Search

Structures in molecular ISM are observed to follow a power-law relation between the velocity dispersion and spatial size, known as Larson's first relation, which is often attributed to the turbulent nature of molecular ISM and imprints the dynamics of molecular cloud structures. Using the ${}^{13}\mathrm{CO}~(J=1-0)$ data from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting survey, we built a sample with 360 structures having relatively accurate distances obtained from either the reddened background stars with Gaia parallaxes or associated maser parallaxes, spanning from $0.4$ to $\sim 15~\mathrm{kpc}$. Using this sample and about 0.3 million pixels, we analyzed the correlations between velocity dispersion, surface/column density, and spatial scales. Our structure-wise results show power-law indices smaller than 0.5 in both the $\sigma_v$-$R_{\mathrm{eff}}$ and $\sigma_v$-$R_{\mathrm{eff}} \cdot \Sigma$ relations. In the pixel-wise results, the $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}}$ is statistically scaling with the beam physical size ($R_{\mathrm{s}} \equiv \Theta D/2$) in form of $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}} \propto R_{\mathrm{s}}^{0.43 \pm 0.03}$. Meanwhile, $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}}$ in the inner Galaxy is statistically larger than the outer side. We also analyzed correlations between $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}}$ and the $\mathrm{H_2}$ column density $N(\mathrm{H_2})$, finding that $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}}$ stops increasing with $N(\mathrm{H_2})$ after $\gtrsim 10^{22}~{\mathrm{cm^{-2}}}$. The structures with and without high-column-density ($> 10^{22}~\mathrm{cm^{-2}}$) pixels show different $\sigma_v^{\mathrm{pix}} \propto N(\mathrm{H_2})^{\xi}$ relations, where the mean (std) $\xi$ values are $0.38~(0.14)$ and $0.62~(0.27)$, respectively., Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures, accepted for publication in Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics

In this work, we present the data from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting (MWISP) project for the Maddalena giant molecular cloud (GMC). We decompose the 13CO emission datacube of the observed region into hierarchical substructures using a modified Dendrogram algorithm. We investigate the statistical properties of these substructures and examine the role that self-gravity plays on various spatial scales. The statistics of the mass (M), radius (R), velocity dispersion ({\sigma}v), virial parameter ({\alpha}vir), and sonic Mach number of the substructures are presented. The radius and mass distributions and the {\sigma}v-R scaling relationship of the substructures resemble those reported in previous studies that use non-hierarchical algorithms to identify the entities. We find that for the hierarchical substructures {\alpha}vir decreases as the radius or mass of the substructures increases. The majority of the substructures in the quiescent region of Maddalena GMC are not gravitationally bound ({\alpha}vir > 2), while most of the substructures in the star-forming regions are gravitationally bound ({\alpha}vir < 2). Furthermore, we find that self-gravity plays an important role on scales of 0.8-4 pc in the IRAS 06453 star-forming region, while it is not an important factor on scales below 5 pc in the non-star-forming region.

We study the physical properties and 3D distribution of molecular clouds (MCs) toward the Cygnus region using the MWISP CO survey and Gaia DR3 data. Based on Gaussian decomposition and clustering for $\rm ^{13}CO$ lines, over 70% of the fluxes are recovered. With the identification result of $\rm ^{13}CO$ structures, two models are designed to measure the distances of the molecular gas in velocity crowding regions. The distances of more than 200 large $\rm ^{13}CO$ structures are obtained toward the 150 square degree region. Additionally, tens of the identified MC structures coincide well with masers and/or intense mid-IR emission. We find multiple gas layers toward the region: (1) the extensive gas structures composing the Cygnus Rift from 700 pc to 1 kpc across the whole region; (2) the $\sim$ 1.3 kpc gas layer mainly in the Cygnus X South region; and (3) the 1.5 kpc dense filament at the Cygnus X North region and many cometary clouds shaped by Cygnus OB2. We also note that the spatial distribution of YSO candidates is generally consistent with the molecular gas structures. The total molecular mass of the Cygnus region is estimated to be $\sim 2.7\times10^{6}~M_{\odot}$ assuming an X-factor ratio $X_{\rm CO} = 2 \times 10^{20} \rm cm^{-2} (K\cdot km\cdot s^{-1})^{-1}$. The foreground Cygnus Rift contributes $\sim$25% of the molecular mass in the whole region. We compare the observational properties between $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O and summarize the observational parameters based on 7069 clouds sample from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting (MWISP) CO survey in a section of the third Galactic quadrant. We find that the $^{13}$CO angular area ($A_{\rm ^{13}CO}$) generally increases with that of $^{12}$CO ($A_{\rm ^{12}CO}$), and the ratio of $A_{\rm ^{13}CO}$ to $A_{\rm ^{12}CO}$ is 0.38 by linear fitting. We find that the $^{12}$CO and $^{13}$CO flux are tightly correlated as $F_{\rm ^{13}CO}~=~0.17~ F_{\rm ^{12}CO}$ with both fluxes calculated within the $^{13}$CO-bright region. This indicates that the abundance $X_{\rm ^{13}CO}$ is a constant to be 6.5$^{+0.1}_{-0.5}$ $\times 10^{-7}$ for all samples under assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE). Additionally, we observed that the X-factor is approximately constant in large sample molecular clouds. Similarly, we find $F_{\rm C^{18}O}~=~0.11~F_{\rm ^{13}CO}$ with both fluxes calculated within C$^{18}$O-bright region, which indicates that the abundance ratios ${X_{\rm ^{13}CO}/X_{\rm C^{18}O}}$ stays the same value 9.7$^{+0.6}_{-0.8}$ across the molecular clouds under LTE assumption. The linear relationships of $F_{\rm ^{12}CO}$ vs. $F_{\rm ^{13}CO}$ and $F_{\rm ^{13}CO}$ vs. $F_{\rm C^{18}O}$ hold not only for the $^{13}$CO-bright region or C$^{18}$O-bright region, but also for the entire molecular cloud scale with lower flux ratio. The abundance ratio ${X_{\rm ^{13}CO}/X_{\rm C^{18}O}}$ inside clouds shows a strong correlation with column density and temperature. This indicates that the ${X_{\rm ^{13}CO}/X_{\rm C^{18}O}}$ is dominated by a combination of chemical fractionation, selectively dissociation, and self-shielding effect inside clouds., Comment: 11 pages, 16 figures, 1 table, accepted by AJ

We universally search for evidence of kinematic and spatial correlation of supernova remnant (SNR) and molecular cloud (MC) associations for nearly all SNRs in the coverage of the MWISP CO survey, i.e. 149 SNRs, 170 SNR candidates, and 18 pure pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) in 1 deg < l < 230 deg and -5.5 deg < b < 5.5 deg. Based on high-quality and unbiased 12CO/13CO/C18O (J = 1--0) survey data, we apply automatic algorithms to identify broad lines and spatial correlations for molecular gas in each SNR region. The 91% of SNR-MC associations detected previously are identified in this paper by CO line emission. Overall, there could be as high as 80% of SNRs associated with MCs. The proportion of SNRs associated with MCs is high within the Galactic longitude less than ~50 deg. Kinematic distances of all SNRs that are associated with MCs are estimated based on systemic velocities of associated MCs. The radius of SNRs associated with MCs follows a lognormal distribution, which peaks at ~8.1 pc. The progenitor initial mass of these SNRs follows a power-law distribution with an index of ~-2.3 that is consistent with the Salpeter index of -2.35. We find that SNR-MC associations are mainly distributed in a thin disk along the Galactic plane, while a small amount distributed in a thick disk. With the height of these SNRs from the Galactic plane below ~45 pc, the distribution of the average radius relative to the height of them is roughly flat, and the average radius increases with the height when above ~45 pc., Comment: 77 pages, 20 figures, 4 tables (with machine-readable versions), accepted for publication in ApJS

In this paper we present the distribution of molecular gas in the Milky Way Galactic plane from $l$ = [59.75, 74.75]$^{\circ}$ and $b$ = [${-}$5.25, +5.25]$^{\circ}$, using the MWISP $^{12}$CO/$^{13}$CO/$\rm {C}^{18}{O}$ emission line data. The molecular gas in this region can be mainly attributed to the Local spur, Local arm, Perseus arm, and Outer arm. Statistics of the physical properties of the molecular gas in each arm, such as excitation temperature, optical depth, and column density, are presented. Using the DBSCAN algorithm, we identified 15 extremely distant molecular clouds with kinematic distances of 14.72$-$17.77 kpc and masses of 363$-$520 M$_{\odot}$, which we find could be part of the Outer Scutum-Centaurus (OSC) arm identified by \cite{2011ApJ...734L..24D} and \cite{2015ApJ...798L..27S}. It is also possible that, 12 of these 15 extremely distant molecular clouds constitute an independent structure between the Outer and the OSC arms or a spur. There exist two Gaussian components in the vertical distribution of the molecular gas in the Perseus spiral arm. These two Gaussian components correspond to two giant filaments parallel to the Galactic plane. We find an upward warping of the molecular gas in the Outer spiral arm with a displacement of around 270 pc with respect to the Galactic mid-plane., Comment: 33 pages, 19 figures

Using the HI self-absorption data from the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), we perform a study of the cold atomic gas in the Cygnus-X North region. The most remarkable HI cloud is characterized by a filamentary structure, associated in space and in velocity with the principle molecular filament in the Cygnus-X North region. We investigate the transition from the atomic filament to the molecular filament. We find that the HII regions Cygnus OB2 and G081.920+00.138 play a critical role in compressing and shaping the atomic Cygnus-X North filament, where the molecular filament subsequently forms. The cold HI in the DR21 filament has a much larger column density (N(HI) $\sim$ 1 $\times$ 10$^{20}$ cm$^{-2}$) than the theoretical value of the residual atomic gas ($\sim$ 1 $\times$ 10$^{19}$ cm$^{-2}$), suggesting that the HI-to-H$_2$ transition is still in progress. The timescale of the HI-to-H$_2$ transition is estimated to be 3 $\times$ 10$^{5}$ yr, which approximates the ages of massive protostars in the Cygnus-X North region. This implies that the formation of molecular clouds and massive stars may occur almost simultaneously in the DR21 filament, in accord with a picture of rapid and dynamic cloud evolution., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures

We look into the 2851 $^{12}$CO molecular clouds harboring $^{13}$CO structures to reveal the distribution of the projected angular separations and radial velocity separations between their internal $^{13}$CO structures. The projected angular separations are determined using the minimal spanning tree algorithm. We find that $\sim$ 50$\%$ of the angular separations fall in a narrow range of $\sim$ 3 - 7 arcmin with a median of $\sim$ 5 arcmin, and the corresponding radial velocity separations mainly range from $\sim$ 0.3 km s$^{-1}$ to 2.5 km s$^{-1}$. The mean and standard deviation of the angular separations of the internal $^{13}$CO structures within $^{12}$CO clouds appear to be universal, independent of the $^{12}$CO cloud angular areas and the counts of their internal $^{13}$CO structures. We also reveal a scaling relation between the $^{12}$CO cloud angular area and its harbored $^{13}$CO structure count. These results suggest there is a preferred angular separation between $^{13}$CO structures in these $^{12}$CO clouds, considering the distance effects. According to that, we propose an alternative picture for the assembly and destruction of molecular clouds: there is a fundamental separation for the internal structures of molecular clouds, the build-up and destruction of molecular clouds proceeds under this fundamental unit., Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

How do dust grains in protoplanetary disks overcome rapid radial drift and grow from micron size particles to planets is not well understood. The key is to search for evidence of dust accumulation and growth as a function of radius in the disk. We investigate the radial profile of grain size in the DS Tau disk by fitting multi-band ALMA observations with self-consistent radiative transfer models. The best-fit grain sizes range from centimeters in the inner disk down to 30 micron in the outer regions. Such an inside-out decreasing tendency is consistent with theories of dust evolution. Based on the best-fit model, we find that dust of 2 Jupiter masses has been depleted within the gap. By taking the gas-to-dust mass ratio into account, the lost mass is enough to form the 3.5 Jupiter mass planet inferred by literature hydrodynamic simulations. Moreover, our modeling also indicates that at the interface region between the gap and the ring, the grain size profile shows a discontinuity, with its amplitude dependent on the dust model adopted in the radiative transfer analysis. Active star forming regions are excellent laboratories for studying the origins and evolution of young stellar object (YSO) clustering. The W40 - Serpens South region is such a region, and we compile a super near-and-mid-infrared catalog of point sources in it, based on deep NIR observations of CFHT in combination with 2MASS, UKIDSS, and Spitzer catalogs. From this catalog, we identify 832 YSOs, and classify 15, 135, 647, and 35 of them to be the deeply embedded sources, Class I, Class II YSOs, and transition disk sources, respectively. In general, these YSOs are well correlated with the filamentary structures of molecular clouds, especially the deeply embedded sources and the Class I YSOs. The W40 central region is dominated by Class II YSOs, but in the Serpens South region, a half of the YSOs are Class I. We further generate a minimum spanning tree (MST) for all the YSOs. Around the W40 cluster, there are eight prominent MST branches that may trace vestigial molecular gas filaments that once fed gas to the central natal gas clump. Of the eight, only two now include detectable filamentary gas in Herschel data and corresponding Class I YSOs, while the other six are exclusively populated with Class II. Four MST branches overlap with the Serpens South main filament, and where they intersect, molecular gas "hubs" and more Class I YSOs are found. We have obtained column density maps for an unbiased sample of 120 molecular clouds in the third quadrant of the Milky Way mid-plane (b$\le |5|^{\circ}$) within the galactic longitude range from 195$^{\circ}$ to 225$^{\circ}$, using the high sensitivity $^{12}$CO and $^{13}$CO ($J=1-0$) data from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting (MWISP) project. The probability density functions of the molecular hydrogen column density of the clouds, N-PDFs, are fitted with both log-normal (LN) function and log-normal plus power-law (LN+PL) function. The molecular clouds are classified into three categories according to their shapes of N-PDFs, i.e., LN, LN+PL, and UN (unclear), respectively. About 72\% of the molecular clouds fall into the LN category, while 18\% and 10\% into the LN+PL and UN categories, respectively. A power-law scaling relation, $\sigma_s\propto N_{H_2}^{0.44}$, exists between the width of the N-PDF, $\sigma_s$, and the average column density, $N_{H_2}$, of the molecular clouds. However, $\sigma_s$ shows no correlation with the mass of the clouds. A correlation is found between the dispersion of normalized column density, $\sigma_{N/\rm }$, and the sonic Mach number, $\mathcal{M}$, of molecular clouds. Overall, as predicted by numerical simulations, the N-PDFs of the molecular clouds with active star formation activity tend to have N-PDFs with power-law high-density tails.

After the morphological classification of the 18,190 $^{12}$CO molecular clouds, we further investigate the properties of their internal molecular gas structures traced by the $^{13}$CO($J=$ 1$-$0) line emissions. Using three different methods to extract the $^{13}$CO gas structures within each $^{12}$CO cloud, we find that $\sim$ 15$\%$ of $^{12}$CO clouds (2851) have $^{13}$CO gas structures and these $^{12}$CO clouds contribute about 93$\%$ of the total integrated flux of $^{12}$CO emission. In each of 2851 $^{12}$CO clouds with $^{13}$CO gas structures, the $^{13}$CO emission area generally does not exceed 70$\%$ of the $^{12}$CO emission area, and the $^{13}$CO integrated flux does not exceed 20$\%$ of the $^{12}$CO integrated flux. We reveal a strong correlation between the velocity-integrated intensities of $^{12}$CO lines and those of $^{13}$CO lines in both $^{12}$CO and $^{13}$CO emission regions. This indicates the H$_{2}$ column densities of molecular clouds are crucial for the $^{13}$CO lines emission. After linking the $^{13}$CO structure detection rates of the 18,190 $^{12}$CO molecular clouds to their morphologies, i.e. nonfilaments and filaments, we find that the $^{13}$CO gas structures are primarily detected in the $^{12}$CO clouds with filamentary morphologies. Moreover, these filaments tend to harbor more than one $^{13}$CO structure. That demonstrates filaments not only have larger spatial scales, but also have more molecular gas structures traced by $^{13}$CO lines, i.e. the local gas density enhancements. Our results favor the turbulent compression scenario for filament formation, in which dynamical compression of turbulent flows induces the local density enhancements. We attempt to visually classify the morphologies of 18190 molecular clouds, which are identified in the $^{12}$CO(1-0) spectral line data over $\sim$ 450 deg$^{2}$ of the second Galactic quadrant from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting project (MWISP). Using the velocity-integrated intensity maps of the $^{12}$CO(1-0) emission, molecular clouds are first divided into unresolved and resolved ones. The resolved clouds are further classified as non-filaments or filaments. Among the 18190 molecular clouds, $\sim$ 25 $\%$ are unresolved, $\sim$ 64$\%$ are non-filaments, and $\sim$ 11$\%$ are filaments. In the terms of the integrated flux of $^{12}$CO(1-0) spectra of the whole 18190 molecular clouds, $\sim$ 90$\%$ are from filaments, $\sim$ 9$\%$ are from non-filaments, and the rest $\sim$ 1$\%$ are from unresolved sources. Although non-filaments are dominant in the number of the discrete molecular clouds, filaments are the main contributor of $^{12}$CO emission flux. We also present the number distributions of physical parameters of the molecular clouds in our catalog, including their angular sizes, velocity spans, peak intensities of $^{12}$CO(1-0) emission, and $^{12}$CO(1-0) total fluxes. We find that there is a systematic difference between the angular sizes of the non-filaments and filaments, with the filaments tending to have larger angular scales. The H$_{2}$ column densities of them are not significantly different. We identify 225 filaments from an H$_2$ column density map constructed using simultaneous $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O (J=1-0) observations carried out as a part of the MWISP project. We select 46 long filaments with lengths above 1.2 pc to analyze the filament column density profiles. We divide the selected filaments into 397 segments and calculate the column density profiles for each segment. The symmetries of the profiles are investigated. The proportion of intrinsically asymmetrical segments is 65.3$\%$, and that of intrinsically symmetrical ones is 21.4$\%$. The typical full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the intrinsically symmetrical filament segments is $\sim$ 0.67 pc with the Plummer-like fitting, and $\sim$ 0.50 pc with the Gaussian fitting, respectively. The median FWHM widths derived from the second-moment method for intrinsically symmetrical and asymmetrical profiles are $\sim$ 0.44 and 0.46 pc, respectively. We have studied the properties of molecular clouds in the second quadrant of the Milky Way Mid-plane from l$=$104$.\!\!^{\circ}$75 to l$=$119$.\!\!^{\circ}$75 and b$=-$5$.\!\!^{\circ}$25 to b$=$5$.\!\!^{\circ}$25 using the $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O $J=1-0$ emission line data from the Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting project (MWISP). We have identified 857 and 300 clouds in the $^{12}$CO and $^{13}$CO spectral cubes, respectively, using the DENDROGRAM + SCIMES algorithms. The distances of the molecular clouds are estimated and the physical properties like masses, sizes, and surface densities of the clouds are tabulated. The molecular clouds in the Perseus arm are about 30$-$50 times more massive and 4$-$6 times larger than the clouds in the Local arm. This result, however, is likely biased by distance selection effects. The surface densities of the clouds are enhanced in the Perseus arm with an average value of $\sim$100 M$_{\odot}$ pc$^{-2}$. We selected the 40 most extended ($>$0.35 arcdeg$^2$) molecular clouds from the $^{12}$CO catalog to build the H$_2$ column density probability distribution function (N-PDF). About 78\% of the N-PDFs of the selected molecular clouds are well fitted with log-normal functions with only small deviations at high-densities which correspond to star-forming regions with scales of $\sim$1-5 pc in the Local arm and $\sim$5-10 pc in the Perseus arm. About 18\% of the selected molecular clouds have power-law N-PDFs at high-densities. In these molecular clouds, the majority of the regions fitted with the power-law correspond to molecular clumps of sizes of $\sim$1 pc or filaments of widths of $\sim$1 pc., Comment: 48 pages, 90 figures

Using the PMO-13.7 m millimeter telescope at Delingha in China, we have conducted a large-scale simultaneous survey of $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O $J=1-0$ emission toward the sky region centered at $l$=$209.7^\circ$, $b$=$-$2.25$^\circ$ with a coverage of $4.0^\circ \times 4.5^\circ$. The majority of the emission in the region comes from the clouds with velocities lying in the range from $-$3 km s$^{-1}$ to 55 km s$^{-1}$, at kinematic distances from 0.5 kpc to 7.0 kpc. The molecular clouds in the region are concentrated into three velocity ranges. The molecular clouds associated with the ten H II regions/candidates are identified and their physical properties are presented. Massive stars are found within Sh2-280, Sh2-282, Sh2-283, and BFS54, and we suggest them to be the candidate excitation sources of the H II regions. The distributions of excitation temperature and line width with the projected distance from the center of H II region/candidate suggest that the majority of the ten H II regions/candidates and their associated molecular gas are three-dimensional structures, rather than two-dimensional structures., Comment: 28 pages, 30 figures

We present the properties of magnetic fields (B-fields) in two clumps (clump 1 and clump 2), located at the waist of the bipolar H II region Sh2-201, based on JCMT SCUBA-2/POL-2 observations of 850 $\mu$m polarized dust emission. We find that B-fields in the direction of the clumps are bent and compressed, showing bow-like morphologies, which we attribute to the feedback effect of the H II region on the surface of the clumps. Using the modified Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi method we estimate B-fields strengths of 266 $\mu$G and 65 $\mu$G for clump 1 and clump 2, respectively. From virial analyses and critical mass ratio estimates, we argue that clump 1 is gravitationally bound and could be undergoing collapse, whereas clump 2 is unbound and stable. We hypothesize that the interplay between thermal pressure imparted by the H II region, B-field morphologies, and the various internal pressures of the clumps (such as magnetic, turbulent, and gas thermal pressure), has the following consequences: (a) formation of clumps at the waist of the H II region; (b) progressive compression and enhancement of the B-fields in the clumps; (c) stronger B-fields will shield the clumps from erosion by the H II region and cause pressure equilibrium between the clumps and the H II region, thereby allowing expanding I-fronts to blow away from the filament ridge, forming bipolar H II regions; and (d) stronger B-fields and turbulence will be able to stabilize the clumps. We have conducted a large-field simultaneous survey of $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O $J=1-0$ emission toward the Orion A giant molecular cloud (GMC) with a sky coverage of $\sim$ 4.4 deg$^2$ using the PMO-13.7 m millimeter-wavelength telescope. We use the probability distribution function of the column density (N-PDF) to investigate the distribution of molecular hydrogen in the Orion A GMC. The H$_2$ column density, derived from the $^{13}$CO emission, of the GMC is dominated by log-normal distribution in the range from $\sim$4$\times10^{21}$ to $\sim$1.5$\times10^{23}$ cm$^{-2}$ with excesses both at the low-density and high-density ends. The excess of the low-density end is possibly caused by an extended and low-temperature ($\sim$10 K) component with velocities in the range of 5$-$8 km s$^{-1}$. Compared with the northern sub-regions, the southern sub-regions of the Orion A GMC contain less gas with column density in $N_{H_2} > 1.25\times 10^{22}\ \rm{cm}^{-2}$. The dispersions of the N-PDFs of the sub-regions are found to correlate with the evolutionary stages of the clouds across the Orion A GMC. The structure hierarchy of Orion A GMC is explored with the DENDROGRAM algorithm, and it is found that the GMC is composed of two branches. All structures except one in the tree have virial parameters less than 2, indicating self-gravity is important on the spatial scales from $\sim$0.3 to $\sim$4 pc. Although power-laws and departures from log-normal distributions are found at the high-density end of N-PDFs of active star-forming regions, the N-PDFs of structures in the Orion A GMC are predominantly log-normal on scales from R$\sim$0.4 to 4 pc., Comment: 24 pages, 15 figures

We have conducted a large-field simultaneous survey of $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O $J=1-0$ emission toward the Cassiopeia A (Cas A) supernova remnant (SNR), which covers a sky area of $3.5^{\circ}\times3.1^{\circ}$. The Cas giant molecular cloud (GMC) mainly consists of three individual clouds with masses on the order of $10^4-10^5\ M_{\odot}$. The total mass derived from the $\rm{^{13}CO}$ emission of the GMC is 2.1$\times10^{5}\ M_{\odot}$ and is 9.5$\times10^5\ M_{\odot}$ from the $\rm{^{12}CO}$ emission. Two regions with broadened (6$-$7 km s$^{-1}$) or asymmetric $^{12}$CO line profiles are found in the vicinity (within a 10$'\times10'$ region) of the Cas A SNR, indicating possible interactions between the SNR and the GMC. Using the GAUSSCLUMPS algorithm, 547 $^{13}$CO clumps are identified in the GMC, 54$\%$ of which are supercritical (i.e. $\alpha_{\rm{vir}}<2$). The mass spectrum of the molecular clumps follows a power-law distribution with an exponent of $-2.20$. The pixel-by-pixel column density of the GMC can be fitted with a log-normal probability distribution function (N-PDF). The median column density of molecular hydrogen in the GMC is $1.6\times10^{21}$ cm$^{-2}$ and half the mass of the GMC is contained in regions with H$_2$ column density lower than $3\times10^{21}$ cm$^{-2}$, which is well below the threshold of star formation. Using the Purple Mountain Observatory Delingha 13.7 m telescope, we conducted a large-scale $^{12}$CO $\left(J=1 \rightarrow 0\right)$ outflow survey (over $\sim$ 110 deg$^2$) toward the W3/4/5 complex and its surroundings. In total, 459 outflow candidates were identified. Approximately 62\% (284) were located in the Perseus arm, including W3/4/5 complex and its surroundings, while $\sim$ 35\% (162) were located in the Local arm, $\sim$ 1\% (5) in the Outer arm, and $\sim$ 2\% (8) in two interarm regions. This result indicated that star formation was concentrated in the Galactic spiral arms. The detailed spatial distribution of the outflow candidates showed that the Perseus arm presented the most active star formation among the study regions. The W3/4/5 complex is a great region to research massive star formation in a triggered environment. A key region, which has been well-studied by other researches, is in the eastern high-density W3 complex that neighbors the W4 complex. Two shell-like structures in the Local arm contain candidates that can be used to study the impact on star formation imposed by massive or intermediate-mass stars in relatively isolated systems. We present the results based on the optical $R$-band polarization observations of 280 stars distributed towards the dark globule LDN\,1225. {\it Gaia} data release 2 parallaxes along with the polarization data of $\sim$200 stars have been used to (a) constrain the distance of LDN\,1225 as 830$\pm$83~pc, (b) determine the contribution of interstellar polarization (ISP), and (c) characterize the dust properties and delineate the magnetic field (B-field) morphology of LDN\,1225. We find that B-fields are more organized and exhibit a small dispersion of 12$\degr$. Using the $^{12}$CO molecular line data from the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO), along with the column density, dispersion in B-fields, we estimate B-field strength to be $\sim$56\,$\pm$\,10\,$\mu$G, magnetic to turbulence pressure to be $\sim$3\,$\pm$\,2, and the mass-to-magnetic flux ratio (in units of critical value) to be~$<$\,1. These results indicate the dominant role of B-fields in comparison to turbulence and gravity in rendering the cloud support. B-fields are aligned parallel to the low-density parts (traced by $^{12}$CO map) of the cloud, in contrast they are neither parallel nor perpendicular to the high-density core structures (traced by $^{13}$CO and C$^{18}$O maps). LDN\,1225 hosts two 70\,$\mu$m sources which seem to be of low-mass Class 0 sources. The total-to-selective extinction derived using optical and near-infrared photometric data is found to be anomalous ($R_{V}$~$=$~3.4), suggesting dust grain growth in LDN\,1225. Polarization efficiency of dust grains follows a power-law index of $-$0.7 inferring that optical polarimetry traces B-fields in the outer parts of the cloud., Comment: 32 Pages, 19 Figures, and 7 Tables. Using the PMO-13.7m millimeter telescope at Delingha in China, we have conducted a large-scale simultaneous survey of $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, and C$^{18}$O J=1-0 emission toward the Rosette molecular cloud (RMC) region with a sky coverage of 3.5 $\times$ 2.5 deg$^2$. The majority of the emission in the region comes from the RMC complex with velocities lying in the range from -2 km s$^{-1}$ to 20.5 km s$^{-1}$. Beyond this velocity range, 73 molecular clumps are identified with kinematic distances from 2.4 kpc to 11 kpc. Based on the spatial and velocity distribution, nine individual clouds, C1-C9, have been identified for the RMC complex. It appears that the C3 cloud is different from other clouds in the RMC complex in view of its characteristic velocity, excitation temperature, and velocity dispersion. Most of the young stellar clusters in the region are located in positions of both high column density and high excitation temperature. Seven new molecular filaments are discovered in the RMC complex. Evidence for cloud-cloud collision is found in the region of young stellar clusters REFL9 and PouF, showing that these young stellar clusters probably result from a cloud-cloud collision. The abundance ratios of $^{13}$CO to C$^{18}$O in the region have a mean value of 13.7 which is 2.5 times larger than the solar system value, showing that UV photons from the nearby OB clusters have strong influence on the chemistry of clouds in the RMC complex., Comment: 28 pages, 25 figures.
