PurposeLeader credibility is often discussed in literature. Although the literature discusses many facts related to building leader credibility, organized and structured knowledge of how leaders build leader credibility is missing. The present study's purpose is to begin closing that gap by drawing concepts from the literature related to building leader credibility, categorizing them into relevant constructs and building a model. The present study provides a foundation, built from items drawn from peer-reviewed literature, for future research on how leaders build credibility.Design/methodology/approachThe authors reviewed 66 articles discussing or exploring building leader credibility. From those articles, they drew potential leader credibility antecedents. They analyzed the antecedents, seeking to group them into understandable constructs that provide a building leader credibility model. Seeking nomological validity (evidence that our building leader credibility constructs reflect real-world thinking), they conducted an open-ended survey to compare what practitioners say builds leader credibility to our model.FindingsThe leader credibility antecedents the authors drew from the literature fell into two dimensions: competence and character. The competence antecedents fell into three subdivisions: interpersonal competence, technical competence and leader competence. The character antecedents fell into two subdivisions: character behaviors and character attributes. Responses from our open-ended survey fit our five subdimensions for building leader credibility, providing some nomological validity for our model.Practical implicationsThe authors’ model may help practitioners see the big picture of building leader credibility, develop specific tactics for building leader credibility and provide a basis for assessing their building leader credibility approach.Originality/valueAlthough leader credibility is vastly researched and leader credibility antecedents are discussed or explored, a big-picture model of building leader credibility is lacking. This study pursues a path previously not taken, developing a credibility-building model drawn from concepts presented in the literature.

Introduction Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been demonstrated to be reasonably prevalent among young men (≤40 yr). Objective We aimed to i) assess changes in patterns of reported ED in men ≤ 40 yr, and ii) compare the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of ED men ≤ 40 yr vs. > 40 yr of age over a 8-yr period at a single academic centre. Methods Comprehensive data of 1179 patients seeking first medical help for ED and assessed by a single Sexual Medicine expert between 2013 and 2021 were analysed. Health-significant comorbidities were scored using the Charlson comorbidity index. All patients completed the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) at baseline. Descriptive statistics tested the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of ED men ≤ 40 yr vs. > 40 yr of age. Within the two groups, multivariable linear regression models tested the association between advancing age and IIEF scores. Local polynomial regression models were applied to explore and graphically display ≤ 40 yr patients’ likelihood to report ED over the analysed time frame and to display changes of the IIEF-EF scores over increasing age between the two groups (≤ 40 yr vs. > 40 yr). Results Overall, median (IQR) age was 52 (41-62) yr. Median (IQR) IIEF-EF was 18 (15-22) at baseline. Of all, 268 (22.7%) were ≤ 40 yr whereas 911 (77.3%) were > 40 yr at baseline. Rates of severe ED according to IIEF-EF did not differ between men ≤ 40 yr and >40yr (60 (22.4%) vs. 155 (17%)). No significant differences were found for the IIEF domains (-IS, -OS, -SD) but IIEF-OF domains, which scored higher in younger men (9 () vs. 8 (), p=0.002). At baseline, younger patients reported less comorbidities, less active smoking, lower BMI, higher total testosterone (tT) levels than older patients (all p 40 yr, increasing age was linearly correlated with decreasing IIE-EF (all p 40 yr). Conclusions We observed that one out of five men seeking first medical help for ED at a single academic centre were younger than 40 yr. This trend has remained stable over the last 8-years, but slightly lower than the previous decade. Increasing age among younger patients is not associated with worse erectile function as oppositely occurs among patients > 40 yr. Disclosure No

Introduction The Masturbation Erection Index (MEI) has been recently validated in the setting of the investigation of men presenting with erectile dysfunction (ED). Objective We sought to analyze the correlation between MEI and the findings of the widely used International Index for Erectile Function (IIEF) in a cross-sectional study in men seeking medical help for ED. Methods Data from the last 87 consecutive men presenting for ED at a tertiary referral centre were analyzed. All patients were asked to complete both IIEF and MEI at the same time. Complete sociodemographic and clinical data were collected. ED severity was defined according to Cappelleri’s criteria. Linear regression model tested the association between MEI, IIEF total and IIEF domains scores. Violin plot was used to display distribution of MEI scores into IIEF-EF categories. Loess curve was applied to investigate the probability of MEI to predict ED as a function of age. Results Median (interquartile range [IQR]) age at presentation was 44 (3.5-53.5) years. According to IIEF-EF scores, ED severity was: no ED in 9 (10%), mild ED in 14 (16%), mild-to-moderate ED in 19 (22%), moderate ED 12 (14%) and severe ED in 33 (38%) patients, respectively. The more severe the ED, the higher the MEI scores (Figure 1); indeed, median MEI scored 7 (3-8) in men with no ED and 19 (10-26) in men with severe ED (p Conclusions As expected, there is a strong association between IIEF and MEI scores, which does not lower with aging. Of all, one out of 5 patients presented with lower overall and intercourse satisfaction notwithstanding high MEI scores, thus outlining the clinical relevance of both investigations in the real-life setting. Introduction The ASCVD (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease) risk score is a validated and standardised algorithm predicting the individual 10-year risk of developing acute cardiovascular events (CVs). Patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) are at greater risk of CVs; Objective we aimed to i) apply the ASCVD score at a homogenous cohort of men undergoing dynamic penile color doppler duplex ultrasound (CDDU) for ED, and ii) explore its predictive ability to identify patients with arteriogenic and venogenic ED at CDDU. Methods Complete data of 188 consecutive patients undergoing CDDU for ED were analysed. Health-significant comorbidities were scored using the Charlson comorbidity index. All patients completed the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) at baseline. Serum hormones (total testosterone (tT) and luteinising hormone (LH)) were dosed for every patient. The ASCVD score was applied to the entire cohort. According to the ASCVD, patients were segregated into low (≤7.5%) vs. intermediate/high risk (> 7.5%). Descriptive statistics was used to explore differences between the two groups. Logistic regression models tested the potential predictive role of ASCVD scores to predict pathological CDDU parameters (peak systolic velocity (PSV) < 35 cm/s and/or resistance index (RI) ≤ 0.70). Local polynomial smoothing models graphically displayed the probability of pathological CDDU parameters at different ASCVD scores. Results Overall, median (IQR) age was 54 (43-60) yr. Of all, 52 (27.7%) patients reported severe ED, as for IIEF-EF ≤ 11. Overall, 80 (42.6%) showed a pure arteriogenic ED and 15 (8%) pure venogenic ED at CDDU. Intermediate/high-risk patients (52.7%) were found to have lower IIEF-EF scores, higher BMI, higher CCI and presented with a greater rate of PDE5i non-responders compared to those with low-risk (47.3%) according to ASCVD (all p Conclusions The ASCVD risk score can be used as a valuable tool to identify patients with arteriogenic ED at CDDU in real-life settings. Since vasculogenic ED may anticipate CVs even by some years, the accurate identification of patients with deficient cavernosal arterial flow would certainly allow earlier and more effective cardiovascular prevention in this subset of patients. Introduction Patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) may have an increased risk to report concomitant premature ejaculation (PE) Objective We aimed to explore the trend of reporting PE across three different age groups of a homogenous cohort of men seeking first medical help for ED (< 40 yr, 40-60 yr, > 70yr) over a 16-year period at a single tertiary academic centre. Methods Complete data of 1258 men consecutively assessed for ED as primary complaint by a single Sexual Medicine expert between 2005 and 2021 were analysed. Patients were divided into three age categories: i) Results Overall, median (IQR) age was 51 (40-61) years. Of all, 326 (25.9%) reported either life-long or acquired PE at time of first clinical assessment. Among the three age groups (70) there were no significant differences in terms of baseline IIEF domains. Younger patients reported higher rates of PE in respect to older ones (0.5% vs. 0.4% vs. 0.3%, p=0.001). Fusarium head blight (FHB) and stem rust (SR) threaten the sustainability of wheat production worldwide. Fhb1 and Sr2 confer partial durable resistance to FHB and SR, respectively. Despite resistant alleles of both genes are linked in repulsion, lines with Fhb1-Sr2 in coupling were developed at the University of Minnesota, USA. Marker-assisted backcrossing was used to incorporate the coupled Fhb1-Sr2 into four elite INIA-Uruguay spring wheat varieties lacking both genes and expressing different levels of FHB and SR resistance. In each case, the initial cross between the donor line and recurrent parent was backcrossed three times. Genotypes carrying Fhb1-Sr2 were selected using the molecular marker UMN10. In BC3F3 families, retention of Fhb1-Sr2 was further confirmed with the markers SNP3BS-8 and Sr2-ger9 for Fhb1 and Sr2, respectively. BC3F3 homozygous lines contrasting at UMN10, SNP3BS-8 and Sr2-ger9 were obtained to quantify the effect of Fhb1-Sr2 on the resistance to FHB under controlled conditions and to SR under field conditions. After 26 months period, successful introgression of Fhb1-Sr2 into the four cultivars was achieved, representing novel wheat genetic resources. Lines homozygous for the resistant alleles of Fhb1 were significantly more resistant to FHB as reflected by an 18% reduction of average FHB area under the disease progress curve. A significant effect of Sr2 on SR field resistance was observed in lines derived from the most susceptible cultivar ‘Génesis 2375’. The most resistant lines to both diseases are expected to be valuable genetic resources in breeding for durable resistance to FHB and SR.

A systematic literature review provides a comprehensive overview of literature related to a research question and synthesizes previous work to strengthen a particular topic’s foundation of knowledge, while adhering to the concepts of transparency and bias reduction. In the growing, complex, and dynamic, management research field, systematic literature reviews have value, yet there is relatively little work published describing how management researchers might apply this approach. In explaining the purpose of systematic reviews, we define a systematic review and describe its rationale. We then discuss how systematic literature reviews may enhance management research and address current management research shortcomings. We present a detailed systematic literature review execution guideline, outlining systematic literature review steps, and providing keys to effective implementation.

La reciente regulación peruana busca cambiar el régimen de ejecución provisional de sentencias. Sin embargo, su incomprensión como técnica anticipatoria genera problemas y contradicciones en su regulación. En algunos casos, el legislador obliga a que se mantenga la ejecución provisional a pesar de la revocación de la sentencia, y en otros casos, obliga a levantarla siempre que se revoque la sentencia, incluso cuando eso se debe a motivos que no afectan la fuerte probabilidad del derecho. Solo su comprensión como técnica anticipatoria permitirá una lectura coherente del instituto.

A systematic literature review is designed to synthesize meaningful knowledge from a large number of studies on a research topic. Over the past decade, management researchers have begun to adopt this review methodology with a goal of providing a comprehensive understanding of a business literature topic. This methodology can provide a context for existing literature, guide future research, and by translating theoretical observations into useable real-world principles, help business leaders make better decisions. A systematic literature review serves a different purpose than a traditional literature review, providing a more organized and complete exploration of research literature. However, systematic literature review is new to many management researchers. To aid in the understanding of this methodology, the editors of Management Review Quarterly, Fisch and Block (Mange Rev Q 68:103–106,2018), present six tips for conducting a systematic literature review. In this paper, we will examine their six tips, which we applied in a recent systematic literature review of leader credibility. By sharing our thoughts on the application of their tips, we hope to bolster the rigor and consistency of future systematic reviews of management literature. In addition to Fisch and Block’s six tips, based on our experiences, we offer three additional tips that became evident in our work to aid in future systematic literature reviews.

Introduction Peyronie's disease is a benign condition involving the tunica albuginea of the corpora cavernosa of the penis. Objectives To investigate whether patients’ age has an impact in terms of Peyronie's disease (PD) clinical characteristics at presentation. Methods Data from a group of 110 consecutive patients aged >18 and 45 years) patients at presentation. Linear and logistic regression analyses tested the association between age and PDQ subscales (Pain, Bother and Symptoms) or IIEF-erectile function domain scores (IIEF-EF ≤26), after adjusting for Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), Body Mass Index (BMI), duration of PD (as self-reported by the patient) and smoking habit. LOWESS curve was used to graphically investigate the association between age and PDQ pain score. Results Of 110, 28 (25%) patients were ≤45 years old. Young patients had lower BMI [median (IQR) 24.3 (22.5-25.6) vs. 25.2 (23.7-27.8); p=0.01] and CCI [CCI≥1 in 1 patient (3.6%) vs. 23 (28%); p=0.014) compared to older patients. No differences were found between groups in terms of severity of the penile curvature, PD duration and plaque size. PDQ pain score was 6 (2.8-12.8) for young and 3 (0-8) for older patients (p=0.03). No differences were found in terms of PDQ-symptoms and bother scores, and for IIEF domain scores. At regression analysis, younger age was associated with significant higher PDQ-pain scores at presentation (Coeff 4.45; 95%CI 1.06:7.84; p=0.011). No further associations were observed between age and the other questionnaires. The figure depicts the higher PDQ-pain scores in young compared to older age. Conclusion Younger PD patients are at higher risk of complaining penile pain at presentation. No difference in terms of symptoms, PD-associated bother, erectile function and other clinical and morphometric characteristics were found between younger and older patients at first assessment. Introduction Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined according to three different aetiological groups: organic, psychogenic and mixed. As most cases have mixed aetiology, EAU guidelines suggests using the terms "primary organic" or "primary psychogenic". Objectives We aimed to stratify a homogenous cohort of patients seeking medical help for ED for the first time according to the newly suggested classification, and to compare sexual function in the two groups. Methods Complete sociodemographic and clinical data from 2009 consecutive patients were analysed. All patients completed the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) at baseline. According to the presence of risk factors for ED (e.g., age≥ 40 yr, obesity, history of hypogonadism, hypertriglyceridemia and/or hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, cardio-vascular, peripheral vascular, neurological, chronic kidney and hepatic disease, diabetes type 1/2, COPD, hyperthyroidism, low D vitamin, use of recreational drugs, thiazides, b-blockers, antipsychotics, SSRIs and depression or anxiety under medical therapy), patients were categorised into primary organic (≥1 risk factor) or primary psychogenic (0 risk factors) ED. Linear regression analysis assessed the association between the number of risk factors and IIEF severity. Lastly, locally scatterplot smoothing (LOESS) method graphically explored the relationship between number of risk factors and IIEF. Results 1836 (91.4%) were identified with primary organic ED whereas 173 (8.6%) with primary psychogenic ED. Study question Current scientific guidelines do not clearly suggest which patients would benefit the most from a sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) test. Summary answer We aimed to investigate potential predictive factors for altered SDF in a homogenous cohort of white-European men presenting for primary couple’s infertility. What is known already High SDF has been associated with reduced fertilization rates, reduced chances of natural conception and an increased risk of early pregnancy loss. Study design, size, duration Data from 478 consecutive men with normal or altered SDF were analysed. Infertility was defined according to the WHO criteria. Study question We aimed to investigate the association between air pollutants levels and semen parameters in a cohort of white-European men seeking medical attention for couple’s infertility. Summary answer We found that Pm10, Pm 2.5, and NO2 levels were negatively associated with sperm morphology. What is known already Air pollutants levels have been monitored closely for environmental and research issues in industrialized countries. Study design, size, duration Data from 156 infertile men consecutively assessed between 01/2019 and 12/2020 were analysed. Participants/materials, setting, methods Semen analyses were based on 2010 WHO reference criteria. We analysed the annual average level of the main markers of air pollution (Pm10, Pm2.5, and NO2) between 2014–2018 (Legambiente, 2020, Annual dossier series on air quality in Italy) relative to patients’ addresses of the last 5 years. Health-significant comorbidities were scored with the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). Descriptive statistics and linear regression analyses were used to test the association between air pollutants and semen parameters. Main results and the role of chance Overall, median (IQR) age and BMI were 37 (33–41) years and 25.1 (23.4–27.3) kg/m2, respectively. A CCI≥1 was found in 12 (7.7%) men, and 47 (30.1%) participants were smokers. As for sperm parameters, semen volume, sperm concentration, sperm progressive motility and normal sperm morphology were 3 (2–4) ml, 18 (5–45.5) x106/ml, 32 (22–45)% and 2 (1–3)%, respectively. Pm10 was negatively associated with sperm morphology (ß: –0.580, p = 0.001). Furthermore, Pm10 was found to be an independent predictor for sperm morphology worsening (ß: –0.729, p = 0.006) (Fig.1A), after adjusting for age, BMI, CCI and smoking status. Similarly, Pm2.5 levels were negatively associated with sperm morphology (ß: –0.595, p = 0.009) (Fig.1B). After adjusting for the same variables, the association between Pm2 and sperm morphology remained significant (ß: –0.724, p = 0.015) (Fig.1C). NO2 levels were found to be associated with sperm morphology worsening after adjusting for age, BMI, CCI, and smoking status (ß: –0.471, p = 0.006). Limitations, reasons for caution It is a retrospective analysis at a single, tertiary-referral academic centre, thus raising the possibility of selection biases. Moreover, markers of air pollutions divided by residence may not completely evaluated the single patient exposure. Wider implications of the findings: In this cross-sectional study we found that Pm10, Pm 2.5, and NO2 levels were negatively associated with sperm morphology, while they were not consistently associated with an increased risk of other abnormal sperm parameters in infertile men. Further studies are needed to characterize air pollution effects on sperm parameters. Trial registration number Not applicable

Introduction The Sexual and Reproductive Health guidelines of the European Association of Urology (EAU) suggest stratifying patients complaining of haemospermia into low versus high-risk categories for treatable aetiologies. Objective To validate EAU guidelines in a homogeneous cohort of men with haemospermia and to identify a novel and better performing risk stratification compared to EAU guidelines. Methods Data from 283 consecutive patients complaining of a single episode/recurrent haemospermia were retrospectively analysed. Patients were stratified into low vs. high-risk according to EAU guidelines, whose diagnostic performance was then validated. We identified a new risk stratification model based on clinical factors associated with i) positive semen culture and ii) prostate cancer (PCa) and bladder cancer (BC). Diagnostic accuracy of the two predictive models (EAU vs. New) was assessed and decision curve analyses (DCA) tested their clinical benefit. Results Overall, 259 (91.5%) were high-risk and 24 (8.5%) low risk according to the EAU guidelines. Recurrent haemospermia was reported by 134 (47.4%) patients. 126 (44.5%) had baseline CCI score ≥ 1. At MVA logistic regression analysis, history of recurrent genito – urinary tract infections was identified as a predictor for positive semen culture (OR: 3.39, 95% CI: 1.77 – 6.57, p=0.002). Likewise, baseline CCI ≥ 1 was identified as a predictor for PCa and BC (OR: 1.55, 95% CI: 1.17 – 2.04, p=0.009). Sensitivity, specificity, and AUC of the EAU guidelines were 13.3%, 89.2% and 51% respectively, whereas the new model performed substantially better: 98.9%, 58% and 78% respectively. Conclusion The application of the EAU risk stratification does not ensure proper identification of high-risk patients complaining of haemospermia. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore credibility, as an alternative to charisma, as an important attribute of transformational and authentic leadership. 10; Design/methodology/approach This is a conceptual paper. From leadership literature, we discuss transformational leadership, authentic leadership, charisma, and credibility. The literature on leadership and credibility is limited, yet we provide relevant examples. Findings The authors conclude that credibility, rather than charisma, provides a more accessible and ethical framework to capture the essence of transformational and authentic leadership. Yet, charisma may enhance leadership. Practical recommendations are provided related to charisma and credibility. Practical implications Practical recommendations are given to help leaders think about charisma differently and consider credibility as a core attribute to embrace in leading others. 10; 10; Originality/value The literature on credibility and leadership is limited, but this topic is frequently discussed in business, politics, religion, media, etc.

The Erice 56 Charter titled "Impact of the environment on the health: from theory to practice" was unanimously approved at the end of the 56th course of the "International School of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine G. D'Alessandro" held from 3th to 7th November 2019 in Erice - Sicily (Italy) and promoted by the Study Group of "Environment and Health" of the Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. The course, that included lectures, open discussions and guided working groups, was aimed to provide a general training on epidemiological and toxicological aspects of the environmental health impact, to be used by public health professionals for risk assessment, without forgetting the risk communications. At the end of the course 12 key points were agreed among teachers and students: they underlined the need of specific training and research, in the perspective of "One Health" and "Global Health", also facing emerging scientific and methodological issues and focusing on communication towards stakeholders. This Discussion highlight the need to improve knowledge of Health and Environment topic in all sectors of health and environmental prevention and management.

Introduction In recent years, Public Health devoted a growing interest to housing conditions. In particular, housing dimensions and functional characteristics are relevant, mainly considering population ageing and disability. Aim of the study is to compare housing standards of some European countries to analyse their ability to satisfy new population needs. Methodology The dwellings dimensional standards of 9 European countries (Sweden, UK, Denmark, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Italy) are compared. From the websites of the official channels of the various countries the regulations have been downloaded. The standards have been compared. Results A wide variability in the dimensions of room among the standards is observed (e.g. single room: from 9 sqm in Italy, to 7 sqm in France, to the absence of any limit in UK, Germany - Hesse and Denmark). Italian and French regulations define housing dimension considering the room use (eg. bed or living room) and the number of people. The Swedish regulation provides performance requirements and functional indications but does not specify the minimum dimensions of habitable rooms. The rooms' minimum height varies between the standards. In Italy and Portugal, the minimum height of the ceiling is intended to be 2.70 m, while in the other nations the minimum heights vary from 2.60 m in the Netherlands to no limit in UK. Conclusions A diverse approach among European Countries is observed: from a market-oriented logic (e.g., UK), in which minimum dimensions are not defined, to a prescriptive one (Italy), to a functionality-oriented (the Netherlands). The regulations of some Countries are health-oriented especially for most fragile social classes, since, defining larger dimensional standard, they reduce the risk of overcrowding, indoor air pollution and mental distress. However, considering the health, social, environmental and economic trends, many of these standards should be revised. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual model describing potential relationships among transformational leadership, charisma, credibility and organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach This paper is conceptual, based on a review of current transformational leadership, charisma and credibility literature. Findings The authors present a model where credibility is an antecedent of transformational leadership; transformational leadership has a positive effect on organizational performance; and charisma positively moderates the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational performance. Research limitations/implications A model to integrate credibility into transformational leadership research is proposed. Practical implications This paper considers credibility as an important attribute of transformational leadership, and thus credibility may have significant implications for practitioners in leadership development strategies. Originality/value Currently, there is a lack of research on the role of credibility in leadership. The authors discuss the importance of measuring leader credibility and generating a credibility scale.

Over the last few decades, several efforts have been made to develop an alternative and sustainable energy source from wind waves. To achieve financial sustainability of this technology, most of the research has focused on analyzing facilities composed of several wave energy converters (WECs) arrays instead of isolated ones. Although the interaction between devices and its implications on the performance of the facilities have been studied previously, these works considered only certain combinations of sea states, limiting the applicability of the results. This work applies a new methodology based on statistical methods to assess the performance of different WEC array distributions during their entire life-cycle in an efficient way, using downscaling techniques and advanced numerical modeling to propagate the wave climate. The results obtained during the hindcasting life-cycle are used to analyze the maintenance and operation capabilities of the different alternatives of arrays defined for the WEC facility. The interactions between devices and their efficiency considering the associated impact are also quantified. The assessment of these efficiencies during the complete life-cycle of the devices is highly valuable tool for promoters and coastal managers to evaluate different WEC array alternatives. The entire process was applied to a hypothetical array location in the Gulf of Cádiz (southwestern Spain), where three different array distributions were defined. The results show that the distance between WECs is a key parameter that controls the potential energy production, the efficiency of the facility and the interactions between several devices.
