This situation is unlikely to improve, and overall standards of candour in valuation in international arbitration will keep going down as the system will keep rewarding the act of cloaking advocacy in the guise of scientific or technical rationality in order to 'lie with numbers'. This study takes stock of business and economics research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and provides a dynamic panorama of the overall knowledge structure of this ever-growing body of work ever since its inception in 1966. Our bibliometric analysis based on the full archive of 1024 studies identifies the main trends of and the major intellectual contributors to the extant knowledge of AI in business and economics research. Specifically, our results show that (1) AI-focused business and economics research wintnessed growth over three stages, particularly with a sharp increase after 2017. (2) While this body of research has gained tremendous momentum across the globe, the United States is by far the center of knowledge generation. (3) Research collaborations are still limited in this area. (4) Research topics flourished, ranging from early decision support systems, neural networks, and scheduling methods to more recent machine learning, automation, and big data. This study examines whether nonlinear effects of income diversification on bank stability occurs in the European banking system. Based on the framework developed by Tone and Tsutsui (Omega 42(1):124–131, 2014), we propose a novel three-stage (deposit producing, intermediation, and value maximization) dynamic network slacks-based measure model to assess bank stability in a sample of 114 European commercial banks during the post financial crisis period (2010–2019). We use the panel smooth transition regression model (PSTR), as introduced by González et al. (Panel smooth transition regression models, CREATES research paper 2017-36. Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University, 2017), to investigate the potential regime-switching behavior of the relationship between income diversification and stability. Our findings show that higher levels of income diversification, into and within nontraditional banking generating activities, worsen bank stability. It results that, in the case of European banks, income diversification is sub-optimal as no benefits are found from "over diversification". Important policy implications arise from our findings pertaining to the optimality of income diversification and stability, which could be in conflict with banks' traditional lines of business aiming at promoting lending activities. Purpose: This paper aims to find out what attitudes Economics and Business students have towards sustainability and what they expect from their education in relation to the achievement of economic, social and environmental sustainability. The objective is to find out if the studies of Economics and Business favour the development of pro-sustainability attitudes, taking into account factors such as the gender of the students, the course in which they are enrolled and the economic training received before entering university. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was designed covering ecological, social, cultural, economic and political aspects. The survey was conducted among students of the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management and the Bachelor's Degree in Economics. The authors used discriminant analysis and analysis of variance to test the research hypothesis. Findings: Students are concerned about environmental problems and are aware of the need for action, but there is little consensus on the actions needed to overcome them. Some negationist traits are detected: those who rely more on technology give less importance to environmental problems and to the possibility of a major ecological catastrophe. Girls are more in favour of sustainability than boys, and students who have previously studied economics consider that their training has enabled them to evaluate the resources available and necessary to perform any job more than those who have not studied economics, regardless of their sex and year. Originality/value: Many articles have focused on the importance of sustainability in higher education, but hardly any have analysed the role of economic education in achieving sustainability. Given the importance and the proven inter-relationship between economics and sustainability, with this article, the authors contribute to fill the gap in the literature. This study evaluated North American pediatric surgeons' opinions and knowledge of business and economics in medicine and their perceptions of trends in their healthcare delivery environment. We conducted an elective online survey of 1119 American Pediatric Surgical Association members. Over 8 mo, we iteratively developed the survey focused on four areas: opinion, knowledge, current practice environment, and trends in practice environment over the past 5 y. We received 227 (20.3%) complete surveys from pediatric surgeons. One hundred ninety four (85.5%) perceive healthcare as a business and most (85.9%) believe healthcare decisions may affect patients' out-of-pocket expenses. More than half (51.1%) of surgeons believe it has become more challenging to perform emergent cases and most believe staff quality has decreased for elective (56.4%) and emergent (63.0%) cases over the past 5 y. Pediatric surgeons recognize that medicine is a business and have concerns regarding the decreasing quality of operating room staff and the increasing difficulty providing surgical care over the last 5 y. Granger causality provides a framework that uses predictability to identify causation between time series variables. This is important to policymakers for effective policy management and recommendations. Granger causality is recognized as the primary advance on the causation problem. The objective of this paper is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of Granger causality publications indexed in the Web of Science database. Harzing's Publish or Perish and VOSviewer were used for performance analysis and science mapping. The first paper indexed was published in 1981 and there has been an upward trend in the annual publication of Granger causality studies which are shifting towards the areas of environmental science, energy, and economics. Most of the publications are articles and proceeding papers under the areas of business economics, environmental science ecology, and neurosciences/neurology. China has the highest number of publications while the United States has the highest number of citations. England has the highest citation impact. This paper also constructed country co-authorship, co-analysis of cited references, cited sources, and cited authors, keyword co-occurrence, and keyword overlay visualization maps. This article introduces a recently developed synthetic dataset generator, which contains anonymised data from the Prague University of Economics and Business information system logs. The generator is opensource and is able to scale this data time-wise and also perform injection of the data with cyberattackers' behaviour patterns. The anonymised data still contains user behaviour patterns; therefore, individual anomalous behaviour can be detected. Different types of real attack behaviour patterns in the university environment have been selected; they are used to demonstrate attackers' behaviour in synthetically created system logs. Purpose: This paper aims to provide a comprehensive, systematic review of the literature on Industry 4.0 – and on the trends and implications of the digitalization of manufacturing – from the perspective of business and economics. Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric methodology was used, allowing to extract rigorously the relevant literature, leading to a purposefully constructed database of peer-reviewed publications depicting the state of the art in this area. A quantitative analysis of the key characteristics of – and trends emanating from – the literature was performed, and results were presented in a graphic way using the VOSViewer software as a mapping tool. Relevant thematic clusters were identified, and promising future research avenues were identified. Findings: This literature is extremely recent – 90% of the publications are from 2019 and 2020, and the leading journal publishing in this area is the Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management. Key clusters identified relate digital transformation to value chains; a close link is observed between Industry 4.0 technologies and business models; a strong connection to sustainability is also clear; and the implications of Industry 4.0 for human resources management are, not surprisingly, extremely relevant. Originality/value: This is, to the best of the authors' knowledge, the most comprehensive systematic review linking specifically Industry 4.0 to the business and economics literature, bridging with recent, state-of-the-art research in the economics/business and technological fields. Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has greatly impacted society and academic life and research practices. This study is an attempt to comprehend whether a global emergency of COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on researcher international collaboration. The authors analyze the research collaboration before and after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to understand how scientists collaborated within their own nation's borders and beyond. Design/methodology/approach: The authors analyze the research collaboration before and after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to understand how scientists collaborated within their own nation's borders and beyond. The authors collected a dataset of research publications published in journals in the research area of business and economics and indexed in the WoS Core Collection database by researchers from 11 countries (Austria, Denmark, Greece, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Korea (South), Mexico, Pakistan, Romania and Vietnam). In total, 14,824 publication records were considered for the literature analysis. This study presented the scientometric analysis of these publications using bibliometric, statistical, factor analysis and network analysis methods. The results are evaluated and interpreted in the context of the Hofstede's model of cultural dimensions. The results of this study provide evidence to research management to properly allocate their efforts to improve the researcher cooperation during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to overcome its negative outcomes in the years to come. Findings: The results of our study show that uncertainty avoidance as the cultural factor defined by the Hofstede's model has significantly influenced the properties of research collaboration networks in the domain of business and economics. Uncertainty avoidance focuses on how cultures adapt to changes and cope with uncertainty, while the global COVID-19 pandemic introduced a lot of change and uncertainty all levels of society around the world. Research limitations/implications: The study exclusively examines 14,824 research outputs which have been indexed in the WoS Core Collection database from 2019 till 15 November 2020 and only covered one research area (business economics). Thus, documents published in any other different channels and sources which are not covered in WoS are excluded from this study. The authors have analyzed the publications from just 11 countries, which represent a small part of the global research output. Also, the Hofstede's cultural dimensions model is not a unique way to study cultural characteristics at the national level. Practical implications: The results of this study will provide evidence to research management to properly allocate their efforts to improve the researcher cooperation during the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to overcome its negative outcomes in the years to come. In this paper we present the triangulation of three data sets, observation, focus groups and document analysis in order to reveal the differences between Higher Education Institution (HEI) and Labor Market Organization (LMO) regarding critical thinking (CT) development. The three methods were used chronologically, starting with observation, and continuing to focus groups and document analysis. The results showed that teaching methods were the most "forgotten" item in HEI and were abundant in LMO training settings. Moreover, teaching strategies are different, LMO employing social-constructivist type, different from HEI teachers, which focuses in particular on the transmission of information. The results showed, in this case, that the expectations were confirmed. HEI focuses on the interpretative and analytic aspects of CT, while LMO focuses also on dispositions, enhancing skills like responsibility, awareness, identification, and analysis, interpretation, self-learning. But both HEI and LMO, are addressing CT indirectly, through an implicit teaching approach. Driven by the total cost of ownership, US–China trade and technology competition, and the COVID-19 pandemic, global supply chains are undergoing a major restructuring that will soon transform business and economics all over the world. Recently, supply chains with end-to-end integration for premium agri-food products have emerged as a new business model. This paper examines how they should function, and identifies the supply chain structure/production/business conditions necessary for their development. We study a premium supply chain consisting of many small farms that produce top-quality bananas, one integrator firm, and thousands of retail stores. We use industry and business data to calibrate a multiple-route flow-based model from farms to integrator to retailers/markets. We then use sensitivity analysis to illuminate the stakeholders’ decision behaviour, and identify and discuss three main decision issues: contract farming, capacity strategy, and business robustness. For contract specification, contracting on price rather than quantity is conducive to coordinating the interests of the stakeholders. For the capacity strategy, the integrator should source raw products from many small farms rather than fewer large farms. For business robustness, the integrator could still ensure robust profits by regulating its product supply when new competitors arise or demand changes. These results are tested under various scenarios to determine the impact of input parameters or supply chain structure, and are verified with an industry practitioner who has experience with multiple premium agri-food products. The results, along with the flow model and its computation procedure, could be used by supply chain planners to start new businesses or to differentiate retailers’ premium product offerings in competitive business environments. This research investigates recent trends and developments in the scope and impact of international collaboration in research publications. A number of prior studies in the field of Research & Development (R&D) have outlined the factors influencing an increasing internationalization in R&D. We transfer these findings in a complete sample of publication data from the years 2008–2015 in order to find out and describe how researchers in the two academic fields Health Care/Clinical Medicine and Business & Economics collaborate with foreign-based colleagues. We analyze how this research by international teams performs in terms of received citations, compared to their national counterparts. We find that international teams generally receive more citations than national ones. Furthermore, we outline how the number of countries with relevant publication numbers has grown and diversified over the last years, and author teams generally became larger and more international. In a last step, we show how emerging countries built up competence and knowledge over time, as an increase in received publication citations follows at a delayed pace to an increase in publication numbers. While there are some differences between the two academic fields Health Care/Clinical Medicine and Economics & Business, with, for example the former having approximately around ten times more publications per year, than the latter, the major structural trends and developments are similar in both fields, outlining the robustness of our analysis. Background: In order to support decisions regarding governance, organization and control models of the healthcare system, the Swedish government, as well as regional-level agencies, regularly commissions expert reports that are supposed to form the basis for decisions on new steering forms in healthcare. Aim: The aim of this study was a) to perform a descriptive mapping of commissioned reports on Swedish healthcare governance and b) to pursue an in-depth content analysis of a strategic sample of such reports. Method: Initially, 106 reports from both national and regional levels were gathered and analysed. A matrix was constructed, consisting of questions on who had commissioned the report, who had produced it, what problems the report set out to solve and what solutions were suggested. Further, questions were posed on whether the report was research-based and whether ethical assumptions and arguments were presented. Thereafter, a strategic sample of 36 reports was selected for an in-depth analysis, using inductive content analysis. Results: The descriptive mapping showed that the aim of the analysed reports differed in form and content, and that they varied from giving an overview and investigating effects and consequences of new control models to more concrete goals, such as suggesting improvement measures. Academic experts involved in creating the reports often represented economics or business studies. The content analysis revealed examples of standardization in care, characterized by requirements to follow national guidelines, but also examples of requests for increased respect for professionals' competence and experience. Further, the analysis showed how the definition of equity in care had changed, from a focus on equity in access to care in the reports produced in the 1990s to an emphasis of arguments for geographical sameness and equity in quality of care in the later reports. Discussion: Two dominant trends were identified in the material, namely increased standardization and arguments for trust in the system. The great number of reports implies that the system risks requesting more information than it can handle and result in documents where the same message is recurrently repeated or create conflicts of interest and value tensions between different suggestions. Conclusion: Commissioned reports can have substantial consequences for new reforms of management practices in healthcare. It is therefore important to investigate them critically. The results of our investigation may contribute to a more comprehensive and adequate model for acquiring and using expert reports regarding healthcare governance, both in Sweden and in similar healthcare systems. The development of Smart Local Energy Systems (SLES) in the UK is part of the energy transition tackling the energy trilemma and contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project developers and other stakeholders need to independently assess the performance of these systems: how well they meet their aims to successfully deliver multiple benefits and objectives. This article describes a step undertaken by the EnergyREV Research Consortium in developing a standardised Multi-Criteria Assessment (MCA) tool—specifically a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to determine the weighting of key performance indicators (KPIs). The MCA tool will use a technology-agnostic framework to assess SLES projects, track system performance and monitor benefit realisation. In order to understand the perceived relative importance of KPIs across different stakeholders, seven DCEs were conducted via online surveys (using 1000minds software). The main survey (with 234 responses) revealed that Environment was considered the most important criterion, with a mean weight of 21.6%. This was followed by People and Living (18.9%), Technical Performance (17.8%) and Data Management (14.7%), with Business and Economics and Governance ranked the least important (13.9% and 13.1%, respectively). Augmented reality enhances the sensory experience of the real world, often across multiple senses such as visual, hearing, tactile and sensorimotor, with technology using computer-generated sensory input. Current literature reviews of augmented reality mainly focus on its generic usage or specific topics, such as medicine or tourism. However, augmented reality has become one of the prevalent topics in business and economics since it is one of the main growth drivers of disruptive companies. Since many companies are considering its usage in their business models, there is a lack of literature review in business and economics. Therefore, this paper aims to present a literature review of the scientific research that investigates the broad range of usage of augmented reality in business and economics. Web of Knowledge has been searched with the keywords "augmented reality" within the research area of business and economics for 2017-2021. Bibliometric analysis has been conducted to investigate the main journals, conferences, authors and countries. Finally, text mining with VosViewer has been conducted to extract the main topics, which are: (i): Technologies; Education; (ii) e-Commerce; Retailing; (iii) Tourism; User Experience; (iv) Consumers; Purchase. In this study, we introduce a unique longitudinal dataset from the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance Annual Survey (IMEFAS) to assess how micro and small enterprises (MSEs) partake in the global economy by tapping into global value chains (GVCs). The results of the empirical analysis show that the great majority of micro and small enterprises are unable to establish direct links with GVCs. However, two sub-categories of subcontractors and branded producers were able to accomplish upgrading and partake in GVCs after the 2008 economic crisis. For both groups of firms, strategies implemented in domestic value chains contributed to their future participation in GVCs. By identifying small firms' value chain decisions associated with their ability to access GVCs directly, this study sheds light on the microfoundations of GVCs. This work aims to characterize how home energy upgrade projects and programs in the US have evolved over the past decade. It also identifies what changes are needed to drive expansion of the US energy retrofit market in such a way that addresses carbon emissions from buildings, improves resilience and upgrades the housing stock. This review focuses on whole-home energy upgrades, targeting deep energy retrofit savings of >30%. The topics we cover include trends in home electrification, US and European home energy upgrade programs, energy upgrade measure costs, business economics, and health effects. Key changes in project design noted in this review include: (1) the electrification of dwellings with rapidly improving heat pump systems and low-cost solar photovoltaic technology; and (2) a shift away from high-cost building envelope strategies and towards more traditional home performance/weatherization envelope upgrades. Promising program design strategies covered include: (1) end-use electrification programs; (2) novel financing approaches; (3) the use of carbon-based program and project metrics; and (4) "one-stop shop" programs. Based on the existing market barriers, we suggest that the industry should adopt new project performance metrics. Additionally, market drivers are needed to spur widespread energy upgrades in the US housing stock. Costs must be reduced, and projects designed to appeal to homeowners and contractors. This paper reviewed the relevant scientific literature on the business and economics of biobanking to explore key themes and paradigms. The structural properties of the literature were investigated, such as key authors, journals, studies, as well as co-citation and co-authorship networks; the study revealed that the research on business and economics is a niche area within the vast biobanking literature. The research is concentrated in a relatively small number of journals, institutions, and countries, which is rather surprising given the substantial public investment in and concerns about biobank sustainability. The structural analysis also suggested major themes in research on biobanking business and economics and noted shifts in focus on specific themes. The commercialisation of samples is more acknowledged than before but under the condition of equitable sharing of benefits across various stakeholders. Most biobanks are heavily subsidised by the public sector and are considered public goods rather than business enterprises. This is OK, but underutilisation of specimens and low rates of cost recovery suggest that the current mainstream operating model is hardly sustainable. The study investigates the levels of perceived stress and coping strategies of the participants in relation to their occupation. We argue that the levels of perceived stress vary in relation to the area of occupation and that there are specific coping strategies for dealing with stress among the representatives of the different areas of occupation. The study was conducted online via the Kwiksurveys platform. The data were collected during the period of first lock down - last week of March 2020. A total number of 688 people took part in the survey. Four occupational areas were distinguished - Social work, law or politics; Education and science; Economics and business; Engineering and IT. The method used collects socio-demographic data, measures perceived stress and distinguish coping strategies. The results reveal the highest levels of perceived stress among representatives working in the area of Education and Science. They use Categorical thinking, Naive optimism and Esoteric thinking as coping strategies significantly more often than other groups. An interesting outcome is that Emotional Coping, Behavioural coping and Superstitious thinking seem to be universal coping strategies. Background. In scholarly publishing, time-looping is the practice of assigning papers that were online-published at a specific point in time to post-dated journal volumes/issues. Objectives. This study investigated to what extent time-looping was practiced by journals, and whether this practice was likely to have increased the journal citation metrics. The journals in Financial Times' list of top 50 business and economics journals (known as the FT50 list) were used as the sample. Methods. All FT50 journals' websites were visited on the same date (February 15, 2022) to identify journals that practiced time-looping. The Journal Impact Factor (JIF) and CiteScore values of the journals over the last ten years (2011-2020) were analyzed. Results. As of mid-February 2022 when the analysis was conducted, the practice of time-looping was identified for four FT50 journals, published by the same publisher. The time-loops ranged from 48 to 111 days (with an average of 79 days). Examining the JIF and the CiteScore values for these four journals over the last ten years, it was observed that the 2020 JIF values for these four journals saw a significant increase. The results of further analysis suggest that time-looping is a likely cause of this increase in JIF values. In this study, the bibliometric analysis of economics articles published between 2005-2020 in the International Journal of Management, Economics, and Business, which is an international, peer-reviewed journal's 49 prints published during the specified period, were examined in terms of their bibliometric properties. As a result of the examinations, it has been determined that the increase in the economics articles are mostly prepared with a single or dual author, and the doctoral faculty members are dominant among the author titles. In addition, the article's examination of current issues related to the world and Turkish economy, the intense use of foreign sources in the articles, and the fact that the average number of citations is relatively higher than similar journals published in Turkey were determined as the superior aspects of the journal in the field of economics. Studies that explore the relationship between financial innovation and the stability of money demand in Africa use the indirect measure of financial innovation. Previous studies on Nigeria also ignored total monetary aggregates (M3), despite its importance to monetary policy formulation and liquidity management. This paper contributes to the existing literature in two ways; first, we expand the generic money demand function to include the direct measure of financial innovation. Second, we test the model on Nigeria using a broader definition of money demand—narrow money (M1), broad money (M2) and total monetary aggregates (M3). We employ the Pesaran et al. (2001) autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds test approach to cointegration in estimating the respective equations and find evidence of a long‐run relationship between money demand and financial innovation. The CUSUM and CUSUM‐of‐Squares tests reveal stable money demand across the three measures of money demand, which indicates that the inclusion of financial innovation has not altered the long‐run stability of money demand in Nigeria. Predictive modeling is a critical technique in many real-world applications, including auto insurance rate-making and the decision making of rate filings review for regulation purposes. It is also important in predicting financial and economic risk in business and economics. Unlike testing hypotheses in statistical inference, results obtained from predictive modeling serve as statistical evidence for the decision making of the underlying problem and discovering the functional relationship between the response variable and the predictors. As a result of this, the variable importance measures become an essential aspect of helping to better understand the contributions of predictors to the built model. In this work, we focus on the study of using generalized linear models (GLM) for the size of loss distributions. In addition, we address the problem of measuring the importance of the variables used in the GLM to further evaluate their potential impact on insurance pricing. In this regard, we propose to shift the focus from variable importance measures of factor levels to factors themselves and to develop variable importance measures for factors included in the model. Therefore, this work is exclusively for modeling with categorical variables as predictors. This work contributes to the further development of GLM modeling to make it even more practical due to this added value. This study aims to assess the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of Malaysian manufacturing small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) and the role of dynamic capacities in promoting sustainable business practices. The data was gathered through a survey completed by 216 Malaysian manufacturing SMEs with an SEM‐AMOS nested model comparison analysis. The findings revealed that economic, social, and environmental dimensions are related to sustainable business practices. Besides, firms' dynamic capabilities fully mediate the association between economic, social, and environmental dimensions in Malaysian manufacturing SMEs. Whether boredom is a unitary construct or if multiple types of boredom exist is a long-standing debate. Recent research has established the existence of boredom types based on frequency observations of boredom by experience sampling. This work tries to expand our understanding of boredom and replicate these previous findings by applying intensity observations of cross-sectional type for four discrete learning activity emotions: boredom, anxiety, hopelessness, and enjoyment. Latent class analysis based on activity emotion scores from 9863 first-year students of a business and economics program results in seven profiles. Five of these profiles allow a linear ordering from low to high control and value scores (the direct antecedents of emotions), low to high positive, and high to low negative emotions. Two profiles differ from this pattern: one 'high boredom' profile and one 'low boredom' profile. We next compare antecedent relationships of activity emotions at three different levels: inter-individual, inter-class or between classes, and intra-class or within classes. Some of these relationships are invariant for the choice of level of analysis, such as hopelessness. Other relationships, such as boredom, are highly variant: within-class relationships differ from inter-individual relationships. Indeed, our results confirm that boredom is not a unitary construct. Purpose - Despite the general recommendation of using a combination of multiple criteria for research assessment and faculty promotion decisions, the raise of quantitative indicators is generating an emerging trend in Business Schools to use single journal impact factors (IFs) as key (unique) drivers for those relevant school decisions. This paper aims to investigate the effects of using single Web of Science (WoS)-based journal impact metrics when assessing research from two related disciplines: Business and Economics, and its potential impact for the strategic sustainability of a Business School. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected impact indicators data for Business and Economics journals from the Clarivate Web of Science database. We concentrated on the IF indicators, the Eigenfactor and the article influence score (AIS). This study examined the correlations between these indicators and then ranked disciplines and journals using these different impact metrics. Findings - Consistent with previous findings, this study finds positive correlations among these metrics. Then this study ranks the disciplines and journals using each impact metric, finding relevant and substantial differences, depending on the metric used. It is found that using AIS instead of the IF raises the relative ranking of Economics, while Business remains basically with the same rank. Research limitations/implications - This study contributes to the research assessment literature by adding substantial evidence that given the sensitivity of journal rankings to particular indicators, the selection of a single impact metric for assessing research and hiring/promotion and tenure decisions is risky and too simplistic. This research shows that biases may be larger when assessment involves researchers from related disciplines - like Business and Economics - but with different research foundations and traditions. Practical implications - Consistent with the literature, given the sensibility of journal rankings to particular indicators, the selection of a single impact metric for assessing research, assigning research funds and hiring/promotion and tenure decisions is risky and simplistic. Purpose This study aimed to look into the interest in and use of WhatsApp technology among National College of Business Administration & Economics (NCBAE) University Pakistan library users. Design/methodology/approach A Google Forms questionnaire was designed and emailed to students from various departments at the National College of Business Administration and Economics University of Pakistan. SPSS 22 was used to tabulate and analyze the data for this paper. Findings According to one study, WhatsApp is a robust and cutting-edge technology that might be integrated with digital library services to reach out to library consumers. This technology will assist library patrons in receiving high-quality services. Some technological and human resource variables may impact service delivery and hence must be addressed. As a result, library management is advised to take the required steps to integrate WhatsApp with digital library services to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Practical implications WhatsApp is one of the most widely used social networking applications, with many organizations, including libraries, using it. This technology is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to patrons on campus and in remote locations. As a result, the quality of library services will improve, and users will be more satisfied. The research of the perception of knowledge and usefulness of the Croatian language among Slovenian students in the field of economics and business was conducted with the aim of obtaining relevant information on the basis of which a decision could be made on introducing the elective course "Croatian language for economics and business" in the Slovenian higher education system. The results show that the Croatian language in the studied population takes second place (among 21 foreign languages) according to knowledge and third place according to the perception of the usefulness of language acquisition. At the same time, there is a relatively high interest among the Slovenian student population in the field of economics and business in learning the Croatian language. The results also indicate a changed attitude towards the Croatian language in Slovenian society, and that younger Slovenians make a clear distinction between the Croatian and other South Slavic languages. The research investigates the employment opportunities and outcomes for Italian graduates in business economics, after two decades from the beginning of the Bologna process. Preliminarily, the study identifies the predictors of the employment status of graduates one year after graduation. Subsequently, the job quality of the employed graduates is assessed. Both kinds of analysis evidence problems of mismatch between education and occupation, leading to bad job quality. To overcome job deterioration, the research suggests a new policy measure. According to the proposed solution, higher education institutions should be funded by governments not only for graduation rates or for employment rates of their students, but, above all, for the job quality of their employed graduates. Without such adjustments, the strategy of the Bologna process, although valuable for its purpose, will remain an incomplete reform failing to address the main question: the job quality, rather than just the quantity, of graduates. The paper analyses the publication performance and the received scientific impact (for instance, citations) of the Business and Economics researchers in six Central European countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. The analysis is based on the Scopus citation database. Empirical findings demonstrate that Business and Economics researchers in these countries follow a wellestablished publication strategy, focusing on increasing the number of publications. Simultaneously, they tend to publish with coauthors to strengthen further the number of publications. Concerning the number of citations, it is raised by the increasing number of publications and by a wide coauthor network, which also affects their Hirsch index favourably. Regarding their publication performance, the leading Business and Economics researchers in the Visegrad Group of counties, Austria and Romania belong to no typical cluster, as the scatter plot shows a relatively homogenous community of these researchers. Our findings demonstrate that in the ranking of researchers, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic dominate, Hungary is in a secondary line, while Slovakia and Romania are lagging behind. This research considers the aspects of decision-making according to the airport activities. The decision about airport planning and management should be comprehensive and operative and of course, the assessment of alternative decisions is necessary. The purpose of this research is to highlight the role of simulation modelling at the stage of airport development. The authors present the methodology of a model-driven decision-making approach and then describe 2 cases of using simulation for Riga International Airport (RIX) development. The 1st case study is used for analysis possibility of the development of the airport's surrounding territory. The planned massive development of RIX and the surrounding area requires detailed analysis for increasing its positive impact on regional and national business economics, social aspects, business and the environment. The 2nd case supports decision-making for the needs of the terminal reconstruction, presents a helpful tool for visualization of the tendencies in the future, and allows the analysis of the different infrastructure layouts. Both cases give the possibility to predict the situation and evaluate the service provided for passengers (travellers) of the airport. The aim of this article is to assess the use of the term Social Economy, while being aware of its lack of concreteness, and to analyze the level of scientific production by means of a bibliometric analysis using WoS (JCR) and Scopus (SJR) as sources. Starting in 2004 and related to the Charter of Principles of the Social Economy, the material development of articles began. The most receptive countries are Spain, the USA, China, the UK and Canada. In terms of the most productive journals, Voluntas in JCR and CIRIEC-Spain and REVESCO in SJR stand out. Scientific production on this issue is linked to university institutions, namely the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Valencia and the University of Quebec. The most prevalent subject are Economics and Business in the case of JCR and Social Sciences in SJR.
