Abstract

The EAS Cherenkov light array Tunka-133, with $\sim$ 3 km$^2$ geometric area, is taking data since 2009.The array permits a detailed study of energy spectrum and mass composition of cosmic rays in the energy range from $6\cdot 10^{15}$ to $10^{18}$ eV. We describe the methods of time and amplitude calibration of the array and the methods of EAS parameters reconstruction. Abstract

This article contains the study of correlation between the microstructure, mechanical properties and mechanisms of elastoplastic deformation of Ni-Fe coatings that were grown in five electrodeposition modes and had fundamentally different microstructures. A nonlinear change in hardness was detected using nanoindentation. Explanation of the abnormal change in hardness was found in the nature of the relaxation method of elastoplastic energy under load. It is shown that the deformation of coatings with a grain size of 100 nm or more occurs due to dislocation slip. A decrease in grain size leads to the predominance of deformation due to rotations and sliding of grains, as well as surface and grain boundary diffusion. The effect of deformation mechanisms on the nanoscale hardness of Ni-Fe coatings was established. Full hardening of the coatings (both in the bulk and on the surface) was achieved while maintaining the balance of three mechanisms of elastoplastic deformation in the sample. Unique coatings consisting of two fractions of grains (70% of nano-grains and 30% of their agglomerates) demonstrate high crack resistance and full-depth hardening up to H = 7.4 GPa due to the release of deformation energy for amorphization and agglomeration of nanograins.

Observed significant increase of migration properties of uranium from groundwater happens when pH rises above 9 - 10 against significant increases in the concentrations of major ions: Na+, K+, СО32-, NO2-, NO3-. Herewith, strongly alkaline reducing or transitional environment in groundwater is formed.

Abstract

EUSO-Balloon is a pathfinder mission for the Extreme Universe Space Observatory onboard the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM-EUSO). It was launched on the moonless night of the 25th of August 2014 from Timmins, Canada. The flight ended successfully after maintaining the target altitude of 38 km for five hours. One part of the mission was a 2.5 hour underflight using a helicopter equipped with three UV light sources (LED, xenon flasher and laser) to perform an inflight calibration and examine the detectors capability to measure tracks moving at the speed of light. We describe the helicopter laser system and details of the underflight as well as how the laser tracks were recorded and found in the data. These are the first recorded laser tracks measured from a fluorescence detector looking down on the atmosphere. Abstract

The EAS Cherenkov light array Tunka-133, with ~3 km2 geometric area, is taking data since 2009. The array permits a detailed study of cosmic ray energy spectrum and mass composition in the PeV energy range. After a short description of the methods of EAS parameter reconstruction, we present the all-particle energy spectrum and results of studying CR composition, based on 3 seasons of array operation. Abstract

The EAS Cherenkov array Tunka-133, with about 3 km 2 sensitive area, has been installed in the Tunka Valley, Siberia. The accessible energy range is 10 15 –10 18 eV. In this contribution, a description of the array and main results obtained so far are presented. A current update of the array includes the deployment of scintillation stations, radio antennas, as well as optical stations. The deployments of these optical stations are the first step towards Tunka-HiSCORE, a wide-angle, large field-of-view gamma-ray telescope.

Abstract

The new array Tunka-133 started data taking at the end of 2009. The apparatus records the Cherenkov light pulse waveform of extensive air showers (EAS). It consists of 133 optical detectors deployed over an area of about 1 km 2 . About two million events have been collected during 286 hours of clean moonless nights in winter 2009-2010. Using these data, we present methods of primary cosmic particle parameter reconstruction for EAS with the core both inside and outside the array and give preliminary results.

Abstract

The deployment of the new Extensive air shower Cherenkov installation Tunka-133 with about 1 km 2 geometric acceptance area was completed in October 2009. The array will permit a detailed long-term study of the cosmic ray energy spectrum and mass composition in the energy range 10 15 –10 18 eV with a unique and more elaborate method. The array construction and data acquisition system, preliminary results and plans for future development are presented.

Abstract

The final analysis of the Extensive Air Shower (EAS) maximum ( X m a x ) depth distribution derived from the data of Tunka-25 atmospheric Cherenkov light array in the energy range 3 ⋅ 10 15 – 3 ⋅ 10 16 eV is presented. The perspectives of X m a x studies with the new Cherenkov light array Tunka-133 of 1 km 2 area, extending the measurements up to 10 18 eV, are discussed.

Abstract

The investigation of energy spectrum and mass composition of primary cosmic rays in the energy range 10(16)–10(18) eV and the search for diffuse cosmic gamma rays are of the great interest for understanding mechanisms and nature of high-energy particle sources, the problem of great importance in modern astrophysics. Tunka-Grande scintillator array is a part of the experimental complex TAIGA (Tunka Advanced Instrument for Cosmic Ray and Gamma Astronomy) which is located in the Tunka Valley, about 50 km from Lake Baikal. The purpose of this array is the study of diffuse gamma rays and cosmic rays of ultra-high energies by detecting extensive air showers. We describe the design, specifications of the read-out, data acquisition (DAQ) and control systems of the array.
