Purpose of Review This expert opinion, prepared by a panel of chest disease specialists, aims to review the current knowledge on practice patterns in real-life management of mild asthma and to address the relevant updates in asthma treatment by The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to guide clinicians for the best clinical practice in applying these new treatment paradigms. Recent Findings On the basis of the emerging body of evidence suggesting the non-safety of short-acting beta 2-agonists (SABA)-only therapy and comparable efficacy of the as-needed inhaled corticosteroids (ICS)-formoterol combinations with maintenance ICS regimens, GINA recently released their updated Global Strategy for Asthma Management and Prevention Guide (2019). The new GINA 2019 recommendations no longer support the SABA-only therapy in mild asthma but instead includes new off-label recommendations such as symptom-driven (as-needed) low-dose ICS-formoterol and "low dose ICS taken whenever SABA is taken." The GINA 2019 asthma treatment recommendations include a major shift from long-standing approach of clinical practice regarding the use of symptom-driven SABA treatment alone in the management of mild asthma. This expert opinion supports the transition from a long-standing SABA-only approach to a risk reduction-based strategy, with the use of symptom-driven (as-needed) low-dose ICS/LABA in mild asthma patients, particularly in those with poor adherence to controller medications. The thoughtful and comprehensive approach of clinicians to these strategies is important, given that the exact far-reaching impact of this major change in management of mild asthma in the real-world settings will only be clarified over time.

Çalışma, 2005-2018 yılları arasında fen eğitimi alanında teknoloji kullanımı üzerine yapılan makale ve tezlerin içerik analizine tabi tutularak hazırlanmıştır. Örneklemin belirlenmesinde ölçüt örnekleme tekniği kullanılmış ve ölçüt olarak 2005 yılından itibaren belirlenen indekslerde taranan makale ve tezler örneklemi oluşturmuştur. 2005 yılının ölçüt alınmasının nedeni yapılandırmacı eğitim yaklaşımının benimsenmesi ile öğrencilerin aktif kılınmasının amaçlanması, bu doğrultuda öğretimde kullanılan araç, gereç, yöntem çeşitliliğinin artmış olmasıdır. Verilerin çözümlenme sürecinde kodlama çerçevesi geliştirilmiş, belirlenen makale ve tezlerin kategorilere göre sınıflandırılması sonrasında her bir alt kategoriye ait frekanslar ve yüzdelikler tablolaştırılarak incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda genel olarak araştırmalara temel olan konuların; fen eğitiminde teknoloji entegrasyonu, bilgisayar destekli öğretim, web tasarım, akıllı tahta kullanımı, ölçek geliştirme, fen programlarının karşılaştırması ve kitap incelemesi olarak toplandığı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmadaki çalışmaların yarıdan fazlasında nicel paradigmanın temel alındığı; karma model kullanım oranının ise nicel ve nitel paradigmaya göre düşük oranda kullanıldığı saptanmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarının incelenmesi sonucunda ise büyük oranda başarı testleri, ölçekler ve görüşme formunun tercih edildiği bulgulanmıştır.

Introduction: In this study, we aimed to determine the values of anthropometric measurements and rates used in the evaluation of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in our country. Materials and Methods: Twenty accredited sleep centers in thirteen provinces participated in this multicenter prospective study. OSAS symptoms and polysomnographic examination and apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) ≥ 5 cases OSAS study group; patients with AHI < 5 and STOP-Bang < 2 were included as control group. Demographic characteristics (age, sex, body mass index-BMI) and anthropometric measurements (neck, waist and hip circumference, waist/hip ratio) of the subjects were recorded. Results: The study included 2684 patients (81.3% OSAS) with a mean age of 50.50 ± 0.21 years from 20 centers. The cases were taken from six geographical regions of the country (Mediterranean, Eastern Anatolia, Aegean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea and Marmara Region). Demographic characteristics and anthropometric measurements; age, neck, waist, hip circumference and waist/ hip ratios and BMI characteristics when compared with the control group; when compared according to regions, age, neck, waist, hip circumference and waist/hip ratios were found to be statistically different (p< 0.001, p< 0.001, p< 0.05, respectively). When compared by sex, age, neck and hip circumference, waist/hip ratio, height, weight and BMI characteristics were statistically different (p< 0.001, respectively). Neck circumference and waist/hip ratio were respectively 42.58 ± 0.10 cm, 0.99 ± 0.002, 39.24 ± 0.16 cm, 0.93 ± 0.004 were found in women. Conclusion: The neck circumference was lower than the standard value in men, but higher in women. The waist/hip ratio was above the ideal measurements in both men and women. In this context, the determination of the country values will allow the identification of patients with the possibility of OSAS and referral to sleep centers for polysomnography. © Telif Hakkı 2019 Tüberküloz ve Toraks.

The research aimed to determine the views and expectations of pre-service teachers studying in the field of classroom teaching, practice teachers in practice schools, and faculty members responsible for courses related to teaching practice regarding teaching practice processes. The research was designed as a case study from qualitative research designs. The study group consists of 36 female and 9 male, aged between 21 and 25, totally of 45 pre-service teachers; 16 female and 30 male, aged between 30 and 51, totally of 46 practice teachers; 4 female and 7 male, aged between 30 and 51, totally of 11 faculty members. The data was collected in writing with separate forms for pre-service teachers, practice teachers, and faculty members. The data was analyzed by thematic analysis. The results of the research suggest that the existing operation regarding the university-school collaboration is insufficient and those pre-service teachers have the expectation to increase the practice courses in terms of number and duration. It is thought that the interaction between the university and the school should be improved in all aspects. This research is expected to be a guide for revealing expectations of related parties and improving the process during the teaching practice. Bu çalışma, İngilizce yabancı dil öğrenimi sınıflarında otantik okuma metninin tesadüfi kelime öğreniminin geliştirilmesi açısından basitleştirilmiş okuma metninden daha etkili olup olmadığını inceliyor. Otantik ve basitleştirilmiş hikâyelerin okunmasından sonra orta seviyede gelişi güzel bölünmüş iki grubun kelime öğrenimi ve kalıcılığını; eşleştirme, cümle tamamlama ve cümle oluşturma testleriyle karşılaştırdık. Ön test, son test ve ertelenmiş son test sonuçları bize her iki grubun da kelime öğrenimi ve kullanımı açısından gelişim gösterdiğini ancak otantik metnin verildiği deney grubunun daha yüksek puanlara ulaştığını gösterdi. Dolayısıyla; otantik metnin sadeleştirme olmadan orta seviyedeki öğrenciler için yararlı olduğu kanıtlandı çünkü etkileşim ve zengin içerik dikkatle birleştiğinde daha iyi bir kelime öğrenimine yol açıyor. This study examines whether authentic reading texts are more effective than simplified reading texts in improving incidental vocabulary learning in instructed foreign language classes. We compared the vocabulary development and retention of randomly divided two intermediate level groups through matching, sentence completion and production tasks after reading authentic story and simplified authentic story. Results of the pre-test, post-test and delayed post-test showed us that both of the groups could boost their vocabulary knowledge and usage however, experimental group given authentic text, achieved higher scores in all tests. Consequently; authentic text has been proved to be beneficial for the students at intermediate level without simplification, as the rich input together with interaction and attention leads to better vocabulary development. 93

This study aims to investigate primary school students' success and failure in science courses. The participants of the study included 24 students enrolled in the 8th grade of a secondary school and focus group interviews were held. It was observed in the study that the successful students focused more on science and mathematics classes, while the unsuccessful students did more on verbal classes. Considering the topics the successful group considered related to the science class, the students in the successful group focused on the knowledge that made their life easier and that they could use in their life, while the unsuccessful group paid more attention to the importance of the topic. Moreover, it was observed that both groups used similar learning strategies. According to the findings of the study, it can be claimed that the interest and the support of the family and social environment play an important role in success in science class. Bu araştırma aile içi şiddete yönelik verilen psikoeğitim programının şiddete ilişkin tutuma ve aile işlevselliğine olan etkisini değerlendirmek amacıyla tasarlanan ön test - son test uygulamalı eğitim müdahalesi olan kesitsel ve tanımlayıcı tipte bir alan araştırmasıdır.Araştırma, İzmir ilindeki belediyelere bağlı kadın dayanışma merkezlerine (İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkesi, Karşıyaka Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Gaziemir Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Bornova Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Buca Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Çiğli Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Narlıdere Belediyesi Pakize Ateş Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Konak Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi, Balçova Belediyesi Kadın Dayanışma Merkezi) psikolojik danışmanlık almak amacıyla başvuran evli, 15-49 yaş arasındaki 40 kadına Ağustos 2013- Kasım2013 tarihleri arasında uygulanmıştır.Psikoeğitim öncesinde kadınlara, Sosyo-demografik ve Şiddet Öyküsüne İlişkin Veri Toplama Formu, Aile İçi Şiddete Yönelik Bilgi Formu, Kadına Uygulanan Şiddete İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği ve Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra toplam 6 oturumdan oluşan ve ayda iki kez olmak üzere düzenlenen grup eğitimi uygulanmıştır. Psikoeğitim sonrasında Aile İçi Şiddete Yönelik Bilgi Formu, Kadına Uygulanan Şiddete İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği ve Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği tekrar uygulanmıştır.Psikoeğitim öncesinde, KUŞİTÖ uygulanan kadınların tutum puanları (X̅= 42.40±16.53), ölçek ortalamasının (X̅=57) altında olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sonuç da kadınların tutum yaklaşımlarının modern eğilim gösterdiğini göstermiştir.Psikoeğitim sonrasında KUŞİTÖ uygulanan kadınların tutum ortalamaları (X̅=30.62±6.72), ön test tutum ortalamalarına göre anlamlı düzeyde düşme göstermiştir (p0.05).Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda; Kadına şiddete yönelik verilen psikoeğitimin etkinliği değerlendirmeye yönelik çalışmaların İzmir ili dışındaki kadın dayanışma merkezlerinde de yapılması, kadına şiddete yönelik verilen psikoeğitimin etkinliğini değerlendirmeye yönelik örneklem sayısının daha büyük olduğu çalışmalar yapılması, psikiyatri hemşirelerinin kadına yönelik şiddet konusunda bilgilendirme ve tutum değişikliği sağlamada psikoeğitimi kullanmaları konusunda bilgilendirilmesi ve eğitilmesi önerilebilir. This research is crosssectional, descriptive field research which has practical pre-test - last test training invention and is designed in order to evaluate the effect of psychoeducation program, which is given intended for domestic violence, on family functioning and attitudes.The research has been applied to aged between 14 and 49, 40 women who applied to women's solidarity center connected to municipality in izmir (izmir Metropolitan Municipality Women's Solidarity center, Karşıyaka Municipality Women's Solidarity Center, Çankaya Municipality Women's Solidarity Center, Bornova Municipality Women's Solidarity Center, Buca Municipality Women's Solidarity Center, Karşıyaka Municipality Women's Solidarity Center, Bornova Municipality Pakize Ateş Women's Solidarity Center, Konak Municipality Women's solidarity Center, Balçova Municipality of Women's Solidarity center) with the aim of taking psychological consultancy between August 2013 and November 2013 dates.Before psychoeducation, socio-demographic and data collection form relating to violence story, information form intended to domestic violence, attitude scale concerning to violence against women and family assessment scale have been applied to women. Later, group education which is composing of a total of sessions and being organized twice per month has been applied. After psychoeducation, information form intended to domestic violence, attitude scale concerning to violence against women and family assesment scale have been applied again.Before psychoeducation, It has been seen that attitude points of the women (X̅= 42.40±16.53) who attitude scale concerning to violence against woman has been applied were below scale averages (X̅=57), So this result has showed that attitude approach of the women exhibited a modern tendency.After psychoeducation attitude averages of the women (X̅=30.62±6.72) who attitude scale concerning to violence against women has been applied have declined significantly(p>0.05).In direction of these results, it could be recommended to the studies in order to evaluate effectiveness of psychoeducation which is given intended to violence against women, is done also in Women's Solidarity centers outside izmir, the studies which the number of samples is greater in order to evaluate effectiveness of psychoeducation which is given intended to violence against woman is done, psychiatric nurses are informed and educated on the subject of using psychoeducation to provide informing about violence against women and an attitude change. 78

Sustainability is a term that presented itself especially in the late 1970s, when there was a considerable increase in environmental problems. In general, it can be defined as satisfying the present requirements with a consideration into future needs without using up natural resources. It is clear that education is part of the process of achieving it. Accordingly, sustainable environmental education includes enabling individuals to gain an awareness of environmental issues, to attain certain values and attitudes, and to adopt positive behaviours. The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale regarding sustainable environmental education. The study was implemented on a total of 409 prospective teachers at Ahi Evran University. It was based on the 5-point Likert scale and consisted of 29 items. The data were transferred to the SPSS 15.0. Afterwards, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted on the data. The analysis yielded that the scale had three dimensions. In addition, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the scale was found to be 0.944. Key words: behaviour scale, sustainable environmental education, scale development.

Objective: This study was planned to evaluate our approach to latent tuberculosis infection in patients who are given anti-tumornecrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) therapy.

Sanatsal gelenekleri uzun bir tarihe sahip olan Japonya, güzellik ve özgünlüğün farklı formlarını, kökenleri oldukça sağlam bir yapıda sunmuş ve bunu her periyodta devam ettirmiştir. Geleneğe bağlılığı ve korumacı yapısıyla bilinen Japon Kültürü, mekanik ve modern bir anlatım biçimi olan Fotoğraf Sanatını, icadından kısa bir süre sonra tanışmasının ardından her dönemde, sanatsal ifadelerinin bir parçası halinde fotoğrafı kullanmıştır. Dönem olarak 1945 sonrası Japon Fotoğrafının üzerinde durma sebebimiz, fotoğrafın modern anlatısına vizyon vermesidir. Dolayısıyla teknik ve estetik bir bütünlük söz konusudur. 1945 Sonrası Japon Fotoğrafını Oluşturan Etkenler yaklaşımını anlayabilmek için Japon görselliğinin ve düşüncesinin öncesine bakmak faydalı olacaktır. Tezimizin birinci bölümünde bu tarihsel vizyon, Japon Kültüründe fotoğraf sanatının gelişimi, süreç içindeki dönüşümü ve günümüzdeki yeri, sistemli bir araştırmaya dayalı olarak sunulmuştur. Japon kültürü, siyasal ve toplumsal yapısı, sanatsal üretim biçimleri ve modernleşme sürecinde gerçekleşen atılımlarla oluşan fotoğraf endüstrisine değinilmiş ve teknolojik gelişim ile fotografik ifade arasındaki ilişki belirlenmiştir. Japon kültürüne ve inanışlarına yönelik anahtar ögeler oluşturulmuş ve bu disiplinlerin fotoğraf sanatına yansımalarına değinilmiştir. Batıdan alınan bir teknolojinin Japonya'daki örnekleri karşılaştırmalı olarak aktarılmış ve Japonizm akımının batıya etkisinden bahsedilmiştir. Japon Sanatının Savaş sonrası travmatik yapısı üzerinde genel bir betimleme yapılmış ve bu süreçte çoğunlukla batıyla eş zamanlı olarak oluşan fotografik anlatım biçimleri ve nedenleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Postmodern dönemde oluşan tavrın ülke üzerindeki etkileri ve Japon geleneklerinin bu ifadelere yansımaları günümüz izlenimleriyle de aktarılmış ve tarihsel açıdan öncü isimler belirlenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda yüzyıllarca geleneksel sanatı benimsemiş bir toplumun batıyla, arkasından fotoğraf sanatıyla olan bağlantılarını belirleyerek, bu ifade biçiminin bir toplumun dönüşüm sürecine nasıl bir tanıklığı olduğuna dair sonuçlara yer verilmiştir. Japanese culture, known as to be sticked with the tradition and protectionist structure, has used photography art which has a mechanical and modern expression form. Shortly after introduced with the photography after its invention, Japan has managed photography as a part of its artistic statement in every period. The reason for emphasising Japanese photography after 1945 in consequence of give visions to photography's modern narration. Correspondingly technical and aesthetical unity is a point according to this issue. For underdstanding the approach to the factors of japanese photography Post- 1945, checking out the early japanese visuality and its reflections would be benefical. This historical vision, developing photography art in japanese culture, transforming in its process and its place in present were presented in my fist part of the thesis in order to a systematic research. Japanese culture, political and social structure, artistic production forms and developing photography industry via reforms by modernization period were mentioned and the relation between technological development and photographic expression was determined. The key points of japanese culture and beliefs were generated and the reflections of these disciplines to the photography art were dealt with. Technology that has taken from the western world and its Japanese samples were were presented in comparison and effects of japanism to the western world was mentioned. Traumatic structure of japanese art after war was depicted and in this process, photographic expression forms that was composed mostly simultaneously with western world and its reasons were stressed. The effects of the attitude that formed in the postmodern period, the reflections of japanese traditions to these expressions were discussed with present impression and pioneers in order to historical angle were determined. As a result of the researchs, it has been concluded that, connections to the western world and photography art of a society which has embraced with its tradition for hundreds of years were assessed. And how this expression form was witnessed to a transforming society as a consequnce. Gelişmekte olan bir ülke olarak Türkiye'de işgücü kalitesinin ve sayısının giderek artması öte yandan iş bulmada yaşanan sıkıntılar bireylerin kendilerine uygun olmayan işlerde çalışmalarına sebebiyet verebilmektedir. Kendini yaptığı işin gerektirdiklerinden çok daha fazla niteliğe sahip olarak görmek kişinin iş hayatına farklı açılardan bakmasınaneden olmaktadır. Üstün niteliklilik algısı olarak adlandırdığımız bu kavram örgütler için bazı istenmeyen sonuçlara yol açmaktadır.Bu çalışmanın amacı üstün niteliklilik algısının, örgüte bağlılık ve işten ayrılma niyeti üzerindeki etkilerini bir kez daha araştırmak ve bu ilişkiler üzerinde algılanan dışsalprestijin etkisini ortaya koymaktır.Araştırma modeli farklı sektörlerde çalışan 102'si erkek ve 101'i kadın olmak üzere toplam 203 katılımcıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çıkan sonuçlar incelendiğinde üstünniteliklilik algısının örgütsel bağlılık değişkeni ile negatif, işten ayrılma niyeti ile ise pozitif bir ilişki içinde olduğu görülmüştür. Faktör bazında ayrıntılı incelemelerçalışmanın ilerleyen kısımlarında görülebilir. Dışsal prestij algısının bu ilişkilerde moderatör etkisi saptanmamıştır.Anahtar kelimeler: Üstün niteliklilik algısı, işten ayrılma niyeti, örgütsel bağlılık,algılanan dışsal prestij Turkey as a developing country, while increasing the number and quality of labor besides the troubles in finding a job may cause individuals to work in an inappropriate job for their educational background and skills. Surplus qualified employees for the jobs they perform may face different aspects of business life. This concept which is called perceived overqualification may lead organizations to undesired consequences. The reason of this study is to research the concept of perceived overqualification once more and also the relationship between perceived overqualification and both turnover intention and organizational commitment. Another purpose is to introduce themoderator effect of perceived external prestige on these relationships. The research model was tested with 203 participants that consisted of 102 male and 101 female. The results showed that perceived overqualification were in a negative correlation with organizational commitment and in a positive correlation with turnover intention variable. Detailed relationships in factor basis can be seen in previous parts ofthe study.
