In this paper, we demonstrate that compactification in M-theory can lead to a deformation of field theory consistent with the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). We observe that the matter fields in the M3-brane action contain higher derivative terms. We demonstrate that such terms can also be constructed from a reformulation of the field theory by the GUP. In fact, we will construct the Heisenberg algebra consistent with this deformation, and explicitly demonstrate it to be the Heisenberg algebra obtained from the GUP. The low-energy description of wrapped M5 branes in compactifications of M-theory on a Calabi-Yau threefold times a circle is given by a conformal field theory studied by Maldacena, Strominger and Witten and known as the MSW CFT. Taking the threefold to be $$ {\mathbb{T}}_6 $$ or $$ \mathrm{K}3\times {\mathbb{T}}^2 $$ , we construct a map between a sub-sector of this CFT and a sub-sector of the D1-D5 CFT. We demonstrate this map by considering a set of D1-D5 CFT states that have smooth horizonless bulk duals, and explicitly constructing the supergravity solutions dual to the corresponding states of the MSW CFT. We thus obtain the largest known class of solutions dual to MSW CFT microstates, and demonstrate that five-dimensional ungauged supergravity admits much larger families of smooth horizonless solutions than previously known. The probability distributions, as well as the mean values of stochastic currents and fluxes, associated with a driven Langevin process, provide a good and topologically protected measure of how far a stochastic system is driven out of equilibrium. By viewing a Langevin process on a compact oriented manifold of arbitrary dimension m as a theory of a random vector field associated with the environment, we are able to consider stochastic motion of higher-dimensional objects, which allow new observables, called higher-dimensional currents, to be introduced. These higher dimensional currents arise by counting intersections of a k -dimensional trajectory, produced by a evolving ( k - 1 ) -dimensional cycle, with a reference cross section, represented by a cycle of complimentary dimension ( m - k ) . We further express the mean fluxes in terms of the solutions of the Supersymmetric Fokker–Planck (SFP), thus generalizing the corresponding well-known expressions for the conventional currents.
