Aortopulmonary window (APW) itself is a rare congenital cardiac malformation and its association with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) makes it more uncommon. We report a case of APW with TOF who presented at 4-year 10 months of age. As the boy was still in operable state, after thorough preoperative evaluation successful surgical repair was done.

Bangladesh produces a large amount of corn, pumpkin and carrots every year. To meet its huge energy demand and to lessen dependence on traditional fossil fuel these products are cost effective, renewable and abundant source for bioethanol production. The research was aimed to evaluate Bangladeshi corn, rotten carrot and pumpkin for bioethanol production. About 100 g of substrates was mixed with 300 ml distilled water and blended and sterilized. All the experiment was conducted with a temperature of 35oC, pH 6.0 and 20% sugar concentration. For fermentation, 200 ml yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CCD) was added to make the total volume 500 ml. Addition of small amount of 1750 unit α-amylase enzyme to the substrate solution was found to enhance the fermentation process quicker. After 6- days of incubation, corn produced 63.00 ml of ethanol with 13.33 % (v/v) purity. Bioethanol production capacity of two different local varieties of pumpkin (red and black color) was assessed. Red pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima L.) produces 53 ml of ethanol with purity 6 %v/v and black color pumpkin produces 40 ml of yield with a low purity 4 %v/v. Carrot (Daucus carota L.) produces 73.67 ml of ethanol with 12.66 % (v/v) purity.

The present investigation was conducted to analyze the activity of enzymes (protease, αamylase, cellulase and urease) of selected salad vegetables (white radish, red radish, beet, carrot, papaya, cucumber and tomato) as well as to determine the effect of chemical agents and metallic salts on the stability of enzymes. Salad vegetables are one of the cheap sources of adequate vitamins, minerals and enzymes. The protease, α-amylase and cellulase activity were highest in papaya (4.11±0.21 U/g, 1.68±0.21 U/g and 0.26±0.13 U/ g) whereas the urease activity was not detected in papaya, cucumber and tomato. The protease, α-amylase and cellulase activity of papaya were increased 24.83%, 42.26% and 57.69% than cucumber while the cellulase activity of carrot was increased 44.45% than tomato. The activity of protease and α-amylase of beet were decreased 52.44%, 33.63% while the cellulase activity of beet was increased 36.36% from radish. The toxicity indicating urease enzyme activity was not detected in papaya, tomato and cucumber but negligible in radish, beet and carrot which can be nullified. The activities of enzymes were increased in the presence of metallic salts such as Ca2+, Mg2+ and Mn2+ while Fe2+, Zn2+ and Cu2+ inhibited the enzyme's activity moderately. Results revealed that in the presence of higher concentrations of urea, EDTA and acetic acid, the activities of all the enzymes were completely inhibited.

The main objective of the current study was to enhance the solubility and dissolution of poorly water soluble drug Loratadine (LOR) through formulation of solid dispersion systems (SDs) using hydrophilic polymers. SDs were prepared by kneading method using different drug-to-polymer ratios (1:3 and 1:5) with poloxomer 188 (samples DS1, DS2) and poloxomer 407 (samples DS3, DS4) as hydrophilic polymers. In vitro drug release studies were performed on prepared SDs (DS1-DS4) and compared to pure drug (LOR only, sample DS0). Prepared SDs showed significant improvement in the release profile compared to LOR.

The aim of the work was a comparative study of oil characteristics and nutritional composition of seeds of two local varieties of ridge gourd collected from different districts of Bangladesh: Prince ridge gourd (PRG) and Hercules ridge gourd (HRG). Most of the physicochemical characteristics reported herein, of the seed oils of both varieties were significantly (p < 0.05) affected by sampling locations. Acylglycerol classes were estimated to be monoacylglycerols (1.6-1.9% in PRG and 1.4-1.6% in HRG), diacylglycerols (4.0-4.6% in PRG and 2.6-3.0% in HRG) and triacylglycerols (84.6-86.7% in PRG and 86.7-88.3% in HRG) whereas lipid classes to be neutral lipids (92.5-94.2% in PRG and 91.7-94.9% in HRG), glycolipids (2.8-3.2% in PRG and 2.5-3.9% in HRG) and phospholipids (1.9-2.4% in PRG and 1.2-2.6% in HRG). Glyceride and lipid compositions of PRG seed oil did not show any significant difference (p < 0.05) between the two samples of Rajshahi and Dinajpur districts. HRG samples had similar values for diacylglycerol contents. GLC analysis showed the presence of only four fatty acids from series C16:0 to C18:2. Linoleic acid was the major ranging from 49.5% to 51.0% in PRG and 48.6% to 49.2% in HRG. Both varieties contained considerable amounts of lipid (26.8-28.2% in PRG and 23.2-25.4% in HRG), protein (20.8-23.1% in PRG and 25.9-26.8% in HRG) and other essential nutrients. Most of the nutrient contents in PRG samples differed significantly (p < 0.05) than those found in HRG samples. Nutrient information reported herein illustrates the benefits to public health for those, who consume this plant fruit.

2 Abstract: The study was conducted at dairy and cattle improvement farm, Hathazari, Chittagong for a period of one year. A total of 82 dairy cows were selected during the period from June 03-July 04 and their information regarding milk production upto 180 days, productive and other reproductive parameters were recorded from farm record book. Average milk production (459.09±138.09 liter), calving interval (634.59±223.92 days), age at puberty (1205.02±313.80 days), service per conception (1.88±1.09), gestation length (273.08±7.48 days) and birth weight of fetuses (18.78±34 kg) were observed. The minimum and maximum value of these results was also observed. The highest milk production (487.54±109.73 liter) was found in the cows with parity number 4-8 and the second highest (456.84±169.58 liter) was found with the parity number 2 and the lowest milk production (445.79±86.64 liter) was found with the parity number 3. The average production of milk was observed (473.44±134.15 liter) in the cows required interval between 370- 590 days and 444.74±142.11 liter found in the cows required 591-1365 days. When the range of age at puberty was 1186-2270 days and 665-1185 days the average production of milk was 468.56±161.92 liter and 450.50±113.56 liter was observed, respectively. Comparatively more milk production was found (461.52±151.89 liter) in cows required less number of services per conception was 1-2 than the cows required more number of services per conception was 3-6 and their milk production was 452.84±96.60 liter. There was no any significance difference of production of milk among the different variables.

s: Three types of rasogolla were prepared from cow milk chhana and buffalo milk chhana named as A (100% cow milk chhana). B (100% buffalo milk chhana) and C (50% cow + 50% buffalo milk chhana). Quality of those was evaluated by physical and chemical tests. Rasogolla made from cow milk chhana gained the highest organoleptic score. In addition the addition of 50% buffalo milk chhana with 50% Cow milk chhana Produced rasogolla nearly similar to A type rasogolla.

1 Abstract: This study was undertaken to find out the milk fat production trend both in qualitative and quantitative aspect and seasonal effect on it at Sree-Nagor Milk Shed Area (MSA) under Milk Vita in Munshigonj, Bangladesh.
