Objectives To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of chest CT for the diagnosis of COVID-19 associated with the clinical presentation and in relation to the PCR-RT. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value, gender, age group and degree of lung involvement will be evaluated. Methods We evaluated 1545 patients with chest CT, delineating the age range and degree of lung involvement, and 306 patients with chest CT and PCR-RT. Results Of the 1545 examinations, 53% were men and 47% were women, there was greater involvement in the 50-59 age group. In the pulmonary study, 55.05% were COVID-19. In the degree of lung involvement 37.70% were mild, 35.76% were moderate, and 26.54% were severe. In the distribution by age, there was a greater involvement between 50-59 years with 56% between moderate (27.6%) and severe (28.0%). Between tomography and PCR-RT, the sensitivity was 68.8%, specificity 59.5%, accuracy 91.3%, with prevalence 31.9%, positive predictive value 44.3% and negative predictive value 80.3%, in females, sensitivity 55.3%, positive predictive value 37.1%, negative predictive value 75.3%, in males, sensitivity 81.6%, positive predictive value 50, 6 and negative predictive value 86.6%.The sensitivities are different between the genders with p of 0.005 and specificity of 0.938, with age effect, starting at 45 years we have a p of 0.057 that decreases to 0.006 at 80 years for sensitivity and specificity. Conclusions The sensitivity and accuracy of CT scan in relation to PCR-RT was significant. Sensitivity increases with prevalence and in the older age group and in men.

Introduction: Contrast computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are widely used due to its image quality and ability to study pancreatic and peripancreatic morphology. The understanding of the various subtypes of the disease and identification of possible complications requires a familiarity with the terminology, which allows effective communication between the different members of the multidisciplinary team. Aim: Demonstrate the terminology and parameters to identify the different classifications and findings of the disease based on the international consensus for acute pancreatitis ( Atlanta Classification 2012). Methods: Search and analysis of articles in the "CAPES Portal de Periódicos with headings "acute pancreatitis" and "Atlanta Review". Results: Were selected 23 articles containing radiological descriptions, management or statistical data related to pathology. Additional statistical data were obtained from Datasus and Population Census 2010. The radiological diagnostic criterion adopted was the Radiology American College system. The "acute pancreatitis - 2012 Rating: Review Atlanta classification and definitions for international consensus" tries to eliminate inconsistency and divergence from the determination of uniformity to the radiological findings, especially the terminology related to fluid collections. More broadly as "pancreatic abscess" and "phlegmon" went into disuse and the evolution of the collection of patient fluids can be described as "acute peripancreatic collections", "acute necrotic collections", "pseudocyst" and "necrosis pancreatic walled or isolated". Conclusion: Computed tomography and magnetic resonance represent the best techniques with sequential images available for diagnosis. Standardization of the terminology is critical and should improve the management of patients with multiple professionals care, risk stratification and adequate treatment. RESUMO Introdução: A tomografia computadorizada contrastada e a ressonância magnética são exames amplamente utilizados no estudo da morfologia pancreática e peripancreática. O entendimento dos diversos subtipos da doença e identificação de suas possíveis complicações requer familiaridade com a terminologia padrão, a qual permite comunicação efetiva entre os diversos membros da equipe multidisciplinar. Objetivo: Demonstrar terminologia e os parâmetros para identificação das diferentes classificações da doença a partir do consenso internacional para as pancreatites agudas (Classificação de Atlanta 2012. Método: Busca e análise de artigos no "Portal de Periódicos da CAPES" com descritores "pancreatite aguda" e "Revisão de Atlanta". Resultado : Foram selecionados 23 artigos que continham descrições radiológicas, manejo ou dados estatísticos relacionados à doença. Dados estatísticos adicionais foram obtidos no sistema Datasus e Censo Demográfico 2010. O critério de diagnóstico radiológico adotado foi o do Colégio Americano de Radiologia. A "Classificação da pancreatite aguda - 2012: revisão da classificação de Atlanta e definições por consenso internacional" tenta eliminar a inconsistência e divergências a partir da determinação de uniformidade para os achados radiológicos, em especial à terminologia relacionada às coleções de fluidos. Termos mais abrangentes como "abscesso pancreático" e "flegmão" entraram em desuso e a evolução da coleção de fluidos pode ser descrita como: "coleções peripancreáticas agudas", "coleções necróticas agudas", "pseudocisto" e "necrose pancreática murada ou isolada". Conclusão: A tomografia computadorizada e a ressonância magnética representam as melhores técnicas com cortes sequenciais disponíveis para diagnóstico. A adequação da terminologia é ponto crítico e deve permitir o manejo do paciente por múltiplos profissionais, estratificação de risco e adequação de tratamento.

Introduction: Among the screening tests for colorectal cancer, colonoscopy is currently considered the most sensitive and specific technique. However, computed tomography colonography (CTC), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and transrectal ultrasonography have gained significant ground in the clinical practice of pre-treatment, screening and, more recently, post-treatment and surgical evaluation. Objective: To demonstrate the high accuracy of CT and MRI for pre and postoperative colorectal cancer staging. Methods: Search and analysis of articles in Pubmed, Scielo, Capes Periodicals and American College of Radiology with headings “colorectal cancer” and “colonography”. Weew selected 30 articles that contained radiological descriptions, management or statistical data related to this type of neoplasia. The criteria for radiological diagnosis were the American College of Radiology. Results : The great majority of patients with this subgroup of neoplasia is submitted to surgical procedures with the objective of cure or relief, except those with clinical contraindication. CTC colonography is not the most commonly used technique for screening; however, it is widely used for treatment planning, assessment of the abdomen for local complications or presence of metastasis, and post-surgical evaluation. MRI colonography is an alternative diagnostic method to CT, recommended by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Although there are still no major studies on the use of MRI for screening, the high resolution examination has now shown good results for the American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM classification. Conclusion: MRI and CT represent the best means for colorectal neoplasm staging. The use of these methods as screening tools becomes beneficial to decrease complications and discomfort related to colonoscopy. RESUMO Introdução : Dentre os testes de rastreamento de câncer colorretal, a colonoscopia é atualmente considerada a técnica de maior sensibilidade e especificidade. Entretanto, a colonografia por tomografia computadorizada (CTC), a ressonância nuclear magnética (RNM) e a ultrassonografia transrretal têm ganhado espaço significativo na prática clínica de análise pré-tratamento, rastreio e, mais recentemente, no pós-tratamento e na avaliação cirúrgica. Objetivo: Demonstrar a alta acurácia da CT e RNM para estadiamento pré e pós-operatório do câncer colorretal. Métodos : Busca e análise de artigos no Pubmed, Scielo, Periódicos Capes e Colégio Americano de Radiologia com descritores “câncer colorretal” e “colonografia”. Foram selecionados 30 artigos que continham descrições radiológicas, manejo ou dados estatísticos relacionados a este tipo de neoplasia. O critério de diagnóstico radiológico adotado foi o do Colégio Americano de Radiologia. Resultados : A maioria dos pacientes portadores desse subgrupo de neoplasias é submetida a procedimentos cirúrgicos com o objetivo de cura ou alívio, exceto aqueles que possuem contraindicação clínica. A colonografia por tomografia computadorizada não é a técnica de maior utilização para rastreamento; no entanto, ela é amplamente utilizada para o planejamento de tratamento, avaliação do abdome quanto à complicações locais ou presença de metástase e avaliação pós-cirúrgica. A colonografia por RNM é método diagnóstico alternativo à CT recomendado pela American Society Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Embora ainda não haja grandes estudos sobre o uso da RNM para rastreamento, atualmente o exame de alta resolução tem apresentado bons resultados para a classificação TNM da American Joint Committee on Cancer. Conclusão : RNM e a TC representam os melhores meios para rastreamento de neoplasias colorretais. O uso destes métodos torna-se benéfico para diminuir as complicações e desconforto relacionadas à colonoscopia.

OBJETIVO: Descrever a expressão citofotométrica quantitativa do marcador caspase-3 no bócio colóide e no carcinoma papilífero da tireóide e comparar a imunoexpessão entre as doenças. MÉTODOS: Realizou-se estudo imunoistoquímico da proteína caspase-3 em 17 blocos de parafina de carcinoma papilífero da tiróide e 20 de bócio colóide, através do sistema SAMBA 4000 - (Sistema de análise microscópica de busca automática), objetivando-se analisar duas variáveis: índice de marcagem e densidade óptica. RESULTADOS: Houve diferença significativa quanto ao índice de marcagem da caspase-3, entre o bócio colóide e o carcinoma papilífero, sendo maior no carcinoma, e não foi encontrada diferença significativa quanto à densidade óptica. Para o bócio colóide, o coeficiente de correlação estimado entre o índice de marcagem e a densidade óptica foi igual a 0,72, indicando assim, a rejeição da hipótese nula (p

To describe quantitative cytophotometric expression of the marker caspase-3 in colloid goiter and in papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, comparing the immunoexpression between them.An immunohistochemistry study has been made on the protein caspase-3 in 17 of paraffin blocks of papillary carcinoma of the thyroid and 20 cases of colloid goiter, using SAMBA 4000 ® (System of Microscopic Analysis of Automatic Search), aiming analysis of the two variables: marker index and optical density.Statistic analysis indicated a significant difference for marker index between colloid goiter and papillary carcinoma, being this difference larger in the carcinoma. Significant difference in optical density hasn't been found. For colloid goiter, the estimated correlation coefficient between the marker index and optical density was 0,72, indicating the rejection of the null hypothesis (p0,001), affirming that positive and significant association exists between them. For the papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, the same correlation was 0,34 and so, it is not possible to affirm that there's an association between them.For colloid goiter there is a positive and significant association between the two variables - marker index and optical density -, while for the papillary carcinoma, this is not proved. The quantitative analysis for caspase-3 demonstrates that apoptosis is larger in the papillary carcinoma of the thyroid than in colloid goiter.

INTRODUÇÃO: A disfagia é o principal sintoma das doenças do esôfago e é representada pela dificuldade em deglutir o alimento ingerido no trajeto da orofaringe até o estômago. Ela é queixa comum na prática clínica diária envolvendo várias especialidades na sua investigação. MÉTODOS: Foi realizada revisão atualizada da literatura internacional através do Pubmed (www.pubmed.com) e nacional (www.lilacs.br) utilizando-se as seguintes palavras-chave: disfagia e transtornos da deglutição. A extensão do tema foi limitado aos seguintes enfoques: etiologia, diagnóstico e exames complementares mais aplicáveis à exploração propedêutica. CONCLUSÃO: Embora a literatura apresente bom entendimento do processo disfágico, no diagnóstico preciso de sua causa há freqüentemente necessidade de múltiplos exames complementares que associados fazem melhor entender o que acomete o paciente e orientará mais adequadamente a conduta a ser tomada BACKGROUND: Dysphagia is the main symptom of diseases of the esophagus, being manifested by deglutition difficulties, which reaches the oropharynx and stomach pathway. Is a common daily complaint in the clinical practice, involving numerous specialties regarding its investigation. METHODS: An international literature review was made using Pubmed (www.pubmed.com) and a national utilizing (www.lilacs.br) the following keywords: dysphagia and deglutition disorders. The extension of the subject was limited to the following areas: etiology, diagnosis and complementary exams which were aplicable to exploratory propedeutics. CONCLUSION: Eventhough the literature presents a good understanding of the dysphagic process, the need for multiple complementary exams is frequent during diagnosis, developing a better understanding of what the patient has, adequately orienting which conduct should be taken.
