31. Proteomic analysis of Corylus heterophylla fisch in Changbai Mountain by shotgun approach

Abstract

Total proteins of Changbai Mountain hazelnut were extracted and then enzymolysed in solution. The mixture of peptides was separated on chromatograph and identified by shotgun proteomics approach. The identified proteins were analyzed by bioinformatics, 303 proteins were identified, of which 237 proteins (78.2%) were mainly distributing in a range of 10-70 kDa and 85 proteins (28.1%) were around pI 5-6. Based on the biological process cellular component and molecular function, these proteins were classified by Gene Ontology, the results showed that 183 proteins (73.8%) had catalytic activity (e.g. oxidoreductase, kinase, peptidase, etc.), and 170 proteins (68.5%) had binding activity. The protein profile provided a valuable basis for further research of hazelnut proteins and opened up new research avenues related to the function of these proteins.

35. Executive functions in children with developmental language disorder: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Abstract

Background: The purpose of the current study was to assess the differences between children with developmental language disorder (DLD) and typically developing (TD) children in their performance of executive functions from working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility., Methods: We performed a systematical search of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science for case control studies (published in English between January 1, 1950, and October 11, 2023) comparing the differences in the performance of executive functions between DLD and TD children., Results: Forty eligible studies were included in the present study ( N  = 3,168 participants). In comparison with TD children, DLD children exhibited significantly poorer performances in all six verbal working memory tasks (backward digit recall task, SMD -1.4321, 95% CI -2.2692 to -0.5950; listening recall task, SMD -1.4469, 95% CI -1.7737 to -1.1202; counting recall task, SMD -0.9192, 95% CI -1.4089 to -0.4295; digit recall task, SMD -1.2321, 95% CI -1.4397 to -1.0244; word list recall task, SMD -1.1375, 95% CI -1.5579 to -0.7171; non-word recall task, SMD -1.5355, 95% CI -1.8122 to -1.2589). However, regarding inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility, the differences between DLD and TD children depended on specific circumstances. Abstract

Objective: To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) in improving ischemic stroke., Methods: The Wistar rat model of focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion was prepared by the thread embolism method. The rats were randomly divided into a normal group, a model group, and an EA group. EA was given at bilateral "Hegu" (LI 4) in rats of the EA group. Expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA was detected with hybridization in situ, and expressions of the angiogenin-1 (Ang-1) and endostatin proteins were detected with the immunohistochemical method., Results: As compared with the normal group, the expressions of VEGF mRNA, Ang-1 protein and endostatin protein significantly increased in the model group (all P < 0.05); and when compared with the model group, the EA group showed even more significant increase in expressions of the VEGF mRNA and Ang-1 protein (both P < 0.05), but with an obvious decline in the increase of expression of endostatin protein (P < 0.05)., Conclusions: EA can promote angiogenesis in brain of experimental cerebral ischemic rats after reperfusion probably through up-regulating the expression of angiogenesis factors and down-regulating the expression of anti-angiogenesis factors.
