Our case report presents a patient with central pontine myelinolysis and arachnoidocele. He was hospitalized twice these 2 last months for a confusional syndrome associated to an alteration of his general health where metabolic disorders where found: a hyponatremia at 125 mmol/l that was quickly corrected and a hypoglycemia at 0.30 g/l. A central pontine myelinolysis was found as an iso-signal on T1-weighted sequences and a hypersignal on T2-weighted and FLAIR sequences on magnetic resonnance imaging. Central pontine myelinolysis lesions did not enhance with contrast. Incidental imaging findings of arachnoidocele was detected. Through this case, we would like to share with the other practitioners these rare images and the consequence of a diagnostic delay. Indeed, hyponatremia in our patient could be the consequence of the intrasellar arachnoidocele and the overly rapid correction of this chronic hyponatremia caused central pontine myelinolysis, or it is an accidental phenomenon where we found both lesions.

- Abstract
This study used an explanatory sequential mixed methods approach to compare student experience and academic performance in an asynchronous online community college course delivered in three formats: accelerated (5-week) cohort, accelerated (5-week) non-cohort, and non-accelerated (16-week) non-cohort. Quantitative results showed no significant difference in final grades, successful course completion, or withdrawals among course formats. No significant differences emerged in course learning outcome (CLO) attainment among course formats, except for the public speaking CLO, with 16-week non-cohort students performing significantly better than 5-week non-cohort students. Quantitative results also revealed that 5-week cohort students rated their course and instructor significantly higher on course evaluation surveys (CES) than 16-week non-cohort students. Qualitative findings supported quantitative results on academic performance; however, qualitative data contradicted differences identified in CES results by revealing similar student experiences across course formats. Overall, this study highlights the nuanced effects of course format on student outcomes and provides insights into online asynchronous course offerings in community college settings. Recommendations include maintaining a range of asynchronous course formats to allow students the flexibility to select the course format that best aligns with their needs, alongside the implementation of support measures such as online orientations to prepare students for asynchronous coursework. SHAPE EFFECT OF EGGS AND EGG WEIGHT SEX, WEIGHT AND OLD HATCHING HATCHING QUAIL (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) ABSTRACT The aim of the research was to examine the influence of egg shape and egg weight of Japanese quail egg towards sex, weight, and time of hatching, and the interaction between the shape and weight of Japanese quail eggs with sex, weight, and time of hatching. Materials research using 162 eggs of Japanese quail. The research methodused wasCompletely Randomized Design with factorial design twofactors. The second method is the square root transformation for the variable of sex. The results showed that the egg shape had no significant influence (P>0.05)to variable of sex, and egg weight factor had a very real influence (P0.05) to the weight of hatching, and weight factorhas a significant influence (P0.05)to hatching time. Results of the research can be concluded that eggs with heavy weights greater opportunity to produce DOQ male gender and vice-versa, and the higher weight of the eggs will be producing DOQ with high weight and vice-versa. Based on the research results, it is recommended for hatching eggs quail laying for use with light weight. Keywords: egg shape, egg weight, hatchingsex, hatching weight, hatching time.

- Abstract
The author explored the difference of ethical issues in different forms of business. The persons in different forms of business are industrialist, contractor, retailer, dispensary owner and farmer. From each category, 15 persons were taken from Dhaka and Laxmipur district and thus a total of 75 persons formed the sample. The scale used was ‘Business Ethics Inventory’. It was developed by Venkatapathy. In this scale there were 26 factors. Among them, 17 were positive and rests were negative. There was insignificant difference among the average ethical values of different forms of business. Some recommendations were made and some of them are proper scale should be introduced, government should be firm in terms of rules and their implications, proper facilities should be provided to upgrade the ethical issues in business, monetary cells need to be developed for constant vigilance, the philosophies of WTO should be changed specially for the LDCs, proper education should be provided for people of all ages and so forth. It is expected by all to be in better position in the society. This cannot be achieved by individual efforts rather group efforts are needed. When people will be adequately educated then automatically they implement their consensus.

Cerebral fat embolism is a rare and potentially fatal condition that may occur following a long bone fracture. Its characterized by respiratory, neurological, and mucocutaneous signs. Isolated severe brain syndrome remains exceptional. We report a 21-year-old male patient admitted for the cerebral manifestation of a fat embolism syndrome due to a fracture of long bone after a traffic accident injury. Neurological deterioration after a free interval was seen with generalized tonic-clonic seizures. MRI of the brain was indicated which showed numerous multifocal hyperintensities involving the deep white matter of both hemispheres producing a “starfield” appearance. This pattern of cytotoxic cerebral edema, with lesions in the white matter rather than the grey matter, is indicative of the subacute stage of fat embolism. The patient was treated with comprehensive support in the intensive care unit, he returned to normal neurological function and was discharged after 3 weeks of hospitalization.

Abstract Background Concomitant knee injuries, such as meniscal tears, are observed in up to 80% of cases and can have a detrimental impact on outcomes following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Over recent decades, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of preserving meniscal tissue. Consequently, the prevalence of meniscal-preserving procedures has been on the rise. Purpose The objective of this study was to examine the prevalence of concurrent meniscal procedures, assess the success rate, and identify factors associated with the failure of meniscal repair in patients undergoing ACLR. Methods All patients who underwent ACLR due to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury between January 2015 and December 2022 were extracted from the Republic of Türkiye National health system using operation-specific procedure codes. Patients with multiple ligament injuries, revision ACL patients, and patients with missing data were excluded from the study. The treatment methods were grouped into the subsets of meniscectomy, meniscal repair, transplantation, and meniscectomy + repair. The distribution of ACLR and meniscus treatment methods according to years, age and sex groups, hospital characteristics, and geographical regions was examined. A secondary analysis was performed to assess the effect of patient demographics and hospital healthcare level on revision meniscal procedures in the ACLR + concomitant meniscal repair group. Results A total of 91,700 patients who underwent ACLR between 2015 and 2022 were included in the study. A concomitant meniscal procedure was noted in 19,951(21.8%) patients (16,130 repair,3543 meniscectomy). In the 8 years studied, meniscus repair rates increased from 76.3%to87.9%, while meniscectomy rates decreased from 23.7%to12.1% (p

Although lithium is widely used in current practice to treat bipolar disorder (BD) and treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (MDD) among older adults, little is known about its efficacy and tolerability in this population, which is generally excluded from randomized clinical trials. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of long-term use of lithium among older adults with BD and MDD.Data from the Cohort of individuals with Schizophrenia and mood disorders Aged 55 years or more (CSA) were used. Two groups of patients with BD and MDD were compared: those who were currently receiving lithium versus those who were not. The effects of lithium on psychiatric (i.e., depressive symptoms severity, perceived clinical severity, rates of psychiatric admissions in the past-year), geriatric (overall and cognitive functioning) and physical outcomes (i.e., rates of non-psychiatric medical comorbidities and general hospital admissions in the past-year) were evaluated. All analyses were adjusted for age, sex, duration of disorder, diagnosis, smoking status, alcohol use, and use of antipsychotics, antiepileptics or antidepressants.Among the 281 older participants with BD or MDD, 15.7% were taking lithium for a mean duration of 12.5(SD = 11.6) years. Lithium use was associated with lower intensity of depressive symptoms, reduced perceived clinical global severity and lower benzodiazepine use (all p 0.05), without being linked to greater rates of medical comorbidities, except for hypothyroidism.Data were cross-sectional and data on lifetime history of psychotropic medications was not assessed. Our results suggest that long-term lithium use may be efficient and relatively well-tolerated in older adults with BD or treatment-resistant MDD.

Abstract Extensive research into dementia has more recently honed in on several key areas. These areas include the advancement of techniques such as the accumulation of amyloid-β and tau proteins, the monitoring of cerebral hypometabolism rates etc. The primary objective of this study is to explore the intricate interplay between Alzheimer's disease (AD)—other dementias (D) and various chronic illnesses in terms of time, intensity, and connectivity. In this context, we retrospectively examined data of 149,786 individuals aged 65 and above who received diagnoses of AD and D in the year 2020. At first, logistic regression (LR) analysis has been made with “sex”, “age” and “foreigner” (citizenship status) independent variables for AD and D. The LR models shows that while “sex” and “age” variables have a small rate on the risk of developing AD/D, it is detected that being a foreigner increase the risk of AD and D as 69.8% and 88.5% respectively. Besides, the LR models have middle-level success prediction rate for both of the two dependent variables. Additionally, we used the parallel coordinates graphs method within the R Studio to visualize their relationships and connections. The findings of this investigation strongly suggest that AD/D don’t stand as isolated conditions, but rather stem from intricate interactions and progressive processes involving diverse chronic diseases over time. Notably, ailments including hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and psychological disorders, contribute substantially to the emergence of both AD and D. This study highlights that the fight against AD/D can only be possible with next-generation prophylactic interventions that can predict and manage risks. Such an approach holds the potential to potentially lower AD and dementia to levels that are amenable to treatment.

Introduction COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a new coronavirus. The first cases were identified in Wuhan. It rapidly spread causing a pandemic worldwide. The incidence and severity of this disease are likely to be different in children compared with adults. Few publications of COVID-19 in children have been published. Our Moroccan paediatric series is among the first studies on this disease in Africa. Methods We included all children with COVID-19 who were admitted and treated at the hospital from March 25 to April 26, 2020. We have collected information, including demographic data, symptoms, imaging data, laboratory results, treatments and clinical progress from patients with COVID-19. Results Since the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus infection (2019-nCoV) in Morocco, a total of 145 COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported in the Cheikh Khalifa's Hospital. Among this cases, 15 children were registered. The median age of patients was 13 years. There were 7 boys and 8 girls. Five children are asymptomatic, 8 have mild symptoms and 2 have a moderate respiratory difficulty. The RT-PCR test results were positive in all patients. Radiologically, we found in 2 cases, multiple nodules with ground-glass opacities on the chest scan. The treatment was based on the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. Evolution under treatment was good for all patients. Conclusion This study describes the profile of COVID-19 in child in a Moroccan hospital and confirms that the severity of illness in children with COVID-19 to be far less than adults.

Changes of the physicochemical characteristics of sandy soil, with low productivity, treated by the addition of eco and environmentally-friendly composts were evaluated. Two composts were produced from sludge of an urban wastewater treatment plant mixed with two different types of vegetable by-products, wood sawdust and straw. Studies were made on plant pots and two types of wheat were produced inside a greenhouse. Sandy soil tested was characterized before and after wheat production. The obtained results have shown increased levels of available nutrients as nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, an increase of the soil pH and an enhancement of the cationic exchange capacity of the soil as a function of the compost addition. On the other hand, the germination and growth of two types of wheat was improved by a factor of two and three, respectively in the amended soils. The beneficial effect of compost amendment was proportional to the employed dose. All results suggest that application of biocompost to sandy soil is a feasible option as a fertilizer substitute to supplement plant nutrient needs. This alternative material can replace environmentally dangerous and hazardous chemical products traditionally applied in agriculture.

Little is known about the respective effects of depression and cognitive impairment on quality of life among older adults with schizophrenia spectrum disorder. We used data from the Cohort of individuals with Schizophrenia Aged 55-years or more (CSA) study, a large multicenter sample of older adults with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder (N = 353). Quality of life (QoL), depression and cognitive impairment were assessed using the Quality of Life Scale (QLS), the Center of Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale and the Mini-Mental State Examination, respectively. We used structural equation modeling to examine the shared and specific effects of depression and cognitive impairment on QoL, while adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, general medical conditions, psychotropic medications and the duration of the disorder.Depression and cognitive impairment were positively associated (r = 0.24, p 0.01) and both independently and negatively impacted on QoL (standardized β = -0.41 and β = -0.32, both p 0.01) and on each QLS quality-of-life domains, except for depression on instrumental role and cognitive impairment on interpersonal relations in the sensitivity analyses excluding respondents with any missing data. Effects of depression and cognitive impairment on QoL were not due to specific depressive symptoms or specific cognitive domains, but rather mediated through two broad dimensions representing the shared effects across all depressive symptoms and all cognitive deficits, respectively.Because of the cross-sectional design of this study, measures of association do not imply causal associations.Mechanisms underlying these two broad dimensions should be considered as important potential targets to improve quality of life of this vulnerable population.

Pericallosal lipomas are the most habitual location for an intracranial lipoma. They are fat-containing lesions arising from the interhemispheric fissure intimately related to the corpus callosum , which is often abnormal. They originate from aberrant differentiation of the persistent primitive meninx. Most Pericallosal lipomas are asymptomatic and come into clinical attention during neuroradiological investigations for other conditions. MRI is the modality of choice to characterize not only the extent of the lipoma but also the frequently associated agenesis/dysgenesis of the corpus callosum . Pericallosal lipomas can be divided into two groups: The Tubulonodular type and The curvilinear type. Curvilinear lipomas are less common than Tubulonodular. We report the clinical and radiological findings of curvilinear Pericallosal lipoma in two patients with corpus callosum abnormalities revealed incidentally during evaluation following trauma.

The study was based on an external pilot-scale membrane bioreactor (MBR) with a ceramic membrane compared to a conventional activated sludge process (ASP) plant. Both systems received their influent from domestic wastewater. The MBR produced an effluent of much better quality than the ASP in terms of total suspended solids (TSS), 5-day biological oxygen demand (BOD5) and chemical oxygen demand (COD), total phosphorus (TP) and total nitrogen (TN). Other effluent quality parameters also indicated substantial differences between the ASP and the MBR. This study leads to the conclusion that in the case of domestic wastewater, MBR treatment leads to excellent effluent quality. Hence, the replacement of ASP by MBR may be justified on the basis of the improved removal of solids, nutrients, and micropollutants. Furthermore, in terms of reuse the high quality of the treated water allows it to be reused for irrigation.

Background Long-term survival with durable response remains possible in the area of targeted therapies. Discontinuation of sunitinib could improve quality of life and reduce treatment costs in metastatic renal cell carcinoma with long-term disease stabilization. We discuss a case of successful interruption of antiangiogenic therapy in a patient with persisting evidence of metastases. The discontinuation of antiangiogenic therapy seems to be an option, even in indolent oligo-metastatic renal cell carcinoma with long disease stabilization before sunitinib. This observation contributes important data to the ongoing discussion on the discontinuation of treatment with kinase inhibitors in selected patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Case presentation We report a case of an 80-year-old Moroccan man treated for renal clear cell carcinoma with multiple pancreatic metastases. He was not on any other medications. He underwent active surveillance with deferred sunitinib at disease progression. He showed significant disease control on sunitinib therapy demonstrating partial response with stable disease after a total of 28 months of therapy. He experienced toxicities which were manageable with supportive care and dose adjustments. Our patient asked for a break of the sunitinib administration, and the treatment was stopped. The disease remained stable after 13 months’ discontinuation of sunitinib therapy. The patient was in excellent overall health. Conclusions All available agents for metastatic renal cell carcinoma have side effects, which may become serious in a minority of patients. Clinicians and patients must therefore carefully balance the goals of maximal efficacy with minimal toxicity. Sunitinib can be discontinued without negatively impacting outcomes in indolent disease. Further research is needed to characterize the molecular determinants of response and resistance to targeted therapy.

Physical activity (PA) is a key element in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes but it is now well established that participation in regular PA improves blood glucose control and can prevent or delay the type 2 diabetes along with affecting lipids, blood pressure, cardiovascular events, mortality and quality of life. Structured interventions combining PA and modest weight loss have been shown to lower type 2 diabetes risks by up to 58% in high-risk populations. Most benefits of PA on diabetes management are realized through acute and chronic improvements in insulin action, gestational diabetes mellitus, and safe and effective practices for PA with diabetes-related complication. Pollution continues to experience a rapid increase so cities in the world have required the use of renewable energy. One of the keys that can prevent climate change with a sustainable system is renewable energy. Renewable energy production, especially for hybrid systems from biomass and wind, is the objective of the analysis in this work. The potential of feedstock for different biofuels such as bio-diesel, bio-ethanol, bio-methane, bio-hydrogen, and biomass is also discussed in this paper. The sustainability of the energy system for the long term is the main focus of work in this investigation. The configuration of the hybrid system between biomass energy and wind energy as well as some problems from various design factors are also presented. Based on the findings, this alternative energy utilization through biomass-based hybrids can save costs and improve environmental conditions, especially for the electrification of off-grid rural areas. This paper will provide important information to policymakers, academics, and investors, especially in carrying out the development and factors related to the utilization of wind-biomass-based hybrid energy systems.

The Drarga treatment plant was chosen as a pilot site for treatment and reuse of domestic wastewater. It uses reed beds as a tertiary treatment, so this research was conducted to study the performance of the reeds over a period of 3 years (March 2006–March 2009), that is three growing seasons. The reeds were cut after 2 years. Knowing that the Drarga climate is semi arid, we studied the behaviour of purification by reeds over seasonal changes. The reeds were effective in removing pollution over the three growing seasons studied; the average removal of BOD5 over 3 years was 71%. The maximum removal efficiency was in winter; this is associated with high oxygenation of the water mass caused by mixing and stirring induced by the movement of the long stems of the reeds.

CNS tuberculosis remains relatively frequent in endemic regions. Both CT and MRI are valuable for diagnosis. Even though non-specific, MRI including diffusion-weighted imaging and proton spectroscopy is more sensitive than CT for detection of some lesions. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the imaging features of CNS tuberculosis.

Purpose – This literature review paper aims to discuss the impacts and measures taken on Covid-19 with respect to architecture, built form and its allied fields along with observations from around the world with the end results of its implementation. Design/methodology/approach – Various research journals from Science Direct and Taylor and Francis among others were referred and reviewed to learn more on Covid-19 along with its impacts on people and their built environment. Keywords that aligned with the topic of interest like pandemic, Covid-19, coronavirus, urban spaces, built environment and built-up space were identified. Research papers that aligned with the scope of the paper and its keywords were found. An excel sheet with the basic data of these papers was written down. The essence of each of these articles were understood and linked with the topic in hand. A review of all these papers was written coherently to the topic. Future scope in this field of study was also identified. Findings – It discusses the various measures taken around the world in built-up spaces along with the various measures given by researchers, architects and urban planners to mitigate and reduce the transmission of Covid-19 in the built environment and urban spaces. The discussed measures along with observations from around the world have also been discussed with its end results. Discussions and conclusions on these design strategies and recommendations are made with the anticipation of a paradigm shift due to post-pandemic changes. Current scenarios of public spaces in densely populated countries are discussed. Future scope in this ongoing field of study includes measures that can be taken in specific to some particular built-up typologies like markets, theaters, parks, bazaars, etc. Research limitations/implications – The limitation of this study is the restricting of the study of Covid-19 to only architectural, urban and public realm scales. The study does not facilitate the involvement of other fields and their influence with Covid-19. Originality/value – This paper has been completely written by the author and the co-authors and has not been copied from any other sources.

The proliferation of mobile phones with integrated sensors makes large scale sensing possible at low cost. During mobile sensing, data mostly contain sensitive information of users such as their real-time location. When such information are not effectively secured, users’ privacy can be violated due to eavesdropping and information disclosure. In this paper, we demonstrated the possibility of unauthorized access to location information of a user during sensing due to the ineffective security mechanisms in most sensing applications. We analyzed 40 apps downloaded from Google Play Store and results showed a 100% success rate in traffic interception and disclosure of sensitive information of users. As a countermeasure, a security scheme which ensures encryption and authentication of sensed data using Advanced Encryption Standard 256-Galois Counter Mode was proposed. End-to-end security of location and motion data from smartphone sensors are ensured using the proposed security scheme. Security analysis of the proposed scheme showed it to be effective in protecting Android based sensor data against eavesdropping, information disclosure and data modification.

Conclusion.
