3. The Educational Use of Facebook as a Social Networking Site in Animal Physiology Classes

- Abstract
This study aims at performing a sample application of the educational use of Facebook as a social networking site in Animal Physiology classes, and to determine student's' views on the application. The research sample was composed of 29 third year undergraduate students attending the Biology Education Department of Hacettepe University. The Applied part of the research was undertaken during the Spring semester of the 2014-2015 academic year in Animal Physiology classes. A Facebook group called "BIO 314 Animal Physiology" was created for sharing purposes in relation to the course content. The lecturer, as well as the students, shared the group for fourteen weeks on several occasions, and made comments on instances of sharing. In addition, the lecturer assigned the students tasks for the activities and the students were expected to fulfill the tasks. Students' views were obtained through a survey of open-ended questions prepared as the tool of data collection, then the views were put to qualitative analysis. The results showed that the use of Facebook for educational purposes made factors such as sharing, helping each other, increasing communication, reaching the lecturer and visualising the content, easier for students, but there were also students who held negative views on the issue.

6. The Role of Metaverse Technology in Education: A Systematic Review of Opportunities, Challenges, and Educational Potential.

This study investigates the application of the metaverse in educational settings, focusing on its development, implementation, and impact on learning outcomes. Employing a systematic literature review methodology, the research meticulously followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased collection of data. Searches were conducted on major databases including Web of Science and Scopus, covering literature from January 2007 to June 2023. Consequently, a comprehensive bibliometric review was executed, harnessing the repositories of Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. In pursuit of a comprehensive educational objective, the approach eschewed the imposition of restrictions pertaining to time frames, pedagogical stratification, or subject-specific criteria. Given the novelty of the metaverse topic and considering the inclusionary and exclusionary parameters, a compilation of 17 scholarly pieces was critically evaluated. The results elucidate the metaverse's intrinsic capacity to augment and revolutionize pedagogy, fostering elevated educational yields and bolstering student involvement and enthusiasm. The study categorizes the primary aims of metaverse applications in education, which include the development of virtual worlds, creation of specific educational tools such as avatars and virtual labs, and pedagogical innovations tailored for immersive environments. Key findings suggest that the educational metaverse fosters significant improvements in student engagement and collaboration, enhances digital proficiency, and supports diverse pedagogical approaches. Despite these advantages, challenges related to technological integration, accessibility, and the scalability of findings due to small sample sizes were identified. The study underscores the need for future research to expand on methodological diversity and larger participant groups to validate and generalize the results across different educational contexts. This research contributes to the academic discourse by providing a detailed overview of the current state of metaverse utilization in education, highlighting both its potential and limitations. It also seeks to uncover the potential benefits of deploying such game-centred methods in education. This systematic review is based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach, and includes a thorough search of five interdisciplinary databases. It includes a comprehensive screening process with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, focusing on quantitative experimental research that investigates the application of gamification and GBL in the context of physical education. The findings highlight the substantial role of GBL and gamification as effective educational tools, particularly noting their positive effects on student engagement, academic achievements, and the enhancement of health and physical fitness levels. This study extensively explores the opportunities presented by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in legal practices, the challenges encountered, and the ethical issues that emerge in this process. AI technologies offer unique advantages to legal professionals across a broad spectrum, from lawyering activities to forensic enforcement applications and judicial activities. These advantages include innovative applications such as rapid analysis of large data sets, decision support systems, and prediction of case outcomes. However, the use of AI in the legal field also raises significant issues such as algorithmic transparency, biases in data sets, accountability, and responsibility. The research provides strategic recommendations on how AI technologies can be effectively integrated into legal practice while assessing the impact of AI applications on judicial processes and individuals' fundamental rights. Specifically, it focuses on the legal framework and ethical principles of AI-supported decision-making processes. The study discusses the steps needed to increase transparency during the development and use of algorithms, reduce biases, and strengthen justice. In conclusion, this research focuses on the ethical, legal, and political frameworks that will shape the applications of AI in the legal field; it develops management strategies and policy recommendations necessary for the fair, transparent, and accountable management of AI technologies. Environmental issues pose significant challenges in contemporary society, and environmental education plays a crucial role in fostering a sustainable future. Within this context, this research aims to explore the pioneering role of the Foundation for Environmental Education in Turkey in promoting environmental consciousness and implementing education programs rooted in sustainability. The research adopts a qualitative research methodology, specifically documentary analysis. The study material encompasses up-to-date information obtained from the Foundation's official website, published reports, projects, and related documents. The collected data were thematically analyzed employing descriptive analysis techniques to address the research objectives comprehensively. The findings reveal that the Foundation has undertaken extensive endeavors in the field of environmental education. Notably, it organizes diverse educational programs, projects, and initiatives targeted at fostering environmental awareness, particularly among young individuals and children. The pedagogical approaches, learning methods, and interactive practices with nature employed by the Foundation have garnered considerable attention. Consequently, it can be inferred that the Foundation has effectively established significant networks in the domain of environmental education through both national and international collaborations. Based on the research outcomes, the Foundation assumes a pioneering role in environmental education, making notable contributions to augmenting environmental consciousness, advancing sustainability-oriented education, and cultivating societal sensitivity towards environmental challenges. Furthermore, the Foundation's proactive activities reflect a strategic approach aimed at instigating social change concerning environmental issues. This research aims to provide a robust foundation for comprehending the Foundation's initiatives in environmental education, pedagogical approaches, and subsequently, contribute to the development of effective strategies to enhance environmental awareness and promote a sustainable future. It is an ecopsychological approach with a quadruple structure consisting of the individual, humans, non-humans, and the entire ecosystem. When one of these four structures is damaged, the individual with this identity perceives the damage as having been committed against him and takes action. Because he has a close relationship with nature and considers himself to be a part of it. The purpose of this research, which stems from this emphasis, is to investigate the perspectives of the new generation of students, also known as digital natives, who prefer to spend their leisure time with mobile devices rather than in nature, on their ecological identities. Within the context of this primary objective, the research will examine how high school students perceive and position themselves in terms of their relationships with the environment, taking into account a variety of variables that may influence their ecological identities. Within the scope of the research's objective, the causal-comparative model was selected as the research's model. The research population consists of high school students in Hatay Province. The accessible sampling method determined the study's sample size. In this instance, the research sample consists of 199 high school students. The questionnaire technique, which is the most commonly used method as a data collection technique, was employed in the study. As data collection instruments, the "Personal Information" and "Ecological Identity Scale" questionnaires created by Walton & Jones (2017) and translated into Turkish by Gezer & lhan (2018) were utilized. The SPSS 25.0 program is utilized for the analysis of the research's findings. It is anticipated that the research's findings will contribute to our understanding of the environmental sensitivity of the individuals who will comprise the following generation., Ekolojik kimlik; bireyin kendisi, insanoğlu, insan dışı varlıklar ve tüm ekosistemden oluşan dörtlü bir yapıdan oluşan ekopsikolojik yaklaşımdır. Bu kimliğe sahip olan birey, bu dörtlü yapıdan birisi zarar gördüğü zaman söz konusu zararı kendisine karşı yapılmış olarak algılar ve harekete geçmektedir. Çünkü bu bireyin doğa ile arasında yakın bir ilişki vardır ve kendisini doğanın bir parçası olarak görmektedir. Tam da bu odak noktadan çıkan araştırmanın amacı, dinlendikleri zamanları, doğa yerine mobil cihazlar ile geçirmeyi tercih eden dijital yerliler olarak da adlandırılan yeni nesil öğrencilerin ekolojik kimliklerine yönelik algılarının incelenmesidir. Bu temel amaç bağlamında araştırmada, lise öğrencilerinin çevre ile ilişkileri açısından kendisini nasıl algıladığı ve konumlandırdığına yönelik ekolojik kimliklerinde etkili olabilecek farklı değişkenlerin dikkate alınarak incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın modeli araştırmanın amacı kapsamında nedensel-karşılaştırmalı (causal-comperative) model olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini Hatay iline bağlı liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerdir. Araştırmanın örneklemi ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda araştırmanın örneklemi ise, 199 lise öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, veri tekniği olarak en sık kullanılan yöntem olan anket tekniğinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama araçları olarak; “Kişisel Bilgiler” ve Walton ve Jones (2017) tarafından geliştirilen Gezer ve İlhan (2018) tarafından Türkçe uyarlaması yapılan “Ekolojik Kimlik Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulguların analizinde SPSS 25.0 Programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçların; gelecek nesli oluşturacak olan bireylerin çevreye duyarlılıklarının anlaşılmasına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Within seconds of writing this sentence, the human population continues to grow, and hundreds of species worldwide face extinction due to human actions towards the environment. Individuals must change their behavior toward the environment to solve environmental issues. Successful educational programs achieve desired thoughts, behaviors, value judgments, knowledge, and skills in people. Biology education is becoming increasingly important as it affects human life, nature, the environment, and sustainable resources. This study's goal is to examine trees' place in the MNE's secondary school biology curriculum, which includes environmental education and biodiversity. This study used document analysis as a qualitative research method. The research uses the MEB Secondary Education Biology Course (9th,10th,11th, and 12th Grades) curriculum. The data were analyzed descriptively. According to the research, there are 3 acquisitions in 9th grade, 5 in 10th grade, and 4 in 11th grade regarding trees in Secondary Education Biology Curriculum. Thus, trees are included in the Secondary Education Biology Curriculum up to the 10th grade., Innerhalb von Sekunden nach dem Schreiben dieses Satzes wächst die menschliche Bevölkerung weiter und Hunderte von Arten weltweit sind aufgrund menschlicher Eingriffe in die Umwelt vom Aussterben bedroht. Einzelpersonen müssen ihr Verhalten gegenüber der Umwelt ändern, um Umweltprobleme zu lösen. Erfolgreiche Bildungsprogramme erreichen die gewünschten Gedanken, Verhaltensweisen, Werturteile, Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten bei Menschen. Biologieunterricht wird immer wichtiger, da er das menschliche Leben, die Natur, die Umwelt und nachhaltige Ressourcen beeinflusst. Ziel dieser Studie ist es, den Stellenwert von Bäumen im Biologielehrplan der Sekundarstufe zu untersuchen, der Umwelterziehung und Biodiversität umfasst. Diese Studie verwendete die Dokumentenanalyse als qualitative Forschungsmethode. Die Forschung verwendet den Lehrplan für den Biologiekurs der MEB-Sekundarstufe (9., 10., 11. und 12. Klasse). Die Daten wurden deskriptiv analysiert. Laut der Studie gibt es 3 Anschaffungen in der 9. Klasse, 5 in der 10. Klasse und 4 in der 11. Klasse in Bezug auf Bäume im Biologie-Lehrplan der Sekundarstufe. So werden Bäume bis zur 10. Klasse in den Biologielehrplan der Sekundarstufe aufgenommen., Bu cümleyi yazdığımız birkaç saniye içinde bile insan nüfusu artmaya devam etmekte ve insanların çevreye yönelik davranışlarıyla dünya üzerindeki yüzlerce türün neslinin tükenmesine ve binlercesinin de yok olma tehlikesiyle karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Oluşan çevre sorunlarının çözümü için, bireylerin çevreye yönelik davranışlarını değiştirmeleri gerekmektedir. Tam da bu noktada bireylerde istendik düşünce, davranış, değer yargısı, bilgi ve beceri kazandırma süreci olarak çevre eğitimine ve çevre eğitiminin amaçlarının etkili öğretim programları ile gerçekleşmektedir. Fen ve matematik disiplinleri içerisinde yer alan biyoloji eğitimi; insan yaşamı, doğa, çevre ve sürdürülebilir kaynaklar arasındaki ilişkileri etkilemesi nedeniyle önemi gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bu bağlamdan yola çıkılarak araştırmanın amacı, çevre eğitimi ve biyoçeşitlilik kavramı içinde yer alan ağaçlar konusunun MEB’te uygulanmakta olan ortaöğretim biyoloji dersi öğretim programındaki yerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın modeli nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma dokümanı ise MEB Ortaöğretim Biyoloji Dersi (9.,10.,11. ve 12. Sınıflar) öğretim programıdır. Elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; Ortaöğretim Biyoloji Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda ağaçlar konusunun yeri ile ilgili; 9. Sınıf düzeyinde 3 kazanım, 10. Sınıf düzeyinde 5 kazanım ve 11. Sınıf düzeyinde ise 4 kazanım olduğu saptanmıştır. Buna göre Ortaöğretim Biyoloji Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda en fazla 10. Sınıf düzeyinde ağaçlar konusunun yer aldığı söylenebilir.

34. Biology Teachers' Level of Recognition of Trees in Their Close Environment

The purpose of this study is to determine how effectively biology instructors at high schools connected with the Ministry of National Education identify trees in their immediate surroundings in the context of trees, which are critical to the notion of biodiversity. The population comprises of biology instructors who worked in high schools in various regions of Turkey during 2020 and 2021 under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education. The research sampled 262 biology teachers volunteer using an accessible sampling technique. The research model is a relational one that is based on the general survey model, a quantitative research technique. Mercan and Köseoglu's (2019) "Given Tree Recognition (GTR) Test" was used to gather data for the study. The Mann Whitney U Test was used to compare matched groups and the Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to compare more than two groups in the analysis of the data collected throughout the study. According to the study's results, biology instructors' capacity to identify trees in their immediate surroundings is limited. It is deemed critical to ascertain biology instructors' degree of recognition of trees in their immediate surroundings, since the research's findings begin with an understanding of the importance of biodiversity, which is one of the most critical problems in the conceptual framework of biology teaching.

In the era we live in, humanity is faced with numerous problems that transcend national boundaries and affect all of humanity. These issues include global climate change, warfare, terrorism, epidemics like Covid19, immigration, and income inequality. However, most of these problems are the result of human actions, which means that they can be resolved by human beings. Active citizenship, by its very nature, entails individual responsibility. However, shirking or ignoring this responsibility allows these problems to persist and worsen. Such indifference and avoidance not only undermine the hard-fought rights of the past but also inflict irreparable damage upon nature and humanity as they exist today. This has significant implications for democracy and life itself. Supporting formal education in developing these competencies is of utmost importance. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) also play a crucial role in providing the necessary support for formal education to meet these expectations. The aim of this study is to examine NGOs operating in the field of biology education in Germany. The research employs document analysis as a qualitative research method, utilizing descriptive analysis for data analysis. The research findings indicate that NGOs operating in biology education in Germany play a vital role in promoting educational equality of opportunity. 37. A Comparative Study about High School Teachers’ Neuromyths in Turkey and Israel.

The aim of this study is to determine the neuromyths among Turkish and Israeli high school teachers and compare them across countries. The Educational Neuroscience Data Collection Scale, which was adapted into Turkish by Gülsün and Köseoğlu (2020) from Dekker et al. (2012) with regard to the brain and its functioning, was utilized as the data collection tool. Teachers working in Turkish high schools and teachers working in the Israeli Ministry of Education constituted the study sample. Between June 2019 and December 2020, there were 184 teachers (Turkey:112; Israel: 72) who volunteered to participate in the study. The research model is a relational investigation based on the general screening model. Data analysis included t-test and chi-square tests; when the independent variable was continuous, the t-test was used for independent groups, and when the independent variable was discrete, the chi-square approach w as used, in accordance with the assumptions required to make group comparisons. According to the results of the study, there were significant differences between countries about the brain functions and the items related to neuromyths. However, no statistically significant difference w as found between the country averages of the items in the data collection tool and the total item. With the intercountry comparison, it is considered that suggestions for eliminating neuromyths of teachers working in countries and suggestions to be made in teacher training programs will be important. The aim of this research is to examine the postgraduate theses on the subject of three-dimensional virtual environments, which is one of the outputs of rapid developments in the field of information technologies, software industry, and communication on the field of education, based on their demographic characteristics, research topics, research methodology, findings section, discussion and conclusion section, and suggestions section. The method of this research is document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. The study documents of the research consist of 15 postgraduate theses, 11 master’s, and 4 doctoral theses, which were published in the National Thesis Center of Turkey between January 2010 and August 2020 on the subject of three-dimensional virtual environments. Analytical themes were also used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study in relation to descriptive analysis and descriptive themes obtained as a result of the deductive analysis. As a result of the research, it was found that there were a small number of postgraduate theses on three-dimensional virtual environments in the field of education., Bu araştırmanın amacı, bilgi teknolojileri, yazılım sektörü ve iletişim alanındaki hızlı gelişmelerin eğitim bilimleri alanındaki çıktılarından biri olan üç boyutlu sanal ortamlar konusu üzerine yapılmış lisansüstü tezlerin demografik özellikleri, araştırma konuları, araştırma yöntemleri bölümü, bulgular bölümü, tartışma ve sonuç bölümü ve öneriler bölümüne göre incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın yöntemi, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma dokümanını Ocak 2010- Ağustos 2020 yılları arasında üç boyutlu sanal ortamlar konusu üzerine yapılmış Ulusal Tez Merkezi’nde yayımlanan 11 yüksek lisans ve 4 doktora tezi olmak üzere toplam 15 lisansüstü tezden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin analizinde, tümevarımsal analiz sonucu elde edilen betimsel analiz ve betimleyici temalarla ilişkili olarak analitik temalar da kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, eğitim bilimleri alanında üç boyutlu sanal ortamlar konusunda yapılmış lisansüstü tezlerin az sayıda olduğu saptanmıştır. İlgili alanyazında üç boyutlu sanal ortamların uygulamasına yönelik yapılacak yeni çalışmalarda araştırmacılara konuyla ilgili uygulamalarda ışık tutacağı ve eğitim bilimleri ve teknolojileri alanına kaktı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının okul dışı öğrenme etkinliklerine yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; 2018-2019 Bahar döneminde, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda 1.,2.,3.,4. ve 5. sınıfta öğrenim gören 52 öğretmen adayından oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örnekleme yöntemi, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden benzeşik örnekleme yolu ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın amacı kapsamında, biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının okul dışı öğrenme etkinliklerine yönelik algılarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçladığından nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Karademir (2013) tarafından okul dışı öğrenme etkinliklerini değerlendirilmesi amacıyla geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış 4 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan “Okul Dışı Öğrenme Etkinlikleri Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler; MAXQDA 2018 Programı kullanılarak içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının okul dışı öğrenme etkinliklerine yönelik algılarının yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının öğretmen olduklarında okul dışı öğrenme etkinlikleri düzenlemeye yönelik görüşlerinin olumlu olduğu da belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamdan yola çıkılarak, araştırmanın sonuçlarının fen bilimleri alanındaki derslerde okul dışı öğrenme etkinliklerinin kullanımında kaynak oluşturacağı düşünülmektedir., The aim of this research is to examine the views of biology teacher candidates regarding out-of-school learning activities. The study group comprised of 1st to 5th grade undergraduate students (N=52), who were taking the course from the Department of Biology Education at the Hacettepe University in 2018-2019 academic year. The sampling method of the study was analogy sampling which is among the intended sampling methods. The aim of the study was to reveal the perceptions of biology teacher candidates for out-of-school learning activities. “Out-of-school learning activities interview form” consisting of 4 semi-structured open-ended questions developed by Karademir (2013) was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data was analyzed using content analysis via the MAXQDA 2018 program. The results of the study showed that the perception of biology teacher candidates for out-of-school learning activities was high. In addition, it was found that the attitudes of candidates, towards organizing extracurricular learning activities when they become teachers was positive. Based on this context, it is believed that the results of the research will create resources for the availability of out-of-school learning activities in courses in the field of natural sciences.

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of STRCT 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools “Tree Science School for Pre-School Students” project, which is based on environmental responsibility awareness from a young age supported for the second time during the 2017-2018 call period, on the recognition levels of pre-school teachers and pre-school children. In this context, the project was carried out in two stages, two days of teacher training with 30 preschool teachers and three days of training with 120 children each day, including 40 preschool children. The activities for tree science education carried out within the scope of the project consist of 17 activities, including 8 activities for pre-school teachers and 9 activities for pre-school children. The activities were prepared with field experts according to the principles of active learning on nature and tree perceptions of the target group of the project. The study group consists of 20 preschool teachers and 120 preschool children. The method of research is an exploratory pattern from mixed method research. The research's data collection tools for pre-school teachers are Ütopya Given Tree Diagnostic (ÜGTD) Test, interview form consisting of two semi-structured open-ended questions; drawing and telling technique for pre-school children. Quantitative data collected in the study were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 Program and Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test; qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis technique with MAXQDA 2018 Program. According to the results of the research; it has been found to have a positive effect on the environmental awareness of both preschool teachers and preschool children., Bu araştırmanın amacı, TÜBİTAK 4004 Doğa Eğitimi ve Bilim Okulları 2017-2018 çağrı döneminde ikinci kez desteklenen küçük yaşlardan itibaren çevresel sorumluluk bilinci temelli “Okul Öncesi Öğrencilerine Yönelik Ağaç Bilim Okulu” Projesi’nin okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin ve okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının ağaçları tanıma düzeylerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu bağlamda ele alınan proje, 30 okul öncesi öğretmeniyle iki günlük öğretmen eğitimi ve her gün 40 okul öncesi dönem çocukları olmak üzere toplamda 120 çocukla olmak üzere üç günlük eğitim olmak üzere iki aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Proje kapsamında gerçekleştirilen etkinlikler ağaç bilimi eğitimlerine yönelik okul öncesi öğretmenleri için 8, okul öncesi dönem çocuklarına yönelik 9 etkinlik olmak üzere toplam 17 etkinlikten oluşmaktadır. Etkinlikler, proje hedef kitlesinin doğa ve ağaç algılarına ilişkin aktif öğrenme ilkelerine göre alan uzmanlarıyla hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme ile belirlenmiş olup, 20 okul öncesi öğretmeni ve 120 okul öncesi dönem çocuklarından oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın yöntemi karma yöntem araştırmalarından açımlayıcı (exploratory) desendir. Araştırmanın veri toplama araçları, okul öncesi öğretmenleri için Ütopya Verilen Ağacı Tanı (ÜVAT) Testi, yarı yapılandırılmış iki açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu; okul öncesi dönem çocukları için resim çizip anlatma tekniğidir. Araştırmada toplanan nicel veriler SPSS 22.0 Programı ile Mann Whitney U testi ve Kruskal Wallis testi kullanılarak; nitel veriler MAXQDA 2018 Programı ile içerik analiz tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; hem okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin hem de okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının çevresel farkındalıklarına olumlu yönde etkisi olduğu saptanmıştır.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının sosyal ağlardan biri olan Facebook’un eğitsel kullanımına yönelik “İnsan Biyolojisi” dersinde gerçekleştirilen uygulamaya yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; 2014-2015 Bahar döneminde, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda 3. sınıfta öğrenim gören 19 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının sosyal ağ olarak Facebook'un eğitsel kullanımının etkililiğine yönelik algılarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçladığından nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, yarı yapılandırılmış 7 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler; MAXQDA 2018 Programı kullanılarak içerik analiziyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının sosyal ağ olarak Facebook’un öğrenci-öğrenci ve öğrenci-öğretmen arasındaki etkileşimli iletişimde, öğrenci-öğrenci işbirliğinde ve farklı kaynak-materyal paylaşımında ve kalıcı öğrenmeyi sağlamada etkili olduğu saptanmıştır.

The purpose of this researchis to investigation of the activities of the “Tree Science School for PreschoolStudents” project carried out within the scope of Scientific and TechnologicalResearch Council of Turkey (STRCT) 4004 nature education and Science Schools in2018. Activities consist of a total of 16 activities, 7 for preschool teachersand 9 for preschool children. It is aimed that the target audience of theactivities will experience a learning process according to the principles ofactive learning related to nature and tree perceptions. In this context,document analysis from qualitative research methods was used in the research asit aims to examine the qualities of pre-school activities. The analysis unit of the activities that makeup the working document has been designated as ‘descriptive words/concepts’ forformal features and ‘content’ for educational features. The findings, theactivities used in the interpretation and the formal/format characteristics ofthe activities and the educational aspects of these activities are related tothe teaching methods and the objectives for the developmental areas. It is thought that the activities studied in the research and the use ofthem in pre-school tree and nature activities are important for the raising ofindividuals who have an awareness of environmental responsibility from a youngage., Bu araştırmanın amacı, 2018 yılındagerçekleştirilen “TÜBİTAK 4004 Okul Öncesine Yönelik Ağaç Bilim Okulu”projesinin etkinliklerin incelenmesidir. Etkinlikler ağaç bilimi eğitimlerineyönelik okul öncesi öğretmenleri için 7, okul öncesi dönem çocuklarına yönelik9 etkinlik olmak üzere toplam 16 etkinlikten oluşmaktadır. Etkinliklerin hedefkitlesinin doğa ve ağaç algılarına ilişkin aktif öğrenme ilkelerine göreöğrenme süreci yaşamaları amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda araştırmada, okul öncesineyönelik etkinliklerin niteliklerinin incelenmesi amaçladığından nitel araştırmayöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma dokümanını oluşturan etkinliklerin analiz birimi şekilselözellikler için ‘betimsel kavramlar’ ve eğitsel özellikler için ise ‘içerik’olarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, okul öncesi dönemdeki çocuklarındoğa ve ağaç algılarına ilişkin durumun ortaya çıkarılması, yorumlanmasındakullanılan etkinlikler ile etkinliklerin biçimsel/format özellikleri ve bu etkinliklerineğitsel yönleri öğretim yöntemlerine ilişkin bilgiler ve gelişimsel alanlarayönelik hedeflerdir. Araştırmada incelenen etkinliklerin, okul öncesine yönelikağaç ve doğa etkinliklerinde kullanılmasının, küçük yaştan itibaren çevreselsorumluluk bilincine sahip bireylerin yetiştirilmesi için önemli olduğudüşünülmektedir.

The study group consists of 50 high school students who participated in the education project carried out between 08-11 June 2015. The sample of the study was determined by sampling criteria from the intended sampling methods. In this research was collected the “tree and environmental attitude” scale, Ütopya Given Tree Diagnostic (ÜGTD) Test which treescience education developed in accordance with the opinions of field experts for the project application area and a semi-structured interview form consisting of nine open-ended questions related to tree diagnosis test. Research static group pre - test-designed in accordance with the final test pattern. In the analysis of the data obtained from the research, a simultaneous (diversification, unified) pattern was used from the mixed method research patterns. In this context, quantitative findings obtained from the research were evaluated in depth with qualitative findings. Quantitative data obtained from the study were a nalyzed with SPSS 23 Package program and qualitative data were analyzed with MAXQDA 12 Package program. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, it has been determined that the tree education project has a significant impact on the environmental awareness and tree identification levels of high school students., Bu araştırmanın amacı, “9. Sınıf Lise Öğrencilerine Yönelik Ağaçbilim Eğitimi” projesi kapsamında gerçekleştirilen ağaç eğitimlerinin çevre bilincine, ağaç tanıma düzeylerine ve tutumlarına etkilerinin belirlenmesidirAraştırmanın çalışma grubunu 08-11 Haziran 2015 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilen ağaçbilim eğitimi projesine katılan 50 lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, “Ağaç ve Çevre Tutum” ölçeği, proje uygulama alanına yönelik alan uzmanlarının görüşleri alınarak geliştirilmiş Ütopya Verilen Ağacı Tanı (ÜVAT) Testi ve ağaçbilim eğitimi ile ilgili yarı yapılandırılmış dokuz açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma statik grup ön test- son test desene uygun olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin analizinde, karma yöntem araştırma desenlerinden eş zamanlı (çeşitleme, birleşik) desen kullanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, araştırmada elde edilen nicel bulgular nitel bulgularla derinlemesine değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS 23 Paket Programı ile nitel veriler ise, MAXQDA 2018 Programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre ağaçbilim eğitimi projesinin lise öğrencilerinin çevre bilincine ve ağaç tanıma düzeylerine pozitif yönde ve önemli ölçüde etki ettiği belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine identification levels of trees in their immediate surroundings of biology teacher candidates’ who have been studied in the Department of Biology Education of Hacettepe and Gazi Universities.The sample of the study consists of 168 students (155 women, 13 men) who were educated in the Department of biology education at Hacettepe University and Gazi University in the academic year of 2015-2016. In this research both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques were used. As a data collection tool, a Given Tree Diagnostic (GTD) Test and a semi-structured questionnaire consisting of two open-ended semi-structured questionnaires were used to obtain the opinions of the field experts of the tree species that biology teacher candidates can encounter most frequently in their immediate surroundings. Qualitative data obtained from the study were analyzed with MAXQDA 12 and quantitative data were analyzed with SPSS 23 Package Program.According to the data obtained as a result of the measurement tool consisting of two parts; many tree recognition levels in the immediate surroundings of teacher candidates were low. It was determined that the level of identification of pine trees from the trees included in the GTD Test was higher than the others., Bu araştırmanın amacı, Hacettepe ve Gazi Üniversiteleri’nin Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda öğrenim gören öğretmen adaylarının yakın çevrelerindeki ağaçları tanıma düzeylerinin incelenmesidir.Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılında Hacettepe ve Gazi Üniversiteleri’nde Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dal’ında öğrenim gören toplam 168 (155 Kadın, 13 Erkek) öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada hem nitel hem de nicel analiz teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının yakın çevrelerinde en çok karşılaşabilecekleri ağaç türleri alan uzmanlarının görüşleri alınarak geliştirilmiş Verilen Ağacı Tanı (VAT) Testi ve iki açık uçlu yarı yapılandırılmış sorudan oluşan anket kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen nitel veriler MAXQDA 12 Programı ile, nicel veriler ise SPSS 23 Paket Programı ile analiz edilmiştir.İki kısımdan oluşan ölçme aracı sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre; öğretmen adaylarının yakın çevrelerindeki birçok ağacı tanıma düzeylerinin düşük olduğu sonucu ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının VAT Testi’nde yer alan ağaçlardan çam türündeki ağaçları tanıma tanıma düzeylerinin diğerlerine göre daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır.

Bu araştırmanın amacı; biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının öğrenimleri boyunca edindikleri bilimsel bilgileri günlük yaşamlarıyla ilişkilendirebilme durumlarının tespit edilmesidir. Bu amaç bağlamında, araştırma durum çalışması (case study) biçiminde desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; gönüllülük esasına göre Hacettepe Üniversitesi Biyoloji Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda 2017-2018 bahar döneminde 4. ve 5. sınıftaki 26 öğretmen adayından oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının bilimsel bilgileri günlük yaşamları ile ilişkilendirebilme düzeyleri ile ilgili verilere, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Görüşme sorularından elde edilen verilerin analizinde ise, içerik analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre; biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının bilimsel bilgilerini günlük yaşamları ile büyük ölçüde ilişkilendirebildiği saptanmıştır., The purpose of this research; biology teacher candidates are able to associate their scientific knowledge with their daily lives during their education. In context of this purpose, it is designed in form of case study.The study group of the study; on the basis of volunteerism, in Hacettepe University Biology Education Department, in the spring semester of 2017-2018, 26 teachers from 4th and 5th grade. Criteria sampling was used in the research purpose sampling methods. Biology was obtained by using semi-structured interview form in relation to the level of teacher candidates' ability to relate scientific information to their daily lives. In the analysis of the data obtained from interview questions, content analysis method was used. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research; biology teacher candidates can associate scientific knowledge with their daily lives to a great extent.
