6. Substrate-mediated Borophane Polymorphs through Hydrogenation of Two-dimensional Boron Sheets

Abstract

Two-dimensional boron monolayer (borophene) stands out from the two-dimensional atomic layered materials due to its structural flexibility, tunable electronic and mechanical properties from a large number of allotropic materials. The stability of pristine borophene polymorphs could possibly be improved via hydrogenation with atomic hydrogen (referred to as borophane). However, the precise adsorption structures and the underlying mechanism are still elusive. Employing first-principles calculations, we demonstrate the optimal configurations of freestanding borophanes and the ones grown on metallic substrates. For freestanding {\beta}12 and {\chi}3 borophenes, the energetically favored hydrogen adsorption sites are on the top of the boron atoms with CN=4 (CN: coordination number), while the best absorption sites for {\alpha}' borophene are on the top of the boron atoms with CN=6. With various metal substrates, the hydrogenation configurations of borophene are modulated significantly, attributed to the chemical hybridization strength between B pz and H s orbitals. These findings provide a deep insight into the hydrogenating borophenes and facilitate the stabilization of two-dimensional boron polymorphs by engineering hydrogen adsorption sites and concentrations.

14. FAST Globular Cluster Pulsar Survey: Twenty-Four Pulsars Discovered in Fifteen Globular Clusters

Abstract

We present the discovery of 24 pulsars in 15 Globular Clusters (GCs) using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). These include the first pulsar discoveries in M2, M10, and M14. Most of the new systems are either confirmed or likely members of binary systems. M53C, NGC6517H and I are the only three pulsars confirmed to be isolated. M14A is a black widow pulsar with an orbital period of 5.5 hours and a minimum companion mass of 0.016 \Ms. M14E is an eclipsing binary pulsar with an orbital period of 20.3 hours. With the other 8 discoveries that have been reported elsewhere, in total 32 GC pulsars have been discovered by FAST so far. In addition, We detected M3A twice. This was enough to determine that it is a black widow pulsar with an orbital period of 3.3 hours and a minimum companion mass of 0.0125 \Ms., Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, accepted by ApJL, comments are always welcomed!

15. Three Pulsars Discovered by FAST in the Globular Cluster NGC 6517 with a Pulsar Candidate Sifting Code Based on Dispersion Measure to Signal-to-Noise Ratio Plots

Abstract

We report the discovery of three new pulsars in the Globular Cluster (GC) NGC6517, namely NGC 6517 E, F, and G, made with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The spin periods of NGC 6517 E, F, and G are 7.60~ms, 24.89~ms, and 51.59~ms, respectively. Their dispersion measures are 183.29, 183.713, and 185.3~pc~cm$^{-3}$, respectively, all slightly larger than those of the previously known pulsars in this cluster. The spin period derivatives are at the level of 1$\times$10$^{-18}$~s~s$^{-1}$, which suggests these are recycled pulsars. In addition to the discovery of these three new pulsars, we updated the timing solutions of the known isolated pulsars, NGC 6517 A, C, and D. The solutions are consistent with those from Lynch et al. (2011) and with smaller timing residuals. From the timing solution, NGC 6517 A, B (position from Lynch et al. 2011), C, E, and F are very close to each other on the sky and only a few arcseconds from the optical core of NGC 6517. With currently published and unpublished discoveries, NGC6517 now has 9 pulsars, ranking 5$^{th}$ of the GCs with the most pulsars. 21. Over-expression of miR-144-3p attenuates Ang Ⅱ-induced injury of HUVEC

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of miR-144-3p on the proliferation, invasion, apoptosis and ROS levels of human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) induced by angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ). Methods The cells were divided into control group, model group (Ang Ⅱ), negative control group (Ang Ⅱ+ transfection miR-144-3p NC) and experimental group (Ang Ⅱ + transfection miR-144-3p mimic). RT-qPCR was used to detect the transfection efficiency. MTT method was used to detect cell proliferation. Cell invasion was examined by Transwell chamber. Apoptosis kit and flow cytometry were applied to detect apoptosis, and the flow cytometry was applied to detect intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS) level. Results Compared with control group, the proliferation and invasion of the cells in the model group decreased significantly, but the apoptotic rate and intracellular ROS level increased significantly(P＜0.05). The above indicators found in the experimental group were all alleviated to a certain extent (P＜0.05). Conclusions Over-expression of miR-144-3p can effectively reduce the proliferation and invasion of HUVEC induced by Ang Ⅱ and reduce the apoptosis rate as well as ROS level.

42. The role of liver enzymes in the association between ozone exposure and diabetes risk: a cross-sectional study of Zhuang adults in China.

Abstract

Background: Growing evidence has demonstrated the role of ambient air pollutants in driving diabetes incidence. However, epidemiological evidence linking ozone (O3) exposure to diabetes risk has been scarcely studied in Zhuang adults in China. We aimed to investigate the associations of long-term exposure to O3 with diabetes prevalence and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and estimate the mediating role of liver enzymes in Zhuang adults. Methods: We recruited 13 843 ethnic minority adults during 2018–2019 based on a cross-sectional study covering nine districts/counties in Guangxi. Generalized linear mixed models were implemented to estimate the relationships between O3 exposure and diabetes prevalence and FPG. Mediation effect models were constructed to investigate the roles of liver enzymes in the associations of O3 exposure with diabetes prevalence and FPG. Subgroup analyses were conducted to identify potential effect modifications. Results: Long-term exposure to O3 was positively associated with diabetes prevalence and FPG levels in Zhuang adults, with an excess risk of 7.32% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.56%, 12.30%) and an increase of 0.047 mmol L−1 (95% CI: 0.032, 0.063) for diabetes prevalence and FPG levels, respectively, for each interquartile range (IQR, 1.18 μg m−3) increment in O3 concentrations. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) significantly mediated 8.10% and 29.89% of the associations of O3 with FPG and diabetes prevalence, respectively, and the corresponding mediation proportions of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were 8.48% and 30.00%. Greater adverse effects were observed in females, obese subjects, people with a low education level, rural residents, non-clean fuel users, and people with a history of stroke and hypertension in the associations of O3 exposure with diabetes prevalence and/or FPG levels (all P values for interaction < 0.05). Conclusion: Long-term exposure to O3 is related to an increased risk of diabetes, which is partially mediated by liver enzymes in Chinese Zhuang adults. Promoting clean air policies and reducing exposure to environmental pollutants should be a priority for public health policies geared toward preventing diabetes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
