Abstract The KM3NeT/ARCA neutrino detector is currently under construction at 3500 m depth offshore Capo Passero, Sicily, in the Mediterranean Sea. The main science objectives are the detection of high-energy cosmic neutrinos and the discovery of their sources. Simulations were conducted for the full KM3NeT/ARCA detector, instrumenting a volume of 1 km $$^3$$ 3 , to estimate the sensitivity and discovery potential to point-like neutrino sources. This paper covers the reconstruction of track- and shower-like signatures, as well as the criteria employed for neutrino event selection. With an angular resolution below 0.1 $$^\circ $$ ∘ for tracks and under 2 $$^\circ $$ ∘ for showers, the sensitivity to point-like neutrino sources surpasses existing observed limits across the entire sky.

Abstract The measurement of the flux of muons produced in cosmic ray air showers is essential for the study of primary cosmic rays. Such measurements are important in extensive air shower detectors to assess the energy spectrum and the chemical composition of the cosmic ray flux, complementary to the information provided by fluorescence detectors. Detailed simulations of the cosmic ray air showers are carried out, using codes such as CORSIKA, to estimate the muon flux at sea level. These simulations are based on the choice of hadronic interaction models, for which improvements have been implemented in the post-LHC era. In this work, a deficit in simulations that use state-of-the-art QCD models with respect to the measurement deep underwater with the KM3NeT neutrino detectors is reported. The KM3NeT/ARCA and KM3NeT/ORCA neutrino telescopes are sensitive to TeV muons originating mostly from primary cosmic rays with energies around 10 TeV. The predictions of state-of-the-art QCD models show that the deficit with respect to the data is constant in zenith angle; no dependency on the water overburden is observed. The observed deficit at a depth of several kilometres is compatible with the deficit seen in the comparison of the simulations and measurements at sea level.

Giant mafic dykes are the key markers of the Earth’s evolution in the Precambrian and have been the subject of extensive research. This article presents the results of the paleomagnetic, rock-magnetic, and paleointensity Banc studies of the Great Dyke of the Kola Peninsula (2.68 Ga). The mean paleomagnetic direction of the characteristic magnetization component and the paleomagnetic pole of the Murmansk craton were calculated using the data from 5 sites (n = 41 samples): D = 117.6°, I = 77.1°, K = 40.9, α95 = 12.1°, slat = 69.265°, slong = 34.35447°, plat = 51.5°, plong = 70.7°, dp/dm = 21.1°/22.6°, and paleolat = 65°. The rocks under study were thoroughly examined for their thermomagnetic properties, revealing that the main carriers of remanent magnetization are single-domain or small pseudo–single-domain (group A) or multidomain (group B) magnetite. The paleointensity values Banc = (6.16 ± 0.92) μT were obtained for 12 samples from group A by the Thellier–Coe method. The corresponding mean virtual dipole moment VDM2.68Ga = (0.85 ± 0.13)×1022 Am2 was determined. These new findings align with previous results on the Archean and Proterozoic objects, indicating that the Earth’s magnetic field was remarkably weak in the Late Archean.

The disinfection of weapons, internal volumes of military equipment and facilities is an important element in protecting the population and military personnel from biological agents. In order to increase the likelihood of contact of the disinfectant with the object of disinfection, to increase the activity of the disinfectant per unit of its mass, to reduce its consumption and the processing time, the liquid disinfectant preparations should be transferred effectively by the generator to a spray aerosol with a particle size of 1–30 µm. For the creation of such an aerosol, we have elaborated a special device – a tank with a lid with four diffusors, fixed on it and connected by air pipes made of rubber reinforced hose. The compressed air is supplied to the diffusors through a nozzle, fixed on the lid. An intake tube supplies disinfectant to the sprayers. This tube allows the solution to be dispensed for dispersion due to the ejection that occurs when compressed air is supplied. There is a neck, covered with micromesh, in the upper part of the lid, through which the filling process is carried out. The mesh also prevents solids from entering the tank, because the nozzles may get clogged, and that may lead to the disruption of the disinfectant dispersion process. There is a handle on the neck for the convenience of carrying the whole installation. Three short bearers are welded to the bottom of the tank, allowing the device to be installed on any horizontal surface. The dimensions of the device are: diameter – 270 mm, height – 195 mm. The volume of the tank for disinfectant is 5 dm3. The article also deals with the main techniques of using technical means for aerosol disinfection of premises and with the factors, affecting the quality of disinfection. The paper underlines the need for a systematic approach to the choice of technical means, disinfectants and modes of disinfection by the method of aerosol disinfection.

Background. High levels of cardiac troponin in the blood indicates myocardial injury, including those caused by intense exercises. Recent studies have shown that an elevation in the troponin concentration in the patients can be caused by the macrotroponin circulation. There is no data in the scientific literature describing this problem in athletes.The aim. To identify the cases and possible causes of high blood levels of cardiac markers in athletes before and after endurance exercises.Materials and methods. The study was conducted on 11 male cross-country skiers aged 15–21 years. The study included two stages: the first was conducted at the end of the preparatory period (November, 2020–2021), the second – in the middle (March) of the 2020–2021 competitive period. At each stage, two blood samples were taken from a vein: the first – in the morning on an empty stomach after a day of rest, the second – 12–14 hours after a high-intensity exercise. In the blood serum, the activity of total creatine kinase (CK), weight concentration of the cardiac isoenzyme of creatine kinase (CK-MB), and concentration of high sensitive troponin I (Tn) were measured.Results. The activity of CK in athletes exceeded the upper limit threshold, and decreased from the preparatory (November) to the competitive (March) period. The concentration of CK-MB in response to exercise increased by 2 times and was not accompanied by the signs of myocardial injury. The most sensitive indicator, responsive to physical activity, was troponin I. However, the highest elevation of Tn in blood of one athlete, both before and after the exercise, was associated with the presence of macrotroponin without signs of myocardial injury.Conclusions. An increase of muscle tissue injury biomarkers in blood, including the heart muscle (CK, CK-MB, and Tn), by 2–4 times is a typical reaction for the body of a cross-country skier to an intense exercise. High levels of troponin in the blood, both before and after training or competition, may be associated with the presence of macrotroponin.

Abstract This article reports the first observation of the Moon and the Sun shadows in the sky distribution of cosmic-ray induced muons measured by the KM3NeT/ORCA detector. The analysed data-taking period spans from February 2020 to November 2021, when the detector had 6 Detection Units deployed at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, each composed of 18 Digital Optical Modules. The shadows induced by the Moon and the Sun were detected at their nominal position with a statistical significance of 4.2 $$\sigma $$ σ and 6.2 $$\sigma $$ σ , and an angular resolution of $$\sigma _{res}=0.49^\circ $$ σ res = 0 . 49 ∘ and $$\sigma _{res}=0.66^\circ $$ σ res = 0 . 66 ∘ , respectively, consistent with the prediction of $$0.53^\circ $$ 0 . 53 ∘ from simulations. This early result confirms the effectiveness of the detector calibration, in time, position and orientation and the accuracy of the event direction reconstruction. This also demonstrates the performance and the competitiveness of the detector in terms of pointing accuracy and angular resolution.

Abstract In the era of precision measurements of the neutrino oscillation parameters, upcoming neutrino experiments will also be sensitive to physics beyond the Standard Model. KM3NeT/ORCA is a neutrino detector optimised for measuring atmospheric neutrinos from a few GeV to around 100 GeV. In this paper, the sensitivity of the KM3NeT/ORCA detector to neutrino decay has been explored. A three-flavour neutrino oscillation scenario, where the third neutrino mass state ν 3 decays into an invisible state, e.g. a sterile neutrino, is considered. We find that KM3NeT/ORCA would be sensitive to invisible neutrino decays with 1/α 3 = τ 3 /m 3 < 180 ps/eV at 90% confidence level, assuming true normal ordering. Finally, the impact of neutrino decay on the precision of KM3NeT/ORCA measurements for θ 23, Δ m 31 2 $$ \Delta {m}_{31}^2 $$ and mass ordering have been studied. No significant effect of neutrino decay on the sensitivity to these measurements has been found.

The object of the study is morality as a form of social consciousness, white its subject is the specific features of the manifestation of new ethics. The authors analyze the variety of phenomena included in the new ethics concept (each involves different groups of actors), and also identify the range of value judgments regarding this concept. The relevance of the topic stems from the need to determine the problem area of what is called new ethics. The questions raise: is the new ethics just a fashionable phrase or does this concept reflect important changes taking place in the life of modern society that affect the standards of behavior? Special attention, according to the authors, should be paid to the conclusions of E. Neumann, who wrote about the new ethics shortly after the Second World War, arguing for the individual right to a responsible ethical decision in the face of the impracticability of any old ethics prescriptions. A non-classical interpretation of the moral problem is suggesred by K. A. Svasyan, who emphasizes the personal-individual basis of viable morality. The new ethics as a principle of free choice can be seen as the opposite of the old ethics-prescriptive norms of behavior that are internalized at the cultural unconscious level in the process of individual socialization. A new ethical problem is emerging in a new — post-industrial, digital — era. This implies not only transformation of interpersonal communication skills, but also a changing (or disappearing) image of the working person. However, in some cases, the new ethics freedom to choose is limited to the adoption and implementation of new etiquette prescriptions. The result of the research is the recognition of the possible ontological status of the new ethics, which introduces new aspects of the changing social life of an individual into the moral problematic — not a person in general, but a specific here and now individual. The new ethics is considered not only as a protest against the impersonal cultural unconscious imposed by society, but also as an experience of individual and subjective reformatting of public morality. The ideas of human dignity and respect for the individual, which have long been discussed by moral philosophy, are moving from the theoretical sphere to the practical one.

Goals and objectives. Graphical models have proven to be a reliable, clear and convenient tool for creating sketch models of databases. Most of the existing notations are designed for the relational data model, the dominant data model for the last thirty years. However, the development of information technologies has led to an increase in the popularity of non-relational data models, primarily the document model. One of the problems of its application in practice is the lack of suitable tools that allow performing graphical modeling of the database, taking into account the features of the document model, at the stage of logical design. The development of appropriate tools is an important and actual task, since their application in practical research makes it possible to identify, classify and analyze typical modeling errors that allow the designer to reduce the risk of their occurrence in the future. The purpose of this article is to develop a graphical notation that, on the one hand, providing convenience for the designer, and on the other hand, taking into account the peculiarities of creating and functioning of the noSQL document storage model.Materials and methods. The materials for the study were numerous publications devoted to the development of graphical notations in problems and their application to database design for various information systems. The selected materials were analyzed and the main graphical notations used to describe the relational data model were identified. Three notations were selected from them, a set of graphic stereotypes, which were most different from each other, the analysis of which allowed us to identify the main image patterns of the components of the relational model.The resulting patterns were applied to the main elements of the document database, which were obtained by analyzing the documentation of the popular MongoDB DBMS.Results. The result of the research was the creation of a new tool for modeling document databases at the logical level, which consists of a set of graphic stereotypes and rules for their application. On the one hand, the development is well known to practitioners who have previously worked with relational data models, since its development took into account many years of experience in using graphical models in the field of relational database design, and on the other hand, it reflects the features of the structure of the document model.Conclusion. The practical application of the developed model has shown the convenience of its use both in the process of designing document databases and in the process of teaching students within this subject area. The use of graphical models constructed in the proposed graphical notation will allow researchers to create and illustrate typical patterns of document databases, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the dynamics of the development of promising data storage technologies.

Increasing of production performance of production systems and equipment in the meat-processing industry is integrally linked to maintenance activities. The article analyzes the influence of technological effectiveness, level of hygiene, reliability and simplicity of equipment design on the main parameters of meat products quality. Here it is shown that the strategy of Total Productive Maintenance (TRM) and Lean production is important tool for assessment of parameter of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), which is used to assess the main types of losses that reduce the equipment productivity. The link of influence between the structural and mechanical properties of food masses, the moisture content of the initial food raw material, the temperature and viscosity, the processing pressure, and the density for the optimal operating terms of the equipment are analyzed in this research. With the help of OEE concept, the time losses related to the features of the equipment functioning are determined. The types of losses are classified as follows: downtime and readjustment (availability or readiness for operation) of equipment, short-term shutdown of equipment and a decrease in processing speed (productivity or performance rate of the equipment), product rejects and product losses (quality losses) during startup of equipment. While analyzing of the operation of vacuum filler for sausages production, the values of parameters of equipment availability, it productivity and product quality are calculated. The availability index is 0.79, the productivity index is 0.76, and the product quality index is 0.95. Taking into account the obtained data on equipment availability, productivity and product quality, it is determined that the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) accounts for 57%. The application of this method for studying the overall equipment effectiveness operation can be applied to any technological equipment used in the meat-processing industry and allows eliminating many problems that arise during the operation of technological equipment, improving its technical and economic parameters, and developing a system of measures for improvement of its maintenance and repair.

Abstract The existence of sterile neutrino is an open question in neutrino physics up to now. The method of neutrino oscillometry provides a powerful tool to test the common 3 + 1 sterile neutrino hypothesis, i.e. three active flavors and one sterile flavor. There are several antineutrino sources which can be used for this method. One of them is the well known isotope chain of $$^{144}\mathrm{Ce}$$ 144Ce –$$^{144}{\mathrm{Pr}}$$ 144Pr with initial activity around 50–100 kCi. It has compact size and might be installed either outside or inside the detector. Another one is the short-lived isotope $$^8{\mathrm{Li}}$$ 8Li , which can be produced in nuclear reaction of a proton beam hitting a beryllium target. The lithium source has only the out-of-detector option due to its large size. The proposed Jinping water-based liquid scintillator detector will be used as a detection volume. Above experimental setups will allow us to cover the current best fit values of oscillation parameters with 90% C.L. At the same time, it is sensitive to the region of the Neutrino-4 result.

Ceramic solid solutions GdNbxTa1−xO4 (x=0–1) were synthesized by sol–gel. Morphological particularities of microstructure were studied, strength characteristics (Young’s modulus) and stress intensity factor for mode I KIC were evaluated. The latter is a criterion of crack resistance of the material. Luminescent properties of solid solutions GdNbxTa1−xO4 were researched under UV exciting radiation. A comparatively small addition of Ta (x=0.9) was shown to increase luminescence intensities of centers Nb4+–O−. An addition of Ta to GdNbO4 leads to creation of solid solution GdNb0.9Ta0.1O4. Intensity of these centers is 3–6.5 times larger than that of GdNbO4 and GdTaO4.

Development of software documentation often involves copy-pasting, which produces a lot of duplicate text. Such duplicates make it difficult and expensive documentation maintenance, especially in case of long life cycle of software and its documentation. The situation is further complicated by duplicate information frequently being near duplicate, i.e., the same information may be presented many times with different levels of detail, in various contexts, etc. There are a number approaches to deal with duplicates in software documentation. But most of them use software clone detection technique, that is make difficult to provide efficient near duplicate detection: source code algorithms ignore a document structure, and they produce a lot of false positives. In this paper, we present an algorithm aiming to detect near duplicates in software documentation using natural language processing technique called as N-gramm model. The algorithm has a considerable limitation: it only detects single sentences as near duplicates. But it is very simple and may be easily improved in future. It is implemented with use of Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK), and. Evaluation results are presented for five real life documents from various industrial projects. Manual analysis shows 39 % of false positives in automatic detected duplicates. The algorithm demonstrates reasonable performance: documents of 0,8-3 Mb are processed 5-22 min.

Modern methods for determination of gravity values make it possible to obtain measurements with the accuracy up to 10–9 from g0 of the normal value (up to 1 microgal = 10 m/sec2). While all the systematic and periodic effects are excluded, a question is raised about stability of the gravity field of the Earth over time. Changes of the altitude (the Earth’s radius) with time can be estimated with an accuracy of 0.1 mm by modern space geodetic techniques, such as VLBI method. Our experiments for evaluation of stability of the gravity values over the past decades are based on the data obtained by Russian and foreign observatories using absolute ballistic laser gravimeters. The results put a limit of 10–10 per year to changes of the Earth’s radius. These estimations can be useful for testing hypotheses in tectonics.Measurements of non-tidal variations of gravity (Δg), which were obtained from 1992 to 2012 at the Talaya seismic station (located in the south-western part of the Baikal region), are interpreted together with GPS observation data. At the Talaya seismic station, the linear component of gravity variations corresponds to changes in the elevation of this site. The correlation coefficient is close to the normal value of the vertical gradient of gravity. At this site, coseismic gravity variations at the time of the Kultuk earthquake (27 August 2008, Mw=6.3) were caused by a combined effect of the change of the site’s elevation and deformation of the crust. Our estimations of the coseismic effects are consistent with results obtained by modeling based on the available seismic data.
