The intensive generation of industrial solid waste (ISW) in industrial parks poses a severe threat to the water and soil environment. To address the lack of system‐level guidance strategies for ISW management (ISWM), the paper proposes a systematic ISWM framework within the context of the circular economy principle and applies it to a prominent eco‐industrial park in China. This framework is founded on the metabolic characteristics of the entire ISW process, supported by multi‐stakeholder cooperation, and guaranteed by a shareable information platform and infrastructure. A holistic ISW flow analytical process is introduced to facilitate the implementation of this framework. In the case study, a high‐resolution inventory of ISW is established by 157 enterprises in 2021, covering 116 types of general ISW and 61 types of hazardous waste (HW). By integrating material flow analysis, questionnaires, and interviews, this study quantitatively reveals the underperformance of mini‐scale HW recycling, with a recycling rate of 5.6% in 2021, well below the park‐wide rate of 50.8%. Collaborative inboundary and transboundary disposal emerges as a crucial direction for ISWM, with over 80% of ISW being disposed of outside the park. Following the implementation of circular economy strategies guided by the management framework, notable improvements are observed, including a 26.5% increase in the recycling rate of mini‐scale HW and a 13.5% increase in the proportion of disposal outside Beijing. To foster sustainable ISWM, this study recommends enhancing the decentralized infrastructure of collection–storage–transportation integration for mini‐scale ISW in industrial parks. The autonomous and restricted nature of these sectors increases the need for a shared, distributed database, strong access control management, consensus in autonomous decision‐making, and effective communication across diverse protocols and devices. This research presents a comprehensive approach and offers a new viewpoint to the field of blockchain while establishing a fundamental baseline for future improvements in data management systems and addressing the shortcomings of previously proposed existing frameworks in order to fulfill the complex needs of secure data management. This study contributes to the advancement of secure and efficient data management systems by implementing robust data monitoring for error detection, ensuring data integrity, and enabling encrypted or anonymous data sharing based on sensitivity levels. Additionally, the integration of diverse devices, enforcement of immutable regulations compliance, and development of permissioned blockchain systems for identity management further enhance the system's capabilities, offering comprehensive solutions for modern data management challenges. In the tests, the proposed framework showed increased successful transactions in all rate controllers. Besides, effect of the validator number on throughput and latency is tested and analyzed thoroughly.

This research aimed to investigate the multifaceted challenges faced by music core groups in Cebu Province, analyzing social, economic, and technological barriers. Its primary goal was to propose an innovative management framework for ensuring sustainable growth in the music industry. Utilizing qualitative multiple-case study, this study delved into the complex landscape shaped by challenges for music creators, artists, and organizations. It involved a comprehensive management framework encompassing planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The study identified themes including navigating professional dynamics, social equity and empowerment dynamics, obstacles in creative pursuits, financial sustainability, economic instability, challenges in technology utilization, and industry adaptation. Various coping mechanisms such as faith, self-care, and community involvement were observed. While the study provided valuable insights, the limited representation of diverse industry positions highlights the need for further research to fully grasp the complexities and challenges of the music industry. The Amplify Cebu Music Management Framework, incorporating TechHarmony Integration, aimed to seamlessly integrate technology into the industry. Tailored interventions addressed leadership development, promotion strategies, artist well-being, creative hubs, education, and government support. The availability of high-quality aggregate for infrastructure development in Canada has significantly decreased. This reduction has posed significant challenges, particularly in large urban areas across Canada. Moreover, exploring the potential of incorporating innovative by-products into pavement structures has displayed potential advantages in technical, economic, and environmental aspects. The methodology presented in this paper is based on several research projects from over the past twenty years. This case study is based on the several research projects that have been conducted at the Centre for Pavement and Transportation Technology (CPATT) in Canada. The focus of this paper is developing a framework that can be used to evaluate the use of recycled materials in asphalt pavement. These include recycled concrete aggregate (RCA); recycled asphalt roof shingles (RAS); recycled crumb rubber (RCR); and recycled asphalt roof shingles (RAS) in asphalt pavement. In addition, the use of RCA in concrete pavement will also be evaluated. In addition, the use of RCA in concrete pavement will also be evaluated. A methodology and strategy for implementing these materials and designs into specifications, while also managing risk, are outlined. Finally, the work presents a life cycle assessment analysis, including the analysis of cost and sustainability. Overall, the paper illustrates the process of evaluating products, technologies, and designs from technical, economic, and environmental viewpoints, and then implementing them in a robustly engineered way. Generally, the collected data results from the lab, field performance of the test sites, and sustainability and Life Cycle Cost Assessment (LCCA) analyses are very promising. For example, the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement design with a 40% RAP was the most environmentally friendly. Meanwhile, it was determined that the HMA mix comprising 20% RAP and 20% Crumb Rubber Modifier (CRM) was found to be the most creative and environmentally friendly option. According to another study, higher storage durations were shown to improve RAP and virgin binders' blending, thereby raising the general quality of HMA and RAP mixtures. Furthermore, the study discovered that mixtures containing various types of untreated CRCA in different amounts had higher Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS), rutting resistance, and stiffness modulus than the control mix, which contained 0% coarse recycled concrete aggregate (CRCA). This suggests that the effective utilization of recycled materials is a viable approach with the capacity to significantly enhance the adoption of recycled components in asphalt pavements. This study developed a management framework for quality assurance to enhance Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and technology pre-service teacher education programs in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon). Using the three-round Delphi consensus-building technique, the research assessed quality assurance practices and challenges in managing Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) programs. The study also examined key factors affecting student performance in licensure examinations, career decision influences, and strategies to improve program appeal. Thirteen Delphi experts, including College Deans and program chairs, and 117 BTLEd and BTVTEd graduates participated. Thematic and statistical analyses, including the Mann-Whitney U test, compared assessment differences between graduates concerning licensure exam performance, career decisions, and program appeal strategies. The findings highlight that Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the region prioritize quality assurance through curriculum reviews, faculty engagement, accreditation, facility maintenance, and continuous improvement. However, they face challenges such as resource limitations, curriculum misalignment, faculty development issues, and lack of specific quality assurance standards for TVET programs. Graduates noted factors influencing their licensure exam performance and career decisions, emphasizing the importance of review preparation, teaching strategies, and professional development. To enhance program appeal, there is a need for sustained career guidance, institutional initiatives, and program awareness efforts. A management framework for destination attributes is critical for the reasonable allocation of resources. However, existing management frameworks for destination attributes estimate the management value of attributes by calculating their contribution to cognitive satisfaction, which deviates from the "cognition-affection" relationship in psychology. In this scenario, destination attachment is an important concept reflecting the emotional values of attributes. This study proposes an attachment-based management framework for destination attributes based on the appraisal theories of emotion in the context of the progressive development of Hangzhou, China, as a typical mature destination. A networking method is applied to develop the management framework. This is the first study to establish an emotion-based management framework for destination attributes from a psychological perspective. In the past two years, the global and Indonesian economies have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to below-target and negative growth rates worldwide. Indonesia declared the pandemic in March 2020, resulting in disruptions and lower-than-expected economic growth, with the first quarter of 2020 recording 2.97% growth compared to a consensus of 3.5-4.0%. Key sectors like manufacturing, retail, construction, and mining contracted, while household consumption dropped to 2.84% from 5.01% the previous year. This summary presents inflation and economic growth data in Indonesia as of October 2020 from the Central Statistics Agency. Abstract Assessing microplastics risk to aquatic ecosystems has been limited by lack of holistic exposure data and poor understanding of biological response thresholds. Here we take advantage of two recent advances, a toxicological meta-analysis that produced biotic response thresholds and a method to quantitatively correct exposure data for sampling methodology biases, to assess microplastic exposure risk in San Francisco Bay, California, USA. Using compartment-specific particle size abundance data, we rescaled empirical surface water monitoring data obtained from manta trawls (> 333 μm) to a broader size (1 to 5000 μm) range, corrected for biases in fiber undercounting and spectroscopic subsampling, and assessed the introduced uncertainty using probabilistic methods. We then compared these rescaled concentrations to four risk thresholds developed to inform risk management for California for each of two effect categories/mechanisms - tissue translocation-mediated effects and food dilution - each aligned to ecologically relevant dose metrics of surface area and volume, respectively. More than three-quarters of samples exceeded the most conservative food dilution threshold, which rose to 85% when considering just the Central Bay. Within the Central Bay, 38% of the samples exceeded a higher threshold associated with management planning, which was statistically significant at the 95% confidence interval. For tissue translocation-mediated effects, no samples exceeded any threshold with statistical significance. The risk associated with food dilution is higher than that found in other systems, which likely reflects this study having been conducted for an enclosed water body. A sensitivity analysis indicated that the largest contributor to assessment variability was associated with estimation of ambient concentration exposure due to correcting for fiber undercounting. Even after compensating for biases associated with fibers and other small particles, concentrations from the trawl samples were still significantly lower than the 1-L grab samples taken at the same time, suggesting our SFB risk estimates are an underestimate. We chose to rely on the trawl data because the 1-L grab sample volume was too small to provide accurate spatial representation, but future risk characterization studies would be improved by using in-line filtration pumps that sample larger volumes while capturing a fuller range of particle size than a towed net.

The acceleration of stunting reduction in Indonesia is one of the priority agendas in the health sector, its implementation being through various regional and tiered approaches. This paper aims to manage management using an integrated system framework approach at the regional level and to support the acceleration of stunting reduction nationally. It takes a quantitative description approach that uses secondary data sourced from the Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Republic of Indonesia in 2019–2021. The locus of papers is in five provinces, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The data collection and processing consisted of twenty stunting convergence coverage referring to regulations in Indonesia. The analysis used is an integrated framework based on five dimensions. Management based on an integrated framework in a regional-based system for stunting convergence can be a solution to accelerating stunting reduction. This paper provides an option to accelerate the handling of stunting through the Integration of Service Governance-Based Systems in Districts/Cities, considering the achievements in the last three years that have not been maximally carried out in every district/city in five provinces in Kalimantan, Indonesia. This study explains that the local government needs to socialize and disseminate the commitment to stunting reduction results to reaffirm commitment and encourage all parties to actively contribute to integrated stunting reduction efforts. This paper has limitations in the implementation of dimensions that can develop in a context that is correlated with several perspectives, such as regional planning, budgetary capacity, and regional capacity. Abstract The global ubiquity and demonstrated toxicity of microplastics has led governments around the world to express the need for a risk assessment on microplastics. To conduct a risk assessment, scientists often draw upon frameworks from other contaminants, however we argue that microplastics are a unique pollutant and thus require a unique framework. Microplastics are a multidimensional contaminant, differing in size, shape, polymer type, and chemical cocktail. Each of these dimensions may influence the toxicity of the particle. Furthermore, microplastic pollution exists as a complex and dynamic mixture of particles, that varies over temporal and spatial scales. Thus, we propose a multidimensional risk framework for microplastics that incorporates, rather than simplifies, the multidimensionality of the contaminant as well as the contaminant mixture. With this framework, we can calculate a particle-specific hazard value that describes the potential for a single particle to cause harm based on its chemical and physical properties. The particle-specific hazard values can then be combined based on the number and type of particles in an environmental sample to inform the overall hazard value of the sample. The risk of the sample can then be calculated, which is dependent on the overall hazard value and the concentration of particles in the sample. Risk values among samples in the environment can be compared to illustrate differences among locations or seasons, or can be placed in a management framework with thresholds to guide regulatory decisions. To demonstrate the utility of our proposed framework, we perform a case study using data from San Francisco Bay. Our proposed framework is just that, and requires new research for application. To strengthen the ability of this framework to accurately predict risk, we propose a testing scheme that prioritizes strategic experimental designs that will increase our understanding of how each dimension of microplastics affect the toxicity (or hazard value) of a particle.

Servitization is recognized as a key business strategy for original equipment manufacturers willing to move up the value chain. However, several barriers have to be overcome in order to successfully integrate products and services. Many of these barriers are caused by the technical challenges associated with the design and management of the product-service systems (PSSs), such as life cycle service level and cost estimation, risk management, or the system design and pricing. Asset management (AM) presents itself as a key research area in order to overcome these barriers as well as to integrate PSSs within the manufacturers’ operations management. It is the scope of this article to provide theoretical and practical insights with regards to the alignment of AM and PSS research areas. To support the alignment between both areas, a management framework which gathers specific technologies, including reliability analysis, simulation modeling, and multiobjective optimization algorithms, is presented. The purpose of the framework is to provide manufacturers with a decision-support tool that facilitates the main managerial challenges faced when implementing a servitization strategy. The article contributions are successfully applied to case studies in the railway and wind energy sectors based on real field data, thereby demonstrating their suitability for both facilitating manufacturer’s decision-making process and better satisfying stakeholders’ interests. The complexity of risk assessment and the challenges in decision-making often impede the application of various models to renewable energy systems. This study introduces a comprehensive framework designed to streamline this process, facilitating informed decisions regarding the estimation of risks associated with solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies. Leveraging data and information available in the literature, the framework is particularly useful for manufacturers in selecting materials that balance low environmental risk with high efficiency. The framework emphasizes early-stage risk minimization by integrating changes during PV development, thereby promoting cleaner production systems. It's interconnected components encompass various approaches to risk assessment, control, and management, providing a structured methodology for risk reduction. Based on available information, the defined steps guide users through evaluating and mitigating risks. Applying risk minimization by metal substitution approach lowers the oral-ingestion and dermal-contact risk by a magnitude of four and six times, respectively. This framework will guide regulatory bodies throughout each step of the product life cycle, suggesting necessary changes and assessment strategies aligned with the perspectives of various stakeholders. The contemporary complex settings under which research and innovation (R&I) activities are executed in academic institutions calls for the definition of suitable management and administration approaches. To this end, (1) the existing literature on the management of R&I projects in the academia is reviewed; (2) major specificities of R&I projects are discussed; (3) recent trends in project management are addressed; and (4) a specific framework for the management of R&I projects in higher education is proposed. The proposed management framework is defined in eight pillars, namely: (i) clarification of scope and goals; (ii) use of standards; (iii) scalability and flexibility; (iv) workflow modelling; (v) use of tools, techniques and templates; (vi) existence of a "project board" or similar; (vii) adequate risk management; and (viii) organizational learning. The authors argue that it should be seen as a practical tool for university managers and administrators to apply a structured and comprehensive overview of key action areas that will increase the effectiveness, efficiency and impact of R&I project management and administration in academic contexts. The three contiguous National Estuary Programs of southwest Florida, along with partners from six coastal counties, have developed a tidal creek water quality assessment framework to help prioritize natural resource investigations across a large population of tidal creeks between Tampa Bay and Estero Bay, Florida. The assessment framework is based on outcomes of a multidisciplinary study and includes a nutrient based report card that characterizes nutrient conditions relative to regional numeric nutrient criteria developed for contributing freshwater streams, identification of site-specific water quality indicators of tidal creek condition, and an online open science dashboard to display the assessment framework and provide access to all information relevant to its implementation. Application of the assessment framework has provided an actionable list of southwest Florida tidal creeks prioritized for further research and potential management action along with a host of site-specific indicator results that provide insights into drivers of tidal creek condition. The open science dashboard provides a platform for dissemination of this information in a readily accessible and reproducible format and a means to incorporate new data and indicators as they become available. Local resource managers are in need of tools to help prioritize natural resource investigations and management actions that achieve the greatest resource benefit with limited available resources. This assessment framework informs these efforts and builds capacity for future research to identify and refine management tools for these creeks where management resources, data, and sentinel biological response endpoints are limited. China has made efforts toward the preservation and utilization of human genetic resources (HGRs). In recent years, in the face of various issues that have become increasingly prominent in HGR research, China has continuously strengthened legislation and ethics, and has initially established a relatively complete legal system and ethical guidelines. In the design of regulatory responsibilities, a multisectoral linkage of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the National Health Commission (NHC), the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), and the National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has been formed. In the supervision system, it includes a three-tier structure of Laws/Acts-Regulations-Guidance. In terms of management content, it mainly draws on the basic principles of international conventions such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and implements examination and approval filing management and ethical supervision of HGR research in China. By‐catch is the primary global conservation threat to populations of dolphins and porpoises. Despite protection for these protected species under its Habitats Directive, the European Union (EU) has failed to adequately assess and, where necessary, mitigate the by‐catch of small cetaceans. Management authority is diffuse, and the EU has no over‐arching, quantitative conservation objectives. To address this, we recommend that the EU adopt a comprehensive plan to conserve dolphins and porpoises in European waters. This plan should include regular formal assessments of small cetacean populations, including establishment of quantitative management objectives, generation of estimates of abundance and by‐catch mortality, and agreement on biological reference points that will guide management actions to ensure that by‐catch does not exceed sustainable levels. The burgeoning management science fields have produced and continue to produce vast quantities of advice, frameworks, and checklists for owners, leaders, and managers. Systems scientists have long proposed that systems, both natural and human-made, significantly drive individual behavior within the system and exhibit repeating structures and patterns known as archetypes. Systems do so because the archetypal patterns are fundamental to the system's dynamics. Enterprises represent a specific class of socio-technical systems, which have been studied using management and social science disciplines. Evidence is emerging that the proliferation of management science may be overwhelming, that the advice is not sufficiently integrated, and only addresses discrete parts of the enterprise, not the whole enterprise system. One would expect to find evidence of repeating patterns in the general class of socio-technical systems known as enterprises. This article is an exploratory analysis of existing management frameworks and researches the evidence for an archetypal construct that may be beneficial to small, and large, business managers. The author presents evidence of such an archetype, thereby building on general management theory that is helpful in assisting management thought in complex environments. Finally, the author proposes a framework for management based on the findings. Using the common elements of the proposed framework, owners and senior managers were surveyed to determine whether using such an archetype as a system and in a systematic way enhanced enterprise performance. Holistic conservation of ecosystem services (ES) requires a greater understanding of how the interactions of biotic and abiotic aspects of nature provide them. Currently, geodiversity, the diversity of geology, geomorphology, sediments and soils and hydrology, as well as the services that they provide in isolation of interactions with biotic nature – geosystem services (GS) – are overlooked in ES literature and frameworks. Here, we provide a series of three nested frameworks which together help to provide clarity for both the theoretical role of geodiversity in service production as well as the basis for real-world management strategies. First, we present the 'Geodiversity Flower', a framework that can be operationalised to provide clarity in terminology to decision-makers. Second, we present the 'Geo-Eco Services Framework', which establishes the difference between ES and GS. The final framework presented is the 'Geo-Eco Services Cascade Model', which builds upon the widely used ES cascade model by demonstrating how geodiversity interacts with biotic nature to simultaneously provide ES and GS. Providing a holistic model that integrates both biotic and abiotic nature alongside ES and GS allows for a greater understanding of the roles of abiotic and biotic nature to services and their associated benefits and values to people. The importance of place in landscape management and outdoor recreation has been prominent in the literature since the 1970s. As such, calls to incorporate place into the management of parks, forests, and other protected areas exist. However, little work explores how place attachment may complement existing management frameworks. Hence, the purpose of this investigation was to explore levels of visitors' place attachment intensity across the six classes of the Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS). Survey data collected in North America and Europe indicated there was more similarity in place attachment intensities among areas classified toward the less developed end of the ROS, while greater variation existed among the more developed sites. Natural resource management frameworks are important in generating information that promotes the development of appropriate policies and regulation for effective management and utilization of different aspects of ecosystems. The Drivers-Pressure-State-Impact and Response (DPSIR) framework is one of such frameworks which has been widely applied globally in assessing, addressing and communicating with regard to environmental problems. This framework provides a nexus between the causes of environmental problems and the resultant pressures, associated impacts and responses needed to resolve and manage specific environmental issues and challenges. Based on improved management evidence for natural resources enabled by the application of the DPSIR framework globally, this paper is a review of the application of the framework in the management of coastal and marine fisheries resources in Kenya. Findings indicate that there exists a limited number of studies which have adopted the DPSIR framework approach in Kenya, and these are mainly focused on terrestrial ecosystems. However, coastal and marine resources have been well studied in Kenya using different methodological approaches that have given insights into the conditions of resources. This review, therefore, analyzed these studies to understand drivers, pressures, states, impacts and responses in relation to coastal and marine fisheries resources in Kenya. The main drivers observed were a high population growth rate of 3.7% as well as a high dependency rate on natural resources of 74% and 58% in Ngomeni and Kipini fishing areas of north coast Kenya, respectively. There is also a lack of understanding regarding the potential of the DPSIR framework to effectively manage coastal and marine fisheries resources, particularly in the context of sub-Saharan Africa, taking Kenya as a case study. This may result in the development of fisheries regulations that are not holistic in their approach, and therefore, ineffective from a management perspective. Under the dual influences of high‐intensity anthropogenic activity and climate change, wetland hydrologic connectivity (HC) has decreased significantly, resulting in the severe fragmentation of wetlands, a decrease in wetland area, and a degradation of hydrological functions, resulting in a worsening disaster response to floods and droughts. Dynamic changes in wetland HC are affected by a variety of factors. Many degraded wetlands have undergone measures to restore HC. Recovery can improve the HC pattern of degraded wetlands. Based on the knowledge of practitioners and a review of the literature, it was found that recovery measures can be divided into structural recovery and functional recovery according to the specific recovery objectives. However, the current recovery method lacks a holistic analysis of the HC pattern. To this end, we propose a hydrologic network–water balance‐based HC recovery and management framework that overcomes the limitations of single‐drive‐factor repair and local repair effects. The Japanese Spanish mackerel Scomberomorus niphonius (Cuvier, 1832) is widely distributed in the subtropical and temperate waters of the northwestern Pacific Ocean, supporting one of the most important commercial fisheries in China. However, ignoring the potential population structure changes induced by fishing pressure and climate change may undermine the population stability under the current management strategy. In this study, the population structure of the Japanese Spanish mackerel was investigated based on a morphometric truss network system. A total of 534 individuals were randomly collected from commercial gill nets spanning eight major spawning grounds in the Bohai, Yellow, and East China Seas during the peak spawning seasons respectively. A total of 17 measurements (including eye diameter) were conducted in each specimen and subjected to principal component analysis (PCA) and discriminant function analysis (DFA). The results of PCA indicated that the first two factors cumulatively caused 78.38% of the total morphometric variation and observable differences, primarily fin the caudal and trunk areas. The results of DFA revealed that the eight spawning groups can be divided into three stocks, i.e., southern, middle, and northern stocks, with 68.7% of total accuracy. In contrast to previous studies, the spawning groups of the Japanese Spanish mackerel demonstrated a tendency to disperse to northern regions. In conclusion, this study found that to maintain the stability of the population structure and the total production of Japanese Spanish mackerel S. niphonius (Cuvier, 1832), a newly revised management method should be developed and implemented. Small and Medium Enterprises are often excluded from public procurement contracts due to several factors. We need effective public procurement policies, systems and personnel to ensure that the opportunities are scaled up rapidly, transparently and fairly so that SMEs can get access to public procurement contracts. The advocacy for SMEs access to public procurement contracts is largely driven by status discrimination, equality and sustainable development. In this paper, we analytically design a procurement process that can enable SME’s access public procurement contracts within the Public Procurement and Disposal Authority legal framework. We take cognizance of the public procurement environment and develop a supportive management framework.
