Re‐Os isotope‐dilution geochronology has been widely used to date the timing of molybdenite, pyrite and chalcopyrite formation across a variety of geological settings. However, in situ methods have been impeded by the isobaric interference of 187Re on 187Os. In situ Re‐Os geochronology using LA‐ICP‐MS/MS has been shown to be a useful technique to chemically separate Os from Re, as Os reacts with CH4 to create higher‐mass reaction products, which can then be measured with minimised interference of 187Re. However, application of the method requires matrix‐matched primary reference materials, e.g., age‐homogenous molybdenite amenable to laser ablation. Here, we characterise and present two new molybdenite mineral reference materials for in situ Re‐Os geochronology by LA‐ICP‐MS/MS, verified by ID‐TIMS Re‐Os measurements. We also present case studies from molybdenite samples with varying Re mass fractions and Re‐Os age mapping. The method provides accurate and precise age data, with excellent precision for high Re samples. The benefits of the LA‐ICP‐MS/MS approach include: (1) simple sample preparation, (2) rapid data acquisition, (3) targeting of specific textural domains including growth zones and (4) the ability to simultaneously collect trace elements used to link the timing and conditions of ore‐formation. Skarn and Fe-Zn-Pb mineralization at the Wondong deposit located in the Taebaeksan Basin of the central-eastern region of Korean Peninsula occurs along the contact between the Upper Cretaceous quartz-feldspar porphyry (QFP) and carbonate rocks of the Ordovician Makgol Formation. The QFP is relatively fresh and has a sharp contact with the garnet skarn. Skarn is dominant in the carbonate rocks but is rare in the QFP. It consists almost of grandite throughout the skarn but has mineralogical zonation of proximal garnet, intermediate pyroxene, and distal wollastonite with increasing distance from the contact between the QFP and garnet skarn. Garnet becomes Fe-rich, and pyroxene tends to be enriched in Fe and Mn toward the marble front. Massive Fe mineralization, replacing garnet skarn, is restricted proximal to the QFP. In contrast, although the Zn-Pb mineralization is found in all areas it mostly occurs in the carbonate rocks beyond the skarn. Zinc-Pb mineralization occurred as stockwork and vein in the QFP and the garnet skarn consists of sphalerite, galena, Al-rich garnet, and calcite with a minor quantity of arsenopyrite. In contrast, the carbonate replacement of the Zn-Pb mineralization beyond skarn consists of sphalerite, pyrrhotite, galena, diopsidic pyroxene, and calcite with minor minerals such as arsenopyrite, löellingite, and chalcopyrite. Sphalerite, principal ore mineral, becomes darker and Fe- (up to 34.4 mol% FeS) and Mn-rich (up to 1.5 mol% MnS) with increasing distance from the QFP. Arsenopyrite is closely associated with sphalerite tends to be decreased in As away from the QFP. All sulfide minerals from Zn-Pb mineralization in the Wondong deposit have δ34S values ranging from 2.9 to 5.9‰, which are attributed to the magmatic source. In addition, the narrow range and subtle variation of the δ34S values for all sulfides throughout the Wondong deposits are not interpreted to be involved in the mixing of multiple sulfur sources. Geological, petrographic, mineralogical, and isotopic geochemical investigations show that the early skarn was formed in an environment of high fluid: rock ratios at the contact between the QFP and Makgol Formation and it was dominated by grandite, indicating the oxidizing nature of the skarn-forming fluids. The ore deposition began after the formation of the main garnet dominated skarn. The ore-forming fluids responsible for Zn-Pb mineralization are characterized by a less oxidizing nature, as defined by comparatively Al-enriched garnet in vein type mineralization in and around the QFP. Farther, the fluids producing the carbonate replacement of the Zn-Pb mineralization are unlikely to be engaged in external effects such as mixing with multiple sulfur sources even though it travels over long distance. The Samba Cu deposit is located in pre-Katangan Supergroup basement metavolcanic rocks of the Central African Copperbelt in Zambia. To better understand the formation of the Cu deposit, we use geochronologic, geochemical, and S isotopic data obtained for the deposit's host rocks and sulfide minerals. Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometric (LA-ICP-MS) dating of zircon from host rocks, including quartz-sericite schist and biotite-sericitechlorite schist, yields ages of 1967 ± 17 Ma and 1960 ± 20 Ma, which are interpreted as the crystallization ages of the original volcanic rocks. Re-Os analyses of molybdenite intergrown with chalcopyrite constrain sulfide deposition to 548.1 ± 7.5 Ma and 524.1 ± 7.3 Ma, which correspond to the timing of the Cu mineralization. LA-ICPMS U-Pb analyses of metamorphic rutile from the biotite-sericite-chlorite schist yield a U-Pb age of 508.3 ± 6.6 Ma, which is interpreted to represent the age of regional metamorphism. The paper presents isotopic U–Pb zircon data (LA-ICP-MS method) for the main types of high-potassic intrusive rocks of the Chorukh-Dairon W–Mo(–Cu–Au) skarn deposit situated in the Kurama segment of the Middle Tien Shan near the largest porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposits of the Almalyk mineralized cluster. Together with the other Au, W, Mo and Cu deposits, all these deposits are parts of the extended Late Paleozoic metallogenic belt of Tien Shan. The concordant isotopic U–Pb zircon data obtained for the rocks of successive intrusion phases in the Chorukh-Dairon pluton span from about 298 Ma to 290 Ma. This interval included crystallization of monzodiorite (295.1 ± 3.3 Ma), quartz syenite (294.7 ± 2.3 Ma), quartz monzonite (294.1 ± 2.1 Ma), and monzogranite (293.0 ± 3.0 Ma). These dates correspond to the pluton emplacement at the Late Carboniferous-Early Permian boundary and highlight its younger age compared to the productive high-potassic intrusions of the porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposits in the Almalyk mineralized cluster, the latter assigned to the Late Carboniferous (about 337–313 Ma and partially to 308–297 Ma). By contrast to the latter, which were intruded in the subduction-related environment, the emplacement of the high-potassic rock of the Chorukh-Dairon pluton occurred in the transitional subduction-related to post-collisional environment or even under an actual post-collisional regime. This allows distinguishing two pulses of ore-bearing Carboniferous-Permian high-potassic calc-alkaline to shoshonitic series magmatism in the Middle Tien Shan. Consistently, there is a metallogenic evolution in the region that was expressed in the transition from porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposits associated with subduction-related potassic magmatism, and likely evolving toward epithermal Au-Ag deposits, to essentially tungsten (W–Mo–Cu–Au) deposits associated with younger potassic magmatism occurring rather in the post-collisional environment. Pyrite is a ubiquitous mineral in many ore deposits and sediments, and its trace element composition is mainly controlled by temperature, oxygen fugacity, pH, compositions of fluids, and host rock composition. A discriminant analysis (DA), based on multi-element compositions of pyrite, distinguishes iron oxide-apatite (IOA), iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG), skarn Cu-(Fe), porphyry Cu-Mo, orogenic Au, volcanic-hosted massive sulfide (VMS), sedimentary exhalative (SEDEX) deposits, and barren sedimentary pyrite. Testing of the DA classifier yields an accuracy of 98% for IOA, 96% for IOCG, 91% for skarn Cu-(Fe), 94% for porphyry Cu-Mo, 87% for orogenic Au, 84% for VMS, 96% for SEDEX, and 85% for barren sedimentary pyrite. Furthermore, neural network, support vector machine, and random forest, were performed for selecting the optimum classifier more accurately. In these three techniques, the support vector machine yielded the highest overall accuracy (98% for IOA, IOCG, skarn Cu-Fe, and porphyry Cu-Mo, and 97% for orogenic Au, VMS, SEDEX, and barren sedimentary pyrite) and thus is an appropriate technique in predicting pyrite types. Sedimentary manganese (Mn) deposits in the southeastern Yangtze Platform of China have been newly discovered with considerable potential for resource exploration. Such deposits formed due to dynamic changes in the global environment, including the break-up of the supercontinent Rodinia, Snowball Earth glaciation, and the Neoproterozoic Oxygenation Event. The Mn-bearing sequences are hosted in the basal Datangpo Formation and are interbedded with black carbonaceous shale in a series of graben sub-basins in the Nanhua Rift Basin. We investigated the origin of these Mn deposits by analysing the major and trace elements, total organic carbon, and stable carbon and oxygen isotopes. Positive Eu anomalies were observed, indicating that the Mn was derived from a hydrothermal system. Redox-related elements, including Ce, Mo, U, V, S, and P, indicated that the depositional environment of the Mn layers was oxidative and that Mn2+ was initially oxidized to Mn oxides. However, the host rock (i.e. black carbonaceous shale) was deposited under dysoxic – anoxic and even sulfidic water conditions. The alternating distribution of Mn ore and host rock suggested alternating redox conditions in the sub-basins. A negative correlation between the Mn content and δ13Ccarb values (−10‰–−7‰) and a deficiency of sulphide minerals indicate that the diagenetic degradation of organic matter (δ13Corg from − 34‰ to − 31.9‰) took place through Mn oxide reduction rather than microbial sulphate reduction and can contribute to a considerable source of bicarbonates. The approximately homogeneous δ13Ccarb depletion and their apparent discrepancy with δ13Corg indicate that the post-depositional genesis of the Mn carbonate ore occurred in a relatively open early diagenetic pore water system with a considerable contribution from seawater-derived carbon sources. The Aqishan-Caixiashan polymetallic ore cluster, located in the eastern Tianshan Orogenic Belt, is part of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) and experienced extensive tectono-magmatic events with polymetallic mineralization during the Carboniferous. However, the Carboniferous tectonic affinity and magmatic evolution of the ore cluster are still controversial, which limits further understanding of the tectonic evolution and regional metallogeny. With the aim of solving these problems, we have carried out geochronological and geochemical studies on Carboniferous intrusive rocks and volcanic rocks from the ore cluster. The samples of the Carboniferous magmatic rocks are enriched in LREEs and LILEs but depleted in HFSEs, which attest to the I-type affinity and are similar to those formed in a continental arc. The early Carboniferous granodiorites and granites (350–343 Ma) in the Central Tianshan Block (CTB), with high Mg# values of 37–66, low Y values of 2.3–17.2 ppm, and high Sr/Y ratios (34–85), show characteristics of adakites that are formed by partial melting of delaminated oceanic crust and/or lower crust. Additionally, they have a wide range of εHf(t) values (5.4–15.9), high εNd (t) values (1.78–6.31) and low ISr values (0.705–0.706), indicating a mixed source of depleted mantle and lower crust for its origin. The Late Carboniferous volcanic rocks (314–306 Ma) in the Aqishan-Yamansu Tectonic Belt (AYTB) north of the CTB have obviously negative Nb–Ta-Ti anomalies, as well as high Y contents (12–20 ppm) and low Sr/Y ratios (5.6–29.9) compared to primitive mantle, which has a relatively flat chondrite-normalized REE pattern, resembling arc-related magmas. Additionaly, they have positive values of εHf(t) values (8.7–14.7), high εNd(t) values (3.04–4.45) and low ISr ratios (0.704–0.707), showing a depleted mantle source, which is weakly affected by the contamination of ancient crustal material. Combining this study and previous works, we suggest that the continuous southwards subduction of the North Tianshan Ocean during the Carboniferous generated the continental arc and forearc basin in the northern part of the CTB. The expansion of the Aqishan-Yamansu forearc basin formed intrusions and volcanic formations along the arc belt. The early Carboniferous intermediate-felsic mantle-derived adakitic magmas in the CTB are probably related to regional Zn-Pb enrichment and mineralization, and the Late Carboniferous intrusions and volcanic formations in the AYTB are related to large-scale Fe-Cu-Zn-Pb-Ag mineralization. Alunite is used as a representative mineral for indicating deposits in lithocaps, and lithocaps are generally related to the porphyry–(high-sulfidation) epithermal mineralization system. The study of alunite is of theoretical and exploration significance for prospecting potential underlying porphyry and epithermal deposits. Studies on alunite geochemistry have made breakthroughs, but there is little research on alunite mineralogy, for example, using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, differential thermal analysis (DTA), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). This study mainly focuses on alunite micromorphological characteristics, weight loss changes with temperature, and ionic group structure, aiming to identify the relationship between these features and indications for prospecting. The Fanshan lithocap is located in the northwest part of the Luzong basin, Anhui province of China, and it can potentially be used for exploring porphyry and epithermal deposits. Fanshan alunite is formed in two stages with three types of alunite. IA alunite is formed in the early hydrothermal stage and replaces felsic minerals in the Zhuanqiao Formation, IB alunite is formed in the later hydrothermal stage and fills in open spaces with bladed particles, and II alunite is the product of pyrite oxidation and reaction with other minerals in the supergene stage. Alunite electron microprobe data and energy-dispersive spectroscopy data further confirm temperature decreases with hydrothermal evolution, and the presence of a high-sulfidation epithermal system in the Luzong basin. Aside from the forming environment, SWIR, and geochemistry of alunite, there are other indication indexes; for example, the larger peak values at 3480 cm−1 and smaller peak values at 1080 cm−1 in FT-IR spectra and the deeper exothermic valleys at 750 °C and steeper weight loss slopes in the DTA curve suggest a favorable formation environment for alunite and provide valuable indications for deposit exploration and assessments of mineralization potential. The Tietonggou pluton is mainly composed of gabbroic diorite and diorite. The petrology, zircon U-Pb age, and geochemistry of the Tietonggou diorite have been studied to determine its petrogenesis and metallogenic significance. The diorite samples have 56–58 wt% SiO2 and 11–14 wt% Al2O3 and are peraluminous and sodic (Na2O/K2O = 1.29–2.07). All the samples are enriched in light rare earth elements (LREEs) and large-ion lithophile elements (LILEs; e.g., Rb, Ba, and Sr) but depleted in heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) and high field strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Zr, Nb, and Ta), suggesting subduction-related affinities. The rocks have narrow ranges of (206Pb/204Pb)t (18.5–19.0), (207Pb/204Pb)t (15.71–15.75), and (208Pb/204Pb)t (38.4–39.0) ratios, respectively. Zircons from the Tietonggou diorite yielded a weighted average U-Pb age of 132.86 ± 0.92 Ma (MSWD = 0.48), whilst those from the nearby Laowa diorite yielded 129.72 ± 0.61 Ma (MSWD = 1.05). This suggests that the rocks represent Early Cretaceous plutons, coeval with the peak lithospheric thinning in eastern North China Craton (NCC). The magma likely originated from partial melting of the enriched lithospheric mantle and was contaminated by ancient lower NCC crustal materials. The Ediacaran–Cambrian Phosphogenic Episode is the Earth's first true phosphogenic event and resulted in worldwide phosphate deposits, which occurred during the processes of the Neoproterozoic Oxygenation Event. The Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation (ca. 635–551 Ma) of Weng'an area in central Guizhou, South China, contains two economic phosphorite beds (the Lower and Upper Phosphorite Beds). This paper presents a detailed stratigraphic, sedimentological and mineralogical study of multiple outcrop and drill core sections of the Doushantuo Formation across the Weng'an area, and identified 11 lithofacies and 4 types of phosphatic grains. Significant differences in lithofacies and grain types between the upper and lower phosphate deposits are observed, indicating that the two sets of phosphate deposits are the products of two distinct phosphogenic processes. The Lower Phosphorite Bed mainly consists of banded and laminated phosphorites, contains micro-oncoids formed by microbially-mediated precipitation and peloids formed by in-situ chemically oscillating reactions, indicating a biochemical and chemical enrichment of phosphorus to sediments during the Early Ediacaran Period. The Upper Phosphorite Bed is mainly composed of carbonaceous, massive, and stromatolitic phosphorites, contains bioclasts (phosphatized spheroidal fossils), and intraclasts formed by hydrodynamic agitation, suggesting that the major accesses of phosphorus to sediments were the remineralization of organic P. Deposition of the two economic phosphorite beds was controlled by two sea-level cycles. Such differences have also been documented in contemporaneous phosphate-bearing successions in Brazil and Mangolia, indicating a significant shift in global phosphogenic mechanism during the early and middle Ediacaran, which may be due to the changes in redox conditions in seawater, associated with the Neoproterozoic Oxygenation Event. The Chagai belt to the north of the Afghan block and the east of the Iranian block in the western part of Pakistan is known for occurrence of Oligocene to Miocene calc‐alkaline magmatic belt. The present study discusses the characteristics of episodic magmatic activities that contributed to mineralization for the Reko Diq porphyry complex in the western part of the Chagai belt. U–Pb dating of zircons from volcanic rocks of the Reko Diq porphyry complex yielded ages of 25.8 ± 1.8 and 12.29 ± 0.44 Ma for two phases of magmatic crystallization. Geochemical analyses of whole‐rock rhyolite and dacite indicate that the rock units are peraluminous calc‐alkaline, derived from Andean‐type subduction. The magma was formed due to partial melting of the thickened mafic lower crust in a continental arc setting in relation to the subduction of the Neotethys along the Makran subduction zone. The abundance of zircons, Hf, REE, U/Pb and Th indicates high degrees of magmatic evolution. Moreover, the Sr and Nd isotopic data indicate the fractional contribution of depleted N‐MORB mantle to the Reko Diq magmas through bulk mixing with magmas derived from the lower continental crust. Short‐lived magmatic systems repeated magma injection, and various episodes of hydrothermal fluid flow have led to the formation of porphyry mineralization. Emplacement of the Reko Diq porphyry complex and related Cu–Au mineralization is associated with a series of tectonic–magmatic events at different episodes of the Oligocene–Miocene times. Sedimentary rock–hosted stratiform copper deposits are the world's second largest source of copper and the largest source of cobalt, with about 73% of the copper occurring in two basins: the Katangan Basin (Central African Copperbelt) and the Permian Basin (Kupferschiefer). Why these two sedimentary basins are so highly endowed in copper is puzzling because sedimentary rock–hosted stratiform copper deposits have formed since the Paleoproterozoic and they all share remarkably similar ore mineralogy, host-rock characteristics and basin settings. We suggest that this discrepancy is due to the development of these two basins close to the bases of ~ 8000-km-long supermountain belts. The supermountain belts were instrumental in raising oxygen levels in Earth's atmosphere, as well as providing a voluminous source of groundwater and a powerful and long-lived driver for the fluid-flow system. The elevated oxygen levels facilitated the diagenetic processes that converted copper-bearing labile minerals to amorphous iron-oxides and smectite and then in turn to hematite and illite. When oxidized brines flushed through the basin successions, the liberated copper was transported to units containing carbon-rich mudstone and the metals were deposited. For the Katangan Basin, development of the Transgondwanan supermountain belt along its margins between about 525 and 510 Ma explains the delay of several hundreds of millions of years between basin formation and mineralization in the Central African Copperbelt. In contrast, development of the Mid-Pangean supermountain belt formed penecontemporaneous with the Permian Basin explains the similarity in timing between basin formation and mineralization in the Kupferschiefer. The Haib porphyry copper deposit is situated in the Richtersveld Subprovince and is host to unique Palaeoproterozoic porphyry copper mineralisation in Namibia. Several lines of evidence, including machine-learning geothermobarometry, indicate that the deposit is exposed at mid- to upper-crustal levels, as constrained from average pressure and temperature estimates of 4 kbar and 870°C, respectively. The Haib porphyry copper deposit is associated with, and is in close proximity to, a mafic-ultramafic intrusion named the Kokerboom Intrusion (KI) in this study. Together with several other mafic intrusions in this region, these intrusions are known collectively as the Vuurdood Subsuite of the Richtersveld Subprovince. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate a genetic link between the KI and the Vuurdood Subsuite using lithological characteristics, mineral and alteration assemblages, major and trace element geochemistry and U-Pb geochronology. Pyroxenites from the KI contain magmatic sulphides and have a geochemical affinity with shallow plutonic and volcanic rocks of the Haib porphyry, providing a unique mid-crustal perspective on porphyry copper deposit metallogenesis. The late Mesozoic destruction of the eastern North China Craton (NCC) resulted from intense crust-mantle interaction, culminating in the formation of world-class gold deposits in the Jiaodong Peninsula at ca. 120 Ma. We present zircon U-Pb geochronological data, Hf isotopic compositions, whole-rock major and trace element, and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic compositions for two suites of granitoids: one (the Linglong suite) that hosts significant mineralization and the other (the Weideshan suite) that is largely unmineralized. The Linglong suite was emplaced in the Late Jurassic at 160 ± 3 Ma to 155 ± 3 Ma, whereas the Weideshan suite was emplaced in the Early Cretaceous at 121 ± 2 Ma to 118 ± 1 Ma, coeval with gold mineralization. Geochemical data indicate the Linglong suite was derived from the melting of thickened lower crust of the NCC, mixed with material from the Yangtze Craton (YC) and intervening Su-Lu Orogenic Belt, whereas the Weideshan suite was formed from the partial melting of lower continental crust, with the addition of enriched lithospheric mantle components. The Late Jurassic magmatism was associated with crustal growth resulting from the continental collision between the NCC and YC and subsequent subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Oceanic Plate (PPOP). In contrast, Early Cretaceous magmatism was triggered by rapid lithospheric thinning and asthenospheric upwelling resulting from slab roll-back and stagnation of the PPOP beneath the NCC. Lithospheric delamination induced the widespread development of secondary structures associated with the major Tan-Lu Fault, providing favorable loci for the accumulation of auriferous fluids. The Ulgen porphyry Mo deposit, recently discovered in the northeastern segment of the Derbugan metallogenic belt, NE China, is a large and hidden ore deposit. Investigation of this deposit provides insights into the geodynamic background and metallogenic mechanism of Mesozoic porphyry Mo deposits that are exposed elsewhere in NE China. The host rocks consist of muscovite monzonitic granite (MMG) and biotite granitic porphyry (BGP), which are intruded into Lower and/or Middle Jurassic intermediate-felsic volcanic-sedimentary rocks and pre-ore monzogranitic porphyry (MP). Zircon laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometric (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb age dating indicates that the MMG and BGP were emplaced at 144.9 Ma and 144.7 Ma, ca. 14 m.y. younger than the intrusion age of MP (159.3 Ma). Molybdenite Re-Os isotopic dating indicates that Mo mineralization occurred at 144.9 Ma, almost simultaneously with the 145 Ma magmatic activity. Geochemically, all of the Ulgen granitoids are enriched in large ion lithophile elements (e.g., Rb, Th, U, and K) and light rare earth elements, and are depleted in high field strength elements (e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti). The pre-ore MPs belong to I-type granites with moderately negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.62-0.65), whereas the syn-ore MMGs exhibit S-type affinity with pronounced negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.29-0.39). The ore-forming BGPs display adakite-like geochemical features in terms of high-Sr, low-Y, and low-Yb contents, and slightly negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.72-0.74). All intrusive rocks have relatively low initial (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.7044-0.7055) and positive εNd(t) values (+1.15 to +2.65), positive εHf(t) values (+4.0 to +9.4), young two-stage Nd and Hf model ages (tDM2(Nd) = 841-731 Ma, tDM2(Hf) = 943-604 Ma), and moderate (206Pb/204Pb)i (18.300-18.402), (207Pb/204Pb)i (15.557-15.564), and (208Pb/204Pb)i (38.180-38.307) ratios. Therefore, it is most likely that these intrusive rocks originated from a mixture of two sources of magma derived from the mantle and juvenile lower crust, in which there were variable degrees of the fractional crystallization of ilmenite, apatite, and plagioclase. Rather than the partial melting of oceanic slabs, the fractional crystallization of hornblende and accessory minerals (e.g., ilmenite and apatite) induces the adakitic geochemical signature of BGPs. Compared with the BGPs, the MPs had a relatively deeper magma source region, whereas the MMGs had a relatively shallower magma source region. The BGPs and the Mo-bearing fluids of the Ulgen deposit were most probably derived simultaneously from magma that was generated at an extensional setting following the closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean during the latest Jurassic. The eastern part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt in NE China is one of the world's well-known Ag-Pb-Zn-Mo metallogenic provinces, and the late Mesozoic magmas have been considered to supply dominant metals for mineralization. However, Cu mineralization in this belt is relatively rare. The Zhalageamu deposit is a newly discovered copper deposit in this region and could be applied to address the issue of whether the regional late Mesozoic magmatism could have triggered the formation of large Cu deposits. The quartz diorite and granite porphyry in Zhalageamu returned laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometric (LA-ICP-MS) zircon U-Pb ages of 267.1 ± 2.0 Ma and 255.6 ± 2.2 Ma, respectively. Molybdenite coexisting with chalcopyrite yielded an isotope dilution-negative-thermal ionization mass spectrometric Re-Os age of 141.8 ± 0.8 Ma. This age is almost identical to that of the coexisting arsenopyrite within the analytical uncertainty, which yielded an Re-Os isochron age of 140.7 ± 5.9 Ma. The above ages constrain the timing of Cu mineralization to the late Mesozoic. The fact that the Cu mineralization is >110 m.y. younger than its igneous host rocks precludes a genetic link between them. Instead, the Cu mineralization age indicates that a possible hidden late Mesozoic intrusion likely contributed Cu mineralization. The age of the Zhalageamu deposit is similar to that of the late Mesozoic magmatic-hydrothermal Ag-Pb-Zn-Fe-Sn mineralizing event (140-120 Ma) in NE China. This suggests that the Zhalageamu Cu mineralization was part of this event and implies the broader existence of a late Mesozoic magmatic-hydrothermal Cu mineralizing event in NE China, a discovery that would be of great significance for further Cu exploration. The Kodaro–Udokan region is a huge Cu metallogenic province in Southern Siberia, one of the largest on Earth. It contains world-class copper sandstone-hosted Udokan (Cu reserves of 26.7 Mt) and PGE-Ni-Cu Chineysky deposits related to gabbro–anorthosite pluton (Cu—10 Mt; Fe-Ti-V, 30 Gt of ore). Furthermore, there are many small deposits of sulfide ores in sedimentary and igneous rocks in this region as well. For many decades, their genesis has been hotly debated. We studied the mineral composition and the sulfur isotopes in several deposits located at different levels of the stratigraphic sequence and in gabbro intruded in sandstones of the Udokan complex. The differences in ore compositions were found. The Burpala and Skvoznoy deposits consisting of the chalcocite–bornite association are characterized only by negative δ34S. The δ34S values for the Udokan deposits are mostly <0 (up to −28‰). The positive δ34S data characterize the ores of the Chineysky and Luktursky intrusions. Two Cu sandstone-hosted deposits are characterized by complex ore composition, i.e., the Krasny deposit, comprising chalcopyrite–pyrrhotite ores, is enriched in Co, Ni, Bi, Sb, Mo, Pb, Zn, Se, Te, and U and has a wide range of δ34S = −8.1–+13.5‰, and the Pravoingamakitsky deposit (Basaltovy section), consisting of quartz–chalcopyrite veins, has high PGE contents in ores with δ34S = +2.9–+4.0‰. These deposits are located near the gabbro massifs, and it is supposed that their ore compositions were influenced by magmatic fluids. The general regularities of the localization of the deposits in rift zones, and the proximity of mineral and isotopic composition allow us to conclude that the main source of copper could be rocks of basic composition because only they contain high Cu contents. The Makeng iron deposit in southwest Fujian is a significant iron polymetallic deposit containing various types of iron ore, including garnet magnetite, diopside magnetite, and quartz magnetite. The metallogenetic type of the deposit has been a subject of debate, particularly in relation to the genesis of magnetite and the source of iron. In situ microanalysis of trace elements in magnetite from different ores shows relatively low levels of V, Ti, Cu, and Zn, with higher concentrations of Ca and Si, indicating the characteristics of a skarn type deposit. The δ57Fe values of the magnetite range from −0.091‰ to 0.317‰. Combining these data, whole-rock iron isotope analyses, including Juzhou and Dayang granites, diabase, and the Lower Carboniferous Lindi Formation sandstone, suggest that Fe in the magnetite primarily originates from granitic pluton, with potential contributions from diabase and the Lower Carboniferous Lindi Formation sandstone. Combined with field work, these results indicate that Makeng iron deposit is a skarn-type magnetite deposit associated with Yanshanian granitic intrusions. Therefore, the initial ore-forming fluid is postulated to be a high-temperature magmatic hydrothermal fluid with high oxygen fugacity. This fluid infiltrates spaces such as interlayer fracture zones between the Upper Carboniferous Jingshe Formation–Middle Permian Qixia Formation carbonate rocks and the Lower Carboniferous Lindi Formation sandstone, resulting in diverse magnetite ores due to metasomatism. The mineralization process of the Makeng iron deposit is basically the same, as it is composed of typical skarn deposits. Magnetite was mainly formed during calcic skarn formation stage, and this process persisted until the initial phase of the retrograde alteration of skarns. Skarn Au deposits exist in the circum-pacific metallogenic belt. Interestingly, the Da'anhe Au deposit is the only independent skarn gold deposit in the Lesser Xing'an Range. To determine the metallogenic mechanism and prospecting potential of the Da'anhe deposit, we performed skarn mineralogy, fluid inclusion (FI) and H-O isotope analyses. The results show the following: (1) The Da'anhe deposit is a calcareous reduced skarn Au deposit that formed between an Early Jurassic gabbroic diorite and the Permian Tumenling Formation marble. Its metallogenic process includes five stages: the early skarn stage (Stage I1), late skarn stage (Stage I2), early quartz-sulfide stage (Stage II1), late quartz-sulfide stage (Stage II2) and quartz-carbonate stage (Stage II3). Gold precipitated in Stage II1 and Stage II2. (2) The initial ore-forming fluid was derived from magmatic water and featured a high temperature and intermediate to high salinity. After boiling and mixing, the fluid eventually changed to a low-temperature and low-salinity reducing fluid dominated by meteoric water. (3) The formation depth of the Au orebodies was 2.27–3.11 km, and the orebodies were later lifted to the surface (<500 m). The potential for finding skarn Au deposits in the study area is limited. The Ougnat Massif of the eastern Anti-Atlas (Morocco) hosts barite and sulfide vein-type deposits of vital economic importance. With over 150 mineralized structures reported in the Ougnat Massif, the ore-bearing ones are predominantly composed of barite, quartz, calcite, and minor portions of sulfides. The mineralized veins are driven by NW-SE and NE-SW to E-W oblique-slip opening faults that cross both the Precambrian basement and its Paleozoic cover. The mineralized structures occur as lenses and sigmoidal veins that follow stepped tension fracture sets oblique to the fault planes. These geometries and kinematic indicators of these structures point to a predominantly normal-sinistral opening in a brittle-ductile tectonic setting. The S isotopic compositions of barite from the Ougnat Massif (+10.8 to +19.5‰) fall mostly within the range of δ34S values of Late Triassic to Jurassic seawater, thus suggesting that some of the SO2− in barite comes from seawater sulfate. This range of δ34S values also corresponds approximately to the hydrothermal barite context. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios of barite, which range from 0.710772 to 0.710816, lie between the radiogenic strontium isotopic compositions of deposition by hydrothermal solutions, and also coincide with the non-radiogenic isotopic signature of Triassic to Jurassic seawater. Based on a fluid inclusions study, the ore-forming fluids were a mixture of two or more fluids. A deep hot fluid with an average temperature of 368 °C leached the granodiorites and volcanic-sedimentary complex of the Ouarzazate Group. This fluid provided the hydrothermal system with most of the Ba, radiogenic Sr, and some of the dissolved S. A second, shallow fluid with an average temperature of 242 °C was derived from Late Triassic to Jurassic seawater. The barite mineralization of the Ougnat Massif constitutes a typical example of vein-type mineralization that occurred along the northern margin of the West African Craton and regionally tied to the central Atlantic opening. Accurately determining the timing and mechanism of metallogenesis of ore deposits is essential for developing a robust genetic model for their exploration. In this paper, we analyze the formation conditions of cassiterite in five major deposits of southern Hunan Province, one of the most important tungsten-tin (W-Sn) provinces in South China, using a combination of cathodoluminescence imaging, in situ U-Pb geochronology, and trace-element concentration data. In situ cassiterite U-Pb geochronology constrains the main period of Sn mineralization to between 155.4 and 142.0 Ma, demonstrating a temporal and genetic relationship to silicic intrusive magmatism in the same area. Three stages of magmatic activity and metallogenic evolution are recognized: (1) Early Paleozoic and Triassic: the initial enrichment stage of tungsten and tin; (2) Jurassic: the metasomatic mineralization stage; and (3) Cretaceous: the magmatic-hydrothermal superposition stage. The cassiterite in these deposits takes four forms, i.e., quartz vein-type, greisen-skarn-type, greisen-type, and granite-type, representing a progression characterized by the increasing content and decreasing range of variation of high field strength elements (HFSEs), and reflecting a general increase in the degree of evolution of the associated granites. Rare earth element (REE) concentrations suggest that precipitation of cassiterite was insensitive to the redox state of the fluid and that precipitation of cassiterite in the southern Hunan Sn deposits did not require a high-fO2 environment. The Shuangyuangou copper deposit is located in the southern segment of the Qinling orogenic belt in central China. The ore‐related intrusions include quartz diorite porphyry, granite porphyry and lamprophyre. In this study, we present whole‐rock geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology, trace elements and Lu–Hf isotope data on the Shuangyuangou intrusions which provide critical constraints on the emplacement age, magma origin, petrogenesis and implications for porphyry Cu mineralization in this newly discovered deposit. Zircon U–Pb dating constrains the emplacement age of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry at 150–147 Ma. The quartz diorite porphyry and granite porphyry display high‐K calc–alkaline I‐type granite affiliation. The rocks show enrichment of LREE and LILE (Rb, Ba), depletion in HREE and HFSE (Nb, Ta, Ti) and absence of Eu anomaly. Zircon εHf(t) values of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry range from −7.5 to −1.7 with TDM2 ages of 1.3–1.6 Ga. Our data suggest that the parental magma was derived from partial melting of juvenile lower crust and metasomatic lithospheric mantle, with more involvement of mantle material for the lamprophyre. The zircon Eu/Eu* values of 0.55–0.78 suggest high magmatic water content which suppresses the fractionation of plagioclase. In addition, the ΔFMQ values calculated from zircon trace elements range from −0.90 to 2.96 which is a favourable factor for porphyry Cu mineralization at Shuangyuangou. The Late Jurassic Shuangyuangou intrusion and associated Cu mineralization were formed within an intracontinental setting after the collisional assembly of the Qinling orogenic belt. This article explores the Tethyan Geodynamic System, focusing on the evolution of the Tethyan Ocean into Proto-Tethys, Paleo-Tethys, and Neo-Tethys. The study of Tethyan tectonic domains has contributed to the development of plate tectonics theory. The article highlights the geological records in China, particularly in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, and emphasizes the importance of studying the formation and evolution of Tethyan tectonic domains. It presents various research findings on the evolutionary history of the Tethyan oceans and the metamorphic evolution in the China Central Orogenic System. The article also discusses the role of subducted Tethyan oceanic slabs in understanding plate tectonics and Earth system evolution. It concludes by discussing lithospheric structure, plateau uplifting, and the driving forces of Tethyan evolution. The text also emphasizes the impact of geodynamic processes on climate, environment, and the distribution of resources such as oil, gas, and ore deposits in the Tethyan region. The Eocene Yulong porphyry copper belt (YPCB) in eastern Tibet contains more than 10 Mt of Cu metal, associated with subvolcanic to volcanic porphyry systems intruding Cenozoic sedimentary basins. Geochemical data analysis shows that all samples belonged to high-K calc-alkaline and shoshonite series with metaluminous–peraluminous characteristics, light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements enrichment, high field strength elements depletion, and share geochemical similarities to adakitic rocks. We have established a spatiotemporal evolution framework through geochronological data analysis, combined with calculated bulk zirconium saturation temperature, calculated crustal thickness and geophysical evidence. We identified three magmatic processes triggered by asthenospheric upwelling and thermal erosion of thickened crust: (1) ultrapotassic magma derived from metasomatized mantle; (2) coeval ultrapotassic melt that promoted the partial melting of eroded lower crust and the generation of high-K adakitic felsic melt; high-K and Mg# adakitic fertile magma was formed by interaction between the eroded sulfide-rich juvenile lower crust-derived melt and mantle peridotite; (3) high-K adakitic fertile magma was derived from sulfide-rich juvenile lower crust, triggered by injecting hydrous ultrapotassic magma into thinned lower crust. The difference between deposit size in the north/south section of Yulong belt may be caused by the temperature of magmatic source and the volume of coeval potassic–ultrapotassic magmatism. Petrological, geochemical and zircon U–Pb and Hf isotope studies were carried out on the Hajseyran pluton, along the Tarom–Hashtjin metallogenic zone, as part of the Alborz–Azerbaijan magmatic belt, which is located in the central part of the Alpine–Himalayan orogenic belt. The Hajseyran pluton, which is made up of syenite, monzonite, quartz-monzonite and granite, yields a zircon U–Pb age of 39.20 ± 0.56 Ma (for a quartz-monzonite sample) with shoshonitic features. Enrichment in large ion lithophile elements, depletion in high-field-strength elements and negative anomalies of Nb, Ta and Ti in Chomalou samples suggest a subduction-related arc magmatic setting. The Chomalou epithermal Pb–Zn–Cu deposit occurs close to the Hajseyran pluton with the quartz–base metal sulfide veins predominantly hosted by Eocene volcanic rocks. The ore-forming processes include chalcopyrite and sphalerite–galena formation, with the latter the major mineralisation in this region. Microthermometric results from the liquid–vapour fluid-inclusion assemblages show that the homogenisation temperatures in the first-stage quartz range from 230 to 310 °C, in the sphalerite and second-stage quartz from 161 to 293 °C and in the late-stage quartz from 175 to 262 °C. The salinities of fluids decrease from early-stage quartz to late-stage quartz. The calculated stable isotope values of ore–fluid components (δ18Owater = +3.28‰ to −3.68‰; δ34SH2S = +5.5‰ to +7.8‰) show that magmatic fluids have played a significant role during mineralisation. The Chomalou deposit is interpreted as a volcanic-hosted intermediate-sulfidation type of epithermal mineralisation formed through shallow-level emplacement of the Hajseyran pluton, which formed via partial melting of phlogopite–amphibole-bearing sub-continental lithospheric mantle. The Neotethyan slab roll-back and concomitant asthenospheric upwelling led to the decompression melting of metasomatised sub-continental lithospheric mantle and the formation of several K-rich plutons and associated epithermal deposits in the Alborz–Azerbaijan magmatic belt. The late Eocene Hajseyran pluton shows a shoshonitic, arc-related signature. The Chomalou Pb–Zn–Cu deposit is an intermediate-sulfidation style of epithermal mineralisation. New data on the U–Th–Pb geochronology, mineralogy, geochemistry, and Sm–Nd and Rb–Sr isotopes for granitoids and the associated subalkaline rocks of the Tarbagannakh pluton of the Allakh-Yun tectonic zone in the Verkhoyansk fold-and-thrust belt are presented. These rocks, including trachyandesibasalt dikes, combined into the Uemlyakh complex, were formed about 120 Ma from a continental crust source probably with input from an enriched mantle component. Rapakivi granites are reported for the first time among them; their origin is reference for understanding the geodynamic conditions of formation of rocks in this complex. A tectonic model for the formation of these rocks due to slab break-off during the development of the active continental margin in the Aptian age is proposed. It is discussed that this magmatism was conducive for the widespread development of metasomatic processes until the end of the Aptian age and was at the same time a source of the coinciding spatially gold mineralization of the Okhotsk–Koryak metallogenic belt. One of the richest rare metal provinces in Russia occurs within the Altai–Sayan fold area, which spans the territory of the East Tuva Upland and East Sayan. The deposits of rare metals, elements, and earths formed within the province have different ages and originated in different geotectonic settings and metallogenic epochs. They are related to the intrusion of alkaline rocks, which are abundant along the fault system between the Caledonides of the Altai–Sayan fold area and the Precambrian Tuva–Mongolian Superterrane. The area of their occurrence is also recognized as the East Sayan rare metal metallogenic zone (ESMZ), which originated as a result of the mantle plume impact on the SW frame of the Siberian Platform. These geochemical and geochronological studies were conducted at the Ilee fluorite–phenakite occurrence that formed as a result of the intrusion of granitoids of the Ognit Complex into limestones of the Mongosha Formation, which became a geochemical barrier for a F- and Be-rich magmatic fluid. According to Rb‒Sr and Ar‒Ar geochronological studies, the age of subalkali granite and felsic volcanic rocks of the Ilee Sequence is the Middle Devonian (~390 Ma), which is consistent with the age estimations for rocks of the Ognit Complex. Thus, the coeval age of magmatism and ore formation at the Ilee ore occurrence indicates the contribution of Devonian magmatism to the formation of rare metal mineralization of the ESMZ. The paper considers data on the composition, age, and formation conditions of the Ulzutui and Kydzhimit sequences, which are ascribed to the Eravna Series of the Eravna Subzone of the Uda–Vitim Zone. The Eravna Series, at least 2400 m thick, is composed of tephroturbidites with a significant amount of lavas and tuffs of felsic and intermediate compositions, with which tectonic-gravitational mixtites are spatially and genetically related. The features of the structure and composition of the Eravna Series indicate the formation of sediments in an open deepening marine basin adjacent to the zone of active volcanism. Based on miospores, the time of formation of the Ulzutui Sequence was constrained, for the first time, to the Late Devonian–Early Carboniferous (late Famennian–early Tournaisian), the Kydzhimit Sequence is limited to the Early Carboniferous (Visean) age. At this time, the Kydzhimit volcanic zone was formed. The suprasubduction nature of the zone is evidenced by the following features of volcanic rocks: predominance of felsic varieties, affiliation of basalts to the tholeiitic series, and dacites and rhyodacites to the calc-alkaline series, the presence of high-K rock varieties corresponding to the K-Na alkalinity, very low MgO contents, low and moderate TiO2 contents, high Al2O3 and K2O, enrichment of the volcanogenic rocks in large-ion lithophilic elements relatively to high-field strength elements, Nb minimum, and negative εNd, their spatial association with monzonites (with suprasubduction signatures) and tephroturbidites, as well as metallogenic specialization (Cu and Zn) of the Eravna Series. Scheelite, one kind of common REE-rich and U-bearing hydrothermal mineral, is extensively developed in various types of gold deposits, which can be used to record nature and timing of metallogenesis. The Zhaishang Carlin-like gold deposit in the Qinling Orogen is a giant Au deposit, hosting 127t of Au @ 2.67 g/t with economic concentrations of tungsten and antimony. The study reports two types of scheelite based on the characteristics of petrography and geochemistry. Sch A shows significant oscillatory zoning with dark gray cathodoluminescence (CL) response, whereas Sch B displays patchy textures with brighter CL response. Systematic LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating of Sch A and Sch B yields ages of 227.1 ± 3.2 Ma and 226.2 ± 6.9 Ma, respectively. The new dates, constraining the Zhaishang Au–W mineralization to ~ 227Ma, coincide well with the western Qinling magmatism, metallogenic and tectonic events. There are significant variations in concentration, the Sch A has low REE content (mean = 41.3 ppm), negative Eu-anomaly with slightly positive Ce-anomaly, whereas Sch B, with small negative or positive Eu-anomaly, has higher REE content (mean = 247 ppm) and higher positive Ce-anomaly. The positive correlation of EuN and EuN* records oxidizing condition during the whole W mineralization event. Additionally, Sch B intergrown with selenides with an increase in the Ce-anomaly supports that the latter has higher oxygen fugacity environment. The Sr isotope signature for scheelite supports that ore-forming metals mostly inherited the host rock component, while the proportion of magma-derived Sr increased in the Sch B. Fluid–rock interactions co-precipitated Au and W caused by the release of Fe and Ca cations and the increase of pH. The study highlights that scheelite as a recorder can help in deciphering the nature and timing of metallogenesis of the studied Au–Sb–W deposit, and thus other similar Au–W deposits. Mass transfer across the crust‐mantle boundary is a fundamental process governing planetary differentiation, the evolution of geochemical reservoirs and ore formation, controlled by physicochemical conditions at the crust‐mantle interface. In situ trace‐element, clinopyroxene 87Sr/86Sr and garnet Fe3+/ΣFe of kimberlite‐borne eclogite xenoliths from the deep (∼50 km) crust‐mantle transition below the ca. 1.2–1.0 Ga Namaqua‐Natal Fold Belt (southwestern Kaapvaal craton margin) were determined to elucidate their origin and evolution, and to constrain the oxygen fugacity of this pivotal but largely inaccessible environment. Based on a garnet source signature (NMORB‐normalized Er/Lu > 1) in pristine "gabbroic" eclogites with pronounced positive Eu, Sr, and Pb anomalies, the suite is interpreted as originating as plagioclase‐rich cumulates in oceanic crust from melts generated beneath mature oceanic lithosphere, subsequently subducted during the Namaqua‐Natal orogeny. Enriched eclogites have higher measured 87Sr/86Sr in clinopyroxene (up to 0.7054) than gabbroic ones (up to 0.7036), and show increasing bulk‐rock Li, Be and Pb abundances with increasing δ18O in clinopyroxene, and muted Eu‐Sr‐Pb anomalies. These systematics suggest interaction with a siliceous fluid sourced from seawater‐altered oceanic sediment in a subduction mélange setting. Garnet Fe3+/ΣFe in deep crustal eclogites is extremely low (0.01–0.04, ±0.01 1σ), as inherited from the plagioclase‐rich cumulate protolith, and owing to preferred partitioning into clinopyroxene at low temperatures (∼815–1000°C). Average maximum oxygen fugacities (∆logƒO2(FMQ) = −3.1 ± 1.0 to −0.5 ± 0.7 relative to the Fayalite‐Magnetite‐Quartz buffer) are higher than in deeper‐seated on‐craton eclogite xenoliths, but mostly below sulfate stability, limiting the role of S6+ species in oxidizing the mantle wedge. Metamorphic reactions during subduction cause fluid or melt loss from seawater‐altered oceanic crust and sediment, which enriches the overlying mantle, and possibly oxidizes it. This would explain why the mantle sources of subduction zone magmas appear to be more oxidized than in other tectonic settings. However, the details of the mass transfer in this deep environment are difficult to constrain because it is inaccessible. Using rare deep‐seated magmas (kimberlites) as probes of a ca. 1.2 billion year old southern African subduction zone, we investigated eclogite fragments that originated as subducted oceanic crust and were much later plucked from the wallrocks by the ascending magma. These eclogites show elemental and isotopic signatures of interaction with subducted sediments, pointing to mingling processes similar to those observed in modern subduction zones. We also estimated their oxygen fugacity, a measure of the chemical potential of oxygen. We find that sulfur, which has been implicated in mantle oxidation, would have only been stable in these rocks in its reduced form, making even seawater‐altered eclogites sinks rather than sources of oxygen, with implications for the transfer of sulfur‐loving metals across the mantle‐to‐crust‐boundary. The Huanggang depression in eastern China is a significant Cenozoic salt-bearing basin that formed during the alternating dry and wet climate periods from the Eocene to the Oligocene. Despite the economic importance of the Huanggang depression, its saliferous model remains controversial. To address this issue, we conducted comprehensive analyses of the sedimentology and elemental geochemistry on the YZR1 borehole core, which hosts a relatively complete sedimentary record of the Huanggang depression, consisting of five lithofacies' assemblages. The combined lithofacies and geochemical ratios, including B/Ga, Sr/Ba, and V/(V + Ni), provide insights into the paleolake's evolution in the Huanggang depression. Our analyses indicated that the paleolake underwent a transition from a freshwater lake to a brackish water/saline lake, subsequently transforming into a salt lake, reverting back to a brackish water/saline lake, and ultimately returning to its original state as a freshwater lake. These changes are reflected in the sedimentary record and inform the six stages of evolution of the paleolake of the Dawenkou Formation. We propose two metallogenic models to explain the accumulation of the thick halite (LA1) and thin halite layers (LA2), respectively. LA1 is primarily dominated by halite deposition, forming in an extremely shallow water environment under arid climate conditions. In contrast, LA2 records the alternating deposition of halite, anhydrite, and mudstone, and formed in a shallow water environment under arid to semi-arid climatic conditions. LA1 has a much drier climate and higher salinity than LA2. Our results suggest that the salt-forming period in the Huanggang depression occurred from the late Eocene to the early Oligocene. The halite in the Huanggang depression formed in a shallow water environment, providing the basis for the halite deposition model of the depression. Sandstone-hosted uranium deposits are indeed significant sources of uranium resources globally. They are typically found in sedimentary basins and have been extensively explored and exploited in various countries. They play a significant role in meeting global uranium demand and are considered important resources for nuclear energy production. Erlian Basin, as one of the sedimentary basins in northern China, is known for its uranium mineralization hosted within sandstone formations. In this research, machine learning (ML) methodology was applied to mineral prospectivity mapping (MPM) of the metallogenic zone in the Manite depression of the Erlian Basin. An ML model of 92% accuracy was implemented with the random forest algorithm. Additionally, the confusion matrix and receiver operating characteristic curve were used as model evaluation indicators. Furthermore, the model explainability research with post hoc interpretability algorithms bridged the gap between complex opaque (black-box) models and geological cognition, enabling the effective and responsible use of AI technologies. The MPM results shown in QGIS provided vivid geological insights for ML-based metallogenic prediction. Voluminous Early Cretaceous granitoids and associated large-scale ore deposits are distributed within the southern Great Xing' an Range (SGXR), NE China. Based on previously published geochronology and zircon Hf-isotope data, Hf isotope mapping is undertaken to improve our understanding of crustal architecture and its controls on ore deposits. The ore-related Early Cretaceous granitoids were sourced predominantly from juvenile crust, with the involvement of variable proportions of ancient crustal materials. The crustal architecture, as inferred from Hf isotopic contour maps, indicates two distinct Hf isotopic domains in SGXR, including (1) a higher-εHf (+7 to +11) juvenile crust containing minor ancient crustal material, and (2) a lower-εHf (+2 to +6) juvenile crust containing a greater proportion of ancient crustal materials. The Hf isotopic maps identify links between crustal architecture and regional metallogeny. Copper deposits and other deposits with significant Cu production are restricted mainly to the higher-εHf juvenile crustal regions in the northern and eastern SGXR. Deposits dominated by other metals (e.g., Mo, Sn, W, Pb, Zn, and Ag) occur mainly in the lower- εHf juvenile crustal regions in the southern and western SGXR. Rubidium (Rb) deposits mostly occur in the South China and Central Asia orogenic belts and are often closely associated with highly differentiated granites. This study investigates a newly‐discovered giant Rb deposit at Gariatong in the Central Lhasa terrane in Tibet. Detailed field studies and logging data revealed that the Rb mineralization mainly occurs in monzogranite and is related to greisenization. LA‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb dating of zircon yielded ages of 19.1 ± 0.2 Ma and 19.0 ± 0.2 Ma for greisenized monzogranite and fresh monzogranite, respectively. The monzogranites are characterized as strongly peraluminous, with high contents of SiO2, Al2O3, K2O and Na2O as well as a high differentiation index. They are enriched in light rare earth and large ion lithophile elements with significant negative Eu anomalies and depleted high field‐strength elements. Petrological and geochemical features of these ore‐related monzogranites suggest that they are highly fractionated S‐type granites, derived from remelting of crustal materials in a post‐collisional setting. The geochemistry of zircon and apatite points to a low oxygen fugacity of the ore‐related monzogranite during the magma's evolution. This document explores the geological features of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), specifically focusing on the Beishan orogenic assemblage in northwest China. The discovery of a Silurian gabbro in the Hongbaoshan area is discussed, which extends the Silurian SSZ-type ophiolite belt and has potential for VHMS deposits. The gabbro is primarily composed of plagioclase and pyroxene, with minor hornblende and quartz. Dating methods indicate an age of 423.6 ± 1.7 Ma, consistent with the Hongliuhe ophiolite. The tectonic position of the southwest section of the Qinzhou Bay-Hangzhou Bay Tectonic Junction Zone (QHTJZ) can be determined by examining the Qinzhou-Fangcheng Junction Zone (QFJZ) in Guangxi. This zone is significant because it was the location of the largest earthquake ever recorded in the inland region of South China, specifically the 1936 LingshanM6¾ earthquake in Guangxi. Therefore, this region serves as an optimal location for researching the origins of intraplate earthquakes in South China. This study presents a display of a broadband magnetotelluric (MT) prospecting profile that traverses the Guangxi QFJZ and the Lingshan earthquake zone, extending from the northwest (NW) to the southeast (SE). A resistivity structure model was generated using three-dimensional (3D) inversion technology along the profile. The main faults in QFJZ were analyzed in terms of their deep extension forms and tectonic attributes. This analysis was performed by integrating the results obtained from geology, gravity, wave velocity ratio, Global Position System (GPS), and geothermal flow. The results showed that (1) the Dongzhong-Xiaodong fault (DXf), the eastern Fangcheng-Lingshan fault (FLf2), and the eastern Hepu-Beiliu fault (HBf2) were all trans-crustal deep faults, and crust-mantle ductile shear zones developed in the deep part. Two electrical boundary zones, DXf and HBf2, were identified. DXf inclined towards the northwest, while HBf2 inclined towards the southeast. The Fangcheng-Lingshan fault (FLf) exhibits a tectonic style resembling a "flower" shape in the upper crust. In the deeper section, it is characterized by an electrical boundary zone that gradually slopes towards the southeast direction. (2) The Hunan-Guangxi Passive Continental Margin (HGPCM) on the NW side of DXf had a stratified resistivity structure and relatively stable Bouguer gravity anomalies, which conformed to the quasi-craton tectonic attribute of the local failure at the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Block (YB). The southeastern side of this block is marked by the presence of the QFJZ and Yunkai Magmatic Arc (YKMA). These areas exhibit varying Bouguer gravity anomalies, indicating a combination of high and low resistivity in their electrical structures. This suggests that this zone has undergone multiple stages of structural evolution and transformation. The giant high-resistivity body under the Qinzhou-Fangcheng Remnant Ocean Basin (QFROB) might be the trace left by the extinction of the South China Ocean and the collision orogeny between YB and the Cathaysian Block (CB). The presence of sub-low-resistivity layers in the middle-lower crust between the Liuwandashan Magmatic Arc (LMA) and YKMA indicates that this particular zone is being influenced from a distance by magmatic activities originating from the Leiqiong mantle. (3) The focal area of the 1936 Lingshan earthquake was located in the brittle high-resistivity body with a low strain rate. Under the coupling action of NWW-SEE regional tectonic stress and deep thermodynamic force, the brittle high-resistivity body in the upper crust became the main body for accumulating the tectonic stress. The Lingshan earthquake occurred due to the dextral strike-slip fracture instability of FLf2, a rock layer with slightly lower strength in the sub-high-resistivity zone. This instability was triggered when the accumulated stress reached the ultimate rock strength. The unveiling of the seismogenic model of the Lingshan earthquake, as presented in this study, holds significant scientific importance in comprehending the factors contributing to intraplate earthquakes in the South China region. Magma emplacement can restrict the nature and distribution of an ore deposit, and is an important topic for the study of mineralization mechanisms. Previous studies of magma emplacement have focused mainly on the superimposed mineralization of multi-stage magma in time, whereas the superimposed characteristics and mineralization of different magma emplacement in space are unclear. We estimate a 3-D multiple geophysical model in the Shuangjianzishan Ag–Pb–Zn district, northeastern China, using gravity, magnetic, magnetotelluric and seismic data. The model describes the distribution of buried magmatic rocks related to mineralization in the ore district and highlights the detailed structure and connection of volcanism and intrusion. The volcanism is characterized by a tree-like structure consisting of a near-conical channel and an annular fault system; the intrusion appears as a dome-shaped structure, and its lateral distribution is controlled by faults. The geophysical results reveal a deep fault system connecting volcanism and intrusion. Combining the results with regional geology, petrophysical properties and borehole information, we propose a composite metallogenic model for the ore district, which is that the volcanism caused the ore-bearing magma to migrate to the present-day location of the base of the ore deposit through the deep fault system, and formed an intrusive complex with the ore-bearing magma emplaced in a dome below the present-day location of the deposit. This resulted in the formation of complex and fault-controlled ore bodies. Reviewing the global metallogenic characteristics related to magmatism, our results demonstrate the magma emplacement pattern of a composite volcanic-intrusive system may be an important factor for the formation of super-large deposits. The Nanling metallogenic belt in South China hosts ∼50 percent of the world's tungsten (W), ∼20 percent tin (Sn), and other critical metals. However, the factors controlling ore distribution and types are still debated, due partly to the lack of high‐resolution crustal models. We apply an array‐based receiver function imaging method to resolve the fine‐scale crustal structure using a newly deployed dense nodal array across the belt. We find weak Moho converting phases in the northern belt, indicating a gradual crust‐mantle transition distinct from the sharp transitions observed elsewhere. The weak Moho spatially correlates with a major fault zone, A‐type granite distribution, and Sn ore deposits. Combining with geochemical and petrological evidence, we propose that the gradual crust‐mantle transition is attributed to, and likely facilitated, the mixing of mantle materials with the crust, thus contributing to Sn and other Mesozoic ore formations in the northern Nanling belt. Here we apply seismic imaging to delineate the subsurface structure of the Nanling metallogenic belt in South China using hundreds of sensors. We propose that the imaged gradual crust‐mantle transition, which corresponds likely to an inherited lithospheric weak zone, could serve as a magmatic pathway for mantle materials to flux into the lower crust, thus contributing to critical ore deposits. The Dahongshan large-scale iron (Fe)–copper (Cu) polymetallic deposit is in the Proterozoic metallogenic domain on the western margin of the Yangtze Block. It is a typical representative of Fe-Cu polymetallic composite mineralization in the Kangdian area. The deposit comprises a group of layered orebodies formed by volcanic exhalation sedimentation and metamorphism, and a group of vein-like orebodies formed by hydrothermal superposition. The large-scale mapping of altered lithofacies in the deposit has resolved issues of weak links and unclear mineralization and alteration zoning of hydrothermal superimposed deposits within the study area. The mineralization type, hydrothermal alteration type and intensity, mineral assemblage, and mineral structure of the vein-type Cu polymetallic deposits during the hydrothermal superposition period are meticulously analyzed and studied. Finally, the zoning relationships of vein orebodies (mineralization) are summarized. On the basis of the results of the study of the distribution pattern of this mineral body, a mineralization alteration zoning model of the hydrothermal superposition period is constructed. The results show that the alteration is primarily silicification, carbonation, and chloritization, and the mineralization is chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, and pyrite. The Dibadu anticline and the cutting layer faults and fractures strictly control the hydrothermal alteration zoning. The mineralization alteration zoning from the core to the flank is divided into coarse vein zone (I) → stockwork zone (II) → veinlet zone (III). The corresponding mineral assemblages are quartz–calcite–chalcocite–bornite–(native copper) (I) → calcite–dolomite–quartz–bornite–chalcopyrite–chlorite (II) → dolomite–quartz–chalcopyrite–(pyrite) (III), where the stockwork zone has the most substantial mineralization. The mineral assemblages of each alteration zone, the characteristics of rare earth elements of typical samples, and the test results on the fluid inclusions confirm that pH and Eh primarily control the zoning mechanism. This study has significance for deepening the understanding of the composite metallogenic system, guiding deep and peripheral prospecting, and providing significant enlightenment for the study of this type of deposit. The Port Radium U-Cu-Ni-Co-Ag deposit in northwestern Canada is hosted within a mineral system that has generated a variety of mineralization styles from iron oxide-copper-gold to iron oxide-apatite, porphyry, skarn, and epithermal. Their genesis is linked to an extensive subduction-related magmatism that formed widespread dacite-rhyodacite-andesite volcanic and volcanoclastic sequences (~1.87 Ga), which have been intruded by their equivalent intrusive plutons. Pervasive and intensive hydrothermal alterations, including albitic, magnetite-actinolite-apatite, potassic ± albitic, phyllic, and propylitic occurred before the main sulfide, sulfarsenide, and uraninite vein-type mineralization. Although scarce sulfide minerals formed at the beginning of the hydrothermal activity, the main polymetallic arsenide-sulfarsenide-sulfide ± uraninite vein-type mineralization occurred during the epithermal stage. In addition to the common arsenides and sulfarsenides including nickeline, cobaltite, rammelsbergite, safflorite, skutterudite, gersdorffite, and arsenopyrite, three unique sulfarsenides were also found: Co0.67Ni0.32Fe0.02S0.19As2.80, which could be a sulfur-rich skutterudite, Ni0.85Co0.15S0.39As1.60, and Ni0.69Co0.31S0.47As1.52, which are chemically comparable to the Port Radium rammelsbergite with substantial addition of S and Co; they could be the solid solution product of gersdorffite-cobaltite or safflorite-rammelsbergite. Since the early Paleozoic, numerous metallogenic events produced in the Sardinian massif a singular concentration of mineral deposits of various kinds. Among them, the Variscan metallogenic peak represents a late Paleozoic phase of diffuse ore formation linked to the tectonomagmatic evolution of the Variscan chain. Two main classes of ores may primarily be attributed to this peak: (1) mesothermal orogenic-type As-Au ± W ± Sb ores, only found in E Sardinia, and (2) intrusion-related Sn-W-Mo-F and base metals-bearing ores found in the whole Sardinian Batholith, but mainly occurring in central–south Sardinia. Both deposit classes formed diachronously during the Variscan post-compressional extension. The orogenic-type ores are related to regional-scale flows of mineralizing fluids, and the intrusion-related ores occur around fertile intrusions of different granite suites. Metallogenic reconstructions suggest almost entirely crustal processes of mineralization without a significant contribution from the mantle. We summarized these processes with a holistic approach and conceptualized the Sardinian Variscan Mineral System (SVMS), a crustal-scale physical system of ore mineralization in the Sardinian basement. The SVMS required suitable metal sources in the crust and diffuse crustal reworking triggered by heat that allowed (a) the redistribution of the original metal budget of the crust in magmas by partial melting and (b) the production of metal-bearing fluids by metamorphic dehydration. Heat transfer in the Sardinian Variscan crust involved shear heating in lithospheric shear zones and the role of mantle uplift as a thermal engine in an extensional tectonic setting. Lithospheric shear zones acted as effective pathways in focusing fluid flow through a large-scale plumbing system into regional-scale structural traps for ores. Pre-Variscan metal sources of metallogenic relevance may have been (1) the magmatic arc and magmatic arc-derived materials of Ordovician age, extensively documented in E Sardinia crust, and (2) an inferred Precambrian crystalline basement lying under the Phanerozoic crustal section, whose presence has been assumed from geophysical data and from petrological and geochemical characteristics of granite suites. At shallower crustal levels, important contributions of metals may have come from pre-Variscan ore sources, such as the Pb-Zn MVT Cambrian ores of SW Sardinia or the REE-bearing Upper Ordovician paleoplacers of E Sardinia. The supergiant Shuangjianzishan (SJS) Ag–Pb–Zn deposit, located in the southern Great Xing'an Range (SGXR), is the largest Ag deposit in China. The SJS deposit can be divided into two ore blocks: the Shuangjianzishan ore block and the Xinglongshan ore block. Given the importance of the Xinglongshan ore block in the SJS deposit, our work is focused on the Xinglongshan ore block. The vein orebodies in the Xionglongshan ore block mainly occur in the NW-, NNW-, and NNE-trending fault zones, and its mineralization is mainly related to a deep concealed syenogranite. Here, we present new geochronology, isotope geochemistry, and fluid inclusion data for the Xinglongshan ore block and provide additional insights into the metallogenic mechanism of the deposit. The dating results show that the syenogranite related to the mineralization formed at approximately 137 Ma, which is coherent with some previous age determinations in sulfides from the ore deposit. The mineralization of the Xinglongshan ore block can be divided into four stages: sphalerite–arsenopyrite–pyrite–chalcopyrite–quartz stage (stage I), sphalerite–galena–pyrite–silver-bearing mineral–quartz stage (stage II), sphalerite–galena–silver-bearing mineral–quartz–calcite stage (stage III), and weakly mineralized quartz–calcite stage (stage IV). Four types of fluid inclusions (FIs) have been identified within quartz and calcite veins: liquid-rich, gas-rich, pure-liquid, and pure-gas FIs. The homogenization temperatures in the four stages exhibit a gradual decrease, with stage I ranging from 253 to 302 °C, stage II from 203 to 268 °C, stage III from 184 to 222 °C, and stage IV from 153 to 198 °C, respectively. The salinity for stages I, II, III, and IV falls within the ranges of 3.4–6.6 wt% NaCl eqv., 2.6–7.2 wt% NaCl eqv., 2.9–7.0 wt% NaCl eqv., and 1.2–4.8 wt% NaCl eqv., respectively, indicative of a low-salinity ore-forming fluid. The δ18Owater and δD values of the ore-forming fluid span from −13.9‰ to 7.4‰ and −145‰ to −65‰, with δ13CV-PDB values between −11.0‰ and −7.9‰. These values suggest that the ore-forming fluid predominantly originated from a mixture of magmatic and meteoric water. The 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios of sulfides range from 18.278 to 18.361, 15.530 to 15.634, and 38.107 to 38.448, respectively. These ratios imply that the ore-forming material was primarily derived from the Early Cretaceous granitic magma, which resulted from the mixing of depleted mantle- and crustal-derived magmas. The fluid mixing was the dominant mechanism for mineral precipitation. The Xinglongshan ore block belongs to a magmatic-hydrothermal vein-type deposit related to the Early Cretaceous syenogranite, and the Shuangjianzishan ore block belongs to an intermediate sulfidation epithermal deposit related to coeval subvolcanic rocks. A detailed textural, mineralogical, and geochemical investigation of beach sands and seabed sediments from Thorikos and Oxygono bays of the eastern coast of Lavrion is performed, with the objective the provenance of the ore types exploited, the processing and beneficiation types employed, and the respective exploitation periods. The Oxygono Bay beach and seabed sands are highly heterogeneous, predominated by lithic clasts originating from surrounding lithologies. Examination of the fine-grained fraction from the seabed core revealed that only the upper 50 cm was affected by recent and ancient mining activity. Combining the mineralogy and geochemistry of Oxygono Bay sands with the radiochronological model of Pappa et al. (2018), four periods of recent exploitation (mid-19th—late 20th century) are distinguished: (1) The "1860–1875 A.D.", involving exploitation of the ancient smelter slags, (2) the "1875–1900 A.D.", with ongoing ancient smelter slag processing and the commencement of underground sulfide ore exploitation, (3) the "1900–1930 A.D.", where heavy mining of the carbonate-hosted Pb–Zn–Ag ore occurs, (4) the "1930–1980"), where the implementation of flotation-type processing assisted in the exploitation of the poor skarn and porphyry-type ores. The latest "1980 A.D.—to date" period depicts the cessation of all mining and processing activities. The southern Thorikos Bay beach sands are homogeneous and fine-grained, are mainly composed of gangue and pyrite, and show elevated Fe, As, Pb, Zn, and Mn content. The southern Thorikos Bay beach sands clearly point to exploitation and processing by flotation of the carbonate-hosted Pb–Zn–Ag sulfide ore, and the tailings were disposed of from the nearby facilities to southern Thorikos Bay without any environmental concern during the "1930–1980 A.D." period. The Naozhi deposit of northeast China comprises intermediate-sulfidation epithermal-style veins and subeconomic, porphyry-style Cu mineralization hosted by dioritic to granitic plutons, which formed at ca. 130 Ma. These intrusive phases were fed by magmas that ponded at mid- to upper-crustal levels and were finally emplaced at < 0.6 kbar based on amphibole geobarometry. The magmas were moderately oxidized (∆NNO − 0.35 to 2.21; with NNO being the nickel–nickel–oxide buffer) and water-rich (mostly > 4 wt. %), and likely experienced a relatively prolonged evolution in the shallow crust rather than at depth. Magma devolatilization and fluid exsolution at shallow-crustal levels lead to decreases in both oxygen fugacity (log ƒO2 − 10.96 to − 14.13) and water content (6.53 to 2.26 wt. %) at < 2.5 kbar pressures. Thermochronological data of zircon and apatite, thermal history modeling, and geological preservation record complex time–temperature histories of the mineralized intrusive rocks, from the cooling of the parent magma itself through burial by younger volcanic rocks to protracted erosion with time. It is estimated that < 2 km of pre-mineralization material was removed from the top of the Naozhi magmatic–hydrothermal system from the Early Cretaceous to present. Some of the high heat production granites in the continental crust have been suggested to be linked with I‐, A‐, and partly S‐type granitoids which aided in the formation of associated polymetallic deposits. Here, we investigate the Shibaogou and Laojunshan plutons in the Luanchuan region, East Qinling Orogen, China, and integrate these with published geochemical information to compute the rate of heat production per unit rock mass (RHP value, unit μW/m3). In addition, we also present RHP contour maps of all the Late Mesozoic granitic plutons in the Luanchuan region, with a view to evaluate the link among the high heat production granites, their petrogenesis and mineralization. The RHP values of granitoids in the Luanchuan region vary from 1.7 to 14.44, with the Nannihu pluton showing the highest RHP peak value of 6.04, whereas the Huoshenmiao pluton has the lowest RHP peak value of 2.59. The RHP values have a positive correlation with the degree of magma differentiation, as suggested that the Nannihu pluton is a highly fractionated I‐type granite and the Huoshenmiao pluton is a quartz diorite. This is also consistent with U, Th and K which are incompatible elements that tend to enter the melt during magma evolution. Furthermore, the higher RHP value intrusions (e.g., Nannihu, Daping) show close genetic links with high economic deposits, whilst the plutons with lower RHP values are generally related to small ore deposits. We envisage that the high heat production granites underwent protracted cooling process, which promote the convection and circulation of hydrothermal fluids, so that ore‐forming materials (e.g., Mo, W) can sufficiently accumulate and precipitate as economic mineralization. This also indicates that these granitoids with relatively higher RHP values have a greater metallogenic potential. The RHP contour mapping results show high RHP value domains ranging from 2.68 to 4.82 in the southeast and northeast segments of the Shibaogou pluton, whereas the RHP values of other regions in this pluton vary from 2.14 to 2.68. In contrast, the high RHP value regions mostly occur within the western and eastern parts of the Laojunshan pluton, and range from 4.91 to 6.21. Other regions in the Laojunshan pluton have low RHP values in the range of 2.69–4.91. A few Mo‐W deposits are mostly hosted in the southeastern part of the Shibaogou pluton, implying that these regions with high RHP values might have higher metallogenic potential. The contour mapping of RHP maximum, minimum, average and peak values of all the Mesozoic granitic plutons in the Luanchuan region also show high value zones within and/or at peripheral regions of the Nannihu ore fields and these segments between the Nannihu and Yuku ore fields, which suggest that these zones likely have high potential for Mo‐W exploration. The genetic link between subduction- and collision-related porphyry Cu deposits (PCD) is still not well understood. The Gangdese porphyry Cu belt (GPCB) in southern Tibet hosts two parallel E–W-oriented metallogenic subbelts, including a southern Jurassic subduction-related and a northern Miocene post-collision PCD subbelt. In this study, we combine new and published whole-rock major and trace element data, Cu isotopic compositions and zircon trace element data of Jurassic magmatic rocks from the GPCB. Combined Sr/Y and La/Yb crustal thickness proxies confirm the south to north geometry of the Jurassic arc-back-arc system across the GPCB. The southern Jurassic magmatic arc rocks have systematically higher whole-rock V/Yb ratios, δ65Cu values and zircon Eu/Eu* ratios compared to those of the northern back-arc region. This suggests that Jurassic southern arc magmas had higher oxygen fugacity and H2O concentration than the contemporaneous northern back-arc magmas, which was controlled by a steep subduction geometry of the Neo-Tethyan oceanic slab. Hydrous and oxidized magmas resulted in Cu enrichment during magma evolution and generation of Jurassic PCD in the southern magmatic arc by inhibiting early sulfide saturation at deep crustal levels. In contrast, the northern back-arc magmas were less oxidized and less hydrous, which triggered early sulfide saturation, resulting in segregation of Cu-bearing sulfides in lower crustal cumulates that provided a favorable metal source for later Miocene PCD in the northern subbelt. Our study indicates that the Jurassic subduction geometry controlled the formation and distribution of Jurassic subduction-related and Miocene post-collision-related PCD in the GPCB. Mantle xenoliths from Santo Domingo, Ventura-Espíritu Santo and Durango volcanic fields (Mesa Central in Mexico) experienced low degrees of partial melting in the stability fields of garnet (⁓ 2%) and spinel peridotites (⁓ 2–4%), and interacted with hydrous alkaline melts possibly during the Basin and Range extensional tectonism since Late Oligocene. Enclosed and intergranular grains of monosulfide solid solution (mss) in Santo Domingo peridotites are residues after the extraction of 0.1–0.5 fractions of Ni-Cu-rich sulphide melt during mantle melting events. On the other hand, glo˜bular sulphides (pentlandite ± chalcopyrite) hosted in glass veinlets in the Ventura-Espíritu Santo and Durango peridotites crystallized from Ni-Cu-rich droplets of sulphide melt, immiscible in the Quaternary silicate magmas that brought the xenoliths to the surface. Rhenium-depletion model ages of these sulphide populations indicate that part of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) of the Oaxaquia terrane (beneath Santo Domingo and Ventura-Espíritu Santo) originated in the Archaean-Paleoproterozoic as the southernmost extension of the Laurentia craton, and was assembled with the Central terrane (beneath Durango) during the Grenville orogeny (⁓ 1.0 Ga). Early Palaeozoic (⁓ 500 Ma) model ages common to sulphides from the peridotite xenoliths of the three volcanic fields suggest that the Oaxaquia-Central composite block split away from North America during the Rodinia break-up and experienced the Pan-African-Brasiliano orogeny that led to Gondwana assembly. During the Cenozoic, the reactivation of translithospheric faults bounding this composite old SCLM provided preferential pathways for focusing the ascent of ore-productive magmas/fluids associated with the subduction-related metallogeny of the Pacific active margin of Mexico. Results of modern studies of the earth's crust based on the gravitational data of the GOCE satellite have been used for the first time in a comparative metallogenic analysis of the geodynamic settings of the formation of polymetallic deposits in the folded frame of the Siberian and East European platforms. It is shown that deposits of the sedimentary exhalative deposits (SEDEX) type are more often located in the earth's crust with the dominating development of the lower "basaltic" layer. Pyrite copper and lead–zinc volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, as well as some manifestations of the SEDEX type, occur in supra-subduction island-arc and accretionary settings in the crust with the dominating development of the middle "granitic" layer. Pb-Zn ores of the Mississippi Valley type (MVT) are localized in deep pericratonic sedimentary oil and gas basins on the shelf and continental slope, with no spatial relationship to the stratification of the earth's crust. The Ag polymetallic mineralization of Taimyr and the Western Verkhoyansk region are confined to deep pericratonic rift troughs on the passive continental margin. They have a similar ore-bearing environment and can be combined into a single silver polymetallic Taimyr–Western Verkhoyansk belt. The results confirm the prospects of Pb-Zn deposits in Central and Eastern Taimyr and also in the Saurey ore region (Polar Urals), indicating the need for their further research. The Ghanzi-Chobe Belt in Botswana's portion of the Kalahari Copper Belt is home to Cu-Ag deposits. However, due to a lack of sufficient radiometric data, the origin of these deposits has remained a source of contention. We used sericite 40Ar/39Ar and in-situ biotite LA-ICP-MS Rb-Sr geochronology in samples from two mineralized zones of the Ghanzi-Chobe Belt to better bracket mineralization timing and then elaborate on the genesis of Cu-Ag mineralization in this portion of the Kalahari Copper Belt. Radiometric data suggest multiple mineralization events of Cryogenian (ca. 670 Ma) and Ediacaran (ca. 588 and ca. 566 Ma) ages and highlight mineralization events that were previously unknown. The ca. 670 Ma (sericite 40Ar/39Ar) event coincided with the final break-up of the Rodinian supercontinent. The 588.3 ± 0.2 Ma (sericite 40Ar/39Ar) and 565.6 ± 6.5 Ma (biotite Rb-Sr) fluid pulse events correspond to syn-orogenic and syn-metamorphic Cu-Ag mineralization episodes, which occurred over a 72-million-year period (considering the previously reported molybdenite Re/Os age of 515.9 ± 2 Ma) that overlaps with the window time frame of basin inversion and metamorphism in the Kalahari Copper Belt. The ca. 670 Ma event, as well as the extended age range of syn-orogenic Cu-Ag mineralization, contributed to the refinement of the genetic model of sedimentary rock-hosted Cu-Ag mineralization in the Ghanzi-Chobe Belt and the Kalahari Copper Belt. Our radiometric data shed new light on Cu-Ag mineralization in the Ghanzi-Chobe Belt and the Kalahari Copper Belt. As the identification of numerous pulses of mineralization is an important factor in the formation of giant-to-supergiant sedimentary rock-hosted Cu-Ag deposits, the possibility of such deposits occurring within the Kalahari Copper Belt cannot be discounted.
