MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small regulatory non-coding RNAs that have been reported to play an important role in a variety of cellular functions. Recent studies indicated that some miRNAs are involved in regulating endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress adaptation. However, the miRNAs were still unknown in osteosarcoma. In this study, we demonstrated that miR-1281 induced by ER stress promoted cell apoptosis and decreased ER stress adaptation of osteosarcoma in vitro and in vivo. Further mechanistic studies revealed that p53, an important tumor suppressor, directly bound to the promoter of miR-1281, leading to its increase under ER stress. Additionally, our data suggest that USP39 was the target of miR-1281 and participated in ER stress-induced cell apoptosis. Thus, our findings suggest a new role for miR-1281 in osteosarcoma and suggest that the p53-dependent, miR-1281-mediated USP39 pathway inhibits the survival of human osteosarcoma cells under ER stress.

Histone phosphorylation is instrumental in regulating diverse cellular processes across eukaryotes. Unraveling the kinases that target specific histone sites is key to deciphering the underlying mechanisms. Among the various sites on histone tails that can undergo phosphorylation, the kinase responsible for H3.3S31 phosphorylation remained elusive. Since both H3.3S31ph and H3T3ph occur specifically during mitosis, and Haspin is the known kinase for H3T3 phosphorylation, we investigated its potential role in H3.3S31 phosphorylation. We employed CRISPR/Cas9, RNA interference, and specific small molecule inhibitors to eliminate Haspin function in various cell types. Our data consistently revealed a link between Haspin and H3.3S31ph. Furthermore, in vitro kinase assays provided evidence supporting Haspin's contribution to H3.3S31ph. Loss‐ and gain‐of‐function experiments targeting Haspin and Aurora B further suggested a hierarchical relationship. Haspin acts as a downstream kinase of Aurora B, specifically orchestrating H3.3S31 phosphorylation in mESCs. This study unveils a novel role for Haspin as a kinase in regulating H3.3S31 phosphorylation during mitosis. Rapid urbanization has led to ecosystem fragmentation, conversion, and degradation, posing great threats to natural habitat and biodiversity. The utilization of ecological networks has gained importance in ecological restoration planning to mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization on ecosystems. This study focused on Nanchang City, China, as a case study area to examine the application of integrated ecological networks in 2000, 2010 and 2020. This study analyzed the dynamic characteristics and spatial differences in landscape connectivity, providing evidence-based support for ecological conservation and restoration. The results indicate the following: (1) a decrease in the number of ecological sources and corridors, especially general sources and corridors, along with a decreasing trend in their importance; (2) an increase in ecological barrier points and breakpoints over time, especially in the southeastern region of the study area; and (3) the identification of ecological conservation priority areas, ecological improvement priority areas, and ecological restoration points based on connectivity and dynamic analysis. Multiple priority actions were proposed, which remarkably improved network connectivity and strengthened biodiversity conservation. Our research provides a valuable reference for identifying ecological priorities and developing ecological protection and ecological restoration actions in highly urbanized areas. Deltas are crucial for land building and ecological services due to their ability to store mineral sediment, carbon and potential pollutants. A decline in suspended sediment discharge in large rivers caused by the construction of mega‐dams might imperil deltaic flats and wetlands. However, there has not been clear evidence of a sedimentary shift in the downstream tidal flats that feed coastal wetlands and the intertidal zone with sediments. Here, integrated intertidal/subaqueous sediment samples, multi‐year bathymetries, fluvial and deltaic hydrological and sediment transport data in the Nanhui tidal flats and Nanhui Shoal in the Changjiang (Yangtze) Delta, one of the largest mega‐deltas in the world, were analysed to discern how sedimentary environments changed in response to the operations of the Three Gorges Dam. Results reveal that the coarser sediment fractions of surficial sediments in the subaqueous Nanhui Shoal increased between 2004 to 2021, and the overall grain size coarsened from 18.5 to 27.3 μm. Moreover, intertidal sediments in cores coarsened by 25% after the 1990s. During that period, the northern part of the Nanhui Shoal suffered large‐scale erosion, while the southern part accreted in recent decades. Reduced suspended sediment discharge of the Changjiang River combined with local resuspension of fine‐grained sediments are responsible for tidal flat erosion. This study found that the spatial pattern of grain‐size parameters has shifted from crossing the bathymetric isobaths to being parallel to them. Higher tide level and tidal range induced by sea‐level rise, an upstream increase in bed shear stress and larger waves likely further exacerbated erosion and sediment coarsening in deltaic flats. As a result, this sediment‐starved estuary coupled with sea‐level rise and artificial reclamations have enhanced the vulnerability of tidal flats in Changjiang Delta, this research is informative to the sedimentary shift of worldwide mega‐deltas. How digital economy (DE) empowers high-quality development of tourism (HQDT) has become a common concern among scholars. Given this, this study clarifies the theoretical connotation of DE enabling HQDT,and finds that: Micro, DE promotes efficiency improvements in tourism enterprises, with its economies of scale and Matthew effect reducing average costs, its economies of scope meeting diversified demand, and its long-tail effect improving supply-demand matching mechanism. Meso, DE can transform and upgrade tourism industry structure through industrial digitization and digital industrialization, and also form a new tourist industry form and value chain through cross-border integration. Macro, DE can stimulate innovation and flexibility of market players, increase new factor inputs in tourism, improve factor allocation efficiency, and advance macro regulation of the tourism market. Accordingly, the study conducts an empirical test based on panel data for 31 provinces in mainland China during 2011–2020. Results show that: ① DE positively influences HQDT, and the sub-dimensions all positively influence HQDT. ② DE has a heterogeneous impact on HQDT and shows spatial spillover effects. Finally, the study concludes with effective paths for DE promoting HQDT: "Promote digital infrastructure construction, accelerate tourism digital transformation, strengthen integration and innovation development, and overcome the challenges of tourism enterprises". Catalytic destruction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) combined with dust removal technique has attracted much attention, yet the application in the solid waste incineration air pollution control process is still lacking due to the complex flue gas atmosphere. In this work, the Mn-Ce-Co-Ox catalyst–coated polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) filter fiber with efficient dust removal and low-temperature polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) destruction has been prepared with a redox-precipitation method. The catalyst was uniformly grown around the PPS fiber with appropriate catalyst loading. The effects of several key operating parameters (e.g., reaction temperature, catalyst loading amount, and filtration velocity) on the catalytic efficiency were comprehensively investigated. The results show that the Mn-Ce-Co-Ox/PPS has a decomposition yield of 78.0% in PCDD/Fs and 96% in nitric oxide (NO) conversion at 200 °C. The poisoned catalytic filter exhibits a removal efficiency of 88.6% for PCDD/Fs. In addition, the catalytic filter can completely reject particles smaller than 1.0 μm with a low filtration resistance. Therefore, this efficient and energy-conserving catalytic filter shows promising applications in flue gas pollution treatments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
