três áreas apresentaram quatro táxons em comum (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillussp., Trichodermasp.e Fusariumsp.), enquanto as áreas utilizadas para a pastagem foram as únicas a apresentar exclusividade na presença de um táxon (Verticilliumsp.). Com isso, pôde-se concluir que o solo das áreas utilizadas para pastagem apresentaa maior biodiversidade fúngica entre as áreas estudadas, entretanto, a riqueza fúngica entre os diferentes tipos de uso do solo não apresentou diferenças.

Medicinal plants synthesize various secondary metabolites that can be used for therapeutic and antimicrobial purposes. In Brazil, the Unified Health System (SUS) offers several herbal medicines as an alternative in the treatment of various diseases. Considering the importance of these plants in the production of chemicals that expand therapeutic options and improve the health of SUS users, this review was carried out to quantitatively determine the antifungal activity of plants used as phytotherapeutics at RENAME. The selection of papers was performed at three distinct stages: examining and choosing titles related to antifungal action, reading the abstracts, and reading the whole selected articles. This review selected 22 studies of interest; 12 of them were conducted in Brazil and 10 were carried out in other countries. The papers chosen tested the growth inhibitory effect of plants against fungal species of agricultural and health importance, ranging from filamentous to yeast-like fungi, and Candida albicans was the most tested species. The growth of 39 fungal species were inhibited by some concentration of the extract used, with either an increase or decrease in antifungal activity depending on the extract used. The most frequently analyzed plant was the species Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi., studied in seven papers. The results found demonstrate the importance of analyzing medicinal plants and incorporating plant-based medicines in healthcare as an alternative source of treatment, highlighting the need for studies that evaluate the mechanisms action of their cytotoxicity and therapeutic effects in the human body., As plantas medicinais produzem uma série de metabólitos secundários que podem ser usados para fins terapêuticos e antimicrobianos. No Brasil, o SUS disponibiliza uma série de medicamentos fitoterápicos como alternativa ao tratamento de diversas enfermidades. Considerando a importância da utilização dessas plantas na produção de medicamentos que ampliem as opções terapêuticas e melhorem a atenção à saúde de usuários do sistema, elaborou-se este estudo de revisão com o objetivo de estimar quantitativamente a atividade antifúngica das plantas utilizadas como fitoterápicos contidas na RENAME. A seleção de artigos deu-se por meio de três etapas distintas: leitura e escolha de títulos relacionados à ação antifúngica, leitura dos resumos e leitura na íntegra dos artigos selecionados. Esta revisão selecionou 22 estudos de interesse, sendo 12 elaborados no Brasil e 10 em outros países. Os artigos escolhidos testaram a ação inibitória das plantas contra espécies de fungos de importância agrícola e sanitária, entre filamentosos e leveduriformes, sendo Candida albicans a espécie mais testada. Trinta e nove espécies foram inibidas por alguma concentração do extrato utilizado, havendo aumento ou diminuição da atividade antifúngica conforme substância extratora utilizada. A planta mais analisada foi a espécie Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi., estudada em sete artigos. Os resultados encontrados demonstram a importância da análise de plantas medicinais e da incorporação de medicamentos à base de plantas como fonte alternativa de tratamento, salientando a necessidade de estudos que demonstrem sua citotoxicidade e mecanismos de ação terapêutica no organismo humano.
