A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Menyuan County, Haibei Prefecture, Qinghai Province, at 01:45 PM Beijing time on January 8, 2022 (17:45 PM GMT time on January 7, 2022). To explore the magnitude of the earthquake deformation and the affected area, this work combined optical remote sensing interpretation, interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) coseismic deformation extraction, and field surveys for research and analysis. Relying on the high-resolution Earth observation system of the Qinghai Remote Sensing Center for Natural Resources, high-resolution GF1D, GF2, and TRIPLESAT optical remote sensing images were acquired immediately after the earthquake. The airborne triangulation encryption method was used to carry out orthographic correction, fusion, and mosaic processing of digital orthophoto map (DOM) and digital surface model (DSM) images, and first-hand optical remote sensing images of the disaster areas were obtained. Based on differential InSAR (D-InSAR), small baseline subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) and lifting rail fusion methods, the coseismic deformation field and deformation rate of the lifting rail direction were obtained by using Sentinel-1A data processing before and after the earthquake. Combined with optical interpretation, InSAR deformation, and field investigation, the results show that the deformation trend of the line of sight (LOS) images to the north and south of the ascending and descending orbits show an obvious opposite trend. The surface shape variables are −50 to 45 cm and −65 to 72 cm, respectively, and the deformation rate before the earthquake reached 25 cm/year. The deformation field characteristics show that the earthquake was mainly due to thrust, and the coseismic deformation field fractured along the WNW‒ESE direction with a length of approximately 33 km. The areas affected by 10 mm, 20 cm, and 50 cm deformation magnitudes in the whole earthquake area were 975.14, 321.10, and 38.55 km2, respectively. Within 20 km, there were two main affected townships, namely, Sujitan Township and Huangcheng Mongolian Township. Within 50 km, there were four main affected towns and townships, namely, Sujitan Township, Mongolian Township of the Imperial city, Qingshizui town, and Haomen town.

In recent years, China's economy has experienced rapid development, and its cities have undergone rapid expansion; however, the development of cities in the northwest region has been relatively slow due to various geographical and economic constraints. Studying the urban expansion in these regions is of significant importance for regional planning and development. This study selected the provincial capitals of five underdeveloped provinces in northwestern China as the research sample and used Landsat TM/OLI remote-sensing imagery as the primary data, supplemented by Digital Elevation Model (DEM), meteorological, and socio-economic data, the study extracted urban impervious surfaces using the ENDISI and MNDWI indices. It analyzed the spatial and temporal characteristics of urban impervious surfaces from 1990 to 2020 using indicators such as urban expansion intensity, compactness and fractal dimension, centroid migration, and standard deviation ellipse. Furthermore, the study quantified the influencing factors using Geodetectors. The findings reveal the following: (1) From 1990 to 2020, impervious surfaces in the five cities continued to expand, with Xi'an experiencing the largest expansion area at 549.94 km2 and Xining the smallest at only 132.83 km2, with an expansion intensity of merely 2.99%. However, significant disparities existed in expansion intensity and area across different periods. (2) Overall, the compactness of the cities decreased by 47.6% while the overall fractal dimension increased by 2.85%, indicating a trend towards more dispersed and complex urban forms. (3) Expansion directions varied among the cities, with Xi'an and Urumqi expanding towards the northwest, Lanzhou towards the north, Yinchuan primarily towards the east, and Xining mainly towards the west. (4) Economic, demographic, and investment factors were identified as the primary influencers of urban expansion, exhibiting changes over different periods. This study reports the neurophysiological and behavioral correlates of digital memory retrieval features in Chinese individuals with and without dyscalculia. A total of 18 children with dyscalculia (ages 11.5-13.5) and 18 controls were tested, and their event-related potentials were digitally recorded simultaneously with behavior measurement. Behavioral data showed that the dyscalculia group had lower hit rates and higher false rates than the control group. The electroencephalography results showed that both groups had a significant old/new effect and that this effect was greater in the control group. In the 300 to 400 ms processing stages, both groups showed significant differences in digital memory retrieval in the frontal regions. In the 400 to 500 and 500 to 600 ms epochs, the old/new effect in the control group was significantly greater than it was in the dyscalculia group at the frontal, central, and parietal regions. In the 600 to 700 ms processing stages, both groups showed significant differences in digital memory retrieval in the frontal, central, parietal, and occipital regions. These results suggest that individuals with dyscalculia exhibit impaired digital memory retrieval. Extraction failure may be an important cause of calculation difficulties.
