This paper introduces a spin-free formulation of the supporting subspace factorization [C. Song and T. J. Martínez, J. Chem. Phys. 149, 044108 (2018)], enabling a reduction in the computational scaling of the extended multi-state complete active space second-order perturbation (XMS-CASPT2) method for arbitrary spins. Compared to the original formulation that is defined in the spin orbitals and is limited to singlet states, the spin-free formulation in this work treats different spin states equivalently, thus naturally generalizing the idea beyond singlet states. In addition, we will present a new way of deriving the supporting subspace factorization with the purpose of understanding its physical interpretation. In this new derivation, we separate the sources that make CASPT2 difficult into the "same-site interactions" and "inter-site interactions." We will first show how the Kronecker sum can be used to remove the same-site interactions in the absence of inter-site interactions, leading to MP2 energy in dressed orbitals. We will then show how the inter-site interactions can be exactly recovered using Löwdin partition, where the supporting subspace concept will naturally arise. The new spin-free formulation maintains the main advantage of the supporting subspace factorization, i.e., allowing XMS-CASPT2 energies to be computed using highly optimized MP2 energy codes and Fock build codes, thus reducing the scaling of XMS-CASPT2 to the same scaling as MP2. We will present and discuss results that benchmark the accuracy and performance of the new method. To demonstrate how the new method can be useful in studying real photochemical systems, the supporting subspace XMS-CASPT2 is applied to a photoreaction sensitive to magnetic field effects. The advancement of magnetic materials with coupled magneto-structural phase transition (MST) to fulfill the ultimate objectives of practical solid-state cooling applications requires a better understanding of the hysteresis phenomenon linked across the phase transition region along with the large magnetocaloric parameters. For the present sample Mn0.65Ni0.65Fe0.70Si, the MST is associated with a sharp jump in magnetization along with a small thermal hysteresis of ∼13 K. A giant isothermal magnetic entropy change (| Δ S M max |) of ∼37.6 J kg−1 K−1 at 299 K and effective refrigerant capacity (R C effe ) of ∼214.3 J kg−1 under ΔH = 30 kOe is obtained with excellent compatibility between the martensite and austenite phases. The geometrical compatibility condition, i.e., very small (∼0.55%) deviation of the middle eigenvalue (λ 2) from unity justifies the observation of small hysteresis in the present material. The investigation of hysteresis behavior under different extents of the driving forces (temperature or magnetic field) reveals that both the driving forces trigger equally the phase transition and are responsible equivalently for the hysteresis phenomenon. The present study provides a pathway to understand the complexity of the hysteresis behavior, its impact on the reversibility of magnetocaloric effect, and its minimization by optimizing the geometrical compatibility condition between the austenite and martensite phases. Magnetically ordering media support spin waves or magnons, which can couple with electromagnetic waves to form magnon polaritons. Based on insulating antiferromagnets, magnon polaritons are situated in the far-infrared or THz frequency range. We investigated Dyakonov surface magnon polaritons (DSMPs) at the antiferromagnetic surface in an external magnetic field, where the external field and antiferromagnetic easy axis lie in the surface plane and are normal to each other. Our numerical results are based on the MnF2 crystal, but the conclusions and qualitative results are also available to other insulating antiferromagnets. We predicted two field-tunable DSMPs and one tunable Dyakonov surface magnon. We discerned the main effects of the external magnetic field on the DSMPs; either DSMPs are sensitively modulated by the external field or there is a cutoff magnetic field. Their individual Poynting vector seriously deviates the propagation direction and is sensitively controlled by the external field. The spin angular momentum contains two components normal to each other, unlike conventional surface magnon polaritons. One of the DSMPs can carry a huge Poynting vector and spin angular momentum in the external magnetic field. Electromagnetohydrodynamic (EMHD) flow in porous media is recently gaining substantial attention from researchers. EMHD involves analyzing the combined effects of electric and magnetic fields on the behavior of fluid flow through a medium. The effective permeability of porous materials is of great interest for many environmental and industrial applications. The present study focuses on the modeling of single-phase fluid flow in porous media under combined effects of electric and magnetic fields at the pore scale by employing a two-scale computational homogenization technique. The primary objective of this study is to establish a definition of "electromagnetopermeability" that accurately characterizes the effective permeability of a porous medium under the EMHD effects. Additionally, the study investigates the impact of wall zeta potential, Debye length, and the intensity of external magnetic and electric fields, represented by the Hartmann number and the non-dimensional parameter S, respectively, on the electromagnetopermeability tensor within an idealized three-dimensional periodic porous domain. It is observed that the EM-permeability is significantly affected by the existence of the flow-assisting and flow-opposing components of the Lorentz force term in the momentum equation. Understanding and modulating the spin-pair correlation of conjugated polymer materials in π-conjugated polymer light-emitting devices (PLEDs) plays a crucial role in the development of their applications. We investigated the relationships between the internal hyperfine interactions (HFIs), triplet–triplet annihilation (TTA), and triplet–charge annihilation (TCA) spin evolution processes in π-conjugated PLED. Research has shown that in a unipolar π-conjugated PLED, the "M" shaped ultra-small magnetic field effect is due to the HFI between hole polarons and the spin-mixing process of charge carriers. Under high magnetic fields (15 mT<|B|<350 mT), the TCA process dominates the negative magneto-conductance (MC), and its intensity and sign are not controlled by temperature. In polar π-conjugated PLED, excess carriers can provide conditions for the generation of TCA. Moreover, π-conjugated polymers (emission layers) have relatively strong electron–phonon coupling, which can capture triplet excitons into adjacent organic layers to obtain higher triplet exciton concentrations, resulting in the TTA process. Under low-temperature conditions, excess carriers induce the magneto-electroluminescence (MEL) effect to undergo TTA and form P-type delayed fluorescence. A one-dimensional implicit particle-in-cell/Monte Carlo collision simulation was employed to study the effects of a uniform weak magnetic field and negative direct-current (DC) voltage on a radio frequency capacitively coupled plasma (CCP). The simulation results indicate that the application of a magnetic field to RF/DC hybrid power-driven CCP discharge can increase the plasma density and cause it to exhibit an asymmetric distribution. When the magnetic field strength increases, pronounced striations can be observed within the DC sheath in the spatiotemporal plots of an electron heating rate and an ionization rate. This is attributed to the generation of a large number of secondary electrons by the DC electrode. These secondary electrons are accelerated by the sheath voltage and undergo E × B drift motion. When the energy of these electrons reaches the ionization threshold of an argon gas, ionization occurs. At this point, the electrons are still situated within the DC sheath, and hence, they repeatedly undergo this process until they exit the DC sheath. Additionally, the electron energy distribution function reveals that an increase in a magnetic field can cause a transition from stochastic heating to ohmic heating. The simulation results of magnetized CCP discharge under the influence of negative DC voltage show that increasing negative DC voltage can effectively improve plasma density. The application of negative DC voltage and magnetic field strength has similar effects on the heating stripe phenomenon. The operating bandwidth of miniaturized magnetoelectric (ME) antenna is generally narrow due to the acoustic wave driven magneto-electromechanical resonance effect, parallel connection of multiple ME antennas with different resonant frequencies is an effective way to broaden the operating bandwidth of the antenna. This paper presents an ME antenna array consisting of three units, which are constructed of a sandwich stack of Metglas/Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3/Metglas. The −3 dB operating bandwidth of 152.4–172.8 kHz is achieved, and the relative bandwidth is 12.5%. Experimental results indicated that the bias magnetic field and coupling effect between the ME antenna units significantly influence the performance of ME antenna array. A modified Butterworth–Van Dyke (MBVD) equivalent circuit model is used and improved to analyze the influence of sound waves, electric fields, magnetic fields, parasitic capacitance, and bias magnetic field on the ME antenna array. The simulation results of the MBVD equivalent circuit model are agreed well with the experimental results. The improved MBVD model is beneficial for the design of acoustic wave driven antenna array. Cryptochrome 4a (Cry4a) has been proposed as the sensor at the heart of the magnetic compass in migratory songbirds. Blue-light excitation of this protein produces magnetically sensitive flavin–tryptophan radical pairs whose properties suggest that Cry4a could indeed be suitable as a magnetoreceptor. Here, we use cavity ring-down spectroscopy to measure magnetic field effects on the kinetics of these radical pairs in modified Cry4a proteins from the migratory European robin and from nonmigratory pigeon and chicken. B1/2, a parameter that characterizes the magnetic field-dependence of the reactions, was found to be larger than expected on the basis of hyperfine interactions and to increase with the delay between pump and probe laser pulses. Semiclassical spin dynamics simulations show that this behavior is consistent with a singlet–triplet dephasing (STD) relaxation mechanism. Analysis of the experimental data gives dephasing rate constants, rSTD, in the range 3–6 × 107 s−1. A simple "toy" model due to Maeda, Miura, and Arai [Mol. Phys. 104, 1779–1788 (2006)] is used to shed light on the origin of the time-dependence and the nature of the STD mechanism. Under the conditions of the experiments, STD results in an exponential approach to spin equilibrium at a rate considerably slower than rSTD. We attribute the loss of singlet–triplet coherence to electron hopping between the second and third tryptophans of the electron transfer chain and comment on whether this process could explain differences in the magnetic sensitivity of robin, chicken, and pigeon Cry4a's. The concept of building logically functional networks employing spintronics or magnetic heterostructures is becoming more and more popular today. Incorporating logical segments into a circuit needs physical bonds between the magnetic molecules or clusters involved. In this framework, we systematically study ultrafast laser-induced spin-manipulation scenarios on a closed system of three carbon chains to which three Ni atoms are attached. After the inclusion of spin–orbit coupling and an external magnetic field, different ultrafast spin dynamics scenarios involving spin-flip and long-distance spin-transfer processes are achieved by various appropriately well-tailored time-resolved laser pulses within subpicosecond timescales. We additionally study the various effects of an external magnetic field on spin-flip and spin-transfer processes. Moreover, we obtain spin-dynamics processes induced by a double laser pulse, rather than a single one. We suggest enhancing the spatial addressability of spin-flip and spin-transfer processes. The findings presented in this article will improve our knowledge of the magnetic properties of carbon-based magnetic molecular structures. For more than 60 years, scientists have been fascinated by the fact that magnetic fields even weaker than internal hyperfine fields can markedly affect spin-selective radical-pair reactions. This weak magnetic field effect has been found to arise from the removal of degeneracies in the zero-field spin Hamiltonian. Here, I investigated the anisotropic effect of a weak magnetic field on a model radical pair with an axially symmetric hyperfine interaction. I found that S–T± and T0–T± interconversions driven by the smaller x and y-components of the hyperfine interaction can be hindered or enhanced by a weak external magnetic field, depending on its direction. Additional isotropically hyperfine-coupled nuclear spins preserve this conclusion, although the S → T± and T0 → T± transitions become asymmetric. We demonstrate nonreciprocal critical current in 65 nm thick polycrystalline and epitaxial Nb thin films patterned into tracks. The nonreciprocal behavior gives a supercurrent diode effect, where the current passed in one direction is a supercurrent and the other direction is a normal state (resistive) current. We attribute fabrication artifacts to creating the supercurrent diode effect in our tracks. We study the variation of the diode effect with temperature and the magnetic field and find a dependence with the width of the Nb tracks from 2 to 10 μ m. For both polycrystalline and epitaxial samples, we find that tracks of width 4 μ m provide the largest supercurrent diode efficiency of up to ≈ 30 % , with the effect reducing or disappearing in the widest tracks of 10 μ m. We propose a model based on the limiting contributions to the critical current density to explain the track width dependence of the induced supercurrent diode effect. A low-frequency dielectric response of a ferrofluid based on transformer oil and MnZn ferrite nanoparticles is investigated in a gradient magnetic field. Four ferrofluid samples of various nanoparticle concentrations were introduced into planar micro-capacitors located over a magnetized tip. The dielectric spectra were measured in the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz and in the local magnetic field up to 100 mT. The spectra exhibit a dielectric relaxation ascribed to nanoparticle interfacial polarization. The low-frequency spectrum of each ferrofluid decreases upon application of the magnetic field up to 20 mT. The decrease in dielectric permittivity is caused by a magnetic force acting on larger nanoparticles in the gradient magnetic field. It is assumed that the interfaces of the concentrated nanoparticles in the gradient field do not contribute to the effective dielectric response. This reduces the effective relaxation time and shifts the relaxation toward higher frequencies. The dielectric spectra are well described by a relaxation fit function consisting of one Havriliak–Negami and a conductivity term. The fitting confirms that the only effect of the gradient magnetic field on the dielectric spectra is the shift of the dielectric relaxation and the decrease of the amplitude in the imaginary permittivity. This behavior is evident from a master plot, where all dielectric relaxations are superimposed on a single line. The knowledge of the presented behavior of the ferrofluid may be valuable when applying a ferrofluid to sharply magnetized parts of various electrical equipment (wires, tips, screws, nails, edges) as a liquid dielectric medium. Inspired by liquid bridge bearings, a kind of ferrofluid (FF) bearing is proposed in this work. The bearing contains two plates with a drop of FF sandwiched between them. To restrain and position the FF, a cylindrical magnet is implanted in the lower plate. The carrying capacity of the liquid bridge and FF bearing is tested and compared. The results indicate that both bearings can provide a certain amount of liquid supporting force. For similar geometries, the maximum force generated by the FF bearing (1.60 N) is about 20 times higher than that of the liquid bearing (0.08 N). Moreover, due to the effect of the magnetic field, the supporting performance of the FF bearing is more stable, especially in small gap heights. To further understand the supporting mechanism, a model of the FF bearing for the carrying capacity was built and validated by the experiment. Theoretical analysis manifests that, compared with the Laplace force, the magnetic force acts as a dominant contribution to the FF bearing. This work provides an interesting way to create liquid support for MEMS applications that demand controllable micro-platforms or frictionless bearings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study conducts the thermodynamics analysis of creeping viscous nanofluid influenced by metachronical waves in an inclined ciliated tube and investigates the effects of magnetic field, porous medium and Hall current. Moreover, heat transport analysis is performed to consider the viscous dissipation phenomena. Thermal conductivity of the fluid is made more effective by adopting water-based titanium dioxide nanoparticles. TiO 2 is chosen as it has many remarkable implications in nanobio-sensing, medical implants, drug delivery and antibacterial fields. The governing equations are formulated which are converted into ordinary differential system by taking into account the similarity variables. The analytical solution are obtained for momentum, pressure gradient and energy profiles. It is found that the entropy generation is an increasing function of the Eckert number, Prandtl number and dimensionless temperature difference. Enhancing the recovery efficiency of non-ferrous metals in eddy current separation is of great significance. In this study, the accuracy of the simulation model was verified by comparing the eddy current force. The transformation mechanism of the Lorentz forces into the eddy current force and torque in non-ferrous metal particles was revealed by analyzing various physical fields. Then, the influence of magnetic field parameters on eddy current, eddy current force, and torque was studied. It shows that the eddy current force and torque are affected by the vector gradient of the magnetic field and the magnetic flux density, respectively. Additionally, the time derivative of the magnetic field impacts the magnitude of the eddy current force and torque by controlling the eddy current. On this basis, the empirical models of eddy current force and torque were established by similarity theory. The results obtained can improve and expand the application of eddy current separation. We theoretically study biexcitons and quadrons in quantum dots with parabolic confinement and give a complete comparison between the two excitations. The calculation of quadron and biexciton binding energies as functions of electron-to-hole confinement potentials and mass ratios, using the unrestricted Hartree–Fock method, shows the essential differences between biexcitons and quadrons. The crossover between the negative and positive binding energies is indicated. The effect of an external magnetic field on the quadron and biexciton binding energies has also been investigated. In addition, the crossover between anti-binding and binding of both excited quadron and biexciton states in a certain range of the electron-to-hole oscillator length ratios has been found. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the Jeffery-Hamel model and entropy generation on the thermal radiation and magnetohydrodynamic flow of second-grade hybrid nanofluid between convergence and divergence channels in stretching and shrinking walls. We used blood as the base fluid and Cu and Fe3O4 as the nanoparticles in our model. The highly coupled nonlinear Partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations with the help of self-similarities transformation and solved using MATLAB solver by using the Bvp4c shooting technique. The Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM) is compared to the Numerical Method (NM), and the results are reliable. The influences of velocity, temperature, entropy generation, and the Bejan number on nondimensional parameters like a magnetic field, the Reynolds number, thermal radiation, Deborah number, magnetic field, and the Brinkman number are discussed through graphs. The skin friction coefficients and heat transfer are also studied and portrayed as graphs and tables. The effect of a magnetic field on the velocity of stretching and shrinking through converging and diverging channels. When increasing the magnetic field, the velocity profile increases. As magnetic field values increase, the temperature profile decreases with the stretching and shrinking of converging channels. Also, the opposite behavior of stretching and shrinking for diverging channels is observed. As the Deborah number grows, the velocity reduces for the converging channel in the stretching and shrinking of the walls. It is observed that the opposite nature of the diverging channel occurs in the stretching and shrinking of the walls. An exact similarity solution is worked out for fluid motion in the vicinity of a cylindrical surface in an electrically conducting viscoelastic fluid obeying the Jeffrey model. Cylindrical surface expands axially with linear velocity and has a prescribed surface temperature. The present analysis focuses on the partial slip assumption which gives rise to a nonlinear case Robin-type (mixed) boundary condition in axial velocity. In contrast to a previously published study (J. Mech., vol 31, pp. 69–78, 2015) which only reported local similarity solutions in no-slip case, the present work provides an exact similarity analysis by defining a quadratic surface temperature. The effects of the magnetic field and Joule heating on the momentum and thermal transport phenomena are also scrutinized. A numerical routine is used to solve the equation accurately for a wide range of fluid parameters, including ranges that could not be handled by previous approximate analytical methods that were limited to the no-slip limit. The influences of viscoelasticity and partial slip on the flow behavior are investigated, and the coefficient of skin friction for a Jeffrey fluid is calculated. Obtained results are consistent with the previously published works under special situations. Quenched Co-based ribbon strips are widely used in the fields of magnetic amplifier, magnetic head material, magnetic shield, electric reactor, inductance core, sensor core, anti-theft system label, and so on. In this study, Co-based composite CoFeNiSiB ribbon strips with a micron width were fabricated by micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The carbon and FeCoGa nanofilms were deposited for surface modification. The effect of carbon and FeCoGa nanofilm coatings on the crystal structure, surface morphology, magnetic properties, and magnetoimpedance (MI) effect of composite ribbon strips were systematically investigated. The results show that the surface roughness and coercivity of the composite ribbon strips are minimum at a thickness of the carbon coating of 60 nm. The maximum value of MI effect is 41% at 2 MHz, which is approximately 2.4 times greater than plain ribbon and 1.6 times greater than FeCoGa-coated composite ribbon strip. The addition of a carbon layer provides a conductive path for high frequency currents, which effectively reduces the characteristic frequency of the composite ribbon strip. The FeCoGa coating is able to close the flux path and reduce the coercivity, which, in turn, increases the transverse permeability and improves the MI effect. The findings indicate that a successful combination of carbon layer and magnetostrictive FeCoGa nanofilm layer can improve the MI effect and magnetic field sensitivity of the ribbon strips, demonstrating the potential of the composite strips for local and micro area field sensing applications. We present a macroscale constitutive model that couples magnetism with thermal, elastic, plastic, and damage effects in an Internal State Variable (ISV) theory. Previous constitutive models did not include an interdependence between the internal magnetic (magnetostriction and magnetic flux) and mechanical fields. Although constitutive models explaining the mechanisms behind mechanical deformations caused by magnetization changes have been presented in the literature, they mainly focus on nanoscale structure–property relations. A fully coupled multiphysics macroscale ISV model presented herein admits lower length scale information from the nanoscale and microscale descriptions of the multiphysics behavior, thus capturing the effects of magnetic field forces with isotropic and anisotropic magnetization terms and moments under thermomechanical deformations. For the first time, this ISV modeling framework internally coheres to the kinematic, thermodynamic, and kinetic relationships of deformation using the evolving ISV histories. For the kinematics, a multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient is employed including a magnetization term; hence, the Jacobian represents the conservation of mass and conservation of momentum including magnetism. The first and second laws of thermodynamics are used to constrain the appropriate constitutive relations through the Clausius–Duhem inequality. The kinetic framework employs a stress–strain relationship with a flow rule that couples the thermal, mechanical, and magnetic terms. Experimental data from the literature for three different materials (iron, nickel, and cobalt) are used to compare with the model's results showing good correlations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigate the impact of a magnetic field on surfactant concentration and interfacial forces across droplet surfaces within shear flows. Our analysis centers on a single two-dimensional ferrofluid droplet covered with surfactants, suspended in an immiscible, non-magnetizable liquid. The model combines incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and Maxwell's equations in the superparamagnetic limit in the single-fluid formulation, augmented by terms accounting for Marangoni, capillary, and magnetic forces at the droplet interface. We solve the surfactant convection-diffusion equation at the surface, while a non-linear Langmuir equation of state relates surfactant concentration to surface tension. The model is numerically solved using finite differences, a level-set method for multiphase flow computation, and the closest-point method for concentration equation. Our findings reveal that even though the surfactant is magnetically neutral, the presence of a magnetic field significantly modifies its distribution at the interface. A magnetic field perpendicular to the primary flow direction shifts the maximum concentration zone from the droplet tips toward the flow vorticity direction, while a parallel field produces the opposite effect. Alterations in surfactant distribution directly impact the surface tension field, offering a potential wireless means of controlling droplet dynamics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cyanobacteria represent a rich resource of a wide array of unique bioactive compounds that are proving to be potent sources of anticancer drugs. Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have shown an increasing potential as major therapeutic platforms and led to the production of higher levels of ROS that can present desirable anticancer properties. Chitosan–SeNPs have also presented antitumor properties against hepatic cancer cell lines, especially the Cht-NP (Chitosan–NPs), promoting ROS generation and mitochondria dysfunction. It is proposed that magnetic fields can add new dimensions to nanoparticle applications. Hence, in this study, the biosynthesis of SeNPs using Alborzia kermanshahica and chitosan (CS) as stabilizers has been developed. The SeNPs synthesis was performed at different cyanobacterial cultivation conditions, including control (without magnetic field) and magnetic fields of 30 mT and 60 mT. The SeNPs were characterized by uv-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and TEM. In addition, the antibacterial activity, inhibition of bacterial growth, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), as well as the antifungal activity and cytotoxicity of SeNPs, were performed. The results of uv-visible spectrometry, DLS, and zeta potential showed that 60 mT had the highest value regarding the adsorption, size, and stabilization in compared to the control. FTIR spectroscopy results showed consistent spectra, but the increased intensity of peaks indicates an increase in bond number after exposure to 30 mT and 60 mT. The results of the antibacterial activity and the inhibition zone diameter of synthesized nanoparticles showed that Staphylococcus aureus was more sensitive to nanoparticles produced under 60 mT. Se-NPs produced by Alborzia kermanshahica cultured under a 60 mT magnetic field exhibit potent antimicrobial and anticancer properties, making them a promising natural agent for use in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industries. Objective. Online magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance could be especially beneficial for pencil beam scanned (PBS) proton therapy of tumours affected by respiratory motion. For the first time to our knowledge, we investigate the dosimetric impact of respiratory motion on MRI-guided proton therapy compared to the scenario without magnetic field. Approach. A previously developed analytical proton dose calculation algorithm accounting for perpendicular magnetic fields was extended to enable 4D dose calculations. For two geometrical phantoms and three liver and two lung patient cases, static treatment plans were optimised with and without magnetic field (0, 0.5 and 1.5 T). Furthermore, plans were optimised using gantry angle corrections (0.5 T +5° and 1.5 T +15°) to reproduce similar beam trajectories compared to the 0 T reference plans. The effect of motion was then considered using 4D dose calculations without any motion mitigation and simulating 8-times volumetric rescanning, with motion for the patient cases provided by 4DCT(MRI) data sets. Each 4D dose calculation was performed for different starting phases and the CTV dose coverage V 95% and homogeneity D 5%– D 95% were analysed. Main results. For the geometrical phantoms with rigid motion perpendicular to the beam and parallel to the magnetic field, a comparable dosimetric effect was observed independent of the magnetic field. Also for the five 4DCT(MRI) cases, the influence of motion was comparable for all magnetic field strengths with and without gantry angle correction. On average, the motion-induced decrease in CTV V 95% from the static plan was 17.0% and 18.9% for 1.5 T and 0.5 T, respectively, and 19.9% without magnetic field. Significance. For the first time, this study investigates the combined impact of magnetic fields and respiratory motion on MR-guided proton therapy. The comparable dosimetric effects irrespective of magnetic field strength indicate that the effects of motion for future MR-guided proton therapy may not be worse than for conventional PBS proton therapy. In this paper, we study the dynamic properties of spin–orbit coupling (SOC) hyperfine f =1 spinor antiferromagnetic Bose–Einstein condensates with the external magnetic field. The condensate is confined in a toroidal trap and the numerical results are obtained based on the multicomponent Gross–Pitaevskii equation. Our results show that, in the presence of SOC, the spin dynamics for zero magnetic field slows with an increase of radius of the torus. However, this process accelerates when the magnetic field is considered. In addition, in this case, the oscillation behavior is almost consistent with the considered maximum radius. In the absence of SOC, the periodicity of spin dynamics vanishes. We also compare the thermalization time for different magnetic fields and radii, which decreases considerably for nonzero magnetic fields with the increase of radius. Furthermore, our analysis suggests that for stronger magnetic field strength the density structure can be regulated. The current article deals with a novel idea of a suspension of spherical silver Ag , cylindrical aluminium oxide Al 2 O 3 and platelet aluminium Al nanoparticles in water–ethylene glycol as a conducting fluid through a convective stretching surface. The effects of induced magnetic field, heat sink or source, thermal radiation and slip condition aspect are also incorporated during ternary hybrid nanofluid flow. The significance of the current investigation lies in enhancing heat transfer efficiencies, high-temperature processes, electronic devices where heat is generated or cooling systems and metal casting. The numerical solutions of nonlinear ordinary differential are obtained by employing a finite difference approach via the bvp4c solver (MATLAB package). The obtained results pointed out that the spherical silver nanoparticles provide a higher rate of heat transfer followed by cylindrical alumina nanoparticles and platelet aluminium nanoparticles, respectively. Moreover, the velocity profile and induced magnetic profile decrease with increasing volume fraction of spherical Ag nanoparticles, cylindrical Al 2 O 3 alumina nanoparticles, platelet Al nanoparticles and induced magnetic parameter. The ternary hybrid nanofluid's heat transfer rate is greatly increased by larger values of the radiative parameter, Biot number and slip parameter. This study introduces an asymmetric V-shaped interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (AVIPMSM) by modifying the conventional flux barrier of a V-shaped interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (VIPMSM) including optimization-based finite element analysis (FEA). Nowadays usage of VIPMSM is increasing where higher torque density with high efficiency by decreasing the torque ripple factor is required. To improve these properties, flux barriers are modified in VIPMSM by applying optimization methods. For each pole of VIPMSM, modification has been depleted based on symmetric and asymmetric barriers. It introduces the magnetic field shifting effect in the motor. After deciding the flux barrier in the rotor, an optimized method is applied for achieving the proper dimensions of each barrier to estimate the maximum torque and other performances of the motor. Here, a 24/4 pole VIPMSM is considered for design and analysis. ANSYS Maxwell platform is chosen for performance analysis of motor. In addition to using the inbuilt minimum function optimization techniques of ANSYS, genetic algorithm (GA)/particle swarm optimization (PSO) in MATLAB is applied in the proposal to optimize the flux barriers of the motor. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, FEA is adopted by taking into account optimized parameters. The paper also investigates the effect of flux barriers on loss factors to improve the motor efficiency. A comparative study with the benchmark VIPMSM is presented to validate the designed AVIPMSM using optimization and its results are reported. Strengthening the thermal transfer of hot bodies is one of the topics that the old and new researches aim at due to its wide use in the fields of applied engineering. This research includes a study of thermal activity of five hot objects placed inside a cold chamber and rotating at constant speed. An equilateral triangular shape is the cross-sectional shape of the bodies. A rheologically complex fluid is poured into the chamber completely. A magnetic field of constant strength is applied to the x-direction of the chamber. The items studied here are: the rheological nature of the fluid by changing the value of power-law index (n = 0.8, 1 and 1.2), the rotational speed of the chamber is in terms of the Reynolds number (Re = 5 to 40), the magnetic field strength expressed in terms of the Hartmann number (Ha = 0 to 100) and finally buoyancy force (Ri = 0 to 50). The investigation was carried out using a numerical method adopted by a digital simulator with very high characteristics. The results showed that the thermal activity varies from one body to another. This research deals with heat and mass transport in 2D, steady laminar unidirectional flow of second-grade fluid inside converging/diverging stretchable channel with no slip effects. The similarity equations were engaged for the model development and acquired a model in the form of a joint system of ODEs comprising the innovative effects of thermal radiations, magnetic field and dissipation function. Then, mathematical treatment of the model was done via HAM Package and the results were furnished under the inspiration of physical constraints. It is pointed out that the fluid moves quite slowly in diverging cases than that of converging ones under multiple Re values, whereas magnetic field effects are almost negligible for the velocity profile. The temperature of the fluid can be enlarged by increasing Ec and Pr and Rd is not proven good in this study. In the study of the non-relativistic interaction between high-intensity femtosecond laser pulses and atoms, the influence of the magnetic field is commonly overlooked. This work investigates the effects of the magnetic field in the high-intensity few-cycle laser pulses with non-relativistic intensity of 3.5 × 10 14 W / cm 2 at the center wavelength of 800 nm on the high-order harmonic generation (HHG), attosecond pulse train (APT), isolated attosecond pulse (IAP), and the electron trajectory in the hydrogen atom, employing the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in three dimensions (3D-TDSE). Two polarizations, linear and circular, are considered. A comparison with the scenario where the magnetic field is not considered shows that the magnetic field can apply significant corrections to the results. Particularly, considering the magnetic field for circular polarization can make the cutoff frequency of HHG coincide with the semi-classical relationship of ħ ω c = I p + 3.17 U p , a case that for circular polarization does not exist without considering the magnetic field. Moreover, accounting for the magnetic field leads to a reduction in the attosecond pulse duration for circular polarization for APT ( 360 as versus 241 as ) and for IAP ( 834 as versus 602 as ). Additionally, the difference in production efficiency of HHG and APT between linear and circular polarization is reduced by two orders of magnitude, when magnetic field is considered. Although considering the magnetic field complicates the electron trajectory, especially for circular polarization, however, our quantum model provides enhanced insight into how the interaction works, especially when and where the electron collides with the parent nucleus. Vortices and bound states offer an effective means of comprehending the electronic properties of superconductors. Recently, surface-dependent vortex core states have been observed in the newly discovered kagome superconductors CsV 3 Sb 5. Although the spatial distribution of the sharp zero energy conductance peak appears similar to Majorana bound states arising from the superconducting Dirac surface states, its origin remains elusive. In this study, we present observations of tunable vortex bound states (VBSs) in two chemically-doped kagome superconductors Cs(V 1− x Tr x) 3 Sb 5 (Tr = Ta or Ti), using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy. The CsV 3 Sb 5 -derived kagome superconductors exhibit full-gap-pairing superconductivity accompanied by the absence of long-range charge orders, in contrast to pristine CsV 3 Sb 5. Zero-energy conductance maps demonstrate a field-driven continuous reorientation transition of the vortex lattice, suggesting multiband superconductivity. The Ta-doped CsV 3 Sb 5 displays the conventional cross-shaped spatial evolution of Caroli-de Gennes-Matricon bound states, while the Ti-doped CsV 3 Sb 5 exhibits a sharp, non-split zero-bias conductance peak (ZBCP) that persists over a long distance across the vortex. The spatial evolution of the non-split ZBCP is robust against surface effects and external magnetic field but is related to the doping concentrations. Our study reveals the tunable VBSs in multiband chemically-doped CsV 3 Sb 5 system and offers fresh insights into previously reported Y-shaped ZBCP in a non-quantum-limit condition at the surface of kagome superconductor. The analytical exact iteration method (AEIM) has been widely used to calculate N -dimensional radial Schrodinger equation with medium-modified form of Cornell potential and is generalized to the finite value of magnetic field (eB) with quasiparticle approach in hot quantum chromodynamics (QCD) medium. In N -dimensional space, the energy eigenvalues have been calculated for any states (n , l). These results have been used to study the properties of quarkonium states (i.e, the binding energy and mass spectra, dissociation temperature, and thermodynamical properties in the N -dimensional space). We have determined the binding energy of the ground states of quarkonium with magnetic field and dimensionality number. We have also determined the effects of magnetic field and dimensionality number on mass spectra for ground states of quarkonia. But the main result is quite noticeable for the values of dissociation temperature in terms of magnetic field and dimensionality number for ground states of quarkonia after using the criteria of dissociation energy. At last, we have also calculated the thermodynamical properties of QGP (i.e., pressure, energy density, and speed of sound) using the parameter eB with ideal equation of states (EoS). The recent identification of superconductive effects in multilayer graphene systems exhibiting coexistence of rhombohedral and Bernal structural phases has attracted great attention. Complex effects have been reported in the presence of dislocations and/or solitons between graphene layers. Local magnetic fields and percolative effects have also been identified in the presence of wrinkling and disclinations. Interestingly, a recent report has also demonstrated the local stabilization of disorder-rich rhombohedral phases in low dimensional systems comprising of multiwalled carbon nanotubes modified with sulfur. In this work we identify a variation in the predicted ABA Bernal graphitic ordering of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) fabricated in the presence of dichlorobenzene as a growth-promoter. The presented results highlight the stabilization of a high density of dislocations in samples produced by pyrolysis of low concentrations of ferrocene. We present an in-depth investigation of the dislocation-rich interfaces, especially by employing HRTEM analyses, evidencing a spontaneous local-insertion of low-dimensional atomic-lines (or solitons) into neighbouring atomic layers of curved graphene. Furthermore, by employing a methodology involving highly controllable cooling-rates and subsequential characterization through X-ray diffraction (XRD), we demonstrate a rapid migration of interstitial carbon, with relaxation of Fe3C into α-Fe and stabilization of local body centred tetragonal phases within the body centred cubic lattice of the nanowires. Interfacial or diluted exciplex organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with spacer‐separated electron–hole pairs have emerged as a promising approach for precise tuning the energy level of charge‐transfer (CT) excitons and the improvement in device performance. However, their microscopic energy gain and loss mechanisms are not well understood. In this study, magnetic field effects (MFEs) including magneto‐electroluminescence (MEL), magneto‐conductance (MC), and magneto‐efficiency (Mη) in two series of donor‐spacer‐acceptor type exciplex‐based OLEDs, which exhibited opposite distance‐dependent device performances, are studied to explore the microscopic dynamics of spacer‐separated electron–hole pairs. Intersystem crossing (ISC) between CT excitons and between polaron‐pairs, reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) between CT excitons, triplet–triplet annihilation (TTA), scattering and dissociation channels of triplet‐charge annihilation (TQA), and additional Dexter energy transfer (DET) processes are identified. The decreased external quantum efficiency (EQE) and MEL with increasing thickness of space layer in Configuration II devices are attributed to an activation of the potential DET process from the lowest triplet of spacer‐separated CT excitons to the lowest triplet of Bphen caused by their smaller energy gaps. An experimental platform is developed for the investigation of the Zeeman effect in strong magnetic fields. Mega-Gauss magnetic fields are generated by a 1 MA Zebra pulsed power machine using metal rod loads. A gas jet or CH oil on the load is the source of hydrogen. Excited hydrogen atoms are backlit by black body radiation from the rod load. Hydrogen absorption spectra are recorded with a grating spectrometer and intensified gated CCD camera. The experimental platform enables the observation of the quadratic Zeeman effect in hydrogen gas jets using the spectral shift of the central line in the Zeeman triplet. We investigate the effect of a weak magnetic field on momentum transport in a thermal QCD medium at finite quark chemical potential using a semiclassical kinetic theory. In the presence of a magnetic field, the momentum transport coefficients acquire a tensor structure, reflected by the five shear ( η 0 , η 1 , η 2 , η 3 and η 4 ) and two bulk viscous components ( ζ 0 and ζ 1 ). The weak magnetic field removes the degeneracy in the effective mass of flavors, leading to different masses for the left-handed (L) and right-handed (R) chiral modes of quarks. The coefficients, η 0 , η 1 and η 3 decrease with magnetic field in L mode and increase in R mode, whereas, η 2 and η 4 increase in both L and R modes. The bulk viscous coefficients, ζ 0 and ζ 1 increase with magnetic field for both L and R modes. The shear and bulk viscous coefficients positively amplify with baryon asymmetry. The primary objective of this study is to examine the effect of a uniformly constant spanwise magnetic field on exact coherent states and their structures in channel flow. Exact coherent states represent nonlinear solutions to the Navier–Stokes equations, bearing significant importance in the prediction and control of flow with and without magnetic field. Despite the recent extensive research which have reported the influences of magnetic fields with respect to fluid dynamics, the specific effect of a spanwise magnetic field on the exact coherent states remain ambiguous. To investigate the influence of magnetic field on exact coherent states in channel flow, our study encompasses Reynolds numbers ranging from 3000 to 10 000, with variations in the size of computational domains. High-precision direct numerical simulations, coupled with a Fourier–Chebyshev spatial pseudospectra discretization, are employed to solve the governing equations under the assumption of low magnetic Reynolds number. Starting from laminar flow, we utilize a bisection method on the amplitude of perturbations to track the exact coherent states in the channel. In a smaller computational domain 2π × 2.4 × 2, the spanwise magnetic field expedites the self-sustaining process of exact coherent structures, accelerating the transition from streamwise vortices to streamwise streaks. In a larger computational domain, the exact coherent states are bifurcated from relative periodic orbit solutions to traveling wave solutions. The bubble dynamic behaviors on the electrode surface are significantly affected by the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow induced by the Lorentz force resulting from the applied magnetic field. However, the mechanism of the impact of a magnetic field perpendicular to the electrode on the dynamic behaviors of bubble remain unclear. In this study, the evolution law of a single oxygen bubble on the surface of a TiO2 photoelectrode under the influence of a vertical magnetic field with different magnetic induction intensities was investigated. The presence of a vertical magnetic field effectively promoted the rapid detachment of bubbles from the electrode surface and greatly improved the gas evolution efficiency. The mass transfer was dominated by single-phase free convection during bubble evolution. Under the influence of the vertical magnetic field, the mass transfer coefficient near the electrode was enhanced, and the adverse effects of bubbles on mass transfer were counteracted when they entered the reaction-controlled growth phase. The further multiphysics simulation found that the MHD convection decreased the local supersaturation of reaction product oxygen molecules near the electrode, thereby reducing concentration overpotential and increasing the reaction rate. This study provides an experimental and theoretical basis for promoting the bubble detachment and the reaction rate on the gas evolving electrode surface during photoelectrochemical water splitting. In the liquid metal divertor of a magnetic confinement fusion device, the spreading characteristics of the liquid metal are crucial for ensuring the stable operation of the divertor. This study has experimentally investigated the spreading characteristics of a GaInSn alloy droplet on a solid substrate under a strong vertical magnetic field, with the magnetic field intensity ranging from 0 to 2.5 T. First, several parameters of the droplet, such as droplet shape, spreading factor, dynamic contact angle, spreading velocity, and rebound behavior after impacting, were studied without a magnetic field. The fitting relationship between maximum spreading factor βmax and Weber number We was obtained and has been compared with the scaling laws from the literature. Furthermore, the effect of the vertical magnetic field on those parameters has been investigated systematically. Quantitative results on βmax and the maximum spreading time tDmax, varied with the Hartmann number (Ha) and the We number, provide a comprehensive understanding of the spreading dynamics. The specific relationship between βmax and We number under different magnetic field intensities (B) shows that a vertical magnetic field has a great inhibiting effect on liquid metal droplet spreading. Finally, the influence of oxidation on droplet spreading characteristics also has been studied. Present communication explores a novel application of the computational intelligence technique, namely, the Levenberg–Marquardt scheme under a Backpropagated Neural Network (LM-BNN) to solve the mathematical model for the magnetohydrodynamic peristaltic transport of Reiner–Philippoff (R–Ph) pseudoplastic fluid considering the influences of Ohmic heating, mixed convection, and viscous dissipation through a symmetric channel. The R–Ph fluid model is used in this investigation to elucidate the non-Newtonian behavior of the fluid under consideration. The Reiner–Philippoff fluid model delineates the intricate relationship between stress and deformation rate within the fluid. There are a few studies available on the peristaltic transport of the Reiner–Philippoff fluid that do not incorporate Joule heating, mixed convection, and magnetic field effects. Therefore, a novel mathematical model is developed to employ an artificial neural network technique with a different approach that has not been examined before. The governing equations of the problem are simplified using long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations, and the resulting system is numerically solved using the BVP4c scheme in MATLAB based on the shooting algorithm. Furthermore, a dataset is constructed through the BVP4c technique for the proposed LM-BNN, considering eight scenarios of peristaltic motion of the Reiner–Philippoff fluid model by varying the Bingham number, the Brinkman number, the Grashof number, the R–Ph fluid parameter, and the Hartmann number. The numerical dataset is divided into 15 % for testing, 15 % for training, and 70 % for validation, which are utilized in LM-BNN to analyze the numerical solutions and Levenberg–Marquardt neural networks (LM-NNs) predicted results. The consistency and effectiveness of LM-BNN are validated through regression analysis, stresses at the wall, error histogram, correlation index, heat transfer, and mean squared error based fitness curves, which vary from 10 − 3 → 10 − 11 . Variations in several flow parameters affecting temperature and velocity profiles are explained physically through graphs. Additionally, an analysis of heat transfer and stresses at the wall, including absolute errors, is provided through tables. The outcomes reveal that the improving Grashof number and the Hartmann number tend to increase the temperature profile. Tabular results indicate that rates of heat transfer improve when assigning higher values to the Hartmann number, the Brinkman number, and the Grashof number, whereas stresses at the wall decrease for the Reiner–Philippoff fluid parameter and the Bingham number. The error analysis of numerical simulations is a valuable step in determining whether the data obtained are reliable and accurate. In terms of absolute error, the disagreement between numerical solutions and those predicted by LM-NNs is approximately 10 − 5 → 10 − 11 . Platelets are actively involved in tissue injury site regeneration by producing a wide spectrum of platelet-derived growth factors such as PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor), TGF-β1 (transforming growth factor β), FGF (fibroblast growth factor), etc. A rotating magnetic field (RMF) can regulate biological functions, including reduction or induction regarding inflammatory processes, cell differentiation, and gene expression, to determine the effect of an RMF on the regenerative potential of platelets. The study group consisted of 30 healthy female and male volunteers (n = 15), from which plasma was collected. A portion of the plasma was extracted and treated as an internal control group. Subsequent doses of plasma were exposed to RMF at different frequencies (25 and 50 Hz) for 1 and 3 h. Then, the concentrations of growth factors (IGF-1, PDGF-BB, TGF-β1, and FGF-1) were determined in the obtained material by the ELISA method. There were statistically significant differences in the PDGF-BB, TGF-β1, IGF-1, and FGF-1 concentrations between the analyzed groups. The highest concentration of PDGF-BB was observed in the samples placed in RMF for 1 h at 25 Hz. For TGF-β1, the highest concentrations were obtained in the samples exposed to RMF for 3 h at 25 Hz and 1 h at 50 Hz. The highest concentrations of IGF-1 and FGF-1 were shown in plasma placed in RMF for 3 h at 25 Hz. An RMF may increase the regenerative potential of platelets. The challenges associated with activating ferroptosis for cancer therapy primarily arise from obstacles related to redox and iron homeostasis, which hinder the susceptibility of tumor cells to ferroptosis. However, the specific mechanisms of ferroptosis resistance, especially those intertwined with abnormal metabolic processes within tumor cells, have been consistently underestimated. In response, we present an innovative glutathione-responsive magnetocaloric therapy nanodrug termed LFMP. LFMP consists of lonidamine (LND) loaded into PEG-modified magnetic nanoparticles with a Fe3O4 core and coated with disulfide bonds-bridged mesoporous silica shells. This nanodrug is designed to induce an accelerated ferroptosis-activating state in tumor cells by disrupting homeostasis. Under the dual effects of alternating magnetic fields and high concentrations of glutathione in the tumor microenvironment, LFMP undergoes disintegration, releasing drugs. LND intervenes in cell metabolism by inhibiting glycolysis, ultimately enhancing iron death and leading to synthetic glutathione consumption. The disulfide bonds play a pivotal role in disrupting intracellular redox homeostasis by depleting glutathione and inactivating glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), synergizing with LND to enhance the sensitivity of tumor cells to ferroptosis. This process intensifies oxidative stress, further impairing redox homeostasis. Furthermore, LFMP exacerbates mitochondrial dysfunction, triggering ROS formation and lactate buildup in cancer cells, resulting in increased acidity and subsequent tumor cell death. Importantly, LFMP significantly suppresses tumor cell proliferation with minimal side effects both in vitro and in vivo, exhibiting satisfactory T2-weighted MR imaging properties. Background: The world's first clinical 0.5 T inline rotating biplanar Linac‐MR system is commissioned for clinical use. For reference dosimetry, unique features to device, including an SAD = 120 cm, bore clearance of 60 cm × 110 cm, as well as 0.5 T inline magnetic field, provide some challenges to applying a standard dosimetry protocol (i.e., TG‐51). Purpose: In this work, we propose a simple and practical clinical reference dosimetry protocol for the 0.5T biplanar Linac‐MR and validated its results. Methods: Our dosimetry protocol for this system is as follows: tissue phantom ratios at 20 and 10 cm are first measured and converted into %dd10x beam quality specifier using equations provided and Kalach and Rogers. The converted %dd10x is used to determine the ion chamber correction factor, using the equations in the TG‐51 addendum for the Exradin A12 farmer chamber used, which is cross‐calibrated with one calibrated at a standards laboratory. For a 0.5 T parallel field, magnetic field effect on chamber response is assumed to have no effect and is not explicitly corrected for. Once the ion chamber correction factor for a non‐standard SAD (kQ,msr) is determined, TG‐51 is performed to obtain dose at a depth of 10 cm at SAD = 120 cm. The dosimetry protocol is repeated with the magnetic field ramped down. To validate our dosimetry protocol, Monte Carlo (EGSnrc) simulations are performed to confirm the determined kQ,msr values. MC Simulations and magnetic Field On versus Field Off measurements are performed to confirm that the magnetic field has no effect. To validate our overall dosimetry protocol, external dose audits, based on optical simulated luminescent dosimeters, thermal luminescent dosimeters, and alanine dosimeters are performed on the 0.5 T Linac‐MR system. Results: Our EGSnrc results confirm our protocol‐determined kQ,msr values, as well as our assumptions about magnetic field effects (kB = 1) within statistical uncertainty for the A‐12 chamber. Our external dosimetry procedures also validated our overall dosimetry protocol for the 0.5 T biplanar Linac‐MR hybrid. Ramping down the magnetic field has resulted in a dosimetric difference of 0.1%, well within experimental uncertainty. Conclusion: With the 0.5 T parallel magnetic field having minimal effect on the ion chamber response, a TPR20,10 approach to determine beam quality provides an accurate method to perform clinical dosimetry for the 0.5 T biplanar Linac‐MR. Background: The static magnetic field present in magnetic resonance (MR)‐guided radiotherapy systems can influence dose deposition and charged particle collection in air‐filled ionization chambers. Thus, accurately quantifying the effect of the magnetic field on ionization chamber response is critical for output calibration. Formalisms for reference dosimetry in a magnetic field have been proposed, whereby a magnetic field quality conversion factor kB,Q is defined to account for the combined effects of the magnetic field on the radiation detector. Determination of kB,Q in the literature has focused on Monte Carlo simulation studies, with experimental validation limited to only a few ionization chamber models. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to experimentally measure kB,Q for 11 ionization chamber models in two commercially available MR‐guided radiotherapy systems: Elekta Unity and ViewRay MRIdian. Methods: Eleven ionization chamber models were characterized in this study: Exradin A12, A12S, A28, and A26, PTW T31010, T31021, and T31022, and IBA FC23‐C, CC25, CC13, and CC08. The experimental method to measure kB,Q utilized cross‐calibration against a reference Exradin A1SL chamber. Absorbed dose to water was measured for the reference A1SL chamber positioned parallel to the magnetic field with its centroid placed at the machine isocenter at a depth of 10 cm in water for a 10 × 10 cm2 field size at that depth. Output was subsequently measured with the test chamber at the same point of measurement. kB,Q for the test chamber was computed as the ratio of reference dose to test chamber output, with this procedure repeated for each chamber in each MR‐guided radiotherapy system. For the high‐field 1.5 T Elekta Unity system, the dependence of kB,Q on the chamber orientation relative to the magnetic field was quantified by rotating the chamber about the machine isocenter. Results: Measured kB,Q values for our test dataset of ionization chamber models ranged from 0.991 to 1.002, and 0.995 to 1.004 for the Elekta Unity and ViewRay MRIdian, respectively, with kB,Q tending to increase as the chamber sensitive volume increased. Measured kB,Q values largely agreed within uncertainty to published Monte Carlo simulation data and available experimental data. kB,Q deviation from unity was minimized for ionization chamber orientation parallel or antiparallel to the magnetic field, with increased deviations observed at perpendicular orientations. Overall (k = 1) uncertainty in the experimental determination of the magnetic field quality conversion factor, kB,Q was 0.71% and 0.72% for the Elekta Unity and ViewRay MRIdian systems, respectively. Conclusions: For a high‐field MR‐linac, the characterization of ionization chamber performance as angular orientation varied relative to the magnetic field confirmed that the ideal orientation for output calibration is parallel. For most of these chamber models, this study represents the first experimental characterization of chamber performance in clinical MR‐linac beams. This is a critical step toward accurate output calibration for MR‐guided radiotherapy systems and the measured kB,Q values will be an important reference data source for forthcoming MR‐linac reference dosimetry protocols. Bias flow of molten metal in slab mold caused by unstable flow from submerged entry nozzle can deteriorate the slab quality during continuous casting. In this study, a novel electromagnetic swirling flow in nozzle (EMSFN) technique, which utilizes electromagnetic force to stabilize the flow in the nozzle and subsequently control the flow in the mold, is proposed. The mechanism for controlling unstable flow through EMSFN is explored through numerical simulation and water model experiments. In the results, it is shown that the molten steel is rotated under the effect of magnetic field and flows into the mold along the upper edge of the nozzle outlet, which weakens the impact of molten steel on the bottom of nozzle and stabilizes the outflow from nozzle. The flow field is consistently symmetrical on both sides of the nozzle. The impact depth of molten steel flowing down along the narrow sides of the mold on both sides is greatly reduced. The surface velocity on both sides of the nozzle changes uniformly. The range of surface velocity variation with EMSFN is only 10% of that with a conventional nozzle. Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence drives the central engine of post-merger remnants, potentially powering both a nucleosynthetically active disk wind and the relativistic jet behind a short gamma-ray burst. We explore the impact of the magnetic field on this engine by simulating three post-merger black hole accretion disks using general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics with Monte Carlo neutrino transport, in each case varying the initial magnetic field strength. We find increasing ejecta masses associated with increasing magnetic field strength. We find that a fairly robust main r -process pattern is produced in all three cases, scaled by the ejected mass. Changing the initial magnetic field strength has a considerable effect on the geometry of the outflow and hints at complex central engine dynamics influencing lanthanide outflows. We find that actinide production is especially sensitive to magnetic field strength, with the overall actinide mass fraction calculated at 1 Gyr post-merger increasing by more than a factor of 6 with a tenfold increase in magnetic field strength. This hints at a possible connection to the variability in actinide enhancements exhibited by metal-poor, r -process-enhanced stars. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Despite extensive studies of phenological shifts in migration by climate change and driving factors of migration, a few issues remain unresolved. In particular, little is known about the complex effects of driving factors on migration with interactions and nonlinearity, and partitioning of the effects of factors into spatial, temporal, and spatio‐temporal effects. Here, we aim to elucidate migration pattern as well as its driving factors under climate change. Location: Western North Pacific. Taxon: North Pacific spiny dogfish Squalus suckleyi. Methods: We first examined long‐term changes in the timing and geographic location of migration by applying the Barrier model, a spatio‐temporal model, to c. 5‐decade time series data (1972–2019) for the presence/absence of spiny dogfish in the western North Pacific. We then evaluated the spatial, temporal and spatio‐temporal effects of driving factors (fish productivity, sea surface temperature [SST], depth and magnetic field) on seasonal occurrence patterns using a machine learning model and an interpretable machine learning technique. Results: The migration area did not change over c. 5‐decades, whereas the migration timing advanced by a month after 2000. The spatial effects of magnetic field and depth were consistently large and the spatial and spatio‐temporal effects of SST increased in the migration season, even though the temporal effect of SST was consistently weak. Main Conclusions: The migration area of spiny dogfish was stable over time because of the effect of magnetic field and a strong preference for submarine topography, whereas the migration timing advanced as a result of tracking a suitable location based on SST, which increased sharply after 2000. Therefore, temperature and other factors simultaneously influence migration under climate change, highlighting the importance of considering both biotic and abiotic factors and understanding the underlying processes in predicting future impacts of climate change on species distribution. The study investigates ion flux variations for the substorms in the inner magnetosphere. The effect of substorm-induced magnetic field dipolarization on the O+ and H+ ion flux is analysed for 22 events from the year 2018 using the Helium, Oxygen, Proton, and Electron (HOPE) Mass Spectrometer data on board the Van Allen Probes (VAP/RBSP) satellite. The clear dipolarization signatures are observed using the Electric and Magnetic Field Instrument Suite and Integrated Science (EMFISIS) suite from the VAP. These observations provide evidence of the ion flux enhancement at 1–50 keV energy after the substorm onset, in particular, the energy range of 20–50 shows dominance. The typical characteristics of magnetic field dipolarization and its time scales are investigated. It is found that the O+ ion flux enhances greater in magnitude than H+ ion flux at energies 20–50 keV after the substorm onset. In addition to it, the correlation of these enhanced oxygen fluxes with the related interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) B z , solar wind velocity (V sw), and the auroral electrojet (AE) index are found good. The new results reports that the ion flux variation ratio shows the MLT dependence for different energy ranges and found that the peak of the O+/ H+ ion flux ratio centred near midnight for the energy range of 8–20 keV, whereas the O+/ H+ ion flux ratio of the energy 20–50 keV is high within the post-midnight. The impact of hyper-resistivity on non-ideal ballooning modes (BMs) is studied in the presence of resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) through considering the hyper-resistivity, resistivity and diamagnetic effect in the BM model with an equilibrium distorted by RMP, which is stable for ideal BMs. Similar to the resistivity, the hyper-resistivity is also destabilizing for the BMs, but RMPs make the mode spectrum of the BMs destabilized by the hyper-resistivity move towards the low toroidal mode number side on the flux surface with a safety factor slightly larger than the RMP resonance safety factor, where the growth rates of the BMs destabilized by the resistivity decrease due to RMP. When both the hyper-resistivity and the resistivity are considered, there is a sort of competitive relationship between them in determining the properties of BMs. If either of the hyper-resistivity term and the resistivity term is much larger than the other one, the instability of BMs is mainly determined by the larger one, and the effect of the smaller one is masked. The destabilizing mechanisms of the hyper-resistivity and the resistivity on BMs are similar, namely, the diffusion and dissipation of current and magnetic field weaken the stabilizing effect of magnetic field line bending. The research results may be important for understanding the enhancement of plasma transport and the mechanism of small edge localized mode (ELM) during ELM control with RMP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
