In this paper, we explore the dynamics of the global quantum discord (GQD) and quantum Fisher information (QFI) of a multipartite two-level stationary and moving atomic system under the Stark shift effect. The system interacts with a thermal field with a different number of average thermal photons. For a fixed Stark parameter value, the GQD magnitudes increase as the system size (N) increases for both static and moving atomic systems. However, in the instance of a stationary atomic system and lower Stark parameter values, the QFI preserves a constant magnitude for different N values. When atomic motion is taken, the quantifier dynamics exhibit periodic oscillations. Additionally, increasing the Stark parameter led to a suppression in the magnitude of both GQD and QFI. With in the sight of intrinsic decoherence (ID), the quantifiers show a damping in their oscillations. Interestingly, the atomic motion assists to mitigate the damping effects caused by ID. Moreover, if the average thermal photons are increased, the magnitude of the GQD and QFI are decreased.

Introduction: The motivation of the implementing nurse is essential to improving the quality of health services. Implementing nurses plays a vital role in providing quality services to patients. High work motivation is crucial in enhancing nurses' performance and commitment to providing the best care. Objective: Knowing the motivation behind implementing nurses can improve the quality of health services. Method: This research is quantitative, with a cross-sectional study design using a quantitative analytical approach. The number of samples was 81 people using total sampling. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The analysis method uses the Fisher's exact test. Results: Based on the results of the analysis, these employees have discipline that is still lacking in completing work, while of the 5 respondents who have low work motivation, three respondents (3.7%) have good performance. This is because employees have effectiveness, efficiency, authority, responsibility, discipline, and good work initiative. The statistical test results using Fisher's exact test obtained p = 0.009, smaller than a = 0.05 (p < 0.05), which means Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. This suggests there is a meaningful relationship between work motivation and. Conclusion: The researchers found that the work motivation of implementing nurses can improve the quality of health services. Implementing nurses can enhance healthcare quality, build team spirit, and achieve organisational goals. These efforts help increase patient satisfaction and improve job satisfaction and nurses' well-being. Therefore, understanding and applying compelling work motivation is the key to improving the quality of health services.

Abstract The Schockley–Quisser (SQ) limit of 28.64% is distant from the Sb2S3 solar cells’ record power conversion efficiency (PCE), which is 8.00%. Such poor efficiency is mostly owing to substantial interface-induced recombination losses caused by defects at the interfaces and misaligned energy levels. The endeavor of this study is to investigate an efficient Sb2S3 solar cell structure via accurate analytical modeling. The proposed model considers different recombination mechanisms such as non-radiative recombination, Sb2S3/CdS interface recombination, Auger, SRH, tunneling-enhanced recombination, and their combined impact on solar cell performance. This model is verified against experimental work (Glass/ITO/CdS/Sb2S3/Au) where a good coincidence is achieved. Several parameters effects such as thickness, doping, electronic affinity, and bandgap are scrutinized. The effect of both bulk traps located in CdS and Sb2S3 on the electrical outputs of the solar cell is analyzed thoroughly. Besides, a deep insight into the effect of interfacial traps on solar cell figures of merits is gained through shedding light into their relation with carriers’ minority lifetime, diffusion length, and surface recombination velocity. Our research findings illuminate that the primary contributors to Sb2S3 degradation are interfacial traps and series resistance. Furthermore, achieving optimal band alignment by fine-tuning the electron affinity of CdS to create a Spike-like conformation is crucial for enhancing the immunity of the device versus the interfacial traps. In our study, the optimized solar cell configuration (Glass/ITO/CdS/Sb2S3/Au) demonstrates remarkable performance, including a high short-circuit current (J SC ) of 47.9 mA/cm2, an open-circuit voltage (V OC ) of 1.16 V, a fill factor (FF) of 54%, and a notable improvement in conversion efficiency by approximately 30% compared to conventional solar cells. Beyond its superior performance, the optimized Sb2S3 solar cell also exhibits enhanced reliability in mitigating interfacial traps at the CdS/Sb2S3 junction. This improved reliability can be attributed to our precise control of band alignment and the fine-tuning of influencing parameters.

Abstract We theoretically investigate continuous variable entanglement and macroscopic quantum coherence in the hybrid L–G rotational cavity optomechanical system containing two YIG spheres. In this system, a single L–G cavity mode and both magnon modes (which are due to the collective excitation of spins in two YIG spheres) are coupled through the magnetic dipole interaction whereas the L–G cavity mode can also exchange orbital angular momentum (OAM) with the rotating mirror (RM). We study in detail the effects of various physical parameters like cavity and both magnon detunings, environment temperature, optorotational and magnon coupling strengths on the bipartite entanglement and the macroscopic quantum coherence as well. We also explore parameter regimes to achieve maximum values for both of these quantum correlations. We also observed that the parameters regime for achieving maximum bipartite entanglement is completely different from macroscopic quantum coherence. So, our present study shall provide a method to control various nonclassical quantum correlations of macroscopic objects in the hybrid L–G rotational cavity optomechanical system and have potential applications in quantum sensing, quantum meteorology, and quantum information science.

In this study, cotton and ramie knitted fabrics were dyed with reactive red 195, yellow 145 and blue 194 dyes and subsequent analyses were done. An exhaust method without alkali was followed and subsequently, spectrophotometric analysis was conducted to measure the values of substantivity% (S) of the dyes in both ramie and cotton knitted fabric dyeing. Solutions were prepared to measure the exhaustion% (E), fixation% (F) and reactivity% (R) of those dyes in cotton and ramie fabric dyeing using another exhaust method that comprises exhaustion, fixation (addition of alkali) and wash-off (treating with soaping agent) stages sequentially. Dye compatibility, colour strength (K/S), colour uniformity and colour fastness to washing and rubbing were assessed from the dyed cotton and ramie samples. All of these values were higher while dyeing cotton fabric samples. The average proportion of dye (%) of yellow, red and blue were 35.68%, 32.95% and 31.36% respectively for dyed ramie fabrics and in case of dyed cotton fabrics, the average proportion of dye (%) of yellow, red and blue were 41.45%, 33.22% and 25.33% respectively. Average K/S values of ramie and cotton were found 5.736 and 6.674 respectively and the colour uniformity was better for dyed cotton fabrics. Both cotton and ramie fabrics showed good to excellent results in terms of colour fastness to washing and rubbing. However, dyed ramie fabrics showed slightly inferior properties in case of staining to nylon-6, 6 and wet rubbing fastness. This research demonstrates the feasibility of dyeing both ramie and cotton with reactive red 195, yellow 145 and blue 194 in a union dyeing method.

Perovskite materials are getting attention day by day due to their numerous optoelectronic properties. Lead-free perovskites are well-known for various applications in photovoltaic devices due to their non-toxicity which has no impacts on both the environment and health. Cs2PtI6, a lead-free halide perovskite, is renowned for its broad-spectrum light absorption and remarkably high absorption coefficient. Its stability under ambient conditions surpasses that of numerous other halide perovskites, rendering it exceptionally appealing for photovoltaic applications. The device configuration with FTO/ETL/Cs2PtI6/HTL/Au is used in this study where 4 different ETLs and 10 HTLs are used to investigate the best device configuration. The impact of different device parameters like thickness, acceptor density, donor density, and defect density are optimized to attain the best efficient device configuration. SCAPS-1D simulator is used to perform numerical analysis under light intensity of AM 1.5 light spectrum (100 mW/cm2). After the optimization of different device parameters, the device configured with FTO/SnS2/Cs2PtI6/MoTe2/Au shows the best performance among four devices where PCE is 32.98 %, VOC is 1.11 V, JSC is 33.19 mA/cm2, FF is 88.89 %. This suggested Cs2PtI6-based perovskite solar cells demonstrate superior performance compared to numerous lead perovskite-based solar cells, highlighting Cs2PtI6 as a promising alternative for photovoltaic applications while mitigating toxicity concerns.

In perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the charge carrier recombination obstacles mainly occur at the ETL/perovskite and HTL/perovskite interfaces, which play a decisive role in the solar cell performance. Therefore, this study aims to enhance the flexible PSC (FPSC) efficiency by adding the newly designed CBz-PAI-interlayer (simply CBz-PAI-IL) at the perovskite/HTL interface. In addition, substantial work has been carried out on five different HTLs (Se/Te–Cu2O, CuGaO2, V2O5, and CuSCN, including conventional Spiro-OMeTAD as a reference HTL with and without CBz-PAI-IL), using drift-diffusion simulation to find suitable FPSC design to attain the maximum PCE. Interestingly, PET/ITO/AZO/ZnO NWs/FACsPbBrI3/CBz-PAI/Se/Te–Cu2O/Au device architecture demonstrates the highest achievable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 27.9 %. The findings of this study confirmed that the reference device (without IL) displays a large valence band edge (VBE)/highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level misalignment compared to the modified interface device (with CBz-PAI-IL that reduces VBE/HOMO level mismatch) that eases the hole transport, simultaneously, it reduces the charge carrier recombinations at the interface, resulting in diminished Voc losses in the device. Furthermore, the influence of perovskite absorber thickness and defect density, parasitic resistances, and working temperature are systematically examined to govern the superior FPSC efficiency and concurrently understand the device physics.

Abstract In the backdrop of today's environmental priorities, where toxicity and stability hinder lead‐based perovskite solar cell (PSC) progress, the emergence of lead‐free alternatives like Cs2AgBiBr6 perovskites has gained significance. This study revolves around the comprehensive evaluation of Cs2AgBiBr6 as a potential photovoltaic (PV) material, using density functional theory (DFT) calculations with CASTEP. Revealing a vital bandgap of 1.654 eV and emphasizing the contributions of Ag‐4d and Br‐4p orbitals, this analysis also underscores Ag atoms' dominance in charge distribution. Optically, Cs2AgBiBr6 exhibits UV absorption peaks around 15 eV, intensifying with photon energy up to 3.75 eV, hinting at its promise for solar applications. Guided by DFT, forty configurations involving various electron transport layers (ETLs) and hole transport layers (HTLs) are explored. Among these, CNTS emerges as the prime HTL due to ideal absorber alignment. The spotlight architecture, FTO/AZnO/Cs2AgBiBr6/CNTS/Au, boasts exceptional efficiency (23.5%), Voc (1.38 V), Jsc (21.38 mA cm−2), and FF (79.9%). In contrast, FTO/CdZnS/Cs2AgBiBr6/CNTS/Au achieves a slightly lower 23.15% efficiency. Real‐world intricacies are probed, encompassing resistances, temperature, current–voltage (J–V) traits, and quantum efficiency (QE), enhancing practical relevance. These findings are thoughtfully contextualized within prior literature, showcasing the study's contributions to non‐toxic, inorganic perovskite solar technology. This work aspires to positively steer sustainable PV advancement.

In order to improve results, this work investigates how the Freelance Model (FM), Fractional Derivative (FD), and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) may all function together. We suggest a new method that combines the varied skills of freelancers with the precision of fractional derivatives and the adaptability of neural networks to maximize the benefits of each. This proposed strategy provides a new perspective to the computational methodologies and holds a promising impact on diverse industries. Future developments and applications can be made possible by this promising path toward enhanced performance in complex systems and data-driven areas. Twenty neurons have been selected and data has been trained and validated in the, following manner 70 %, 15 % and 15 %. The consistency of method has been shown using the correlation/regression and histograms in order to solve the model. The results presented here not only validate the efficacy of our approach but also open avenues for further exploration and advancements in the dynamic field of advanced computation.

Abstract Background c-MYC and BCL2 positivity are important prognostic factors for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. However, manual quantification is subject to significant intra- and inter-observer variability. We developed an automated method for quantification in whole-slide images of tissue sections where manual quantification requires evaluating large areas of tissue with possibly heterogeneous staining. We train this method using annotations of tumor positivity in smaller tissue microarray cores where expression and staining are more homogeneous and then translate this model to whole-slide images. Methods Our method applies a technique called attention-based multiple instance learning to regress the proportion of c-MYC-positive and BCL2-positive tumor cells from pathologist-scored tissue microarray cores. This technique does not require annotation of individual cell nuclei and is trained instead on core-level annotations of percent tumor positivity. We translate this model to scoring of whole-slide images by tessellating the slide into smaller core-sized tissue regions and calculating an aggregate score. Our method was trained on a public tissue microarray dataset from Stanford and applied to whole-slide images from a geographically diverse multi-center cohort produced by the Lymphoma Epidemiology of Outcomes study. Results In tissue microarrays, the automated method had Pearson correlations of 0.843 and 0.919 with pathologist scores for c-MYC and BCL2, respectively. When utilizing standard clinical thresholds, the sensitivity/specificity of our method was 0.743 / 0.963 for c-MYC and 0.938 / 0.951 for BCL2. For double-expressors, sensitivity and specificity were 0.720 and 0.974. When translated to the external WSI dataset scored by two pathologists, Pearson correlation was 0.753 & 0.883 for c-MYC and 0.749 & 0.765 for BCL2, and sensitivity/specificity was 0.857/0.991 & 0.706/0.930 for c-MYC, 0.856/0.719 & 0.855/0.690 for BCL2, and 0.890/1.00 & 0.598/0.952 for double-expressors. Survival analysis demonstrates that for progression-free survival, model-predicted TMA scores significantly stratify double-expressors and non double-expressors (p = 0.0345), whereas pathologist scores do not (p = 0.128). Conclusions We conclude that proportion of positive stains can be regressed using attention-based multiple instance learning, that these models generalize well to whole slide images, and that our models can provide non-inferior stratification of progression-free survival outcomes.

Abstract Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 is a non-toxic, earth-abundant photovoltaic absorber. However, its efficiency is limited by a large open circuit voltage (VOC) deficit occurring due to its antisite defects and improper band alignment with toxic CdS buffer. Therefore, finding an absorber and non-toxic buffers that reduce VOC deficit is crucial. Herein, for the first time, Ag2BaTiSe4 is proposed as an alternative absorber using SCAPS-1D wherein a new class of alkaline earth metal chalcogenide such as MgS, CaS, SrS, and BaS is applied as buffers, and their characteristics are compared with CdS to identify their potential and suitability. The buffer and absorber properties are elucidated by tuning their thickness, carrier concentration, and defect density. Interestingly, optimization of the buffer’s carrier concentration suppressed the barrier height and accumulation of charge carriers at the absorber/buffer interface, leading to efficiencies of 18.81%, 17.17%, 20.6%, 20.85%, 20.08% in MgS, CaS, SrS, BaS, and CdS-based solar cells respectively. Upon optimizing Ag2BaTiSe4, MoSe2, and interface defects maximum efficiency of > 28% is achieved with less VOC loss (~ 0.3 V) in all solar cells at absorber’s thickness, carrier concentration, and defect density of 1 µm, 1018 cm−3, 1015 cm−3 respectively, underscoring the promising nature of Ag2BaTiSe4 absorber and new alkaline earth metal chalcogenide buffers in photovoltaics.

Abstract The remarkable structural, optical, and electronic characteristics of inorganic perovskite materials have generated significant enthusiasm within the field of solar technology. The material Ca3PI3 belongs to the same category as inorganic metal halide perovskites. This research utilized the first‐principles density functional theory (FP‐DFT) to examine how the optical and electronic characteristics of Ca3PI3 are impacted by strain. To accurately determine the band arrangement, we incorporated the relativistic spin‐orbit coupling (SOC) effect into our calculations. The planar Ca3PI3 molecule has a direct bandgap of 1.582 eV (PBE) at its Г(gamma)‐point, but while the relativistic SOC effect is included, the bandgap decreases to 1.329 eV. Under compressive strain, the bandgap of all structures decreases, whereas under tensile strain, it increases. The optical characteristics of Ca3PI3, including the dielectric function, absorption coefficient, and electron loss function, indicate its strong absorption capabilities in the visible range, driven by its band properties. Besides, the photon energy spectrum displays a red‐shift (blue‐shift) in the absorption coefficient and dielectric function with increasing amounts of compressive (tensile) strain. Therefore, the study of the strain‐induced optical and electronic characteristics of Ca3PI3 bears valuable implications for its potential use in the design of solar cells and optoelectronic devices.

Contaminants are repeatedly being released into the land, water and air about the world as a consequence of the high levels of human movement and development, which causes a fast an increase in the growing of pollution. In this assessment, activated charcoals supported on Ag–In2O3 nanomaterials were blended by hydrothermal system. The morphology constitution, surface assets and optical description of synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by XRD, UV-DRS, PL, HR-SEM and EDAX, HR-TEM, SAED pattern, FT-IR, XPS, BET, CV and VSM techniques. The optimized heterogeneous catalyst AC/Ag–In2O3 depicts high electro catalytic activity, fast-charge transport development, weak ferromagnetism, brilliant accessibility and stability for Rh6G dye degradation, which is endowed for application in the alkaline medium. The prepared photocatalytic activity towards AC/Ag–In2O3 have been revealed as the degradation of Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) dye in the presence of aqueous solution directed to solar light irradiation. AC/Ag–In2O3 is initiated to maintain some more efficient than synthesized Ag–In2O3 and In2O3 by pH9 positively mineralizing of Rh6G dye under sun light irradiation. The mineralization of Rh6G dye has been confirmed by measuring COD analysis. It is suggested that Rh6G degrades in the presence of solar light via a particular mechanism, which was discovered that the catalyst remained more stable and reusable. It has been effectively determined that the AC/Ag–In2O3 nanomaterial achieves photocatalytic effects.

Minerals and nutrients are vital to life, but their excess can harm health and sometimes lead to life risks. Harmful impact of nutrients in water can be a threat to marine life as well. Waquoit Bay linked with its eight rivers and ponds is becoming the reason for excess nutrient passage into the Bay. Excess amounts of nutrients were found in Waquoit Bay from coastal areas and therefore analyzed in this work by a system of nine differential equations. The main objective of this paper is to develop a mathematical model to assess the situation of pollution in Waquoit Bay and suggest some solutions using optimal control theory with Hamiltonian system. Mathematical Model of water pollution will be evaluated numerically, with different input models to track environmental contamination in a water body. To prove the accuracy of this model, its numerical results will be compared with real data and the impact of control strategies i.e. nutrient control from housing area and bio dredging will be studied. Benefit of developing such mathematical models can be a decision support for planning restrictions in coastal areas near Waquoit Bay.

Abstract The World Health Organization’s R&D Blueprint list of priority diseases for 2022 includes Lassa fever, signifying the need for research and development in emergency contexts. This disease is caused by the arenavirus Lassa virus (LASV). Being an enveloped virus, LASV should be susceptible to a variety of microbicidal actives, although empirical data to support this expectation are needed. We evaluated the virucidal efficacy of sodium hypochlorite, ethanol, a formulated dual quaternary ammonium compound, an accelerated hydrogen peroxide formulation, and a p-chloro-m-xylenol formulation, per ASTM E1052-20, against LASV engineered to express green fluorescent protein (GFP). A 10-μL volume of virus in tripartite soil (bovine serum albumin, tryptone, and mucin) was combined with 50 μL of disinfectant in suspension for 0.5, 1, 5, or 10 min at 20–25 °C. Neutralized test mixtures were quantified by GFP expression to determine log10 reduction. Remaining material was passaged on Vero cells to confirm absence of residual infectious virus. Input virus titers of 6.6–8.0 log10 per assay were completely inactivated by each disinfectant within 1–5 min contact time. The rapid and substantial inactivation of LASV suggests the utility of these microbicides for mitigating spread of infectious virus during Lassa fever outbreaks.

When worn, clothing acquires a microbiome of bacteria and fungi derived from the wearer’s skin and from the environment. The types of bacteria and fungi that may be recovered from clothing in healthcare settings have been well characterized, but less is known regarding the microbiome of clothing worn in non-healthcare settings and the possible roles that such clothing may play in microbial exchange. Culture-based methods and culture-independent genomic sequencing were used to enumerate and identify bacteria and fungi recovered from T-shirts, baby onesies, socks, and underwear worn for a single day after having been purchased new, washed, and dried. The highest bacterial loads were recovered from socks, underwear, and onesies (>106 colony-forming units [cfu]/sample) and the highest fungal loads were obtained from socks and underwear (>5 × 102 cfu/sample). The sequencing method identified opportunistic pathogens present in the samples, including members of genus Staphylococcus and Corynebacterium, as well as anaerobic members of the family Clostridiales. The opportunistic fungal pathogen Candida parapsilosis was identified in a high proportion of worn clothing samples. These results suggest that clothing may represent a pathogen reservoir and a vector for microbial exchange between household occupants or the community outside of the home.

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder caused by various causes and characteristics of chronic hyperglycemia accompanied by impaired carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism resulting from impaired insulin secretion or insulin action. Purpose: Knowing the influence of diabetic wounds on people with Diabetes Mellitus. Method: Quantitative research with analytical survey design with a cross-sectional study approach. Results: Shows the results of the obesity statistical test p-value: 0.001, diet p-value: 0.000, age p-value: 0.000, physical activity p-value: 0.000. Conclusion: Obesity, diet, age and activity affect the occurrence of diabetic wounds in people with Diabetes Mellitus. Increase public knowledge about diabetes mellitus by providing counselling so the community can avoid the disease.

Abstract According to recent reports, planar structure-based organometallic perovskite solar cells (OPSCs) have achieved remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE), making them very competitive with the more traditional silicon photovoltaics. A complete understanding of OPSCs and their individual parts is still necessary for further enhancement in PCE. In this work, indium sulfide (In2S3)-based planar heterojunction OPSCs were proposed and simulated with the SCAPS (a Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator)-1D programme. Initially, OPSC performance was calibrated with the experimentally fabricated architecture (FTO/In2S3/MAPbI3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au) to evaluate the optimum parameters of each layer. The numerical calculations showed a significant dependence of PCE on the thickness and defect density of the MAPbI3 absorber material. The results showed that as the perovskite layer thickness increased, the PCE improved gradually but subsequently reached a maximum at thicknesses greater than 500 nm. Moreover, parameters involving the series resistance as well as the shunt resistance were recognized to affect the performance of the OPSC. Most importantly, a champion PCE of over 20% was yielded under the optimistic simulation conditions. Overall, the OPSC performed better between 20 and 30 °C, and its efficiency rapidly decreases above that temperature.

Perovskite photovoltaics have an immense contribution toward the all-round development of the solar cell. Apart from the flexibility, stability, and high efficiency, more stress has been given to using lead-free as well as eco-friendly, inexpensive materials in the fabrication of PSC devices. The utilization of non-volatile material, such as cesium tin iodide (CsSnI3), can be proposed for designing the PSC device, which not only makes it eco-friendly but also offers better optoelectronic characteristics due to its smaller bandgap of 1.27 eV. The inclusion of Sn in the perovskite material also functions as an increment in the stability of the perovskite. In the present simulation, CsSnI3 is used as an active absorber layer while the ZnMgO is used as an ETL for a cost-effective nature. Similarly, graphene oxide (GO) is used as HTL for a superior collection of holes. The comprehensive numerical modeling of the ZnMgO can be utilized in solar cell designing with appropriate CsSnI3 thickness, working temperature, total defectivity, and resistance impact, respectively. The presently simulated device offers an excellent efficiency of 17.37 % with CsSnI3-based PSC. These results of the study also show an effective route to develop highly efficient lead-free PSC devices.

Conventional Copper Indium Gallium Di Selenide (CIGS)-based solar cells are more efficient than second-generation technology based on hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si: H) or cadmium telluride (CdTe). So, herein the photovoltaic (PV) performance of CIGS-based solar cells has been investigated numerically using SCAPS-1D solar simulator with different buffer layer and less expensive tin sulfide (Sn2S3) back-surface field (BSF). At first, three buffer layer such as cadmium sulfide (CdS), zinc selenide (ZnSe) and indium-doped zinc sulfide ZnS:In have been simulated with CIGS absorber without BSF due to optimized and non-toxic buffer. Then the optimized structure of Al/FTO/ZnS:In/CIGS/Ni is modified to become Al/FTO/ZnS:In/CIGS/Sn2S3/Ni by adding a Sn2S3 BSF to enhanced efficiency. The detailed analysis have been investigated is the influence of physical properties of each absorber and buffer on photovoltaic parameters including layer thickness, carrier doping concentration, bulk defect density, interface defect density. This study emphasizes investigating the reasons for the actual devices' poor performance and illustrates how each device's might vary open-circuit voltage (VOC), short-circuit current density (JSC), fill factor (FF), power conversion efficiency (PCE), and quantum efficiency (QE). The optimized structure offers outstanding power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 21.83 % with only 0.80 μm thick CIGS absorber. The proposed CIGS-based solar cell performs better than the previously reported conventional designs while also reducing CIGS thickness and cost.

Lead-free halide perovskites are a crucial family of materials in the fabrication of solar cells. At present, Solar cells are facing several challenges such as mechanical and thermodynamic instability, toxicity, unsuitable optical parameters, bandgap, and absorption coefficient. Ba3AsI3 is a halide perovskite which has demonstrated good efficiency and tremendous promise for usage in solar cell applications, and it offers a possible solution to these issues. In this study, the properties of the Ba3AsI3 perovskite solar cell were investigated using first-principles density functional theory (FP-DFT) calculations with the CASTEP (Cambridge serial total energy package) formulation. Most of its physical qualities, including its elasticity, electrical composition, bonding, optoelectronic characteristics, and optical characteristics have not yet been explored. In this work, these unexplored properties have been thoroughly investigated using density functional theory-based computations. The Born-Huang criterion and phonon dispersion characteristics have revealed that the material is mechanically stable. The bonding nature has been investigated using the density of states curves, Mulliken population analysis, and electronic charge density. Additionally, different elastic parameters demonstrate that Ba3AsI3 has reasonably high machinability and is mechanically isotropic. ELATE's three-dimensional visualization and optical properties also show isotropic behavior in all directions. The band structure shows that the bandgap is direct. Based on its direct bandgap, stability, large range of absorption coefficient, and suitable optical parameters, Ba3AsI3 is recommended as an absorber layer for solar cell fabrication in a near future.

During the recent pandemic of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), influential public health agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have favored the view that SARS CoV-2 spreads predominantly via droplets. Many experts in aerobiology have openly opposed that stance, forcing a vigorous debate on the topic. In this review, we discuss the various proposed modes of viral transmission, stressing the interdependencies between droplet, aerosol, and fomite spread. Relative humidity and temperature prevailing determine the rates at which respiratory aerosols and droplets emitted from an expiratory event (sneezing, coughing, etc.) evaporate to form smaller droplets or aerosols, or experience hygroscopic growth. Gravitational settling of droplets may result in contamination of environmental surfaces (fomites). Depending upon human, animal and mechanical activities in the occupied space indoors, viruses deposited on environmental surfaces may be re-aerosolized (re-suspended) to contribute to aerosols, and can be conveyed on aerial particulate matter such as dust and allergens. The transmission of respiratory viruses may then best be viewed as resulting from dynamic virus spread from infected individuals to susceptible individuals by various physical states of active respiratory emissions, instead of the current paradigm that emphasizes separate dissemination by respiratory droplets, aerosols or by contaminated fomites. To achieve the optimum outcome in terms of risk mitigation and infection prevention and control (IPAC) during seasonal infection peaks, outbreaks, and pandemics, this holistic view emphasizes the importance of dealing with all interdependent transmission modalities, rather than focusing on one modality.

This study employs Machine Learning (ML) techniques to optimize the performance of Perovskite Solar Cells (PSCs) by identifying the ideal materials and properties for high Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE). Utilizing a dataset of 3000 PSC samples from previous experiments, the Random Forest (RF) technique classifies and predicts PCE as the target variable. The dataset includes various features encompassing cell architecture, substrate materials, electron transport layer (ETL) attributes, perovskite characteristics, hole transport layer (HTL) properties, back contact specifics, and encapsulation materials. ML-driven analysis reveals novel, highly efficient PSC configurations, such as Fe2O3/CsPbBrI2/NiO-mp/Carbon, CdS/FAMAPbI3/NiO–C/Au, and PCBM-60/Phen-NaDPO/MAPbI3/asy-PBTBDT/Ag. Additionally, the study investigates the impact of crucial parameters like perovskite bandgap, ETL thickness, thermal annealing temperature, and back contact thickness on device performance. The predictive model exhibits high accuracy (86.4 % R2) and low mean square error (1.3 MSE). Notably, the ML-recommended structure, SnO2/CsFAMAPbBrI/Spiro-OmeTAD/Au, achieves an impressive efficiency of around 23 %. Beyond performance improvements, the research explores the integration of ML into the manufacturing and quality control processes of PSCs. These findings hold promise for enhancing conversion yields, reducing defects, and ensuring consistent PSC performance, contributing to the advancement of this renewable energy technology.

Abstract Cesium tin chloride (CsSnCl3) is a potential and competitive absorber material for lead-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The full potential of CsSnCl3 not yet been realized owing to the possible challenges of defect-free device fabrication, non-optimized alignment of the electron transport layer (ETL), hole transport layer (HTL), and the favorable device configuration. In this work, we proposed several CsSnCl3-based solar cell (SC) configurations using one dimensional solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS-1D) with different competent ETLs like indium–gallium–zinc–oxide (IGZO), tin-dioxide (SnO2), tungsten disulfide (WS2), ceric dioxide (CeO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2), zinc oxide (ZnO), C60, PCBM, and HTLs of cuprous oxide (Cu2O), cupric oxide (CuO), nickel oxide (NiO), vanadium oxide (V2O5), copper iodide (CuI), CuSCN, CuSbS2, Spiro MeOTAD, CBTS, CFTS, P3HT, PEDOT:PSS. Simulation results revealed that ZnO, TiO2, IGZO, WS2, PCBM, and C60 ETLs-based halide perovskites with ITO/ETLs/CsSnCl3/CBTS/Au heterostructure exhibited outstanding photoconversion efficiency retaining nearest photovoltaic parameters values among 96 different configurations. Further, for the six best-performing configurations, the effect of the CsSnCl3 absorber and ETL thickness, series and shunt resistance, working temperature, impact of capacitance, Mott–Schottky, generation and recombination rate, current–voltage properties, and quantum efficiency on performance were assessed. We found that ETLs like TiO2, ZnO, and IGZO, with CBTS HTL can act as outstanding materials for the fabrication of CsSnCl3-based high efficiency (η ≥ 22%) heterojunction SCs with ITO/ETL/CsSnCl3/CBTS/Au structure. The simulation results obtained by the SCAPS-1D for the best six CsSnCl3-perovskites SC configurations were compared by the wxAMPS (widget provided analysis of microelectronic and photonic structures) tool for further validation. Furthermore, the structural, optical and electronic properties along with electron charge density, and Fermi surface of the CsSnCl3 perovskite absorber layer were computed and analyzed using first-principle calculations based on density functional theory. Thus, this in-depth simulation paves a constructive research avenue to fabricate cost-effective, high-efficiency, and lead-free CsSnCl3 perovskite-based high-performance SCs for a lead-free green and pollution-free environment.

Abstract Copper iodide (CuI) thin films were prepared on a glass substrate by a facile high pressure (HP)‐PECVD method at room temperature. For this, CuI powder was dissolved in CH3CN. The CuI vapor with plasma was investigated by Optical Emission Spectroscopic (OES) data for identifying the species in the plasma. The XRD study reveals the polycrystalline nature of the films. The SEM analyses indicate the homogeneity of the films. The EDS mapping confirms that the thin films mostly consisted of carbon followed by nitrogen, copper and iodine, respectively. The band gaps of CuI thin films were in the range of ~2.71–3.14 eV. The high transmittance and band gap engineering in HP‐PECVD‐synthesized CuI thin films indicates their potential use as window and hole transport layers in low cost solar cells.

Recently, inorganic perovskite materials have been attracting increasing attention owing to their exceptional structural, electronic, and optical characteristics in photovoltaic technology. Ca3AsI3 is a semiconductor material that shares similarities with the group of inorganic metal halide perovskites. Ca3AsI3 possesses a perovskite crystal structure that is cubic, which is classified under the space group Pm-3m (no. 221). Our research aims to analyze how the optical and electronic properties of Ca3AsI3 are influenced by spin–orbit coupling (SOC) and strain using the first-principles density-functional theory. The inorganic Ca3AsI3 perovskite has an electronic band structure that possesses a direct bandgap of roughly 1.58 eV at the Γ(gamma)-point. However, when the SOC relativistic effect is introduced, this value decreases to around 1.27 eV. As the level of compressive strain is increased, the bandgap becomes narrower, whereas with increasing tensile strain, the bandgap becomes wider. It has been observed through analysis of the dielectric functions, absorption coefficient, and electron loss function of these materials that the optical properties give Ca3AsI3 the ability to effectively absorb visible light. According to the study, the dielectric constant peaks of Ca3AsI3 shift toward a lower photon energy (redshift) as the level of compressive strain increases. On the other hand, when subjected to increased tensile strain, these peaks have a tendency to shift toward a higher photon energy (blueshift), as per the same study. Modifying the energy gap of Ca3AsI3 perovskites to suit optoelectronic and solar cell needs could be achieved by using techniques involving the SOC effect and by applying strain. These approaches have the potential to enable utilization of Ca3AsI3 in such applications in the future.

In recent years, inorganic perovskite materials have attracted a lot of attention in the field of solar technology due to their exceptional structural, optical, and electronic properties. This study thoroughly investigated, using first-principles density-functional theory (FP-DFT), the impact of compressive and tensile strain on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of the inorganic cubic perovskite Sr3AsI3. The unstrained planar Sr3AsI3 molecule exhibits a direct bandgap of 1.265 eV value at Γ point. The bandgap of the Sr3AsI3 perovskite is lowered to 1.212 eV when the relativistic spin-orbital coupling (SOC) effect is subjected in the observations. In addition, the structure's bandgap exhibits a falling prevalence due to compressive strain and a slight rise due to tensile strain. The optical indicators such as dielectric functions, absorption coefficient, reflectivity, and electron loss function show that this component has a great ability to absorb in the visible range in accordance with band characteristics. When compressive strain is raised, it is discovered that the spikes of the dielectric constant of Sr3AsI3 move to lower photon energy (redshift), and conversely, while growing tensile strain, it exhibits increased photon energy changing behavior (blueshift). As a result, the Sr3AsI3 perovskite is regarded as being ideal for use in solar cells for the production of electricity and light management.

Although clothes washing machines remove dirt, microorganisms are not reliably removed by modern cold-water machine-washing practices. Microbial bioburden on clothing originates from the wearer’s skin, the environment (indoor and outdoor), and the washing machine itself. While most clothing microbes are commensals, microbes causing odors and opportunistic pathogens may also be present. Understanding the extent of microbial transfer from washing machines to clothes may inform strategies for odor control and for mitigating the transmission of microbes through the laundering process. This study was designed to quantify and identify bacteria/fungi transferred from laundromat machines to sentinel cotton washcloths under standard cold-water conditions. Bacterial 16S rRNA and fungal ITS sequencing enabled identification of microorganisms in the washcloths following laundering. Total plate-based enumeration of viable microorganisms also was performed, using growth media appropriate for bacteria and fungi. Opportunistic human bacterial pathogens, including Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp., were recovered. The fungal bioburden was ~two-fold lower than the bacterial bioburden. Most sequences recovered were assigned to non-pathogenic fungi, such as those from genera Malassezia and Ascomycota. These results suggest that public washing machines represent a source of non-pathogenic and pathogenic microbial contamination of laundered garments.

Conductive textiles have found notable applications as electrodes and sensors capable of detecting biosignals like the electrocardiogram (ECG), electrogastrogram (EGG), electroencephalogram (EEG), and electromyogram (EMG), etc; other applications include electromagnetic shielding, supercapacitors, and soft robotics. There are several classes of materials that impart conductivity, including polymers, metals, and non-metals. The most significant materials are Polypyrrole (PPy), Polyaniline (PANI), Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), carbon, and metallic nanoparticles. The processes of making conductive textiles include various deposition methods, polymerization, coating, and printing. The parameters, such as conductivity and electromagnetic shielding, are prerequisites that set the benchmark for the performance of conductive textile materials. This review paper focuses on the raw materials that are used for conductive textiles, various approaches that impart conductivity, the fabrication of conductive materials, testing methods of electrical parameters, and key technical applications, challenges, and future potential.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are recently getting high attention from different researchers due to increasing traffic problems, especially in densely populated countries. Increasing rates of accidents call for an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) with efficient performance to reduce and mitigate this trend. The required enhancement of the ITS can be more focused on traffic performance, integrity, and reduction of the vehicles’ CO2 emissions. Existing routing protocols for VANETs consider different situations and methods to establish reliable communication between the vehicles and infrastructures. However other situations have not been addressed carefully like the link stability between vehicles during packet exchange. This paper develops an Obstacle Prediction Based Routing Protocol (OPBRP) for vehicle detection, packets transmission to Roadside Units (RSU) and choosing a better route in terms of reliability via using vehicle's Kinematics and Mobility prediction in VANET. Two fundamental contributions are included in this paper: (1) Upgrading prediction routing protocol to transfer packets using a reliable path, and (2) Adding new logic in choosing the intermediate nodes to the destination to achieve a higher Packet delivery ratio (PDR). The OPBRP uses the predictive greedy as forwarding algorithm and the predictive perimeter forwarding as recovery algorithm after introducing enhancements to both algorithms to meet the requirements of VANETs environment. To materialize the value achieved from the mentioned contributions we tested the newly developed OPBRP against the existing routing protocols using Vehicle in Network Simulation (Veins) which shows that our proposed protocol outperformed current existing routing protocols in terms of PDR by achieving 18.46% improvement, end-to-end delay (E2E-Delay) by achieving 10.51% improvement, and total power consumption used in transmission by achieving 23.80% improvement.

The quaternary compound copper manganese tin sulfide Cu2MnSnS4 is a potential absorber semiconductor material for fabricating thin film solar cells (TFSC) thanks to their promising optoelectronic parameters. This article numerically investigated the performance of Cu2MnSnS4 (CMTS)-based TFSC without and with tin sulphide (SnS) back surface field (BSF) thin-film layer. First, the impact of several major influential parameters such as the active material's thickness, doping concentration of photoactive materials, density of bulk and interface defect, working temperature, and metal contact, were studied systematically without a BSF layer. Thereafter, the photovoltaic performance of the optimized pristine cell was further investigated with an SnS as BSF inserted between the absorber (CMTS) with a Platinum back metal of an optimized heterostructure of Cu/ZnO:Al/i-ZnO/n-CdS/p-Cu2MnSnS4/Pt. Thus, the photoconversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.43% with a JSC of 34.41nullmA/cm2 and VOC of 0.883 V was achieved under AM1.5G solar spectrum without SnS BSF layer. Furthermore, an improved PCE of 31.4% with a JSC of 36.21nullmA/cm2 and VOC of 1.07 V was achieved with a quantum efficiency of over 85% in the wavelengths of 450–1000 nm by the addition of SnS BSF layer. Thus, this obtained systematic and consistent outcomes reveal immense potential of CMTS with SnS as absorber and BSF, respectively and provide imperious guidance for fabricating highly a massive potential efficient solar cell.

Abstract Infectious prion diseases have very long incubation periods, and the role that subclinical infections play in transmission, persistence and re-emergence of these diseases is unclear. In this study, we used a well-established model of vCJD (sheep experimentally infected with bovine spongiform encephalopathy, BSE) to determine the prevalence of subclinical infection following exposure by blood transfusion from infected donors. Many recipient sheep survived for years post-transfusion with no clinical signs and no disease-associated PrP (PrPSc) found in post mortem tissue samples by conventional tests. Using a sensitive protein misfolding cyclic amplification assay (PMCA), we found that the majority of these sheep had detectable PrPSc in lymph node samples, at levels approximately 105–106 times lower than in equivalent samples from clinically positive sheep. Further testing revealed the presence of PrPSc in other tissues, including brain, but not in blood samples. The results demonstrate that subclinical infection is a frequent outcome of low dose prion infection by a clinically relevant route for humans (blood transfusion). The long term persistence of low levels of infection has important implications for prion disease control and the risks of re-emergent infections in both humans and animals.

During the past few years, freelancing has grown exponentially due to the pandemic and subsequent economical changes in the world. In fact, in the last ten years, a drastic increase in freelancing has been observed; people quit their jobs to be their own boss. There are various reasons for this: downsizing of employees, not having fun in their jobs, unemployment, part time work to earn more, etc. Observing this vast change, many individuals on Facebook/YouTube, NGOs, and government departments started teaching freelancing as a course; to date, thousands of youngsters have been trained to start their careers as freelancers. It has been observed that the ratio of informed freelancers is more successful than those who start their careers independently. We construct a compartmental model to explore the influence of information on the expansion of freelancing in this article, which was motivated by this surge in freelancing. Following that, the model is subjected to dynamical analysis utilizing dynamical systems and differential equation theory. To validate our analytical conclusions, we used numerical simulation.

Copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS)-based solar cells have exhibited greater performance than the ones utilizing cadmium telluride (CdTe) or hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si: H) as the absorber. CIGS-based devices are more efficient, considering their device performance, environmentally benign nature, and reduced cost. In this article, we proposed a potential CIGS-absorber-based solar cell with an FTO/ZnSe/CIGS/V2O5/Cu heterostructure, with a V2O5 back-surface field (BSF) layer, SnO2:F (FTO) window layer, and ZnSe buffer layer. Using the solar cell capacitance simulator one-dimensional simulation software, the effects of the presence of the BSF layer, the thickness, bulk defect density, and acceptor density of the absorber layer, buffer layer thickness, interfacial defect density, device resistance, and operating temperature on the open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, fill factor, and efficiency, as well as on the quantum efficiency and recombination and generation rate, of the device have been explored in detail. The simulation results revealed that only a 1 μm-thick-CIGS absorber layer with V2O5 BSF and ZnSe buffer layers in this structure offers an outstanding efficiency of 31.86% with a VOC of ∼0.9 V. Thus, these outcomes of the CIGS-based proposed heterostructure provide an insightful pathway for fabricating high-efficiency solar cells with performance more promising than the previously reported conventional designs.

Introduction Epilepsy is a neurologic condition characterized by spontaneous jerky body movements. It is a chronic morbid condition mostly diagnosed during childhood. Patients are maintained on long-term medications to prevent recurrent seizures that can damage the brain. Medications used for the management of epilepsy have several side effects and require proper monitoring. Patients with epilepsy are at increased risk of psychiatric comorbidities. Objectives Our aim is to find factors responsible for causing suicidality in patients with epilepsy. Methods A review was conducted using Pubmed database with the search terms [epilepsy] OR [neurological conditions] OR [suicide] OR [suidical attempt] OR [suicidal ideation] OR [depression] OR [psychiatric diseases] OR [mood disorders] OR [anxiety] OR [sleeplessness] which yielded around 800 articles. The number was later reduced to be centered around the main area of interest and produced around 40 articles. Results Results show that many contributing factors play an unavoidable role in promoting suicidal ideation that can lead to suicidal attempts in epilepsy. The stigma associated with epilepsy leads to social isolation, lack of opportunities, financial constraints, and impact on close relationships which can be the reasons for depression. According to the review, the foremost contributing factor is the underlying social, emotional, and economic condition of epilepsy patients. Depression and anxiety are the most prevalent psychiatric comorbidities in epileptic patients. Epileptic patients who develop psychiatric ailments show decreased adherence to medications that further worsen the problem. Conclusions Though, this area in neurology has started getting attention for further research and guidelines. But efforts are still inadequate for this to be put into clinical practice. More desperate actions needed to be taken for proper diagnosis and management of suicidal ideations by proper use of assessment tools so that timely actions are planned. Introduction After the introduction of proposal regarding cannabidiol for the treatment of some psychiatric disorders including anxiety, there is confusion if cannabidiol use is associated with the provocation of anxiety symptoms or it can be safely used for the treatment. In nonmedical terms, (Cannabidiol) Cannabis is referred to as Marijuana and has been considered a potential substance of abuse for ages, that raises few questions for its use as a treating agent. It is an interesting area to be explored. Objectives Our aim is to find out the implications of Cannabidiol use. We look forward to knowing the mechanism behind cannabidiol being a potential treatment strategy for anxiety. Methods A literature search was conducted using the search terms [anxiety] OR [cannabis] OR[ Marijuana] OR [cannabidiol] OR [tetrahydrocannabinol] OR [phytocannabinoids] OR [panic] OR [generalized anxiety] OR [social anxiety] OR [psycholgic distress] OR[psychosis] OR [depression]. The overall search produced 230 results. We included 30 studies relevant to the subject in this review. Results Results revealed that anxiety is highly prevalent in individuals with a history of cannabidiol use in comparison to non-users. Symptoms of stress are more pronounced with more frequent cannabidiol use. Chronic users present with more severe symptoms like palpitations and the constant restlessness that are difficult to be managed. The potential role of Cannabinoids in reducing the conditioning of fear can be considered one of the reasons for investigations being done on it. Cannabidiol (Cb1) receptor plays a potential role in producing anxiolytic effects. The side effects of first-line drugs like distorted body shape due to weight gain, sexual health concerns and resistance along with frequent relapses, available for managing anxiety disorders are one of the reasons to consider alternative substances. Though, human testings are still underway, animal models are used currently for experimentation purposes and show positive anxiolytic effects of cannabidiol. Conclusions There is increased need to investigate necessary chemical and physiologic changes that are produced within the body in response to cannabidiol use. More investigations should be done on human subjects along with animal studies. Proper guidelines should be shared with practicing physicians so that new and pretested ways are open for the treatment of resistant cases with proper implications of knowledge in clinical settings so that there is minimal chance of abuse of potentially addictive chemicals. Abstract The clothes laundering process affords numerous opportunities for dissemination of infectious virus from contaminated clothing to appliance surfaces and other household surfaces and eventually to launderer’s hands. We have explored the efficacy of laundry sanitizers for inactivating coronaviruses and influenza viruses. Virucidal efficacy was tested using standardized suspension inactivation methods (EN 14476) or hard-surface inactivation methods (ASTM E1053-20) against SARS-CoV-2, human coronavirus 229E (HCoV 229E), influenza A virus (2009-H1N1 A/Mexico), or influenza B virus (B/Hong Kong). Efficacy was measured in terms of log10 reduction in infectious virus titer, after 15 min contact time (suspension studies) or 5 min contact time (hard surface studies) at 20 ± 1 °C. In liquid suspension studies, laundry sanitizers containing p-chloro-m-xylenol (PCMX) or quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) caused complete inactivation (≥ 4 log10) of HCoV 229E and SARS-CoV-2 within 15 min contact time at 20 ± 1 °C. In hard surface studies, complete inactivation (≥ 4 log10) of each coronavirus or influenza virus, including SARS-CoV-2, was observed following a 5-min contact time at 20 ± 1 °C. Respiratory viruses may remain infectious on clothing/fabrics and environmental surfaces for hours to days. The use of a laundry sanitizer containing microbicidal actives may afford mitigation of the risk of contamination of surfaces during handling of the laundry and washing appliances (i.e., washer/dryer or basin), adjacent surfaces, the waste water stream, and the hands of individuals handling clothes contaminated with SARS-CoV-2, influenza viruses, or other emerging enveloped viruses.

Antimony (Sb) chalcogenides such as antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) and antimony sulfide (Sb2S3) have distinct properties to be used as absorber semiconductors for harnessing solar energy including high absorption coefficient, tunable bandgap, low toxicity, phase stability. The potentiality of Sb2Se3 and Sb2S3 as absorber material in Al/FTO/Sb2Se3(or Sb2S3)/Au heterojunction solar cells (HJSCs) with 2D tungsten disulfide (WS2) electron transport layer (ETL) layer has been investigated numerically using SCAPS-1D solar simulator. A systematic investigation of the impact of physical properties of each active material of Sb2Se3, Sb2S3, and WS2 on photovoltaic parameters including layer thickness, carrier doping concentration, bulk defect density, interface defect density, carrier generation, and recombination. This study emphasizes the exploration of causes of low performance of actual devices and demonstrates the individual variation in the open-circuit voltage (VOC), short-circuit current density (JSC), fill factor (FF), power conversion efficiency (PCE) and quantum efficiency (QE). Thereby, highly potential heterostructures of Al/FTO/WS2/absorber (Sb2Se3 or Sb2S3)/Au proposed, in which, the PCE over 28.20 and 26.60% obtained with VOC of 850 and 1230 mV, Jsc of 38.0 and 24.0 mA/cm2, and FF of 86.0 and 89.0% for Sb2Se3 and Sb2S3 absorber, respectively. These detailed findings revealed that the Sb-chalcogenide heterostructure with potential WS2 ETL can be used to realize the fabrication of feasible thin film solar cells and thus the design of high-efficiency high-current (HEHC) and high-efficiency high-voltage (HEHV) solar panels.

This study has explored numerous physical properties of CaPd3Ti4O12 (CPTO) and CaPd3V4O12 (CPVO) quadruple perovskites employing the density functional theory (DFT) method. The calculated lattice constants show inclinable compliance with the experimental results that ensure their structural stability. The mechanical permanence of these two compounds was observed by the Born stability criteria as well. The mechanical and elastic behaviors have been rationalized to investigate elastic constants, bulk, shear, and Young’s modulus, Pugh’s ratio, Poisson’s ratio, and elastic anisotropy indexes. The ductility and anisotropic indexes confirm that both materials are ductile and anisotropic in essence. The band structure of CPTO reveals a 0.88 and 0.46 eV direct narrow band gap while using TB-mBJ and GGA-PBE potentials, respectively, which is an indication of its fascinating semiconducting nature. Whereas, CPVO perovskite exhibits a metallic character. The calculated partial density of states indicates the strong hybridization between Pd-4d and O-2p orbital electrons for CPTO, whereas Pd-4d and V-3d-O-2p for CPVO. The study of the chemical bonding nature and electronic charge distribution graph reveals the coexistence of covalent O-V/Pd bonds, ionic O-Ti/Ca bonds, as well as metallic Ti/V-Ti/V bonding for both compounds. The Fermi surface of CPVO ensures a kind of hole as well as electron faces simultaneously, indicating multifarious band characteristics. The prediction of the static real dielectric function (optical property) of CPTO at zero energy implies its promising dielectric nature. The photoconductivity and absorption coefficient of CPBO display good qualitative compliance with the consequences of band structure computations. The calculated thermodynamic properties manifest the thermodynamical stability for CPBO, whereas phonon dispersions of CPVO exhibit stable phonon dispersion in contrast to slightly unstable phonon dispersion of CPTO. The predicted Debye temperature (θD) has been utilized to correlate its topical features including thermoelectric behaviors. The studied thermoelectric transport properties of CPTO yielded a higher Seebeck coefficient (186 μV/K), power factor (11.9 μWcm−1K−2), and figure of merit (ZT) value of about 0.8 at 800 K, indicating that this material could be a promising candidate for thermoelectric applications.

Inorganic CdTe and FeSi2-based solar cells have recently drawn a lot of attention because they offer superior thermal stability and good optoelectronic properties compared to conventional solar cells. In this work, a unique alternative technique is presented by using FeSi2 as a secondary absorber layer and In2S3 as the window layer for improving photovoltaic performance parameters. Simulating on SCAPS-1D, the proposed double-absorber (Cu/FTO/In2S3/CdTe/FeSi2/Ni) structure is thoroughly examined and analyzed. The window layer thickness, absorber layer thickness, acceptor density (NA), donor density (ND), defect density (Nt), series resistance (RS), and shunt resistance (Rsh) were simulated in detail for optimization of the above configuration to improve the PV performance. According to this study, 0.5 µm is the optimized thickness for both the CdTe and FeSi2 absorber layers in order to maximize the efficiency (η). Here, the value of the optimum window layer thickness is 50 nm. For using CdTe as a single absorber, η is achieved by 13.26%. However, for using CdTe and FeSi2 as a dual absorber, η is enhanced and the obtaining value is 27.35%. The other parameters are also improved and the resultant value for the fill factor is 83.68%, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) is 0.6566 V, and the short circuit current density (Jsc) is 49.78 mA/cm2. Furthermore, the proposed model performs well at 300 K operating temperature. The addition of the FeSi2 layer to the cell structure has resulted in a significant quantum efficiency enhancement because of the rise in solar spectrum absorption at longer wavelengths (λ). The findings of this work offer a promising approach for producing high-performance and reasonably priced CdTe-based solar cells.
