We followed up and recorded the nutritional status and risk of weakness at different time-points (days 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 12) postoperatively. Patient information regarding demographics, physical examination, medical history, and perioperative blood tests were collected. Binary logistic regression was applied to identify risk factors for weakness after liver transplantation.Results: The cohort comprised 44 liver transplant recipients, with a mean age of 47.66 years (standard deviation=9.49 years). Initial analysis revealed that, compared to the group without nutritional risks, the group with nutritional risks displayed elevated age and preoperative blood ammonia levels one week post-surgery. Moreover, this group had reduced levels of albumin and total bile acid preoperatively. Patients with preoperative nutritional risks were also prone to similar risks 2 weeks postoperatively. Further, a correlation was observed between preoperative pulmonary infections and increased frailty risk 6 days postoperatively. At both 9 and 12 days postoperatively, patients with frailty risk exhibited higher preoperative white blood cell counts and ammonia levels than those without. Multivariable analysis, controlling for confounding factors, indicated a significant association between preoperative nutritional status and nutritional risk 2 weeks postoperatively, as well as a link between preoperative white blood cell count and frailty risk at 12 days postoperatively.Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between preoperative nutritional status and nutritional risk 2 weeks after liver transplantation, and preoperative white blood cell count was an independent risk factor for weakness 12 days postoperatively. Preoperative nutritional management for patients could potentially mitigate the likelihood of adverse clinical outcomes.Keywords: malnutrition, frailty, liver transplantation, risk factors, epidemiology

Complete anthropometric data and lipid profiles were measured in the first trimester (before 12 weeks gestation) and a 75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24– 28 weeks was performed. Based on OGTT results, participants were categorised into Normal Glucose Tolerance (NGT) group (n=872) and GDM group (n=201). General data, laboratory test results, and surrogate insulin resistance indicators such as TyG index, TG/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C, and TC/HDL-C were documented and compared. To compare differences between the two groups, t-test was used, Spearman correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were performed to establish associations between these indicators and insulin resistance in GDM. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves were generated to compare the thresholds of these indicators for predicting GDM during pregnancy and to quantify overall diagnostic accuracy.Results: Individuals with GDM had higher TyG, TG/HDL-C, and LDL-C/HDL-C levels (P < 0.001), but with no significant difference observed in TC/HDL-C. All four ratios were positively correlated with Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), yet only TyG emerged as an independent risk factor for HOMA-IR. The Area under the Curve (AUC) of TyG index (0.692) was comparable to that of HOMA-IR (0.703). The cut-off points for TyG index, TG/HDL-C, and HOMA-IR in predicting GDM were 7.088, 0.831, and 1.8, respectively. HOMA-IR exhibited the highest sensitivity (79.1%), while TyG index (64.3%) and TG/HDL-C ratio (64.3%) demonstrated better specificity compared to HOMA-IR (56.3%). LDL-C/HDL-C and TC/HDL-C offered no discernible predictive advantage.Conclusion: Early pregnancy TyG index and TG/HDL-C can aid in identifying pregnant women at risk for GDM, potentially facilitating early and effective intervention to improve prognosis. The LHRH receptor is specifically overexpressed in most ovarian cancers, and the integrin αvβ 3 receptor is also overexpressed on the surface of ovarian cancer cells. In this study, we designed LHRH analogues (LHRHa)/RGD co-modified paclitaxel liposomes (LHRHa-RGD-LP-PTX) to target LHRH receptor-positive ovarian cancers more effectively and enhance the anti-ovarian cancer effects.Methods: LHRHa-RGD-LP-PTX liposomes were prepared using the thin film hydration method. The morphology, physicochemical properties, cellular uptake, and cell viability were assessed. Additionally, the cellular uptake mechanism of the modified liposomes was investigated using various endocytic inhibitors. The inhibitory effect of the formulations on tumor spheroids was observed under a microscope. The co-localization with lysosomes was visualized using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and the in vivo tumor-targeting ability of the formulations was assessed using the IVIS fluorescent imaging system. Finally, the in vivo anti-tumor efficacy of the formulations was evaluated in the armpits of BALB/c nude mice.Results: The results indicated that LHRHa-RGD-LP-PTX significantly enhanced cellular uptake in A2780 cells, increased cytotoxicity, and hand a more potent inhibitory effect on tumor spheroids of A2780 cells. It also showed enhanced co-localization with endosomes or lysosome in A2780 cells, improved tumor-targeting capability, and demonstrated an enhanced anti-tumor effect in LHRHR-positive ovarian cancers.Conclusion: The designed LHRHa-RGD-LP-PTX liposomes significantly enhanced the tumor-targeting ability and therapeutic efficacy for LHRH receptor-positive ovarian cancers. However, there is limited information available on New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) producing Citrobacter koseri. In this study, we isolated a blaNDM-1-carrying C. koseri from a stool sample of an inpatient. Our aim was to investigate the phenotypic and genomic features of this clinically derived carbapenem-resistant C. koseri isolate and to characterize the transmission pattern of the IncFII/IncN plasmid that carries the blaNDM-1 gene.Methods and Results: S1-PFGE, Southern blot and conjugation assay confirmed the presence of blaNDM-1 gene in a conjugative plasmid. C. koseri L2395 and transconjugant L2395-EC600 strains showed similar resistance spectrum. Whole-genome analysis revealed that pL2395_NDM is an IncFII/IncN plasmid with a length of 67,839 bp. Moreover, blaNDM-1 gene was found encoded in the ISKpn19-blaNDM-1-ble-tnpF-dsbD-cutA-ISKpn19 cassette array. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain L2395 was close to an IMP-4-bearing C. koseri from Australia.Conclusion: Ongoing surveillance will be essential to control and prevent the spread of carbapenem-resistant Citrobacter spp. in the future.Keywords: Citrobacter koseri, carbapenem-resistant, NDM-1, whole-genome sequencing

This scoping review aimed to synthesize the current evidence in the past ten years and provide an overview of efficacy, safety, treatment adherence, patient attitudes, and healthcare resource utilization of LAI in this population. A systematic search was conducted with a pre-defined search strategy in six electronic databases including Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, and PsycArticles. A total of 46 studies were included, including 15 cohort studies, 13 single-arm trials, 10 randomized controlled trials, four mirror-image studies, three cross-sectional studies, and one controlled clinical trial. Paliperidone palmitate once-monthly injection (27/46) and risperidone LAI (14/46) were the most frequently investigated LAIs. Compared with oral antipsychotic medications (OAMs), LAIs demonstrated a lower rate of relapse/hospitalization and comparable improvement in efficacy. Adverse events (AEs) were similar between LAIs and OAMs, although types and incidence varied. Significant reduction in the length of hospitalization and number of outpatient visits/inpatient admission was observed after initiation of LAIs. These findings suggest that LAI demonstrated comparable efficacy and safety among Asian populations with schizophrenia in comparison to OAMs. Better adherence and lower relapse were observed in patients receiving LAIs from published evidence. Future research is warranted to better understand the comprehensive performance of LAI in specific population or context.Plain Language Summary: LAI antipsychotic drugs for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia have been considered the therapy of choice in case of poor adherence to treatment and frequent relapses. Few review studies focused on the benefits of LAI antipsychotics for schizophrenia in the Asian population have been conducted to date. Early intervention is crucial to improve the outcomes of DN. CXCL8 is related to podocyte damage in incipient DN; however, the role and expression level of CXCL8 have never been elucidated, especially in those with undiminished creatinine clearance.Methods: Consecutive inpatients with type 2 diabetes were included in this study. Patients were assigned into four groups based on the Mogensen stage, reflecting pathological features through clinical manifestations: non-DN group, hyperfiltration group, microalbuminuria group and overt DN group. Clinical and laboratory data were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Urinary CXCL8 (uCXCL8) was measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method and adjusted for urinary creatinine (Cr) from the same urine sample.Results: In total, 88 eligible consecutive inpatients with type 2 diabetes were included in this study. uCXCL8 was differentially expressed in different stages of incipient DN; it decreased in the hyperfiltration phase of incipient DN (1.40± 1.01 pg/μmol Cr) and was highly expressed in patients in the microalbuminuria stage (5.01± 4.01 pg/μmol Cr). uCXCL8 was positively correlated with age, diabetes course, cystatin C and urinary albuminuria-to-creatinine ratio, but negatively correlated with estimated glomerular filtration rate (P< 0.05). uCXCL8 was a risk factor for classic DN after adjusting for age, diabetes course and cystatin C (OR= 1.17, 95% CI 0.98– 1.4, P=0.045).Conclusion: CXCL8 played an important role in the progression of incipient DN. The unique expression profile of uCXCL8 may provide a reference for understanding the prognosis and mechanisms of incipient DN progression. uCXCL8 was an independent risk factor for the development of classic DN.Keywords: type 2 diabetes, diabetic nephropathies, interleukin-8, inflammation

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
A puzzle has long existed for the $\alpha$-cluster content in the near-threshold 7.54 MeV state of $^{10}$Be. A new measurement was conducted to measure the cluster-decay partial width of this state, using the reaction $\rm{^9Be}(\rm{^9Be}, \rm{^{10}Be}^{*} \rightarrow \alpha + \rm{^6He})\rm{^8Be}$ at 45 MeV beam energy. Special measures were taken to reduce the strong near-threshold background. The neutron-decay strength was also obtained based on the three-fold coincident measurement. A cluster-decay branching ratio of $(4.04 \pm 1.26)\times 10^{-4}$ is obtained, resulting in a reasonably large $\alpha$-cluster spectroscopic factor. The present work confirms the formation of the $\sigma$-bond molecular rotational band headed by the 6.18 MeV state in $^{10}$Be.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
$\beta$ decay of $^{26}$P was used to populate the astrophysically important $E_x=$5929.4(8) keV $J^{\pi}=3{^+}$ state of $^{26}$Si. Both $\beta$-delayed proton at 418(8) keV and gamma ray at 1742(2) keV emitted from this state were measured simultaneously for the first time with corresponding absolute intensities of 11.1(12)\% and 0.59(44)\%, respectively. Besides, shell model calculations with weakly bound effects were performed to investigate the decay properties of other resonant states and a spin-parity of $4^+$ rather than $0^+$ was favored for the $E_x=$5945.9(40) keV state. Combining the experimental results and theoretical calculations, $^{25}$Al($p,\gamma$)$^{26}$Si reaction rate in explosive hydrogen burning environments was calculated and compared with previous studies.

Fine structure in the $\alpha$ decay of $^{223}$U was observed in the fusion-evaporation reaction $^{187}$Re($^{40}$Ar, p3n) by using fast digital pulse processing technique. Two $\alpha$-decay branches of $^{223}$U feeding the ground state and 244 keV excited state of $^{219}$Th were identified by establishing the decay chain $^{223}$U $\xrightarrow{\alpha_{1}}$ $^{219}$Th $\xrightarrow{\alpha_{2}}$ $^{215}$Ra $\xrightarrow{\alpha_{3}}$ $^{211}$Rn. The $\alpha$-particle energy for the ground-state to ground-state transition of $^{223}$U was determined to be 8993(17) keV, 213 keV higher than the previous value, the half-life was updated to be 62$^{+14}_{-10}$ $\mu$s. Evolution of nuclear structure for $N$ = 131 even-$Z$ isotones from Po to U was discussed in the frameworks of nuclear mass and reduced $\alpha$-decay width, a weakening octupole deformation in the ground state of $^{223}$U relative to its lighter isotones $^{219}$Ra and $^{221}$Th was suggested., Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures

This work briefly introduces our recent studies on reactions induced by proton drip-line nuclei,
8 B and17 F, at energies around the Coulomb barrier. Using detector arrays with large solid-angle coverage, the complete kinematics measurements were performed for systems of8 B+120 Sn and17 F+58 Ni. For the8 B+120 Sn, the coincident measurement of the breakup fragments was achieved for the first time for a proton-halo nuclear system. The correlations between the breakup fragments reveal that the prompt breakup occurring on the outgoing trajectory dominates the breakup dynamics of8 B. For17 F+58 Ni, the complete reaction channel information, such as quasi-elastic scattering, breakup and total fusion, was derived for the first time. An enhancement of the fusion cross section of17 F+58 Ni was observed at the energy below the Coulomb barrier. Theoretical calculations indicate that this phenomenon is mainly due to the couplings to the continuum states. Moreover, different direct reaction dynamics were found in8 B and17 F systems, suggesting the influence of proton-halo structure on the reaction dynamics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Reactions of weakly bound stable and unstable nuclei have been extensively investigated for several decades. Unique structural effects and breakup mechanisms of weakly bound nuclei have consistently been focal points in the research of nuclear physics, especially at energies around the Coulomb barrier. This paper will review the recent experimental researches performed by the Nuclear Reaction Group at the China Institute of Atomic Energy on weakly bound nuclear reactions in the near-barrier energy region. 6 He +208 Bi system has been observed. Results indicate that the dispersion relation cannot describe the relation between the real part and imaginary part of the optical potential. Moreover, breakup mechanisms of stable weakly bound nuclei6,7 Li as well as proton-rich nuclei17 F and8 B have been studied. Light dark matter in the context of dark sector theories is an attractive candidate for the dark matter thought to make up the bulk of the mass of our universe. We explore here the possibility of using a low-pressure, negative-ion, time projection chamber detector to search for light dark matter behind the beam dump of an electron accelerator. The sensitivity of a 10 m long detector is several orders of magnitude better than existing limits. This sensitivity includes regions of parameter space where light dark matter is predicted to have a required relic density consistent with measured dark matter density. Backgrounds at shallow depth will need to be considered carefully. However, several signatures exist, including a powerful directional signature, which will allow a detection even in the presence of backgrounds., Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures

Background: Beta-decay spectroscopy provides valuable nuclear physics input for thermonuclear reaction rates of astrophysical interest and stringent test for shell-model theories far from the stability line. Purpose: The available decay properties of proton drip-line nucleus $^{27}$S is insufficient to constrain the properties of the key resonance in $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate and probe the possible isospin asymmetry. The decay scheme of $^{27}$S is complicated and far from being understood, which has motivated but also presented challenges for our experiment. Method: The $^{27}$S ions were implanted into a double-sided silicon strip detector array surrounded by the high-purity germanium detectors, where the $\beta$-delayed protons and $\gamma$ rays were measured simultaneously. Results: The improved spectroscopic properties including the precise half-life of $^{27}$S, the excitation energies, $\beta$-decay branching ratios, log~$ft$ values, and $B$(GT) values for the states of $^{27}$P populated in the $\beta$ decay of $^{27}$S were measured and compared to the $^{27}$Mg mirror states and the shell-model calculations. The present work has expanded greatly on the previously established decay scheme of $^{27}$S. Conclusions: The precise proton-separation energy of $^{27}$P, the energy and the ratio between $\gamma$ and proton partial widths of the $3/2^+$ resonance were obtained, thereby determining the $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate based mainly on experimental constraints. The first evidence for the observation of a large isospin asymmetry for the mirror decays of $^{27}$S and $^{27}$Na is also provided. The experimental spectroscopic information can be reproduced by the shell-model calculation taking the weakly bound effect of the proton $1s_{1/2}$ orbit into account.

The mass of $^{27}$P was predicted to impact the X-ray burst (XRB) model predictions of burst light curves and the composition of the burst ashes. To address the uncertainties and inconsistencies in the reported $^{27}$P masses in literature, a wealth of information has been extracted from the $\beta$-decay spectroscopy of the drip-line nucleus $^{27}$S. We determine the most precise mass excess of $^{27}$P to date to be $-659(9)$~keV, which is 63~keV (2.3$\sigma$) higher than the AME2016 recommended value of $-722(26)$~keV. The experimentally unknown mass excess of $^{27}$S was estimated to be 17030(400)~keV in AME2016, and we constrain this mass to be 17678(77)~keV based on the measured $\beta$-delayed two-proton energy. In the temperature region of $(0.06-0.3)$~GK, the $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate determined in this work is significantly lower than the rate recommended in the reaction rate libraries, up to two orders of magnitude around 0.1~GK. The impact of these newly determined masses and well-constrained rate on the modeling of the explosive astrophysical scenarios has been explored by hydrodynamic nova and post-processing XRB models. No substantial change was found in the nova contribution to the synthesis of galactic $^{26}$Al or in the XRB energy generation rate, but we found that the calculated abundances of $^{26}$Al and $^{26}$Si at the last stage of XRB are increased by a factor of 2.4. We also conclude that $^{27}$S is not a significant waiting point in the rapid proton capture process.

Fragmentation cross section of $^{28}$Si + $^{9}$Be reaction at 75.8 MeV/u was analyzed for studying the decay mode of single-proton emission in $^{21}$Al (the proton-rich nucleus with neutron closed-shell of $N = 8$ and $T_z = -5/2$). With the comparison between the measured fragmentation cross section and the theoretical cross section produced by EPAX3.1a for the observed nuclei (i.e. $^{20}$Mg, $^{21}$Al and $^{22}$Si), the expected yield for a particle stable $^{21}$Al was estimated. With the exponential decay law, an upper limit of half-life of $13$ ns was determined. Using the single-proton penetration model, the upper limit of single-proton separation energy of $-105$ keV was deduced. This deduced mass limit agrees with the microscopic calculation based on nucleon-nucleon (NN) + three-nucleon (3N) forces in $sdf_{7/2}p_{3/2}$ valence space, which indicates the importance of 3N forces in $^{21}$Al., Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures

A cluster-transfer experiment $^9$Be($^9$Be,$^{14}$C$^*\rightarrow\alpha$+$^{10}$Be)$\alpha$ was carried out using an incident beam energy of 45 MeV. This reaction channel has a large $Q$-value that favors populating the high-lying states in $^{14}$C and separating various reaction channels. A number of resonant states are reconstructed from the forward emitting $^{10}$Be + $\alpha$ fragments with respect to three sets of well discriminated final states in $^{10}$Be, most of which agree with the previous observations. A state at 22.5(1) MeV in $^{14}$C is found to decay predominantly into the states around 6 MeV in $^{10}$Be daughter nucleus, in line with the unique property of the predicted band head of the $\sigma$-bond linear-chain molecular states. 34. Dynamical signature of fractionalization at a deconfined quantum critical point

Deconfined quantum critical points govern continuous quantum phase transitions at which fractionalized (deconfined) degrees of freedom emerge. Here we study dynamical signatures of the fractionalized excitations in a quantum magnet (the easy-plane J-Q model) that realize a deconfined quantum critical point with emergent O(4) symmetry. By means of large-scale quantum Monte Carlo simulations and stochastic analytic continuation of imaginary-time correlation functions, we obtain the dynamic spin-structure factors in the Sx and Sz channels. In both channels, we observe broad continua that originate from the deconfined excitations. We further identify several distinct spectral features of the deconfined quantum critical point, including the lower edge of the continuum and its form factor on moving through the Brillouin zone. We provide field-theoretical and lattice model calculations that explain the overall shapes of the computed spectra, which highlight the importance of interactions and gauge fluctuations to explain the spectral-weight distribution. We make further comparisons with the conventional Landau O(2) transition in a different quantum magnet, at which no signatures of fractionalization are observed. The distinctive spectral signatures of the deconfined quantum critical point suggest the feasibility of its experimental detection in neutron scattering and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments.

Astrophysical reactions involving radioactive isotopes (RI) often play an important role in high-temperature stellar environments. The experimental information on those reactions is still limited mainly due to the technical difficulties in producing high-quality and intense RI beams. Although a direct measurement of those reactions at astrophysical energy would be still challenging, we may take several alternative approaches to determine the reaction rates, by applying other mesurement methods or improving the target and detectors. Here we mainly discuss the thick-target method in inverse kinematics (TTIK) based on the successful examples of experimental studies performed at Center for Nuclear Study, the University of Tokyo, using the low-energy RI beam separator CRIB. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
The decay of the proton-rich nucleus $^{22}$Si was studied by a silicon array coupled with germanium clover detectors. Nine charged-particle groups are observed and most of them are recognized as $\beta$-delayed proton emission. A charged-particle group at 5600 keV is identified experimentally as $\beta$-delayed two-proton emission from the isobaric analog state of $^{22}$Al. Another charged-particle emission without any $\beta$ particle at the low energy less than 300 keV is observed. The half-life of $^{22}$Si is determined as 27.5 (18) ms. The experimental results of $\beta$-decay of $^{22}$Si are compared and in nice agreement with shell-model calculations. The mass excess of the ground state of $^{22}$Si deduced from the experimental data shows that three-nucleon (3N) forces with repulsive contributions have significant effects on nuclei near the proton drip line., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
The $\beta$ decay of the drip-line nucleus $^{20}$Mg gives important information on resonances in $^{20}$Na, which are relevant for the astrophysical $rp$-process. A detailed $\beta$ decay spectroscopic study of $^{20}$Mg was performed by a continuous-implantation method. A detection system was specially developed for charged-particle decay studies, giving improved spectroscopic information including the half-life of $^{20}$Mg, the excitation energies, the branching ratios, and the log $ft$ values for the states in $^{20}$Na populated in the $\beta$ decay of $^{20}$Mg. A new proton branch was observed and the corresponding excited state in $^{20}$Na was proposed. The large isospin asymmetry for the mirror decays of $^{20}$Mg and $^{20}$O was reproduced, as well. However, no conclusive conclusion can be draw about the astrophysically interesting 2645~keV resonance in $^{20}$Na due to the limited statistics.

A cluster-transfer experiment of $^9\rm{Be}(^9\rm{Be},^{14}\rm{C}\rightarrow\alpha+^{10}\rm{Be})\alpha$ at an incident energy of 45 MeV was carried out in order to investigate the molecular structure in high-lying resonant states in $^{14}$C. This reaction is of extremely large $Q$-value, making it an excellent case to select the reaction mechanism and the final states in outgoing nuclei. The high-lying resonances in $^{14}$C are reconstructed for three sets of well discriminated final states in $^{10}$Be. The results confirm the previous decay measurements with clearly improved decay-channel selections and show also a new state at 23.5(1) MeV. The resonant states at 22.4(3) and 24.0(3) MeV decay primarily into the typical molecular states at about 6 MeV in $^{10}$Be, indicating a well developed cluster structure in these high-lying states in $^{14}$C. The fusion dynamic mechanism of heavy-ions at energies near the Coulomb barrier is complicated and still not very clear up to now. Accordingly, a self-consistent method based on the CCFULL calculations has been developed and applied for an ingoing study of the effect of the positive Q-value neutron transfer (PQNT) channels in this work. The typical experimental fusion data of Ca + Ca and Ni + Ni is analyzed within the unified calculation scheme. The PQNT effect in near-barrier fusion is further confirmed based on the self-consistent analysis and extracted quantitatively.

Timosaponin AIII (TAIII), as a steroid saponin from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge, possesses a similar structure with cholesterol and exhibits a wide range of antitumor activities, making it possible to develop a TAIII-based liposome where TAIII could potentially stabilize the phospholipid bilayer as a substitution of cholesterol and work as a chemotherapeutic drug as well. Meanwhile, TAIII could enhance the uptake of doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells and exhibit synergistic effect. Thus, we designed a novel thermally sensitive multifunctional liposomal system composed of TAIII and lipids to deliver DOX for enhanced HCC treatment.Methods: The synergistic effects of DOX and TAIII were explored on HCC cells and the tumor inhibition rate of TAIII-based liposomes carrying DOX was evaluated on both subcutaneous and orthotopic transplantation tumor models. TAIII-based multifunctional liposomes were characterized.Results: Synergistic HCC cytotoxicity was achieved at molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4 of DOX/TAIII. TAIII-based liposomes carrying a low DOX dose of 2 mg/kg exhibited significantly enhanced antitumor activity than 5 mg/kg of DOX without detected cardiotoxicity on both subcutaneous and orthotopic transplantation tumor models. TAIII-based liposomes were characterized with smaller size than cholesterol liposomes but exhibited favorable stability. Mild hyperthermia generated by laser irradiation accelerated the release of DOX and TAIII from liposomes at tumor site, and cell permeability of TAIII enhanced uptake of DOX in HCC cells.Conclusion: The innovative application of TAIII working as bilayer stabilizer and chemotherapeutic drug affords a stable multifunctional liposomal delivery system for synergistic therapy against HCC, which may be referred for the development of other types of saponins with similar property.Keywords: doxorubicin, timosaponin AIII, liposomes, hepatocellular carcinoma, cholesterol

45. A Systematic Evaluation of Noah-MP in Simulating Land-Atmosphere Energy, Water, and Carbon Exchanges Over the Continental United States

Accurate simulation of energy, water, and carbon fluxes exchanging between the land surface and the atmosphere is beneficial for improving terrestrial ecohydrological and climate predictions. We systematically assessed the Noah land surface model (LSM) with mutiparameterization options (Noah-MP) in simulating these fluxes and associated variations in terrestrial water storage (TWS) and snow cover fraction (SCF) against various reference products over 18 United States Geological Survey two-digital hydrological unit code regions of the continental United States (CONUS). In general, Noah-MP captures better the observed seasonal and interregional variability of net radiation, SCF, and runoff than other variables. With a dynamic vegetation model, it overestimates gross primary productivity by 40% and evapotranspiration (ET) by 22% over the whole CONUS domain; however, with a prescribed climatology of leaf area index, it greatly improves ET simulation with relative bias dropping to 4%. It accurately simulates regional TWS dynamics in most regions except those with large lakes or severely affected by irrigation and/or impoundments. Incorporating the lake water storage variations into the modeled TWS variations largely reduces the TWS simulation bias more obviously over the Great Lakes with model efficiency increasing from 0.18 to 0.76. Noah-MP simulates runoff well in most regions except an obvious overestimation (underestimation) in the Rio Grande and Lower Colorado (New England). Compared with North American Land Data Assimilation System Phase 2 (NLDAS-2) LSMs, Noah-MP shows a better ability to simulate runoff and a comparable skill in simulating Rn but a worse skill in simulating ET over most regions. This study suggests that future model developments should focus on improving the representations of vegetation dynamics, lake water storage dynamics, and human activities including irrigation and impoundments.

Implicit neural representations INRs aim to learn a continuous function i e a neural network to represent an image where the input and output of the function are pixel coordinates and RGB Gray values respectively However images tend to consist of many objects whose colors are not perfectly consistent resulting in the challenge that image is actually a discontinuous piecewise function and cannot be well estimated by a continuous function In this paper we empirically investigate that if a neural network is enforced to fit a discontinuous piecewise function to reach a fixed small error the time costs will increase exponentially with respect to the boundaries in the spatial domain of the target signal We name this phenomenon the exponential increase hypothesis Under the exponential increase hypothesis learning INRs for images with many objects will converge very slowly To address this issue we first prove that partitioning a complex signal into several sub regions and utilizing piecewise INRs to fit that signal can significantly speed up the convergence Based on this fact we introduce a simple partition mechanism to boost the performance of two INR methods for image reconstruction one for learning INRs and the other for learning to learn INRs In both cases we partition an image into different sub regions and dedicate smaller networks for each part In addition we further propose two partition rules based on regular grids and semantic segmentation maps respectively Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed partitioning methods in terms of learning INR for a single image ordinary learning framework and the learning to learn framework Code is released here

However, prodrugs constructed by covalent modification of anticancer drugs can overcome these limitations, which are able to release its active form after entering the tumor tissues by specific stimulus response.Methods: A GSH-responsive glyco-nanoprodrug system has been constructed by self-assembled of amphiphilic lactosemodified camptothecin prodrug molecular (Lac-SS-CPT) for targeting drug delivery and combination therapy.Results: Using HL7702 cells as experimental models, the cytotoxic effects of Lac-SS-CPT were investigated to 10– 30 μmol/L for 48 hours. Notably, the cell viability of Lac-SS-CPT to HL7702 cells was higher compared with free CPT which indicated that Lac-SS-CPT can reduce side-effects. Simultaneously, we have evaluated the anticancer efficiency of doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX)-loaded Lac-SS-CPT glyco-nanoprodrug system (Lac-SS-CPT@DOX), where Lac-SS-CPT@DOX and free DOX incubated with HpeG2 cells and HL7702 cells for 24, 48, and 72 hours, respectively. It turned out that Lac-SS-CPT@DOX encapsulated anticancer drug (DOX) could decrease DOX side-effect on HL7702 cells and increase DOX anticancer efficiency. More importantly, the CPT and DOX were released from Lac-SS-CPT@DOX in HepG2 cells where a higher GSH concentration exists. Moreover, combination therapy efficiency was evaluated, where free DOX and Lac-SS-CPT@DOX incubated with DOX-resistance HepG2 cells (HepG2-ADR cells), respectively.Conclusion: The results revealed that the Lac-SS-CPT@DOX could enhance the cytotoxicity of DOX for HepG2-ADR cells and provided a new idea for designing an advanced nano-prodrug system toward combination therapy.Keywords: nanoprodrug, target, GSH-responsive, drug delivery, combination chemotherapy
