Abstract

The effect of irradiation with different doses of 4-MeV electrons on radiative recombination of nonequilibrium charge carriers in Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 thin films of solar cells was studied. Near-edge photoluminescence (PL) in the energy range ~0.9–1.2 eV in nonirradiated and irradiated direct-gap Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 solid solutions was caused by optical interband transitions and radiative recombination through energy levels of acceptor- and donor-type structure defects in the presence of strong potential fluctuations. PL spectra measured in the temperature range 5–300 K exhibited energy shifts of the near-edge PL band maxima and redistributions of their intensities in thin films after irradiation with different doses of electrons. The activation energies of nonradiative recombination were determined from the quenching of PL band intensities. The possible nature of structural defects in nonirradiated and electron-irradiated Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 solid solutions was discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A study was carried out on the luminescence excitation spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra as well as the luminescence kinetics of low-density polyethylene composites with different contents of CaGa2S4:Eu2+ phosphor filler. The phospholuminescence was attributed to the 4f65d → 4f7 transition of the Eu3+ ion and was greatest when the filler concentration was 7 vol.%. The dependence of the PL intensity on the excitation power density up to 0.3 W/cm2 was found to be linear, indicating that these phosphors can be used as visible radiation sources in various lighting systems. Abstract

We have used the variable stripe technique and pump-probe spectroscopy to investigate both gain and the dynamics of amplified spontaneous emission from CdSe quantum dot structures. We have found modal gain coefficients of 75 and 32 1/cm for asymmetric and symmetric waveguide structures, respectively. Amplified spontaneous emission decay times of 150 and 300 ps and carrier capture times of 15 and 40 ps were measured for the structures with high and low material gains respectively. The difference in the capture times are related to the fact that for the symmetric waveguide, carriers diffuse into the active region from the uppermost ZnMgSSe cladding layer, yielding a longer rise time for the pump-probe signals for this sample.

Abstract

The photoluminescence (PL) of CaGa2S4:Pr3+ chalcogenide semiconductor compound is studied. The PL spectrum consists of a set of intense sharp lines at 494, 631, 654, and 741 nm, formed by intra-4f transitions of Pr3+ ions. The energy level diagram of CaGa2S4:Pr3+ is proposed. A broad structural band in the PL excitation spectra in the range of 270–360 nm is assumed with superposition of host related and 4f2 → 4f15d1 direct excitation transition bands whereas a sharp line at 456 nm—with 3H4 → 3P2 direct excitation. The PL decays at intensive emission lines at room temperature were found to obey nonexponential law with time constant in the range of 1.1–2.1 μs for fast decay component and of 4.5–6.3 ms for slow one. Thermal quenching by only 50% and 75% of the PL intensity of CaGa2S4:Pr3+ with 7 and 3 at. % Pr3+ ions concentration, respectively, was obtained in the range of 10–300 K. Extreme stability of PL spectra and efficiency of CaGa2S4:Pr3+ compound up to 105 W/cm2 of excitation power density was achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Excitonic quality CuInSe2 crystals were studied using low-temperature (10 K) photoluminescence (PL) excited by continuous wave and nanosecond pulsed lasers at power densities from 0.01 to 76 kW/cm2. Increasing the excitation power density level to 26 kW/cm2 resulted in the appearance of a stimulated emission SE-band in the PL spectra at 1.035 eV. Further increase in the excitation level to 39 kW/cm2 generated on the top of the SE band, a structure of equidistant sharp lines attributed to laser emission. © 2021 Author(s).

Abstract

There are a number of problems in metrological insurance in the UV spectral region. First, it is a significant reduction in the accuracy of the transfer of quantities from national standards of the corresponding optical quantities to working units in the CIE UV ranges. Second, when measuring in the UV CIE ranges, it is necessary to use a power meter with constant spectral sensitivity inside these ranges and zero outside it, which is very problematic due to the lack of high-quality UV filters. Third, the accuracy of the results of measuring optical characteristics of UV radiation is reduced significantly by difference in spectral distributions of the radiation intensity of the test and reference radiation sources. One of the promising ways to improve the accuracy of measurements in the UV spectral region is the use of reference radiation sources created based on LEDs, due to their stability and long lifetime.A compact reference UVC source based on state-of-the-art commercially available LED were designed and constructed at B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics NAS of Belarus. The paper presents the design and results of the study of the optical characteristics of the radiation of the reference UVC LED source. A power density of the compact reference UVC LED source is >200 μW/cm2, which provides a fine level for calibrating UV radiometers in range UVC., В метрологическом обеспечении в УФ-области спектра существует ряд проблем. Во-первых, это значительное снижение точности передачи размера величин от национальных эталонов соответствующих оптических величин рабочим средствам измерений в УФ-диапазонах CIE. Во-вторых, при измерении в УФ-диапазонах CIE необходимо использовать средства измерений оптической мощности имеющих постоянную спектральную чувствительностью внутри этих диапазонов и нулевую за его пределами, что очень проблематично из-за отсутствия качественных УФ-фильтров. В-третьих, точность результатов измерения оптических характеристик УФ-излучения существенно снижается из-за различия в спектральных распределениях интенсивности излучения испытуемого и эталонного источников излучения. Одним из перспективных способов повышения точности измерений в УФ-области спектра является использование эталонных источников излучения, созданных на основе светодиодов, благодаря их стабильности и длительному сроку службы.Компактный эталонный источник ультрафиолетового излучения для ультрафиолетового диапазона CIE С, на основе коммерчески доступных современных светодиодов, разработан и изготовлен в Институт физики имени Б.И. Степанова НАН Беларуси. В докладе рассмотрена конструкция и результаты исследования оптических характеристик излучения эталонного светодиодного источника излучения. Плотность мощности компактного эталонного светодиодного источника на расстоянии 500 мм составляет > 200 мкВт/см2, что обеспечивает необходимый уровень для калибровки УФ-радиометров в УФ диапазоне CIE С., У метрологічного забезпечення в УФ-області спектра існує ряд проблем. По-перше, це значне зниження точності передачі розміру величин від національних еталонів відповідних оптичних величин робочим засобам вимірювань в УФ-діапазонах CIE. По-друге, при вимірюванні в УФ-діапазонах CIE необхідно використовувати засоби вимірювань оптичної потужності мають постійну спектральну чутливість всередині цих діапазонів і нульову за його межами, що дуже проблематично через відсутність якісних УФ-фільтрів. По-третє, точність результатів вимірювання оптичних характеристик УФ-випромінювання істотно знижується через відмінності в спектральних розподілах інтенсивності випромінювання випробуваного і еталонного джерел випромінювання. Одним з перспективних способів підвищення точності вимірювань в УФ-області спектра є використання еталонних джерел випромінювання, створених на основі світлодіодів, завдяки їх стабільності і тривалого терміну служби.Компактний еталонний джерело ультрафіолетового випромінювання для ультрафіолетового діапазону CIE С, на основі комерційно доступних сучасних світлодіодів, розроблений і виготовлений в Інституті фізики імені Б.І. Степанова НАН Білорусі. У доповіді розглянута конструкція і результати дослідження оптичних характеристик випромінювання еталонного світлодіодного джерела випромінювання.
