Abstract Background This first mixed-methods UK trial examined the feasibility and acceptability of a future definitive randomised controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate whether Family Focussed Treatment for Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder (FFT-A) UK version can improve family functioning and well-being as part of the management of Paediatric Bipolar Disorder (PBD). Method The trial used a randomised, parallel group, non-blinded design where participants received FFT-A UK (16 sessions over 6 months) immediately or after 12 months (delayed arm). Measures of family functioning, well-being and quality of life of the young person and the main carer (most commonly a parent) were completed at baseline, 6 and 12-months in both arms. Primary outcome measures included rates of eligibility, consent and retention along with estimates of variability in the measures and assessment of the intervention delivery. Qualitative interviews allowed assessment of participants’ views about FFT-A and the trial processes. Results Twenty-seven of 36 young persons with PBD and their families consented; of these, 14 families were randomised to the immediate and 13 to the delayed arm. Two families from the immediate arm withdrew consent and discontinued participation. Quantitative measures were completed by 22 families (88%) at 6-months and 21 families (84%) at 12-months. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 30 participants (9 young people, 15 parents and 6 other family members). Nine families attended 3 post-trial focus groups. Conclusion It was feasible to recruit and retain to this trial. The results highlighted that trial design and measures were acceptable to participants. A benefit in family relationships was reported by participants which they attributed to the intervention in qualitative interviews. Families recommended that future modifications include definitive trial(s) recruiting participants in the age range 15–25 years as it felt this was the age range with maximum need. The authors presents a rare case of a 12 years-old girl with Grave’s disease with typical clinical features apearing after an emotional stress. After a first-line treatment with antithyroid drugs the thyrotoxic syndrome relapsed because the lack of compliance and side effects of this medication (carbimazole). Convenient preparation to achieve the euthyroid state allowed the young patient to support a near total thyroidectomy with immediate and long-term good result. Considerations about the pathways leading to Grave’s disease, clinical and bioumoral diagnosis and especially the indications, advantages and failures of the three main methods of therapy i.e. antithyroid drugs, ablative radioiodine and surgery are discussed.

During the last decades, five or six member rings azaheterocycles compounds appear to be an extremely valuable source of antifungal agents. Their use seems to be a very attractive solution in antifungal therapy and to overcome antifungal resistance in agriculture. The present review highlights the main results obtained in the field of hybrid and chimeric azine (especially pyridine, quinoline, phenanthroline, bypyridine, naphthyridine and their fused derivatives) derivatives presented in scientific literature from the last 10 years, with emphasis on antifungal activity of the mentioned compounds. A special attention was played to hybrid and chimeric azole-azine class, having in view the high antifungal potential of azoles.

Apps developed for bipolar disorder (BD) allow a sense of autonomy and self-regulation whilst monitoring for early warning signs indicative of a relapse. C.A.L.M BD was specifically co-designed and co-produced with young people (16-25 years) living with BD, their family members, clinicians, researchers in human-computer interaction and an app development company to address the current lack of such technology for this age range. The prototype app tracked mood, and provided young people with the instant ability to monitor mood trends and use lifeline functionality when in crisis. The evaluation of the app demonstrated that it successfully engaged participants and provided insight to an effective way of iteratively designing an app. The future development of this app could improve outcomes for young people living with BD, however, needs to be evaluated rigorously., (© 2022 The Authors. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, declared by the World Health Organisation in March 2020, with the emergence of new, possibly more contagious and more virulent strains, remains a research subject, with the complex systemic involvement better described and understood, but also with a variety of skin and mucosal lesions described in the literature. Mucocutaneous lesions associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection are still under investigation, due to their polymorphic clinical aspect and incompletely understood pathogenic mechanism. The cutaneous inflammatory, exanthematous and purpuric rashes, erythemato-purpuric enanthems, oral ulcers, lichenoid oral lesions, conjunctivitis, conjunctival pseudomembranes, or corneal lesions have been described in patients with COVID-19. Several classifications have been proposed based on the clinical pattern, histological findings, and possible pathogenic mechanisms. The pathogenic mechanism, the diagnostic criteria, the prognostic importance of these lesions are still being debated. The diverse clinical aspects of dermatological manifestations render the diagnosis difficult. However, several clinical patterns strongly associated with COVID-19, such as chilblains, papulovesicular exanthems, and febrile rash require increased awareness and changes to the investigation protocols for these conditions, to include testing for SARS-CoV-2. Psoriasis is a common long-lasting, inflammatory disease that mainly affects the skin. The incidence of this condition has increased significantly over time and at this point, it affects approximately 1% of children. Psoriasis can appear at any age, including childhood and adolescence, with a higher frequency in girls, an earlier onset being associated with severe psoriasis. The pathology is the result of the interaction between genetics and trigger factors such as infections, stress, diet, obesity, and chemical irritants. Paradoxically, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α inhibitors (infliximab, adalimumab) may induce psoriasis in children. Psoriasis is a long-term condition with periods of exacerbation; thus, the quality of life can be affected and patients should receive psychosocial support. Although most children have mild disease and topical treatment is efficient, some cases are challenging to treat. Due to the pressing problems of today's world, regarding both the finding of new, environmentally friendly materials which have the potential to replace classic ones, and the need to limit the accelerated spread of bacteria in hospitals, offices and other types of spaces, many researchers have chosen to develop their work in this field. Thus, biopolymeric materials have evolved so much that they are gradually becoming able to remove fossil-based plastics from major industries, which are harmful to the environment and implicitly to human health. The biopolymer employed in the present study, Arboblend V2 Nature with silver nanoparticle content (AgNP) meets both aspects mentioned above. The main purpose of the paper is to replace several parts and products in operation which exhibit antibacterial action, preventing the colonization and proliferation of bacteria ( Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus , by using the submerged cultivation method), but also the possibility of degradation in different environments. The biopolymer characterization followed the thermal behavior of the samples, their structure and morphology through specific analyses, such as TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), DSC (differential scanning calorimetry), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and XRD (X-ray diffraction). The obtained results offer the possibility of use of said biocomposite material in the medical field because of its antibacterial characteristics that have proved to be positive, and, therefore, suitable for such applications. The thermal degradation and the structure of the material highlighted the possibility of employing it in good conditions at temperatures up to 200 °C. Two types of samples were used for thermal analysis: first, in the form of granules coated with silver nanoparticles, and second, test specimen cut from the sample obtained by injection molding from the coated granules with silver nanoparticles.

Background: Restricted and repetitive behaviours vary greatly across the autism spectrum, and although not all are problematic some can cause distress and interfere with learning and social opportunities. We have, alongside parents, developed a parent group based intervention for families of young children with autism, which aims to offer support to parents and carers; helping them to recognise, understand and learn how to respond to their child's challenging restricted repetitive behaviours., Methods: The study is a clinical and cost-effectiveness, multi-site randomised controlled trial of the Managing Repetitive Behaviours (MRB) parent group intervention versus a psychoeducation parent group Learning About Autism (LAA) (n = 250; 125 intervention/125 psychoeducation; ~ 83/site) for parents of young children aged 3-9 years 11 months with a diagnosis of autism. All analyses will be done under intention-to-treat principle. The primary outcome at 24 weeks will use generalised estimating equation (GEE) to compare proportion of children with improved RRB between the MRB group and the LAA group. The GEE model will account for the clustering of children by parent groups using exchangeable working correlation. All secondary outcomes will be analysed in a similar way using appropriate distribution and link function. The economic evaluation will be conducted from the perspective of both NHS costs and family access to local community services. A 'within trial' cost-effectiveness analysis with results reported as the incremental cost per additional child achieving at least the target improvement in CGI-I scale at 24 weeks., Discussion: This is an efficacy trial to investigate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a parent group based intervention designed to help parents understand and manage their child's challenging RRB. We explored the appropriateness and measurement properties of a suicidality assessment tool (SBQ-R) developed for the general population, in autistic adults-a high risk group for suicide. 188 autistic adults and 183 general population adults completed the tool online, and a sub-sample (n = 15) were interviewed while completing the tool. Multi-group factorial invariance analysis of the online survey data found evidence for metric non-invariance of the SBQ-R, particularly for items three (communication of suicidal intent) and four (likelihood of suicide attempt in the future). Cognitive interviews revealed that autistic adults did not interpret these items as intended by the tool designers. Results suggest autistic adults interpret key questions regarding suicide risk differently to the general population. Future research must adapt tools to better capture suicidality in autistic adults.

Background: Unusual sensory responses were included in the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), yet they are also common among individuals with other neurodevelopmental disorders, including Williams syndrome (WS). Cross-syndrome comparisons of sensory atypicalities and the evaluation of their syndrome specificity however have rarely been undertaken. We aimed to (1) examine and compare the sensory profiles in ASD and WS groups and (2) investigate whether autistic symptoms, including sensory processing scores, can predict a group membership., Methods: Parents of 26 children with ASD and intellectual disability, 30 parents of children with ASD (no intellectual disability) and 26 with WS aged between 4 and 16 years were recruited. Parents completed the Sensory Profile to provide information about their children's sensory experiences and the Social Responsiveness Scale - Second Edition (SRS-2) to assess the degree of social impairment in their children., Results: No significant differences were found in sensory processing scores between the three groups. Binary logistic regression analyses were undertaken with sensory quadrants and SRS-2 total score as factors. Models significantly predicted group membership, with Low Registration, Sensory Sensitivity and SRS-2 total score being significant predictors., Conclusions: The findings suggest that high rates of sensory atypicalities are a common neurodevelopmental characteristic that do not reliably distinguish between WS and ASD groups. Low Registration and Sensory Sensitivity-related behaviours might, however, be more specific to ASD. Further work is needed to explore what behaviours within sensory profiles can discriminate between neurodevelopmental disorders and should be included in diagnostic classifications., (© 2020 The Authors. We examined the feasibility and acceptability of using an immersive virtual reality environment (VRE) alongside cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for young people with autism experiencing specific phobia. Thirty-two participants were randomised to treatment or control. Treatment involved one session introducing CBT techniques and four VRE sessions, delivered by local clinical therapists. Change in target behaviour was independently rated. Two weeks after treatment, four treatment participants (25%) and no control participants were responders; at 6 months after treatment, six (38%) treatment and no control participants were responders. At 6 months post-treatment, symptoms had worsened for one treatment and five control (untreated) participants. Brief VRE exposure with CBT is feasible and acceptable to deliver through child clinical services and is effective for some participants.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Williams syndrome (WS) share psychopathology relating to sensory processing and repetitive behaviors. The relationships between the sensory features and repetitive behaviors in both disorders, and the mechanisms underlying these relationships are not well understood. The aim of this study was to examine the relationships between sensory processing, repetitive behaviors, anxiety, and intolerance of uncertainty in children with ASD and those with WS to better understand the complexity of psychopathology in these disorders. Parents of 19 children with ASD and 16 children with WS, aged between 4 and 9 years, were asked to complete questionnaires assessing their children's sensory experiences, anxiety symptoms, severity and frequency of repetitive behaviors, and level of intolerance of uncertainty. Serial mediation analysis was performed. Direct significant relationships between sensory features and repetitive behaviors were found only for the ASD group. The relationship between sensory processing difficulties and repetitive behaviors was mediated via intolerance of uncertainty in WS. The findings support the value of considering the complexity of the mechanisms underlying the relationship between sensory processing and repetitive behaviors across neurodevelopmental disorders and the mechanisms underlying these aspects of psychopathology in these groups. Understanding these relationships will shed light on some of the most challenging and intractable characteristics of both conditions and inform suitable interventions to improve quality of life for individuals with either ASD or WS. Introduction: Active acromegaly is a rare chronic endocrine disorder caused by excessive growth hormone (GH). Clinical studies suggest that cognitive performance is impaired in acromegaly - particularly executive function as well as short- and long-term memory. This study compared the quality of life (QoL) and executive functioning in acromegaly patients vs healthy controls., Materials and Methods: This was an observational case-control study on 38 subjects divided into 19 acromegaly patients and 19 matched controls. The groups were evaluated for QoL, attention, and executive function. All subjects completed Acromegaly Quality of Life Questionnaire (AcroQoL), Trail Making Test (parts A and B), Stroop, and phonemic fluency tests., Results: Acromegaly patients had an AcroQoL global score that was significantly lower than controls. There were significant differences between the acromegaly group and the control group in terms of the physical effects ( P =0.001) and appearance ( P <0.001) but not for personal relationships ( P =0.421). Acromegaly patients performed worse in the trail making test part B. They provided significantly fewer words than healthy subjects in phonemic fluency testing. Although patients performed generally worse than controls, no significant differences were noted in the trail making test part A, Stroop test, and the constrained phonemic fluency., Conclusion: Acromegaly patients display worse executive functioning than healthy controls and have a decreased QoL., Competing Interests: Disclosure The authors report no conflicts of interest in this work.

The Spence Children's Anxiety Scale-Parent version (SCAS-P) is often used to assess anxiety in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), however, little is known about the validity of the tool in this population. The aim of this study was to determine whether the SCAS-P has the same factorial validity in a sample of young people with ASD (n = 285), compared to a sample of typically developing young people with anxiety disorders (n = 224). Poor model fit with all of the six hypothesised models precluded invariance testing. Exploratory factor analysis indicated that different anxiety phenomenology characterises the two samples. The findings suggest that cross-group comparisons between ASD and anxious samples based on the SCAS-P scores may not always be appropriate.

Early detection of nodular thyroid diseases including thyroid cancer is still primarily based on invasive procedures such as fine-needle aspiration biopsy. Therefore, there is a strong need for development of new diagnostic methods that could provide clinically useful information regarding thyroid nodular lesions in a non-invasive way. In this study we investigated 1 H NMR based metabolic profiles of paired urine and blood serum samples, that were obtained from healthy individuals and patients with nodular thyroid diseases. Estimation of predictive potential of metabolites was evaluated using chemometric methods and revealed that both urine and serum carry information sufficient to distinguish between patients with nodular lesions and healthy individuals. Data fusion allowed to further improve prediction quality of the models. However, stratification of tumor types and their differentiation in relation to each other was not possible.

Sensory atypicalities are a common feature of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). To date, the relationship between sensory atypicalities in dyads of children with ASD and their parents has not been investigated. Exploring these relationships can contribute to an understanding of how phenotypic profiles may be inherited, and the extent to which familial factors might contribute towards children's sensory profiles and constitute an aspect of the broader autism phenotype (BAP). Parents of 44 children with ASD and 30 typically developing (TD) children, aged between 3 and 14 years, participated. Information about children's sensory experiences was collected through parent report using the Sensory Profile questionnaire. Information about parental sensory experiences was collected via self-report using the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile. Parents of children with ASD had significantly higher scores than parents of TD children in relation to low registration, over responsivity, and taste/smell sensory processing. Similar levels of agreement were obtained within ASD and TD parent-child dyads on a number of sensory atypicalities; nevertheless significant correlations were found between parents and children in ASD families but not TD dyads for sensation avoiding and auditory, visual, and vestibular sensory processing. The findings suggest that there are similarities in sensory processing profiles between parents and their children in both ASD and TD dyads. Familial sensory processing factors are likely to contribute towards the BAP. Further work is needed to explore genetic and environmental influences on the developmental pathways of the sensory atypicalities in ASD. Background: Our study underline scarcity of isolated case reports or small case series of parathyroid adenoma (PA) published in autochthonous medical literature,their variable clinical expression among the "historic" varieties but also the diagnostic difficulties and delays of diagnosis as well consecration of surgery as the golden therapeutic standard of this disorder., Patients and Method: Demographic, clinical presentations, laboratory and imaging data, operative findings and procedures together with pathology account and outcome from the case reports of 18 patients with documented PHP were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The male/female ratio was 1/5, with ages ranging from 16 to 58 (mean 46) years. Renal stones (n=9) and bone sufferings (n=6) were the most common modes of presentation. To these were added psychiatric and neuromuscular complaints, digestive disorders (pancreatitis and peptic ulcer) arterial hypertension and presence of a palpable nodule. Mean serum calcium and phospho-rus, alkaline phosphatase and PTH dosage together with parathyroid ultrasound and 99m Tc sestamibi scintigraphy are the most useful parameters for diagnosis. Eighteen adenomectomies were performed of which bilateral neck exploration was done in 16 patients and minimally invasive approach in the remaining two cases. In 9 situations concomitant thyroid exeresis for associated lesions or tactical purpose were done. Pathology revealed single adenoma consisting of main and oxyphil cells in 17 cases. In one case an atypical adenoma was identified and in another case three years after removal of a benign adenoma the subject presented a clinical ipsilateral recurrence which provided to be a carcinoma. Postoperative clinical and humoral outcome was favorable in all situations less the case of carcinoma which died after 14 months. Conclusions: Despite the rarity and difficulties of diagnosis in cases of PA, practitioners must be aware of potential existence of these lesions in order to apply as early and appropriate treatment where surgery is the gold standard., (Celsius.)

Primary thyroid lymphomas account for less than 5% of all thyroid malignancies and the majority of cases concern non- Hodgkin's lymphoma of B and T-cell origin as well as Hodgkin's lymphoma. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma are a relatively recently described subset of low grade B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma representing between 6 and 27% of the patients with thyroid lymphomas. These cases occur usually in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis having a long indolent course and delayed diagnosis, actually benefit from several therapeutic opportunities among them even surgery and a favorable prognostic. Herein we present a 42-year-old female admitted in our unit for a right firm sensitive thyroid swelling, nonhomogeneous on ultrasound images. FNAB showed cellular smears of mixed follicular cells on a background of mature lymphocytes displaying some nuclear atypia and scanty cytoplasm but no definite malignant elements. Intraoperatively, in addition to the "banal" goiter that was found, some subcentimeter cervical lymph nodes were evidenced. Frozen section showed no evidence of malignant or even suspected cellular elements. However a total right lobectomy and lymph node excision was performed. Microscopy revealed a diffuse lymphoproliferative infiltrate in a background of lymphocytic thyroiditis suggesting a diagnosis of B-cell lymphoma of MALT type and the patient was referred to chemotherapy. Vaginal hysterectomy was mentioned before our era by Soranus of Ephesus, and it is one of the most frequent surgical interventions in gynecologic practice; performed for the first time by Sauter of Constance, in 1822, who practiced a vaginal hysterectomy without ligation of vessels, carrying out the hemostasis with a swab dipped in alum. The essential argument for vaginal surgery is the advantage it brings. Current indications and contraindications encourage the frequent use of vaginal hysterectomy in benign pathology of the uterus, while the indication (Crossen, Rouhier, Campbell techniques) depends most of the times on the surgeon's experience and preference rather than on the critic evaluation of results. Material and methods: The study group included 84 patients, hospitalized from January 2013 to December 2015 in the Third Obstetrics Clinic. For the evaluation of results, we used longitudinal retrospective clinical-statistical method. Results and discussion: Practicing the surgery on vaginal route is mainly indicated in patients with severe anemias and different organic tares. When removal of the cervix is not indicated, or when or when there is an enlarged uterus or one with a small diameter, it is recommended to use laparoscopic hysterectomy. Conclusions: Vaginal hysterectomy is a technique that allows rapid removal of the uterus, with a minimal impact on the patient, indicated in the pathology benign uterine tumors (uterine fibromatosis associated with metrorrhagia, fibromatous uterus with cervical dysplasia, or fibromatous uterus associated with different degr4ees of uterine prolapse).

Introduction: The significant increase in the average lifespan of the general population lead to a proportional enhacement in the prevalence of benign and malignant thyroid conditions and equally the number of surgeries for this pathology., Patients and Method: In a personal series of 464 thyroid disorders undergoing surgery over a two decades period we registered 51 patients (10.9%) aged over 65 years of which 11 (2.4%) having over 75 years. Demographic, clinical and diagnostic characteristics of these cases were analysed together with indications, management practice and outcome. Retrospective statistical analysis reaearching risk factor and confidence interval has not identified factors predicting higher risk of complication in this age group., Results: There have been recorded 33 females and 18 males (R1=1,8/1) with clinically, laboratory and histologically confirmed diagnosis of 24 (multi)nodular goiters (47.0%), 18 thyrotoxicosis (35.2%) and also 9 (17.6%) thyroid carcinomas. Thirty-four total or near total thyroidectomies and 17 conservative exeresis were performed. There were not postoperative deaths but we recorded three cases of prolonged hypocalcemia, and two cases each of recurrent laryngeal nerve paresis and recurrences. In all benign cases we obtained a stable in time cure while in carcinomas survivals of 3-5 years were obtained in only 4 papillary tumors., Conclusions: Despite some difficulties in diagnostic and additional risks related to comorbidity benign and malignant pathology installed in patients over 65 years, may benefit of all types of conservative or radical thyroidectomies in terms of strict monitoring individualized in each case., (Celsius.)

Background: Behaviour problems are common in young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). There are many different tools used to measure behavior problems but little is known about their validity for the population., Objectives: To evaluate the measurement properties of behaviour problems tools used in evaluation of intervention or observational research studies with children with ASD up to the age of six years., Methods: Behaviour measurement tools were identified as part of a larger, two stage, systematic review. First, sixteen major electronic databases, as well as grey literature and research registers were searched, and tools used listed and categorized. Second, using methodological filters, we searched for articles examining the measurement properties of the tools in use with young children with ASD in ERIC, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO. The quality of these papers was then evaluated using the COSMIN checklist., Results: We identified twelve tools which had been used to measure behaviour problems in young children with ASD, and fifteen studies which investigated the measurement properties of six of these tools. There was no evidence available for the remaining six tools. Two questionnaires were found to be the most robust in their measurement properties, the Child Behavior Checklist and the Home Situations Questionnaire-Pervasive Developmental Disorders version., Conclusions: We found patchy evidence on reliability and validity, for only a few of the tools used to measure behaviour problems in young children with ASD. Thyroglossal duct cyst carcinoma is rarely mentioned in literature representing only 0,7-1,6% of cases with these embryonic remnants. Two patients with thyroid duct cyst carcinoma, a 14-year-old girl and a 44-year-old man operated on in our department, both diagnosed postoperatively are described. In the first one a classical Sistrunk operation was performed removing a 3 cm asymptomatic mass, a milimetric papillary carcinoma being incidentally discovered at paraffin section pathology. The second case presented a 4 cm cyst with benign clinical and ultrasonic features excepting a 8 mm nodule in the right thyroid lobe. Cytology was inconclusive such as a Sistrunk procedure together with a right thyroid lobectomy were done. Pathology revealed a limited carcinomatous focus in the cyst wall but also a papillary thyroid microcarcinoma. Both cases was thereby diagnosed only after microscopic examination. Conservative approach adopted due to "œinnocent" clinical appearance, subcentimetric size and absence of any risk factor in the two cases achieved stable, verified over time healing confirming the favorable prognosis of this rare pathology., (Celsius.)

Introduction: The presence of striking cardiovascular manifestations were noted in the first descriptions of hyperthyroidism owing to Parry (1825) and Basedow (1840) in his famous Merseburg triad. Hyperthyroidism may either cause cardiac complications in individuals with a normal myocardium (genuine form of disorder) or complicate preexisting cardiac troubles., Material and Method: An homogenous series of 49 cardiothyreosis, 11 males and 38 females, aged 12 - 78 (mean 45) years selected between 138 thyrotoxic patients operated on in a period of two decades is herein presented. There were registered 15 Basedow diseases, 16 toxic adenomas and 18 multinodular toxic goiters. Among these were found isolated or dominating when combined together, 21 cases with rhythm troubles (4 with extrasistolic arrhythmia and one with fibrilloflutter, 10 cases with cardiac failure and 9 cases with coronary cardiac disease. To these 7 hypertensive patients and two with mitral valvulopathy were added. In hyperthyroidism clinical diagnosis was confirmed on imaging exams and hormonal determinations while cardiovascular disturbances was ascertained by interrogatory, clinical signs, EKG and echocardiography. All our cases were operated on performing 33 total or near total thyroidectomies and 16 lobectomies without morbidity recording however 5 postoperative tachyarrhythmias but finally most of them with good clinical results (87,7% cured or significantly ameliorated)., Discussions and Conclusions: Pathogenic diagnosis of such so-called "cor thyreotoxicosis" is not always easy on account of cardiovascular syndrome which frequently overshowed the thyroid subclinical pictures or emergencies of new described entities as amidarone induced thyrotoxicosis. The single administration of a whole calculated dose of I 131 with subsequent treatment with thyrostatics and B-blockers till remission of toxicosis is achieved can be chosen opposing to thyroidectomy after short medicamentous preparation which is effective in large thyromegalies and toxic adenomas., (Celsius.)
