This paper analyzes some of Anne Bradstreet’s “marriage” poems, in an attempt to show that the shift in her poetic voice, namely the turn to a more secular approach to poetry, makes her relevant today as the first published poet in America and the first American writer who struggled to establish a new literary paradigm in the New World. The poems “Before the Birth of One of Her Children,” “To My Dear and Loving Husband,” “A Letter to Her Husband, Absent Upon Public Employment”, “Another” I and "Another" II represent a shift from the “nostalgia” of English literature and the establishment of a new, feminine poetic voice, preoccupied with the condition of the woman writer and the fate of poetry in the patriarchal seventeenth-century American society [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper argues that the translation of Romanian literary criticism, as a field of its own, requires the development of terminological databanks meant to provide the terminological standard, not in the sense of a "standardized" glossary of terms, but in that of "harmonized" terminology, organized in community-specific technolects, as defined by the promoters of socioterminology and the sociocognitive theory. This argument is supported with evidence derived from the research results of a case study focused on several samples of Romanian literary criticism originally published in Romanian and subsequently translated into English in Romania in the late twentieth century and the early twenty-first century' before and in the wake of great social, political and cultural changes. The analysis of the research results shows that dynamic terminological "harmonization," as opposed to mere "standardization," is not only possible but also a sine qua non requirement, given its potential to trigger improvements in the quality as well as in the quantity of translations of Romanian literary criticism into the lingua franca of today's world. This article analyses Jack Kerouac's religious and literary "apostasy" from the forms of organized religion and the established norms of prose writing, in an attempt to prove that his turn to Mahayana Buddhism and "spontaneous prose" were the immediate expression of both his struggle to transcend the mundane and (re)create reality through art. He was ready to embrace everything but unwilling to give up anything, and thus he embarked on the Buddhist vehicle(s) to enlightenment, which allowed him to pursue his art and aspire to spiritual awakening. This article focuses on the birth of the Beat Generation in the 1950s as a natural reaction to mainstream culture in postwar America. Even though the Beat Generation's literary productions were initially perceived as (obscene) provocations by allegedly uneducated writers, Beat literature has survived the test of time and is still influential today. The works of the most famous Beats, such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, or William S. An interview with author L. Lamar Wilson is presented. When asked about his first original literary piece, he says that the first text the he published was the tale "The Mysterious Shadow." He states that poets Lucille Clifton and Essex Hemphill influenced his life and writing. He mentions that poetry for him, is his way of making sense of what he feels and see in people, in nature and in himself.
