Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the soft magnetic properties and thermal stability of FeTiNi alloys films. The preparation of FeTiN films with 0-30 at. % Ti contents was carried out using the reactive sputtering method. Results indicate that the films have high saturation magnetization, low coercivity, high relative permeability, high electrical resistance and display good thermal stability.

Abstract

A study was conducted to analyze the effects of cobalt addition on the structure and saturation magnetization of Fe16N2. In line with this, the JEM-200CX transmission electron microscope was utilized to examine the FeCoN films. Experimental results indicated that films with 5-25 at % cobalt contents deposited at proper conditions supported a high saturation magnetization up to the range 2.5 to 2.7 T.

Abstract

Rare earth (RE) ions doped uniaxially aligned Hf[O.sub.2] nanotubes are prepared by radio frequency sputtering with electrospun polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP) nanofiber templates and their morphologies and crystal configuration are studied. The enhancement in the photoluminescence (PL) intensities of the Hf[O.sub.2]:[RE.sup.3+] nanotubes is attributed to the high density of surface states present in these nanotubes.

Abstract

Abstract: Hafnium oxide (HfO2) films were prepared using a pulsed sputtering method and different O2/(O2 +Ar) ratios, deposition pressures, and sputtering powers. Spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) and positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) were used to investigate the influence of the deposition parameters on the number of open volume defects (OVDs) in the HfO2 films. The results reveal that a low O2/(O2 +Ar) ratio is critical for obtaining films with a dense structure and low OVDs. The film density increased and OVDs decreased when the deposition pressure was increased. The film deposited at high sputtering power showed a denser structure and lower OVDs. Our results suggest that SE and PAS are effective techniques for studying the optical properties of and defects in HfO2 and provide an insight into the fabrication of high-quality HfO2 thin films for optical applications.
