Background/Aims International interest in development of treat-to-target (T2T) in both childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) and adult-onset SLE (aSLE) is increasing. T2T could facilitate more effective and structured use of treatments, aggressively controlling disease activity, preventing organ damage, and improving health-related quality of life. The first step is the selection of an appropriate target. Remission is deemed the ultimate target, but may not be attainable by all. Low disease activity (LDA), based on the principle of “tolerable” disease activity on stable treatment, with low corticosteroid dosage, may be more appropriate for some patients. The aim of this study was to derive a consensus-based cSLE appropriate definition of LDA, building upon existing aSLE definitions to improve applicability to cSLE, whilst maintaining sufficient unity to ensure that future T2T studies including adolescents and adults together are possible. Methods The International cSLE T2T Task Force, including 18 specialists from paediatric rheumatology/nephrology, and adult rheumatology undertook a series of Delphi surveys, exploring views on aSLE LDA targets. Two virtual consensus meetings were held, utilising a modified nominal group technique to debate, modify, and vote upon topics underpinning the cSLE LDA target and its criteria. Agreement of > 80% was considered consensus. Results The task force agreed that the LDA target should encompass cSLE as a whole and be based upon the aSLE Lupus Low Disease Activity State definition (LLDAS), with modifications to make it more applicable to cSLE (cLLDAS, all 100% agreement). A conceptual definition of cLLDAS was defined: ‘A state, which if sustained, is associated with a low likelihood of adverse outcome (considering disease activity, damage, and medication toxicity)’ (100% agreement). Five cLLDAS criteria were agreed, as detailed within Table 1. The final cLLDAS definition was endorsed by the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS) Executive Council and PReS cSLE Working Party Chair, on behalf of the Society. Conclusion A cSLE, age-appropriate definition of cLLDAS has been generated, preserving sufficient unity with the aSLE LLDAS definition to encourage life-course research. Introduction Many people with parkinsonism require care as the disease progresses with much provided unpaid by family and friends. Caring for someone can have a negative impact on physical and psychosocial wellbeing. Caregiver burden can impact ability to continue this role, which can precipitate hospitalisation or institutionalisation of the recipient. Methods In this single-site study, primary, informal caregivers, defined as those providing any care or support, were enrolled alongside the person with parkinsonism or individually. Self-reported questionnaires included the 22-item Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), which can range from 0-88, with higher scores representing greater burden. Linear regression was used to explore the association between recipient characteristics/need and caregiver burden. Results Of 1,032 eligible patients approached, 813 participants indicated whether they had an informal caregiver (708) or not (105). 376 caregivers consented (53.1%), of whom 321 have returned questionnaires, with patient data available for 296. The median age of caregivers was 73.0 (range 27.0- 91.1 years), 237 (73.8%) female. 274 (85.4%) were the spouse/partner of the patient. 215 (67.0%) were the sole caregiver. The median time per week spent caring was 21 hours (interquartile range 7, 41 hours). 18 (5.6%) of caregivers provided 24-hour care daily and 113 (35.2%) had provided support for over 5 years. Median ZBI score was 17, (interquartile range 7-29). The care recipient’s duration of parkinsonism was associated with higher burden score (0.38 increase per year of parkinsonism; 95% CI 0.07, 0.69; p value 0.015), as was the time per week spent caring (0.16 increase for each additional hour; 95% CI 0.11, 0.20; p value Conclusions Many informal caregivers in this study were the sole caregiver and many were themselves older adults. Burden increased with increasing duration of parkinsonism and as time spent caring increased. This highlights the ongoing need to improve support for this group.

This manuscript provides an update on clinical and pathophysiological features of juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosis (jSLE), challenges applying adult-derived classification criteria, and recent advances in treatment and care.Significant scientific advances have improved the understanding of genetic factors (both genetic causes and risk alleles) and associated phenotypic features. Panels of urine/blood biomarker candidates aid in diagnosing jSLE, monitoring disease activity and predicting treatment response. Available classification criteria have been extensively assessed, with differences in clinical and immunological phenotypes of patients across age groups and ethnicities affecting their performance in jSLE. Therapeutic options remain limited and are based on protocols for adult-onset SLE patients. International efforts to inform development of a treat-to-target (T2T) approach for jSLE have yielded cohort-level evidence that target attainment reduces the risk of severe flare and new damage, and treatment compliance.Recent studies have significantly improved our understanding of jSLE pathogenesis, highlighting important differences between jSLE and adult SLE, and providing the basis of biomarker development and target-directed individualized treatment and care. Future work focused on development of a T2T approach in jSLE is eagerly awaited.

Data Availability Statement All Mars 2020 MEDA data necessary to reproduce each figure shown in this manuscript are available via the Planetary Data System (PDS) Atmospheres node (Rodriguez-Manfredi & de la Torre Juarez, 2021). An exception to this are the LWd values in the 5–80 μm range (Figures 8, 9, and 10 top, Figure 11 top, and Figure 15), and the aerosol opacity values derived from TIRS (Figure 10, middle and Figure 11, top), which are publicly available via the USRA Houston Repository (Martinez et al., 2022). THEMIS retrievals of thermal inertia shown in Figure 7 and TES retrievals of albedo in Figure 14 can be queried and processed using the open-source JMARS (Christensen et al., 2009) and MARSTHERM (Putzig et al., 2013) software. The Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) on board Perseverance includes first-of-its-kind sensors measuring the incident and reflected solar flux, the downwelling atmospheric IR flux, and the upwelling IR flux emitted by the surface. We use these measurements for the first 350 sols of the Mars 2020 mission (Ls ∼ 6°–174° in Martian Year 36) to determine the surface radiative budget on Mars and to calculate the broadband albedo (0.3–3 μm) as a function of the illumination and viewing geometry. Together with MEDA measurements of ground temperature, we calculate the thermal inertia for homogeneous terrains without the need for numerical thermal models. We found that (a) the observed downwelling atmospheric IR flux is significantly lower than the model predictions. This is likely caused by the strong diurnal variation in aerosol opacity measured by MEDA, which is not accounted for by numerical models. (b) The albedo presents a marked non-Lambertian behavior, with lowest values near noon and highest values corresponding to low phase angles (i.e., Sun behind the observer). (c) Thermal inertia values ranged between 180 (sand dune) and 605 (bedrock-dominated material) SI units. (d) Averages of albedo and thermal inertia (spatial resolution of ∼3–4 m2) along Perseverance's traverse are in very good agreement with collocated retrievals of thermal inertia from Thermal Emission Imaging System (spatial resolution of 100 m per pixel) and of bolometric albedo in the 0.25–2.9 μm range from (spatial resolution of ∼300 km2). The results presented here are important to validate model predictions and provide ground-truth to orbital measurements. Objectives Juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (jSLE) affects 15–20% of lupus patients. Clinical heterogeneity between racial groups, age groups and individual patients suggests variable pathophysiology. This study aimed to identify highly penetrant damaging mutations in genes associated with SLE/SLE-like disease in a large national cohort (UK JSLE Cohort Study) and compare demographic, clinical and laboratory features in patient sub-cohorts with ‘genetic’ SLE vs remaining SLE patients. Methods Based on a sequencing panel designed in 2018, target enrichment and next-generation sequencing were performed in 348 patients to identify damaging gene variants. Findings were integrated with demographic, clinical and treatment related datasets. Results Damaging gene variants were identified in ∼3.5% of jSLE patients. When compared with the remaining cohort, ‘genetic’ SLE affected younger children and more Black African/Caribbean patients. ‘Genetic’ SLE patients exhibited less organ involvement and damage, and neuropsychiatric involvement developed over time. Less aggressive first line treatment was chosen in ‘genetic’ SLE patients, but more second and third line agents were used. ‘Genetic’ SLE associated with anti-dsDNA antibody positivity at diagnosis and reduced ANA, anti-LA and anti-Sm antibody positivity at last visit. Conclusion Approximately 3.5% of jSLE patients present damaging gene variants associated with younger age at onset, and distinct clinical features. As less commonly observed after treatment induction, in ‘genetic’ SLE, autoantibody positivity may be the result of tissue damage and explain reduced immune complex-mediated renal and haematological involvement. Routine sequencing could allow for patient stratification, risk assessment and target-directed treatment, thereby increasing efficacy and reducing toxicity.

Background/Aims The evidence base underlying the management of children and young people (CYP) with paediatric rheumatic diseases (PRDs) is inadequate, with many critical outstanding questions warranting investigation. The aim of this study was to elicit multidisciplinary PRDs research priorities, through consultation with patients, carers and healthcare professionals. Methods This study was led by the UK NIHR CRN Children/Versus Arthritis Paediatric Rheumatology CSG (referred to as ‘the CSG’) and its Topic Specific Groups (TSGs). The CSG is a multidisciplinary group with strong patient/parent representation, supporting the development of clinical studies in the UK. Research priority ideas were sought from paediatric rheumatologists, trainees, allied healthcare professional (AHP), nurses, patients, parents and charities, through online surveys and face-to-face meetings. Research ideas were categorised as disease-specific or broad/general. They were grouped into sub-themes, duplicates/questions that had already been answered were removed, and similar submissions combined. A modified Delphi process was undertaken, including online research priority ranking, and an online consensus workshop to derive top PRD research priorities. Results The initial consultation yielded 304 research priority ideas; 25% from patients/parents, 22% from the CSG, 18% from TSGs, 13% from AHPs, 11% from trainees, 11% from Nurses. 55 disease-specific and 37 broad/general research priorities were voted upon in the first online survey, yielding a top 11 general broad research priorities. The top 10 disease specific priorities were discussed at the online Delphi priority setting workshop, and two online surveys were held during the workshop to determine their final ranking. Two of the disease-specific priorities were combined, leading to a top 9 (see Table). Disease specific proprieties related to clinical trials in JIA (n = 3) / Juvenile Dermatomyositis (n = 1) / Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (n = 1) / Juvenile Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (n = 1) Scleroderma (n = 1), management of JIA in adulthood (n = 1) and chronic pain (n = 1). Conclusion UK consensus-based PRD research priorities have been derived, underpinned by collaboration with patients/carers and healthcare professionals, helping to guide funding bodies to improve the evidence base in PRD’s. Objectives To assess the achievability and effect of attaining low disease activity (LDA) or remission in childhood-onset SLE (cSLE). Methods Attainment of three adult-SLE derived definitions of LDA (LLDAS, LA, Toronto-LDA), and four definitions of remission (clinical-SLEDAI-defined remission on/off treatment, pBILAG-defined remission on/off treatment) was assessed in UK JSLE Cohort Study patients longitudinally. Prentice–Williams–Petersen gap recurrent event models assessed the impact of LDA/remission attainment on severe flare/new damage. Results LLDAS, LA and Toronto-LDA targets were reached in 67%, 73% and 32% of patients, after a median of 18, 15 or 17 months, respectively. Cumulatively, LLDAS, LA and Toronto-LDA was attained for a median of 23%, 31% and 19% of total follow-up-time, respectively. Remission on-treatment was more common (61% cSLEDAI-defined, 42% pBILAG-defined) than remission off-treatment (31% cSLEDAI-defined, 21% pBILAG-defined). Attainment of all target states, and disease duration (>1 year), significantly reduced the hazard of severe flare (P 0.05). Attainment of all targets reduced the hazards of new damage (P Conclusions This is the first study demonstrating that adult-SLE-derived definitions of LDA/remission are achievable in cSLE, significantly reducing risk of severe flare/new damage. Of the LDA definitions, LLDAS performed best, leading to a statistically comparable reduction in the hazards of severe flare to attainment of clinical remission.

This is an open access article under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited., We present ∼1.5 Mars Years (MY) of ozone vertical profiles, covering LS = 163° in MY34 to LS = 320° in MY35, a period which includes the 2018 global dust storm. Since April 2018, the Ultraviolet and Visible Spectrometer channel of the Nadir and Occultation for Mars Discovery (NOMAD) instrument aboard the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter has observed the vertical, latitudinal and seasonal distributions of ozone. Around perihelion, the relative abundance of both ozone and water (from coincident NOMAD measurements) increases with decreasing altitude below ∼40 km. Around aphelion, localized decreases in ozone abundance exist between 25 and 35 km coincident with the location of modeled peak water abundances. High-latitude (>±55°), high altitude (40–55 km) equinoctial ozone enhancements are observed in both hemispheres (LS ∼350°–40°) and discussed in the companion article to this work (Khayat et al., 2021). The descending branch of the main Hadley cell shapes the observed ozone distribution at LS = 40°–60°, with the possible signature of a northern hemisphere thermally indirect cell identifiable from LS = 40°–80°. Morning terminator observations show elevated ozone abundances with respect to evening observations, with average ozone abundances between 20 and 40 km an order of magnitude higher at sunrise compared to sunset, attributed to diurnal photochemical partitioning along the line of sight between ozone and O or fluctuations in water abundance. The ozone retrievals presented here provide the most complete global description of Mars ozone vertical distributions to date as a function of season and latitude. © 2021. Objectives This study aimed to test the performance of the new ACR and EULAR criteria, that include ANA positivity as entry criterion, in JSLE. Methods Performance of the ACR/EULAR-2019 criteria were compared with Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC-2012), using data from children and young people (CYP) in the UK JSLE Cohort Study (n = 482), with the ACR-1997 criteria used as reference standard. An unselected cohort of CYP positive for ANA (n = 129) was used to calculate positive/negative predictive values of the criteria. Results At both first and last visits, the number of patients fulfilling the different classification criteria varied significantly (P < 0.001). The sensitivity of the SLICC-2012 criteria was higher when compared with that of the ACR/EULAR-2019 criteria at first and last visits (98% vs 94% for first visit, and 98% vs 96% for last visit; P < 0.001), when all available CYP were considered. The ACR/EULAR-2019 criteria were more specific when compared with the SLICC-2012 criteria (77% vs 67% for first visit, and 81% vs 71% for last visit; P < 0.001). Significant differences between the classification criteria were mainly caused by the variation in ANA positivity across ages. In the unselected cohort of ANA-positive CYP, the ACR/EULAR-2019 criteria produced the highest false-positive classification (6/129, 5%). Conclusion In CYP, the ACR/EULAR-2019 criteria are not superior to those of the SLICC-2012 or ACR-1997 criteria. If classification criteria are designed to include CYP and adult populations, paediatric rheumatologists should be included in the consensus and evaluation process, as seemingly minor changes can significantly affect outcomes.

Objectives The primary objective was to define the incidence of JSLE in children Methods A prospective JSLE epidemiological study was undertaken between September 2017 and September 2019 with support of the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit and other professional groups involved in diagnosis and management of JSLE patients. Treating consultants reported all cases of JSLE seen. A follow-up study at 1 year examined management and progression of disease and treatment. Results There were 124 incident cases included in the final analysis. Incidence was estimated using ACR-1997 classification criteria (0.36/100 000), SLICC-2012 classification criteria (0.41/100 000) and clinician expert opinion (0.46/100 000). A high disease burden was seen, with 71.0% of patients requiring ongoing systemic CS treatment at 1 year; 98.2% receiving immunomodulatory treatment; and 20.4% accruing damage in the year following diagnosis (predominantly neuropsychiatric-related), with substantial involvement from multiple speciality teams. Conclusions The minimum UK and ROI incidence of JSLE is between 0.36 and 0.46/100 000, depending on the case definition used. Challenges in classification of patients with JSLE are highlighted, but overall this study supports the use of SLICC-2012 classification criteria. The high levels of disease damage and ongoing CS use 1 year after diagnosis is concerning, highlighting the need for further interventions to improve outcomes in JSLE.

Nailplated timber trusses are widely used in residential housing. However, there is limited evidence of use or research on the application of nailplated trusses in exposed environments. It is common knowledge to the nailplated truss industry that weather-exposed trusses experience a phenomenon referred to as “nailplate backout”, where the nailplates separate from the timber surface due to the shrink-swell mechanism of the timber in response to its varying moisture content. This paper investigates the performance of innovative nailplated joints on: (1) stopping moisture-driven backout and (2) increasing the capacity of the joints, when compared to currently used joints, after exposure to severe moisture cycling. Three different experimental sets of joints were manufactured to achieve these outcomes, with Set 1 and Set 2 containing 100 splice and 100 butt joints while Set 3 had 40 splice and 40 butt joints. Sets 1 and 2 have a re-designed tooth profile where: (1) Set 1 combined a polyurethane adhesive with a modified nailplate tooth designed to allow the adhesive to penetrate the timber and (2) Set 2 implemented a hook in the middle of the nailplate teeth to grab the timber when the nailplate tries to separate from the timber, either from moisture induced backout or from loading. Polyurethane adhesive was also used in Set 3 but on an un-modified tooth profile. To evaluate the efficiency of the new nailplates, control joints with unmodified nailplates were manufactured for each set and tested. All joints were subjected to severe accelerated moisture cycles inside an air-driven kiln with the temperature being kept constant 70 °C and the relative humidity varied between 15 and 95%. The cycles consisted of a 7-h wetting and an 18-h drying period. For Sets 1 and 2, the tensile capacity of the joints was measured after 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 moisture cycles, while for Set 3, it was only measured after 0 and 12 cycles. The backout was recorded after each moisture cycle for Sets 1 and 2 and after 12 cycles for Set 3. The average backout of Set 1 and Set 2 control joints after 12 severe cycles was 1.13 mm and 1.01 mm, respectively, while the addition of glue and a hook reduced the backout to 0.56 and 0.92 mm, respectively. In terms of capacity, the adhesive in Set 1 increased the capacity for the splice joints and butt joints by 43% and 13%, respectively. In Set 2, the hook only marginally increased the capacity of the splice joints by 13% and reduced the average butt joint capacity. Observations were made regarding the failure modes of the joints. The addition of the adhesive and hook to the nailplate teeth resulted in more joints failing due to the capacity of the timber rather than due to the nailplate separating from the timber during the tensile testing.

The Rover Environmental Monitoring Station (REMS) instrument that is onboard NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity rover. REMS has been measuring surface pressure, air and ground brightness temperature, relative humidity, and UV irradiance since MSL’s landing in 2012. In Mars Year (MY) 34 (2018) a global dust storm reached Gale Crater at L(s) ~190°. REMS offers a unique opportunity to better understand the impact of a global dust storm on local environmental conditions, which complements previous observations by the Viking landers and Mars Exploration Rovers. All atmospheric variables measured by REMS are strongly affected albeit at different times. During the onset phase, the daily maximum UV radiation decreased by 90% between sols 2075 (opacity ~1) and 2085 (opacity ~8.5). The diurnal range in ground and air temperatures decreased by 35K and 56K, respectively, with also a diurnal-average decrease of ~2K and 4K respectively. The maximum relative humidity, which occurs right before sunrise, decreased to below 5%, compared with pre-storm values of up to 29%, due to the warmer air temperatures at night while the inferred water vapor abundance suggests an increase during the storm. Between sols 2085 and 2130, the typical nighttime stable inversion layer was absent near the surface as ground temperatures remained warmer than near-surface air temperatures. Finally, the frequency-domain behavior of the diurnal pressure cycle shows a strong increase in the strength of the semidiurnal and terdiurnal modes peaking after the local opacity maximum, also suggesting differences in the dust abundance inside and outside Gale.

Wind is the process that connects Mars’ climate system. Measurements of Mars atmospheric winds from orbit would dramatically advance our understanding of Mars and help prepare for human exploration. Multiple instruments in development will be ready for flight in the next decade. We urge the Decadal Survey to make these measurements a priority.

Purpose of Review Juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosus ((j)SLE) is an autoimmune/inflammatory disease that results in significant damage and disability. When compared to patients with disease onset in adulthood, jSLE patients exhibit increased disease activity, damage and require more aggressive treatments. This manuscript summarises age-specific pathogenic mechanisms and underscores the need for age group–specific research, classification and treatment. Recent Findings Genetic factors play a significant role in the pathophysiology of jSLE, as > 7% of patients develop disease as a result of single gene mutations. Remaining patients carry genetic variants that are necessary for disease development, but require additional factors. Increased ‘genetic impact’ likely contributes to earlier disease onset and more severe phenotypes. Epigenetic events have only recently started to be addressed in jSLE, and add to the list of pathogenic mechanisms that may serve as biomarkers and/or treatment targets. To allow meaningful and patient-oriented paediatric research, age-specific classification criteria and treatment targets require to be defined as currently available tools established for adult-onset SLE have limitations in the paediatric cohort. Summary Significant progress has been made in understanding the pathophysiology of jSLE. Meaningful laboratory and clinical research can only be performed using age group–specific tools, classification criteria and treatment targets.

The combination of advances in knowledge, technology, changes in consumer preference and low cost of manufacturing is accelerating the next technology revolution in crop, livestock and fish production systems. This will have major implications for how, where and by whom food will be produced in the future. This next technology revolution could benefit the producer through substantial improvements in resource use and profitability, but also the environment through reduced externalities. The consumer will ultimately benefit through more nutritious, safe and affordable food diversity, which in turn will also contribute to the acceleration of the next technology. It will create new opportunities in achieving progress towards many of the Sustainable Development Goals, but it will require early recognition of trends and impact, public research and policy guidance to avoid negative trade-offs. Unfortunately, the quantitative predictability of future impacts will remain low and uncertain, while new chocks with unexpected consequences will continue to interrupt current and future outcomes. However, there is a continuing need for improving the predictability of shocks to future food systems especially for ex-ante assessment for policy and planning.

Single-filament tracing has been a valuable tool to directly determine geometrical and mechanical properties of entangled polymer networks. However, systematically verifying how the stiffness of the tracer filament or its molecular interactions with the surrounding network impacts the measurement of these parameters has not been possible with the established experimental systems. Here, we use mechanically programmable DNA nanotubes embedded in crosslinked and entangled F-actin networks, as well as in synthetic DNA networks, in order to measure fundamental, structural network properties like tube width and mesh size with respect to the stiffness of the tracers. While we confirm some predictions derived from models based purely on steric interactions, our results indicate that these models should be expanded to account for additional inter-filament interactions, thus describing the behavior of real polymer networks., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, supplemental information

Slightly less than a Martian Year of nominal science (March 2018–January 2020) with the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter has furthered the ongoing investigation of dayside water vapor column abundance. These dayside observations span latitudes between 75°S and 75°N, and all longitudes, which can provide global snapshots of the total water column abundances. In addition to tracking the seasonal transport of water vapor between poles, geographic enhancements are noted, particularly in the southern hemisphere, both in Hellas Basin, and in other regions not obviously correlated to topography. We report consistent water vapor climatology with previous spacecraft observations, however, note a difference in total water vapor content is noted. Objective We sought to explore patient and parental views on treatment targets, outcome measures and study designs being considered for a future JSLE treat-to-target (T2T) study. Methods We conducted topic-guided, semistructured interviews with JSLE patients and parents and analysed the audio recorded interviews using thematic approaches. Results Patients and parents differed regarding symptoms they felt would be tolerable, representing ‘low disease activity’. Patients often classed symptoms that they had previously experienced, were ‘invisible’ or had minimal disruption on their life as signs of low disease activity. Parents were more accepting of visible signs but were concerned about potential organ involvement and symptom severity. Overall, patients and parents preferred that children were entirely asymptomatic, with no ongoing treatment side effects. They regarded fatigue as particularly challenging, requiring proper monitoring using a fatigue patient-reported outcome measure. Most families felt that reducing corticosteroids would also be a good treatment target. Overall, families liked the concept of T2T, commenting that it could help to improve disease control, help structure treatment and improve communication with clinicians and treatment compliance. They were concerned that T2T might increase the frequency of hospital visits, thus impacting upon schooling, parental employment and finances. Families made suggestions on how to modify the future trial design to mitigate such effects. Conclusion This study provides guidance from patients and parents on T2T targets and study designs. Complementary quantitative studies assessing the achievability and impact of different targets (e.g. lupus low disease activity state or remission) are now warranted to inform an international consensus process to develop treatment targets.

In this article we describe the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques of electron channelling contrast imaging and electron backscatter diffraction. These techniques provide information on crystal structure, crystal misorientation, grain boundaries, strain and structural defects on length scales from tens of nanometres to tens of micrometres. Here we report on the imaging and analysis of dislocations and sub-grains in nitride semiconductor thin films (GaN and AlN) and tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC-Co) hard metals. Our aim is to illustrate the capability of these techniques for investigating structural defects in the SEM and the benefits of combining these diffraction-based imaging techniques.
