This article reflects on the place that beauty will have in the cities of the future based on the challenges faced by global cities. These have degraded the quality of life of its inhabitants as a consequence of planning life and cities with a rationalist vision, and in the case of the capitalist city it goes so far as to manipulate the aesthetic experience, making it a means of consumption. Two great challenges will face the cities of the future: on the one hand, overcoming the inertia imposed by the current building and designing cities based on the phenomenological proposal of space, which puts the person at the center of design, and secondly, that the rationalist vision is overcome in exchange for a vision that manages to integrate work, beauty and life., Este artículo reflexiona sobre el lugar que tendrá la belleza en las ciudades del futuro a partir de los desafíos que enfrentan las ciudades globales. Éstas han degradado la calidad de vida de sus habitantes como consecuencia de planear la vida y las ciudades con una visión racionalista, y que en el caso de la ciudad capitalista llegan al extremo de manipular la vivencia estética, haciéndola un medio de consumo. Dos grandes retos enfrentarán las ciudades del futuro: por un lado vencer la inercia que impone la actual edificación y diseñar las ciudades a partir de la propuesta fenomenológica del espacio, que pone en el centro del diseño a la persona, y en segundo lugar, que se supere la visión racionalista a cambio de una visión que logre integrar trabajo, belleza y vida.

It is proposed that beauty will find a place in the cities of the future when it is possible to overcome the way of life and productivity that we have and to incorporate aesthetic life into our way of living, only in this way will it be possible to focus the design of cities on the person and will give way to a city and idea of ​​inhabiting that manages to integrate work, beauty and life., En este artículo se propone cuál será el lugar de la belleza en las ciudades del futuro y explica los desafíos que tiene la belleza en las ciudades globales del día de hoy que o bien han hecho espacios carentes de belleza o la han vuelto un medio de consumo y propaganda comercial. Se propone que la belleza encontrará un lugar en las ciudades del futuro cuando se logre superar el modo de vida y productividad que tenemos y se logre incorporar la vida estética en nuestra forma de habitar, sólo así se logrará centrar el diseño de las ciudades en la persona y se dará paso a una ciudad e idea de habitar que logre integrar trabajo, belleza y vida.

En este texto se busca ahondar en la noción del habitar para comprender qué es habitar la ciudad. A lo largo de este artículo se advierte que más allá de ocupar un espacio, habitar es vivirlo de forma creativa, simbólica y libre, y señala como elementos fundamentales del habitar el «cuidado», el «amparo», el «arraigo» y el «encuentro». Estos elementos permiten comprender que habitar es un ethos y las ciudades son la manifestación de nuestra forma de expresar nuestros deseos e intereses por nosotros mismos, por los demás y por las cosas que nos rodean, por esto, se habita la ciudad cuando se hace ciudadanía, y se encarnan nuestras relaciones sociopolíticas y económicas, que se reflejan en las formas arquitectónicas y urbanas de las ciudades.
