We describe updated scientific goals for the wide-field, millimeter-wave survey that will be produced by the Simons Observatory (SO). Significant upgrades to the 6-meter SO Large Aperture Telescope (LAT) are expected to be complete by 2028, and will include a doubled mapping speed with 30,000 new detectors and an automated data reduction pipeline. In addition, a new photovoltaic array will supply most of the observatory's power. The LAT survey will cover about 60% of the sky at a regular observing cadence, with five times the angular resolution and ten times the map depth of Planck. The science goals are to: (1) determine the physical conditions in the early universe and constrain the existence of new light particles; (2) measure the integrated distribution of mass, electron pressure, and electron momentum in the late-time universe, and, in combination with optical surveys, determine the neutrino mass and the effects of dark energy via tomographic measurements of the growth of structure at $z < 3$; (3) measure the distribution of electron density and pressure around galaxy groups and clusters, and calibrate the effects of energy input from galaxy formation on the surrounding environment; (4) produce a sample of more than 30,000 galaxy clusters, and more than 100,000 extragalactic millimeter sources, including regularly sampled AGN light-curves, to study these sources and their emission physics; (5) measure the polarized emission from magnetically aligned dust grains in our Galaxy, to study the properties of dust and the role of magnetic fields in star formation; (6) constrain asteroid regoliths, search for Trans-Neptunian Objects, and either detect or eliminate large portions of the phase space in the search for Planet 9; and (7) provide a powerful new window into the transient universe on time scales of minutes to years, concurrent with observations from Rubin of overlapping sky., Comment: 44 pages, 7 figures; abstract slightly abridged. With the increasing focus on flexible automation, which emphasizes systems capable of adapting to varied tasks and conditions, exploring future deployments of cloud and edge-based network infrastructures in robotic systems becomes crucial. This work, examines how wireless solutions could support the shift from rigid, wired setups toward more adaptive, flexible automation in industrial environments. We provide a quality of control (QoC) based abstraction for robotic workloads, parameterized on loop latency and reliability, and jointly optimize system performance. The setup involves collaborative robots working on distributed tasks, underscoring how wireless communication can enable more dynamic coordination in flexible automation systems. We use our abstraction to optimally maximize the QoC ensuring efficient operation even under varying network conditions. Additionally, our solution allocates the communication resources in time slots, optimizing the balance between communication and control costs. Our simulation results highlight that minimizing the delay in the system may not always ensure the best QoC but can lead to substantial gains in QoC if delays are sometimes relaxed, allowing more packets to be delivered reliably., Comment: Accepted in IEEE CCNC 2025

The observation of the global 21 cm signal produced by neutral hydrogen gas in the intergalactic medium (IGM) during the Dark Ages, Cosmic Dawn, and Epoch of Reionization requires measurements with extremely well-calibrated wideband radiometers. We describe the design and characterization of the Mapper of the IGM Spin Temperature (MIST), which is a new ground-based, single-antenna, global 21 cm experiment. The design of MIST was guided by the objectives of avoiding systematics from an antenna ground plane and cables around the antenna, as well as maximizing the instrument's on-sky efficiency and portability for operations at remote sites. We have built two MIST instruments, which observe in the range 25-105 MHz. For the 21 cm signal, this frequency range approximately corresponds to redshifts 55.5 > z > 12.5, encompassing the Dark Ages and Cosmic Dawn. The MIST antenna is a horizontal blade dipole of 2.42 m in length, 60 cm in width, and 52 cm in height above the ground. This antenna operates without a metal ground plane. The instruments run on 12 V batteries and have a maximum power consumption of 17 W. The batteries and electronics are contained in a single receiver box located under the antenna. We present the characterization of the instruments using electromagnetic simulations and lab measurements. We also show sample sky measurements from recent observations at remote sites in California, Nevada, and the Canadian High Arctic. Dynamics of atom-field correlations and single-mode nonclassicalities present in the resonant Jaynes-Cummings model are investigated using negativity and entanglement potential for a set of initial states. The study has revealed the interplay between three different types of nonclassicality present in the model and established that the nonclassicality is continuously exchanged between the field and atom through the atom-field correlations. Further, it is observed that the entanglement potential does not capture all the single-mode nonclassicality and there exists some residual nonclassicality in the reduced single-mode states at the output of the beam splitter which is not captured by the entanglement in which single-mode nonclassicality is quantitatively mapped in Asboth's criterion. Additional layers of beam splitters are added to deplete all the nonclassicality and to reveal that almost all the residual nonclassicality is captured with three layers of beam splitters. Further, the reduced states of the atom and field have zero (non-zero) quantum coherence in the Fock basis when the atom-field correlations are maximum if the field (or atom) has zero (non-zero) quantum coherence initially., Comment: Dynamics of nonclassical features present in Jaynes-Cummings model are investigated using negativity and Asboth's idea entanglement potential

CONCERTO (CarbON CII line in post-rEionisation and ReionisaTiOn) is a large field-of-view (FoV) spectro-imager that has been installed on the Cassegrain Cabin of Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment (APEX) telescope in April 2021. CONCERTO hosts 2 focal planes and a total number of 4000 Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KID), with an instantaneous FoV of 18.6 arcminutes in the range of 130-310 GHz. The spectral resolution can be easily tuned down to 1 GHz depending on the scientific target. Characterise the large-scale structure in the Universe from present times to the high redshift epoch of reionisation is essential to constraining the cosmology, the history of star formation and reionisation, measuring the gas content of the Universe and obtaining a better understanding of the physical process that drive galaxy formation and evolution. Using the integrated emission from unresolved galaxies or gas clouds, line intensity mapping (LIM) provides a new observational window to measure the larger properties of structure. This very promising technique motivates the community to plan for LIM experiments. We describe the development of a large field-of-view instrument, named CONCERTO, operating in the range 130-310 GHz from the APEX 12-meters telescope. CONCERTO is a low-resolution spectrometer based on the Lumped Element Kinetic Inductance Detectors technology. Spectra are obtained using a fast Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS), coupled to a dilution cryostat with base temperature of 0.1K. Two 2 kilo-pixels arrays of LEKID are mounted inside the cryostat that also contains the cold optics and the front-end electronics. We present in detail the technological choices leading to the instrumental concept, together with the design and fabrication of the instrument and preliminary laboratory tests on the detectors. We also give our best estimates of CONCERTO sensitivity and give predictions for two of the main scientific goals of CONCERTO, i.e. a [CII]-intensity mapping survey and observations of galaxy clusters. We provide a detail description of the instrument design. Based on realistic comparisons with existing instruments developed by our group (NIKA, NIKA2, and KISS), and on laboratory detectors characterisation, we provide an estimate of CONCERTO sensitivity on sky. Anyons in one spatial dimension can be defined by correctly identifying the configuration space of indistinguishable particles and imposing Robin boundary conditions. This allows an interpolation between the bosonic and fermionic limits. Superconducting nanowires are widely used as sensitive single photon detectors with wide spectral coverage and high timing resolution. We describe a demonstration of an array of DC biased superconducting nanowire single photon detectors read out with a microwave multiplexing circuit. In this design, each individual nanowire is part of a resonant LC circuit where the inductance is dominated by the kinetic inductance of the nanowire. The circuit also contains two parallel plate capacitors, one of them is in parallel with the inductor and the other is coupled to a microwave transmission line which carries the signals to a cryogenic low noise amplifier. All of the nanowires are connected via resistors to a single DC bias line that enables the nanowires to be current biased close to their critical current. When a photon hits a nanowire it creates a normal hot spot which produces a voltage pulse across the LC circuit. This pulse rings down at the resonant frequency of the LC circuit over a time period that is fixed by the quality factor. We present measurements of an array of these devices and an evaluation of their performance in terms of frequency and time response.

Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) are superconductive low$-$temperature detectors useful for astrophysics and particle physics. We have developed arrays of lumped elements KIDs (LEKIDs) sensitive to microwave photons, optimized for the four horn-coupled focal planes of the OLIMPO balloon-borne telescope, working in the spectral bands centered at 150 GHz, 250 GHz, 350 GHz, and 460 GHz. This is aimed at measuring the spectrum of the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect for a number of galaxy clusters, and will validate LEKIDs technology in a space-like environment. Our detectors are optimized for an intermediate background level, due to the presence of residual atmosphere and room--temperature optical system and they operate at a temperature of 0.3 K. The LEKID planar superconducting circuits are designed to resonate between 100 and 600 MHz, and to match the impedance of the feeding waveguides; the measured quality factors of the resonators are in the $10^{4}-10^{5}$ range, and they have been tuned to obtain the needed dynamic range. The readout electronics is composed of a $cold$ $part$, which includes a low noise amplifier, a dc$-$block, coaxial cables, and power attenuators; and a $room-temperature$ $part$, FPGA$-$based, including up and down-conversion microwave components (IQ modulator, IQ demodulator, amplifiers, bias tees, attenuators). We consider a cylindrical metallic magnet that is set into rotation about a horizontal axis by a falling mass. In such a system the magnetic field will cause a radial current which is non-solenoidal. This leads to charge accumulation and a partial attenuation of radial current. The magnetic field acting on the radially flowing current slows down the acceleration. Using newtonian dynamics we evaluate the angular velocity and displacement. We explicitly show that the electromagnetic angular momentum must be taken into consideration in order to account for the change in angular momentum due to the external torque on the system. Further the loss in potential energy of the falling mass can be accounted for only after taking into consideration the electrostatic energy and the Joule loss. We suggest that this example will be of pedagogical value to intermediate physics students. A version of this is scheduled to appear in American Journal of Physics 2011. The dynamics of fermionic unparticles is developed from first principles. It is shown that any unparticle, whether fermionic or bosonic, can be recast in terms of a canonically quantized field, but with non-local interaction terms. We further develop a possible gauge theory for fermionic unparticles. Computing the consequent contribution of un-fermions to the $\beta$ function of the theory, it is shown that this can be viewed as the sum of two contributions, one fermion-like and the other scalar-like. However, if full conformal invariance is imposed, the latter vanishes identically. We consider the non-radiative two body decay of a neutrino to a daughter neutrino with degraded energy and a very light particle (Majoron). Ultrahigh energy neutrinos from an astrophysical source like a Gamma Ray Burst undergoing this decay process are found to produce different number of events in the detector depending on whether they are Majorana or Dirac particles. The next generation large scale experiments like Multi-OWL is expected to provide us an accurate determination of the flux of neutrinos from astrophysical sources and this may enable us to distinguish between the Dirac and Majorana nature of neutrino., Comment: 18 pages latex, no figure. A phenomenological model which has had some success in explaining polarization phenomena and left-right asymmetry in inclusive proton-proton scattering is considered for reactions involving photons. In particular, the reactions (a) $ \gamma + p \to H + X;$ (b) $\gamma + p (\uparrow) \to \pi^{\pm} + X $ and (c) $p(\uparrow) + p \to \gamma + X$ are considered where $\gamma =$ resolved photon and hyperon $ H = \Lambda^0, \Sigma^{\pm}$ etc. Predictions for hyperon polarization in (a) and the asymmetry (in (b) and (c)) provide further tests of this particular model. The Fano Resonance, involving the mixing between a quasi-bound `discrete' state of an inelastic channel lying in the continuum of scattering states belonging to the elastic channel, has several subtle features. The underlying ideas have recently attracted attention in connection with interference effects in quantum wires and mesoscopic transport phenomena. We generalize Schwinger boson representation of SU(2) algebra to SU(N) and define coherent states of SU(N) using $2(2^{N-1}-1)$ bosonic harmonic oscillator creation and annihilation operators. We give an explicit construction of all (N-1) Casimirs of SU(N) in terms of these creation and annihilation operators. The SU(N) coherent states belonging to any irreducible representations of SU(N) are labelled by the eigenvalues of the Casimir operators and are characterized by (N-1) complex orthonormal vectors describing the SU(N) manifold. The production of the octet of baryons and mesons in e^+ e^- collisions is analysed, based on considerations of SU(3) symmetry and a simple model for SU(3) symmetry breaking in fragmentation functions. All fragmentation functions, D_q^h(x, Q^2), describing the fragmentation of quarks into a member of the baryon octet (and similarly for fragmentation into members of the meson octet) are expressed in terms of three SU(3) symmetric functions, \alpha(x, Q^2), \beta(x, Q^2), and \gamma(x, Q^2). With the introduction of an SU(3) breaking parameter, \lambda, the model is successful in describing hadroproduction data at the Z pole. The fragmentation functions are then evolved using leading order evolution equations and good fits to currently available data at 34 GeV and at 161 GeV are obtained., Comment: 24 pages LaTeX file including 11 postscript figure files
