Abstract

The amplitudes at a series of discrete energies obtained from a previuos analysis of pbar+p -> pi+pi have been used as input to a global energy- dependent analysis of data in the momentum range 360 - 1550 MeV/c. 2. Partial-Wave Amplitudes and Resonances in pbar + p -> pi + pi

Abstract

Partial wave amplitudes have been extracted from accurate data on pbar + p -> pi + pi by a method which incorporates the theoretical constraints of analyticity and crossing symmetry. The resulting solution gives a good fit to the annihilation data and is also consistent with the wealth of information in the crossed channel pi + N -> pi + N. The partial wave amplitudes show evidence for resonances in all partial waves with J < 6, at least one of which, a J = 0+ state, (and possibly another with J = 1-) is unlikely to have a simple quark-antiquark structure., Comment: 17 pages, Revtex, 21 postscript figures

Abstract

Europe today is confronted by fundamental changes in its external environment as well as internally, giving rise to several daunting policy challenges. First, there is the economic challenge manifest in slow growth or even stagnation in many countries, which, although also present in other parts of the world, is particularly severe in Europe. Second, there is the challenge posed by the climate crisis, the solution of which requires nothing less than a fundamental transformation from carbon-based growth to a new, sustainable economy. Without this, future generations will be in dire straits. The third challenge concerns the governance and policy crisis now facing Europe and the difficulties this poses for policy making and implementation.
