The automotive industry has always represented a key sector within the economy of any country. Moreover, its significant contribution to the gross domestic product of many countries transformed this industry into one of the main pillars of the global economy. Therefore, numerous countries have built and produced various motor vehicles on different continents. The purpose of the paper is to briefly present and analyze the evolution of the world motor vehicle production on the four continents (Europe, America, Asia-Oceania, and Africa) in the period 2018-2022. The research methodology is based on a qualitative research method. The paper shows that the pre-pandemic period was a better period for the automotive industry than the pandemic period. Also, it demonstrates that AsiaOceania dominates the production hierarchy by continents.

In Turkey, motor vehicle production and operations associated with it have started in form of assembly industry in 1955. Showing an assembly-based growth up to 1980s, the motor vehicle production now, under effect of a variety of developments from 1990s on, reached to a level to be able to produce in global scale. In those years when motor vehicle production in Turkey was on basis of assembly (1955-1970), the production operations were largely performed in Istanbul. The automotive industry operations, expanded to other places outside Istanbul in the subsequent years, started in Bursa from 1970s on, inland of the country in 1980s (Aksaray, Eskişehir, Ankara, Adana) and mostly in Kocaeli and Sakarya from 1990s on. In addition to a number of factors effective in the establishment and operation of the automotive industry (market, transportation, labour, capital, governmental policies, energy resources, personal decisions, etc.), urbanization in the country had also effect on the formation of this spatial distribution. Objective of this study is to determine geographical distribution of automotive industry operations in Turkey and explore the factors having effect on this distribution. A variety of geographical methods and techniques have been used in order to determine factors which have been effective in the selection of locations for the automotive industry and facilities associated with it. The aim of this paper is to highlight the influence of economic and qualitative factors on steel production globally, as well in the EU, US, and China, using a dataset corresponding to the period 2000-2015. The research methods used are the study of specialist literature, problematisation, modelling, and simulation using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The main conclusion of this paper is that, on long term, the steel production is largely influenced by the rate of real economic growth and by car production, even if in the short term the correlation is not obvious. Likewise, qualitative factors affect the steel industry in the context of current regulations on reducing carbon emissions and ensuring sustainable development. An additional aim of the present study is to define entropy in the sustainable development of steel production, as well as illustrate some of its properties and the quality management modelling of the research process in steel production.
