The interaction between phosphorus (IV) dithio acid partial esters and thiocyanates proceeds with initial formation of addition products to the C[dbnd]N bond. These adducts are either split by the second molecule of dithio acid to S-alkyl dithiocarbamates and tetraalkyl trithiopyrophosphates or rearrange into dialkyl N-thiophosphoryldithiocarbamates. The latter easily split off the thiols and convert to isothiocyanatothiophosphates. A number of thiophosphorylated and diphosphorylated thioureas were synthesized by the reaction of isothiocyanatothiophosphates with amines and α-aminoalkylphosphonates.

The review surveys instances of the reversible and irreversible migration of phosphoryl groups (P=O, P=S, P=N–) between two heteroatoms (N, O, S, and Se); this type of rearrangement is characterised by retention of the coordination number of the phosphorus atom. The rearrangements of phosphorylated aminoalcohols, mercaptoalcohols, oximes, and the products of the addition of partially esterified acids of tetracoordinate phosphorus to cyano-compounds, carbodiimides, and keten imines, proceeding via a stage involving the formation of unstable phosphoranes are considered. Much attention is devoted to tautomeric processes in which the phosphoryl, thiophosphoryl, and iminophosphoryl groups are the migrating moieties. The bibliography includes 109 references.

The interaction of O,O-diisopropyl dithiophosphate with benzonitrile, phenylacetonitrile, adipodinitrile, and ethyl cyanoacetate proceeds with the formation of unstable imidoyldithiophosphates, which are capable of being rearranged to form the corresponding phosphorylated thioamides. The further course of the reaction is associated with the splitting of the P-N-C or P-S-C bonds in the N-(O,O-diisopropylthiophosphonyl)thioamides and probably of the imidoyldithiophosphates under the action of a second molecule of the dithio acid.

Current data on the synthesis, structures, the activities, and practical applications of the isothiocyanates of tricoordinate, tetracoordinate, pentacoordinate, and hexacoordinate phosphorus acids and N-phosphorylated and N-thiophosphorylated thiocarbamates, dithiocarbamates, and thioureas are examined and surveyed. 1. Diethyl esters of certain substituted benzoylphosphonic acids and diethyl(diphenyl)benzoylphosphine oxides were synthesized, and their dipole moments were determined. 2. The steric structure of the investigated compounds was established. 3. Interaction of the substituents in the benzene ring of diethyl esters of benzoylphosphonic acids with the diethoxyphosphono group was detected.
