Due to the increasing number of patients and complexity of modern tachycardia devices, efficient therapy monitoring as offered by telemedicine monitoring is of increasing importance. The potential advantages of remote control for patient management include early detection of device-related technical problems and arrhythmias. We report the case of an ICD patient with incessant ventricular tachycardia in whom immediate arrhythmia transmission was monitored by remote control.

As hydrocarbon exploration is moving to more geologically challenging areas, the combination and integration of different geophysical data types is often used to improve imaging and to minimize risk. While seismic data in principle provide good resolution, complicated 3D geological structures e.g., basalt structures, may severely affect illumination and imaging. Gravity and magnetics are not affected by basalt structures, but are highly non-unique. Controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) prospecting has been established as a new method for directly identifying commercial oil or gas accumulation. The technique is applied in increasingly complex subsurface settings, and is not affected by basalt structures. However, the relatively low frequencies that are required to achieve sufficient depth penetration only allow low resolution imaging. We present our multi-parameter joint inversion approach including seismic, gravity, magnetics, and CSEM, combining the advantages of the individual methods. The vital link between the different models is established using a structural approach based on cross-gradients (e.g., Gallardo and Meju, 2003). The resulting models are uncontaminated by a priori defined empirical relationships between the parameters of the individual models. We present the method and applications to synthetic but realistic sub-basalt data based on the Norwegian Mřre margin.

Gas clouds may considerably distort the energy of P-waves travelling through them. This complicates imaging, and particularly velocity estimation. When seismic data cannot be used a priori information may help to estimate a satisfying model. Stereotomography is a flexible tool, but the parameterization of the estimated model by cubic B-splines makes the introduction of a priori information difficult. Here, we use a hybrid model, consisting of a smooth layered model and some smooth variations on top of it. This model parameterization is smooth, allowing the use of paraxial ray tracing, and is at the same time connected to some layers, allowing the introduction of a priori information. By using such a model parameterization, we show that we can significantly improve the estimated results on a 2D dataset, which exhibits a low signal-to-noise ratio of the PP-data underneath a gas cloud at the Snohvit gas field.
