Non‐invasive wide‐field imaging through dynamic random media is a sought‐after goal with important applications ranging from medical diagnosis to remote sensing. However, some existing methods, such as speckle correlation‐based techniques, are limited in field of view due to the memory effect; while some other methods, such as wavefront shaping and transmission matrix techniques, face considerable challenges when applied in dynamic scenarios because of the complexity involved in modulation and measurement. These limitations significantly impede the effectiveness and applicability of these approaches. Here, the concept of virtual reference light (VRL), which allows for the reconstruction of the original object with just a single‐shot detection of the speckle is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate that the imaging field achieves a 3.8‐fold memory effect range. In the experimental setup, the light source and detector are positioned on one side of the random medium, while the sample is placed on the opposite side, enabling non‐invasive detection. Imaging results with both static and dynamic scattering media are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, offering an effective solution for real‐time target imaging and detection. This study aims to develop and validate a prediction model in-hospital mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) based on machine learning algorithms. Patients who met the criteria for inclusion were identified in the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV (MIMIC-IV) database and divided according to the validation (n = 2440) and development (n = 9756, 80%) queues. Ensemble stepwise feature selection method was used to screen for effective features. The prediction models of short-term mortality were developed by seven machine learning algorithms. Ten-fold cross-validation was used to verify the performance of the algorithm in the development queue. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC-AUC) was used to evaluate the differentiation accuracy and performance of the prediction model in the validation queue. The best-performing model was interpreted by Shapley additive explanations (SHAP). A total of 12,196 patients were enrolled in this study. Eleven variables were finally chosen to develop the prediction model. The AUC of the random forest (RF) model was the highest value both in the Ten-fold cross-validation and evaluation (AUC: 0.798, 95% CI: 0.774–0.821). According to the SHAP plots, old age, low Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, high AKI stage, reduced urine output, high Simplified Acute Physiology Score (SAPS II), high respiratory rate, low temperature, low absolute lymphocyte count, high creatinine level, dysnatremia, and low body mass index (BMI) increased the risk of poor prognosis. The RF model developed in this study is a good predictor of in-hospital mortality for patients with SA-AKI in the intensive care unit (ICU), which may have potential applications in mortality prediction. To determine axes line of pipe or structural building which has a round normal section is recurrent in actual building works. The verticality measurement of chimney, TV tower and the deflection measurement of pipe are important to find out the deviation from design in construction, installation and completion. This paper discussed the measurement technique and data processing method for axes line of round normal section based on reflectorless distance measure. Simulation and practical results showed its feasibility and high efficiency.

Objective: Our aim was to assess the correlation between serum bilirubin levels and Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Patients and methods: One hundred and one newly diagnosed patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome and 111 healthy age- and sex-matched individuals in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University (Guangxi, China) from June 2012 to May 2017 were included in this study. Clinical characteristics and laboratory parameters of Guillain-Barré syndrome patients and healthy controls were retrospectively analysed. Results: Serum bilirubin levels in Guillain-Barré syndrome patients were significantly lower as compared with those in healthy controls (p < 0.001); besides, log C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were significantly higher. We found that there was a negative correlation between GBS disability scale scores and total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin (r = −0.541, P < 0.001; r = −0.403, P < 0.001; r = −0.526, P < 0.001), respectively. Among patients with GBS, serum total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, and indirect bilirubin levels were independently associated with Guillain-Barré syndrome disability scale scores in multiple linear regression analysis, respectively. Conclusions: We observed that serum bilirubin levels were lower in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome, and suggested total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, and indirect bilirubin were independently and inversely associated with Guillain-Barré syndrome severity. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics and related functional pathways of the gut microbiota in patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) through metagenomic sequencing technology., Methods: We enrolled individuals with primary IgAN, including patients with normal and abnormal renal function. Additionally, we recruited healthy volunteers as the healthy control group. Stool samples were collected, and species and functional annotation were performed through fecal metagenome sequencing. We employed linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis to identify significantly different bacterial microbiota and functional pathways. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis was used to annotate microbiota functions, and redundancy analysis (RDA) was performed to analyze the factors affecting the composition and distribution of the gut microbiota., Results: LEfSe analysis revealed differences in the gut microbiota between IgAN patients and healthy controls. The characteristic microorganisms in the IgAN group were classified as Escherichia coli , with a significantly greater abundance than that in the healthy control group ( p  < 0.05). The characteristic microorganisms in the IgAN group with abnormal renal function were identified as Enterococcaceae , Moraxella, Moraxella, and Acinetobacter . KEGG functional analysis demonstrated that the functional pathways of the microbiota that differed between IgAN patients and healthy controls were related primarily to bile acid metabolism., Conclusions: The status of the gut microbiota is closely associated not only with the onset of IgAN but also with the renal function of IgAN patients. The characteristic gut microbiota may serve as a promising diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for IgAN.

Background: WWOX plays crucial roles in various tumors. However, so far, minimal research into the role of WWOX in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has been reported. The present study investigates the effects of WWOX overexpression on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in human NPC cell line CNE1., Materials and Methods: A lentiviral vector carrying WWOX was transfected into CNE1 cells. The mRNA abundances of WWOX, MMP9, E-cadherin and WWOX protein were detected using quantitative RT-PCR and Western blotting in the transfected cells compared with the control cells (cells transfected using the empty vector and untransfected cells), respectively. Cell proliferation rates were assessed by plate colony formation assays and methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT). Cell migration and invasion were tested through wound healing assays and/or transwell migration and invasion assays. Cell cycle progression and apoptosis assays were performed by flow cytometry. The protein abundances of activated fragments of caspase-3, cleaved caspase-3 and AKT, phosphorylated p-AKT (Ser473) were measured using Western blotting., Results: Overexpression of WWOX significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration and invasion and induced apoptosis. Moreover, WWOX overexpression led to cell proliferation inhibition via induction of cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase. WWOX suppressed migration and invasion via downregulation of MMP9 and upregulation of E-cadherin. Meanwhile, WWOX could downregulate the phosphorylation of Akt protein kinase and upregulate cleavage of Caspase-3, contributing to inhibition of proliferation and promotion of apoptosis., Conclusion: WWOX gene may be a novel target for gene therapy in NPC., Competing Interests: None., (IJCEP Copyright © 2017.)
