Abstract: We have studied the vector to pseudoscalar conversion decay ϕ→ηe+e−, with η→π0π0π0, with the KLOE detector at DAΦNE. The data set of 1.7 fb−1 of e+e− collisions at s∼Mϕ contains a clear conversion decay signal of ∼31,000 events from which we measured a value of BR(ϕ→ηe+e−)=(1.075±0.007±0.038)×10−4. The same sample is used to determine the transition form factor by a fit to the e+e− invariant mass spectrum, obtaining bϕη=(1.28±0.10−0.08+0.09) GeV−2, that improves by a factor of five the precision of the previous measurement and is in good agreement with VMD expectations. Abstract: The absolute branching ratio of the K+→π+π−π+(γ) decay, inclusive of final-state radiation, has been measured using ∼17 million tagged K+ mesons collected with the KLOE detector at DAΦNE, the Frascati ϕ-factory. The result is:BR(K+→π+π−π+(γ))=0.05565±0.00031stat±0.00025syst a factor ≃ 5 more precise with respect to the previous result. Using e+e− collisions collected with an integrated luminosity of 239.3 pb−1, we look for a dimuon mass peak in the reaction e+e−→μ+μ−γ, corresponding to the decay U→μ+μ−. Abstract: The muon anomalous magnetic moment is one of the most precisely measured quantities in particle physics and a persistent discrepancy of about 3 σ between standard model (SM) prediction and the experimental measurement has been observed. The leading order contribution aμhlo is actually the main source of uncertainty in the theoretical evaluation of the muon anomaly. It is obtained by a dispersion integral using the precision measurement of hadronic cross section. The KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ−factory in Frascati was the first to exploit Initial State Radiation (ISR) processes to obtain the e+e−→π+π−(γ) cross section below 1 GeV, that accounts for most (70%) of the leading order contribution to the muon anomaly. In year 2005 and 2008 the KLOE-collaboration has published two measurements of the π+π− cross section with the photon in the initial state emitted at small angle, and an independent measurement with the photon emitted at large angle was finalized in year 2011. These measurements were normalized using luminosity from Bhabha. In the last years, a new analysis of KLOE data has been performed for obtaining the pion form factor directly from the bin-by-bin π+π−γ to μ+μ−γ ratio. We present the results of this new measurement, showing the comparison with our previous measurements, and its impact on the hadronic contribution to the muon anomaly.

Abstract: We have carried out a new direct search for the CP violating decay K-S -> 3 pi(0) with 1.7 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collisions collected by the KLOE detector at the Phi-factory DA Phi NE. We have searched for this decay in a sample of about 5.9 x 10(8) KSKL events tagging the K-S by means of the K-L interaction in the calorimeter and requiring six prompt photons. With respect to our previous search, the analysis has been improved by increasing of a factor four the tagged sample and by a more effective background rejection of fake K-S tags and spurious clusters. We find no candidates in data and simulated background samples, while we expect 0.12 standard model events. Normalizing to the number of K-S -> 2 pi(0) events in the same sample, we set the upper limit on BR(K-S -> 3 pi(0))

Abstract: We have measured the ratio cr (e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma)/sigma(e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma), with the KLOE detector at DA Phi NE for a total integrated luminosity of similar to 240 pb(-1). From this ratio we obtain the cross section sigma (e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma). From the cross section we determine the pion form factor vertical bar F-pi vertical bar(2) and the two-pion contribution to the muon anomaly a(mu) for 0.592< M-pi pi < 0.975 GeV, Delta(pi pi) a(mu) = (385.1 +/- 1.1(stat) +/- 2.7(sys+theo)) x 10(-10). This result confirms the current discrepancy between the Standard Model calculation and the experimental measurement of the muon anomaly. (c) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: The ratio R-eta = Gamma(eta -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma)/Gamma(eta -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)) has been measured by analysing 22 million phi -> eta gamma decays collected by the KLOE experiment at DANE, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 558 pb(-1). The eta -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma proceeds both via the rho resonant contribution, and possibly a non-resonant direct term, connected to the box anomaly. Our result, R-eta = 0.1856 +/- 0.0005(stat)+/- 0.0028(syst), points out a sizable contribution of the direct term to the total width. The di-pion invariant mass for the eta -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma decay could be described in a model-independent approach in terms of a(-) single free parameter, alpha. The determined value of the parameter alpha is alpha = (1.32 +/- 0.08(stat-0.09syst)(+0.10) +/- 0.02(theo)) GeV-2. 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: The existence of a light dark force mediator has been tested with the KLOE detector at DAPHNE. This particle, called U, is searched for using the decay chain phi-->etaU, eta-->pi+pi-pi0, U-->e+e-. No evidence is found in 1.5 fb-1 of data. The resulting exclusion plot covers the mass range 5, Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: We report the first observation of the rare η → e + e − e + e − ( γ ) decay based on 1.7 fb − 1 collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ-factory. The selection of the e + e − e + e − final state is fully inclusive of radiation. We have identified 362 ± 29 events resulting in a branching ratio of ( 2.4 ± 0.2 stat + bckg ± 0.1 syst ) × 10 − 5 .

Abstract: We have measured the cross section σ ( e + e − → π + π − γ ( γ ) ) at DAΦNE, the Frascati ϕ-factory, using events with initial state radiation photons emitted at small angle and inclusive of final state radiation. We present the analysis of a new data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 240 pb−1. We have achieved a reduced systematic uncertainty with respect to previously published KLOE results. From the cross section we obtain the pion form factor and the contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly from two-pion states in the mass range 0.592 M π π 0.975 GeV . For the latter we find Δ π π a μ = ( 387.2 ± 0.5 stat ± 2.4 exp ± 2.3 th ) × 10 −10 .

Abstract: Neutral kaons provide one of the systems most sensitive to quantum mechanics and CPT violation. Models predicting quantum mechanics violation, also related to CPT violation, have been tested at the CPLEAR and KLOE experiments. In this report results of CPLEAR obtained by studying the time evolution of single and two entangled kaons are reviewed. New or improved limits on decoherence and CPT violation parameters have been obtained by KLOE studying the quantum interference in the channel ϕ → K S K L → π + π − π + π − . No deviations from the expectations of quantum mechanics and CPT symmetry have been observed.

Abstract: "We have carried out a new direct search for the CP violating decay KS→3π0 with 1.7 fb−1 of e+e− collisions collected by the KLOE detector at the Φ-factory DAΦ NE. We have searched for this decay in a sample of about 5.9×108KSKL events tagging the KS by means of the KL interaction in the calorimeter and requiring six prompt photons. With respect to our previous search, the analysis has been improved by increasing of a factor four the tagged sample and by a more effective background rejection of fake KS tags and spurious clusters. We find no candidates in data and simulated background samples, while we expect 0.12 standard model events. Normalizing to the number of KS→2π0 events in the same sample, we set the upper limit on BR(KS→3π0)⩽2.6×10−8 at 90% C.L., five times lower than the previous limit. We also set the upper limit on the η000 parameter, |η000|⩽0.0088 at 90% C.L., improving by a factor two the latest direct measurement.. . . "

Abstract: We have measured the cross section σ ( e + e − → π + π − γ ) at an energy W = m ϕ = 1.02 GeV with the KLOE detector at the electron–positron collider DA Φ NE . From the dependence of the cross section on the invariant mass of the two-pion system, we extract σ ( e + e − → π + π − ) for the mass range 0.35 s 0.95 GeV 2 . From this result, we calculate the pion form factor and the hadronic contribution to the muon anomaly, a μ .

Abstract: We have searched with the KLOE detector for the P and CP violating decay eta --> pi(+)pi(-) in a sample of 1.55 x 10(7) eta's from the decay phi --> etagamma of phi-mesons produced in e(+)e(-) annihilations at DAPhiNE. We collected ∼ 3.3 × 10 7 tagged charged kaons, from the reaction e + e − → ϕ → K + K − . We find BR ( K ± → π ± π 0 π 0 ) = ( 1.763 ± 0.013 stat ± 0.022 syst ) × 10 − 2 .

Abstract: We have measured the ratio R = Γ ( K L → γγ )/ Γ ( K L → π 0 π 0 π 0 ) using the KLOE detector. From a sample of ∼10 9 φ -mesons produced at DAΦNE, the Frascati φ -factory, we select ∼1.6×10 8 K L -mesons tagged by observing K S → π + π − following the reaction e + e − → φ → K L K S . From this sample we select 27,375 K L → γγ events and obtain R =(2.79±0.02 stat ±0.02 syst )×10 −3 . Using the world average value for BR( K L → π 0 π 0 π 0 ), we obtain BR( K L → γγ )=(5.89±0.07±0.08)×10 −4 where the second error is due to the uncertainty on the π 0 π 0 π 0 branching fraction.

Abstract: A sample of 5.3 × 10 7 φ mesons, produced at the Frascati φ-factory DAΦNE, has been used by the KLOE Collaboration to study the φ radiative decays. The decays φ → ηπ 0 γ and φ → π o π o γ have been exploited to study the scalar mesons a o (980) and f o (980). Furthermore a new determination of the η − η′ mixing angle has been obtained from the measurement of the ratio of the decay rates of / gf → η ′ γ to φ → ηγ .

Abstract: The KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE e+e− collider and its physics program is presented. The most recent results obtained using the data collected during the year 2000 (about 20 pb−1) are presented, in particular the ratio of branching ratios BR(KS → π+π−)/BR(Ks → π0π0), the branching ratio for the Ke3 decay of the KS, the ratio BR(φ → η′γ)/BR(φ → ηγ) and the pseudoscalar mixing angle ϕP, and the branching ratios for the decays φ → f0γ and φ → a0γ.

Abstract: We have measured the branching ratio BR( φ → π 0 π 0 γ ) with the KLOE detector using a sample of ∼5×10 7 φ decays. φ mesons are produced at DA Φ NE, the Frascati φ -factory. We find BR( φ → π 0 π 0 γ )=(1.09±0.03 stat ±0.05 syst )×10 −4 . We fit the two-pion mass spectrum to models to disentangle contributions from various sources.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching ratio BR(KS --> pi e nu) performed using the KLOE detector. KS mesons are produced in the reaction e+ e- --> phi --> KS KL at the DAFNE collider. In a sample of about 5 million KS-tagged events we find 624 +- 30 semileptonic KS decays. Normalizing to the KS --> pi+ pi- count in the same data sample, we obtain BR(KS --> pi e nu) = (6.91 +- 0.37) 10^-4, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation., Comment: 9 pages, 5 Encapsulated Postscript figures. Abstract: The KLOE experiment at DAΦNE has collected data for an integrated luminosity of ~ 1.3 fb-1 from e+e- collisions at center-of-mass energy around the ϕ-meson peak, W ~1.02 GeV . A selection of results obtained from a sample of 450 pb-1 of data acquired during year 2001 and 2002 is presented. Studying tagged KS and KL-mesons produced in the reaction e+e-→ϕ→KS KL we measured the branching ratio of the decay KS→πeν, the upper limit on the decay KS→π0π0π0, and the main KL decay branching ratios. Exploiting the initial state radiation in the reaction e+e-→π+π-γ, we extracted the hadronic cross-section as a function of the squared center-of-mass energy sπ of the π π system, in the range 0.35 < sπ < 0.95 GeV 2.

Abstract: We have searched with the KLOE detector for the P and CP violating decay eta --> pi(+)pi(-) in a sample of 1.55 x 10(7) eta's from the decay phi --> etagamma of phi-mesons produced in e(+)e(-) annihilations at DAPhiNE. No signal is found. We obtain the upper limit BR(eta --> pi(+)pi(-)) < 1.3 x 10(-5) at 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We have measured the absolute branching ratio BR(K+/- --> pi(+/-)pi(0)pi(0)) with the KLOE detector at the DAPhiNE e(+)e(-) collider. We collected similar to 3.3 x 10(7) tagged charged kaons, from the reaction e(+)e(-) --> phi --> K+K-. We find BR(K+/- --> pi(+/-)pi(0)pi(0)) = (1.763 +/- 0.013(stat) +/- 0.022(syst)) x 10(-2).

Abstract: The KLOE experiment at DA/spl Phi/NE is largely devoted to the study of discrete symmetries in the K/sub S/K/sub L/ system. During 2001-2002, KLOE collected 1.4 /spl times/ 10/sup 9/ /spl phi/ decays, for a total data volume of nearly 200 TB. We describe the KLOE computing environment, outlining our solutions to issues of calibration, reconstruction, data reduction, and data access for analysis. We discuss the performance of the system, with particular emphasis on the data-processing and transfer rates, and also describe the generation of large Monte Carlo samples. The KLOE computing environment has been been demonstrated to be flexible and scalable in the presence of rapidly evolving data-taking conditions.

Abstract: The Data Acquisition system for the KLOE experiment, presently running at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati DAΦNE collider, has been designed to sustain an acquisition throughput of 50 Mbyte / s for an event rate of 10 kHz . Its two major components are the front end data readout, based on custom buses, and a complex network of computers and storage devices hosting a set of distributed processes. The end result is a seamless data transport from the readout system to the storage library, accompanied by concurrent on line calibrations and data quality control.

Abstract: We have measured the ratio R=Gamma(K_L -> gamma gamma)/ \Gamma(K_L -> 3 pi^0) using the KLOE detector. From a sample of ~ 10^9 phi-mesons produced at DAFNE, the Frascati phi-factory, we select ~ 1.6 10^8 K_L-mesons tagged by observing K_S -> pi^+ pi^- following the reaction e^+ e^- -> phi -> K_L K_S. From this sample we select 27,375 K_L -> gamma gamma events and obtain R = (2.79 \pm 0.02_{stat} \pm 0.02_{syst}) \times 10^{-3}. Using the world average value for BR(K_{L} -> 3 pi^0), we obtain BR(K_{L} -> gamma gamma) = (5.89 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.08) \times 10^{-4} where the second error is due to the uncertainty on the 3 pi^0 branching fraction.

Abstract: We present a study of the reaction e+e- --> pi+pi-pi0 at the phi peak W=M(phi)=1019.4 MeV observed with the KLOE detector at Dafne. The reaction is dominated by phi production and decay, e+e- --> phi --> pi+pi-pi0. From a fit to the Dalitz plot density distribution we obtain the rho-meson parameters for its three charge states. We also find the relative amplitudes for phi --> rhopi and phi -> pi+pi-pi0 and the cross-section for e+e- --> omega pi0 with omega --> pi+pi-.

Abstract: We report the results on the radiative decays phi --> eta'gamma, phi --> pi(0)pi(0)gamma and phi --> etapi(0)gamma obtained with the KLOE detector at the DAPhiNE phi-factory, using a sample of similar to 16 pb(-1). The value of the branching ratio for the phi --> eta'gamma decay is related to the s (s) over bar and gluon content of the eta'. A fit to the two-pseudoscalar invariant mass for the pi(0)pi(0)gamma and etapi(0)gamma final states gives the contribution of the direct terms phi --> f(0)gamma, phi --> sigmagamma and phi --> a(0)gamma, allowing us to investigate the nature of these light scalar mesons. Abstract: The ϕ-factory DAΦNE offers a possibility to select pure kaon beams, charged and neutral ones. In particular, neutral kaons from ϕ → K S K L are produced in pairs and the detection of a K S ( K L ) tags the presence of a K L ( K S ) . This allows to perform precise measurements of kaon properties by means of KLOE detector. Another advantage of a ϕ-factory consists in fact that the neutral kaon pairs are produced in a pure quantum state ( J P C = 1 − − ) , which allows to investigate CP and CPT symmetries via quantum interference effects, as well as the basic principles of quantum mechanics. A review of the most recent results of the KLOE experiment at DAΦNE using pure kaon beams or via quantum interferometry is presented together with prospects for kaon physics at KLOE–2.

Abstract: In the fixed energy environment of the $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider DA$\Phi$NE, KLOE can measure the cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to$ hadrons as a function of the hadronic system energy using the radiative return. At energies below 1 GeV, $e^{+}e^{-} \to \rho \to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ is the dominating hadronic process. Abstract: We have measured the radiative decays phi --> etagamma, phi --> eta'gamma selecting pi(+)pi(-)gammagammagamma final state in a sample of similar to 5 x 10(7) phi-mesons produced at the Frascati phi-factory DAPhiNE. We obtain Gamma(phi --> eta'gamma)/Gamma(phi --> etagamma) = (4.70 +/- 0.47 +/- 0.31) x 10(-3). From this result we derive new accurate values for the branching ratio BR(phi --> eta'gamma) = (6.10 +/- 0.61 +/- 0.43) x 10(-5) and the mixing angle of pseudoscalar mesons in the flavour basis phi(P) = (41.8(-1.6)(+1.9))degrees.

Abstract: The stringent requirements of the KLOE experiment on dimensions, efficiency, resolution and transparency of its drift chamber led to building a tracking device which can be considered innovative from many points of view. Details of the design and construction of this detector, together with preliminary results from the test of its full scale prototype, constructed and operated under a test beam at CERN, are presented and discussed.

Abstract: The KLOE detector was designed primarily For the study of CP violation in neutral kaon decays at DAPhiNE, the Frascati Phi-factory. The detector consists of a tracker and an electromagnetic calorimeter. A lead-scintillating-fiber sampling calorimeter satisfies best the requirements of the experiment. providing adequate energy resolution and superior timing accuracy. We describe in the following the construction of the calorimeter, its calibration and how the calorimeter information is used to obtain energy, point of entry and time of the arrival of photons, electrons and charged particles. With e(+)e(-) collision data at DAPhiNE for an integrated luminosity of some 2 pb(-1) we find for electromagnetic showers, an energy resolution of 5.7%/rootE(GeV) and a time resolution of 54/rootE(GeV) ps. Abstract: The design and construction of the large Drift Chamber for the KLOE experiment at the Frascati φ-factory, DAΦNE, are described. The relevant aspects of the various elements of the detector are reviewed together with a description of the track reconstruction program and of the calibration procedures. The performance of the detector based on measurements with cosmic rays and with e+e− colliding beams during DAΦNE commissioning is presented.

Abstract: The quadrupole tile calorimeters of KLOE (QCAL) are two compact detectors placed close to the interaction point and surrounding the focusing quadrupoles. Their purpose is to increase the hermeticity of KLOE calorimetry. Each QCAL consists of a sampling structure of lead plates and scintillator tiles with wavelength shifter (WLS) fibers and mesh photomultiplier readout arranged in 16 azimuthal sectors. The arrangement of WLS fibers allows the measurement of the longitudinal position of the showers from time of flight. In this paper we describe the QCAL design and assembly and present preliminary results obtained with both cosmic rays and photons from KL decays. The time and energy calibration procedures are also discussed in detail.
