We applied reaction microscopy to elucidate fast non-adiabatic dissociation dynamics of deuterated water molecules after direct photo-double ionization at 61 eV with synchrotron radiation. For the very rare D+ + O+ + D breakup channel, the particle momenta, angular, and energy distributions of electrons and ions, measured in coincidence, reveal distinct electronic dication states and their dissociation pathways via spin-orbit coupling and charge transfer at crossings and seams on the potential energy surfaces. Notably, we could distinguish between direct and fast sequential dissociation scenarios. For the latter case, our measurements reveal the geometry and orientation of the deuterated water molecule with respect to the polarization vector that leads to this rare 3-body molecular breakup channel. Aided by multi-reference configuration-interaction calculations, the dissociation dynamics could be traced on the relevant potential energy surfaces and particularly their crossings and seams. This approach also unraveled the ultrafast time scales governing these processes.

We experimentally and theoretically demonstrate that electron correlation can cause the bond-length sensitivity of a shape resonance to induce an unexpected vibrational state-dependent ionization delay in a nonresonant channel. This discovery was enabled by a high-resolution attosecond-interferometry experiment based on a 400-nm driving and dressing wavelength. The short-wavelength driver results in a 6.2-electron volt separation between harmonics, markedly reducing the spectral overlap in the measured interferogram. We demonstrate the promise of this method on O2, a system characterized by broad vibrational progressions and a dense photoelectron spectrum. We measure a 40-attosecond variation of the photoionization delays over the X2Πg vibrational progression. Multichannel calculations show that this variation originates from a strong bond-length dependence of the energetic position of a shape resonance in the [Formula: see text] channel, which translates to the observed effects through electron correlation. The unprecedented energy resolution and delay accuracies demonstrate the promise of visible-light-driven molecular attosecond interferometry.

Abstract Background A Strategic Guiding Council (SGC) was created within a Family Carer Decisions Support study, to engage family carers of persons with advanced dementia as advisors to inform the design and implementation of the study. The SGC consists of an international group of family advisors from Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. There are limited studies that have explored the integration of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in dementia research, end-of-life care and long-term care. Therefore, this study explores PPI engagement in health research with family carers to understand further their interest in being involved in the SCG within the FCDS intervention which is focused on supporting caregivers to make decisions about end-of-life care for residents with advanced dementia. Methods This study utilized an interpretive descriptive design and explored the motivations of ten family advisors from Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands in being part of the SGC. Semi-structured interviews were conducted by phone or videoconferencing and were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Three themes generated from the findings of the study were (1) engaging in reciprocal learning; (2) using lived experience to support other family carers; and (3) creating a collective momentum for advocacy and change. Conclusions Family carers motivations to being part of the SCG was driven by their intent to help carers navigate the health system and to create a psychosocial support system for other carers experiencing end-of-life with their loved ones. Being part of the SCG provided a benefit to family carers which provided a venue for them to contribute meaningful information from their experience, learn from other health professionals, research and other advisors and an avenue for advocacy work to improve access to end-of-life care supports through education. To our knowledge, this is the first study that explores the motivations of an international group of family advisors’ engagement in health research to promote integration of a palliative approach to dementia care in long-term care homes. This study further contributes to the literature from an international perspective the importance of PPI in research. Further research is warranted that explores PPI in research to improve access to end-of-life supports.

We present an investigation of the relaxation dynamics of deuterated water molecules after direct photo-double ionization at 61 eV. We focus on the very rare D+ + O+ + D reaction channel in which the sequential fragmentation mechanisms were found to dominate the dynamics. Aided by theory, the state-selective formation and breakup of the transient OD+(a1Δ, b1Σ+) is traced, and the most likely dissociation path-OD+: a1Δ or b1Σ+ → A 3Π → X 3Σ- → B 3Σ--involving a combination of spin-orbit and non-adiabatic charge transfer transitions is determined. The multi-step transition probability of this complex transition sequence in the intermediate fragment ion is directly evaluated as a function of the energy of the transient OD+ above its lowest dissociation limit from the measured ratio of the D+ + O+ + D and competing D+ + D+ + O sequential fragmentation channels, which are measured simultaneously. Our coupled-channel time-dependent dynamics calculations reproduce the general trends of these multi-state relative transition rates toward the three-body fragmentation channels.

The dissociative single ionization of the LiH molecule using a two-color UV-UV pump-probe scheme is simulated in ab initio calculations demonstrating how the dynamics initiated on intermediate Rydberg states of diatomic molecules can be imaged by such experiments. The theoretical treatment combines nuclear motion with highly correlated descriptions of electronic continua and bound electronic states. Nuclear dynamics on Rydberg states are only weakly reflected by changes in photoelectron energies ejected by time-delayed ionizing pulses if the Rydberg potential curves parallel those of the ion states being produced. However, coincidence measurements guided by knowledge of the photoionization amplitudes as a function of internuclear distance can still reveal intermediate-state dynamics in pump-probe experiments.

We report results for XUV-IR two-photon ionization of Ar, Ne, NO, and O2, where an XUV attosecond pulse train is superimposed with a synchronized IR pulse, obtained at the ATTOLab laser facility using electron–ion coincidence 3D momentum spectroscopy. Temporally resolved photoelectron angular distributions providing angle-resolved time-delays for np ionization of Ar and Ne, achieved by reconstruction of attosecond beating by interference of two-photon transitions through a unified formalism (Joseph et al. in J Phys B At Mol Opt Phys 53:184007, 2020), are summarized. For inner valence XUV-IR dissociative photoionization of NO and O2 molecules, we report electron–ion kinetic energy correlation diagrams and disentangle the dissociative photoionization processes relying on parallel XUV experiments at Synchrotron SOLEIL. For ionization into the NO+(c3Π) ionic state, extending the formalism developed for single-photon ionization, we focus on photoelectron angular distributions averaged on the delay between the XUV and the IR field in the field frame, molecular frame, and electron frame of reference.

Abstract Background While extensive research exists on muscle injuries among adult football players, a notable gap persists in studies concerning younger footballers. The aim of the current study is to provide epidemiological data on the characteristics of time-loss muscle injuries in young football players participating in the Italian Under-19 male elite Championship (“Primavera 1”). Results Conducted as a multicentre, prospective, observational cohort study, this research gathered injury data from the 2022-23 season across 14 of the 18 Clubs in the first Italian Under-19 championship. The cohort comprised 391 players with a mean age (± standard deviation) of 18.0 ± 0.4 years. A total of 479 injuries were reported, resulting in 14,231 days of activity lost. Of these, muscle injuries were 209 (44%), accounting for 4,519 (32%) days lost. Overall muscle injuries incidence was 1.82/1000 hours, with a mean injury burden of 39.4 days lost/1000 hours. Almost all muscle injuries (206 out of 209: 98.5%) occurred in hamstrings, quadriceps, adductors, calf and iliopsoas. Hamstrings injuries were the most burdensome (18.8 days lost/1000 hours) accounting for nearly half of all days lost due to muscle injuries. Incidence and burden of adductors injuries (0.25 injuries and 4.1 days lost/1000 hours, respectively) were found to be comparable to calf injuries (0.24 injuries and 4.7 days lost/1000 hours, respectively). Iliopsoas injuries accounted for a noteworthy portion of the total, with an injury incidence of 0.16/1000 hours and a burden of 3.3 days lost/1000 hours. Objetivo: descrever a experiência no desenvolvimento e integração de tecnologias educativas digitais em saúde em um website voltado para os cuidados domiciliares com recém-nascidos. Método: relato de experiência sistematizado em cinco tempos (ponto de partida, perguntas iniciais, recuperação do processo vivido, reflexão de fundo e pontos de chegada), no período de 2020 a 2024. Concentrou-se no desenvolvimento de tecnologias educativas digitais em um projeto de pesquisa e desenvolvimento tecnológico e social vinculado à extensão universitária. Resultados: o desenvolvimento das tecnologias digitais envolveu a construção, validação e avaliação de dois vídeos animados, dois aplicativos móveis, uma cartilha, vinte e dois podcasts e um website que integrou as 28 tecnologias produzidas. Conclusão: a experiência foi inovadora, promissora e relevante. A abordagem multifacetada e integradora reflete uma diversidade de estratégias para atender às necessidades educativas das famílias, demonstrando ser efetiva na disseminação de informações.

Influenza A virus (IAV) can cause high morbidity and mortality in domestic and wild avian species and it is able to infect mammals as well. IAV in cats is sporadic and self-limiting but the recent findings of high pathogenicity avian influenza virus (HPAIV) with genetic signatures of mammalian adaptation, in domestic cats, has raised new concerns about the potential role of cats in the virus ecology. The present study aimed to investigate the circulation of IAV in companion animals' shelters in North-eastern Italy. All samples were collected from feral cats living in feline colonies that were hosted in the companion animals' shelters for the requisite period to administer the veterinary treatments. Between 2021 and 2022, 389 oropharyngeal swabs and 279 sera were collected. All swabs tested negative for IAV and the only one ELISA positive serum sample resulted H5 positive by HI test with a titer of 1:80. Despite the sporadic occurrence of influenza in cats, continuous monitoring is crucial due to the evolving zoonotic nature of the virus.

Abstract Lippia hermannioides (Verbenaceae) is a species endemic to Brazil with reported antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. The objective of this study was to determine the chemical composition of the essential oil of L. hermannioides leaves (EOLH), using chromatographic and spectrometric methods, as well as its antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory potential by implementing of chemical and thermal nociception models. The results revealed germacrene D (18.39%) as the major compound of the essential oil, followed by bicyclogermacrene (11.72%), 1,8-cineole (11.24%), sabinene (10.38%), E-caryophyllene (8.33%), β-pinene (7.37%), and α-pinene (6.18%). Intraperitoneal administration of EOLH at doses of 300 and 2,000 mg.kg-1 showed no signs of toxicity in mice. EOLH doses of 75 and 300 mg.kg-1 did not affect the animals’ motor coordination in the rotarod test but reduced the number of abdominal writhing induced by acetic acid and decreased paw licking time in both phases of the formalin test. There was also an increased latency time in the hot plate test. These results indicate that this essential oil has antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity, thus supporting further research on the use of this phytotherapeutic resource in the health field.

En las carreras de especialización médica, las actividades de investigación se consideran una parte de la formación que favorece el aprendizaje, el pensamiento crítico y la atención de los pacientes. Desde una perspectiva bioética, centrada en la atención integral de la salud, en este trabajo se analizó la identificación de las necesidades en salud de la población en Trabajos Finales Integradores (TFI) de carreras de especialización médica asistenciales acreditadas. En una muestra conformada por 163 TFI, se indagaron aspectos que pudieran influir en la selección de las variables de estudio y en el modo de abordar las investigaciones. Se utilizó el análisis de contenido para mostrar tanto el contenido manifiesto como el contenido latente de los datos y se realizó un análisis estadístico exploratorio de frecuencias. Se encontró que los TFI se centraban en los procesos biológicos, sin diferencias significativas relacionadas con las temáticas de salud, el ámbito en que se desarrollan y el modelo de las investigaciones, orientadas predominantemente por bibliografía internacional. Desde un punto de vista bioético, se observó escasa integración de otros aspectos de las necesidades en salud, como los determinantes sociales de la salud, la calidad de la atención y la satisfacción de los pacientes, observables en la actividad asistencial más allá del contenido específico del plan de estudio.

Strong-field ionization of molecules releases electrons which can be accelerated and driven back to recombine with their parent ion, emitting high-order harmonics. This ionization also initiates attosecond electronic and vibrational dynamics in the ion, evolving during the electron travel in the continuum. Revealing this subcycle dynamics from the emitted radiation usually requires advanced theoretical modeling. We show that this can be avoided by resolving the emission from two families of electronic quantum paths in the generation process. The corresponding electrons have the same kinetic energy, and thus the same structural sensitivity, but differ by the travel time between ionization and recombination-the pump-probe delay in this attosecond self-probing scheme. We measure the harmonic amplitude and phase in aligned CO_{2} and N_{2} molecules and observe a strong influence of laser-induced dynamics on two characteristic spectroscopic features: a shape resonance and multichannel interference. This quantum-path-resolved spectroscopy thus opens wide prospects for the investigation of ultrafast ionic dynamics, such as charge migration.

We present an experimental and theoretical energy- and angle-resolved investigation on the non-dissociative photoionization dynamics of near-resonant, one-color, two-photon, single valence ionization of neutral O2 molecules. Using 9.3 eV femtosecond pulses produced via high harmonic generation and a 3-D momentum imaging spectrometer, we detect the photoelectrons and O2 + cations produced from one-color, two-photon ionization in coincidence. The measured and calculated photoelectron angular distributions show agreement, which indicates that a superposition of two intermediate electronic states is dominantly involved and that wavepacket motion on those near-resonantly populated intermediate states does not play a significant role in the measured two-photon ionization dynamics. Here, we find greater utility in the diabatic representation compared to the adiabatic representation, where invoking a single valence-character diabat is sufficient to describe the underlying two-photon ionization mechanism.

Filming atomic motion within molecules is an active pursuit of molecular physics and quantum chemistry. A promising method is laser-induced Coulomb Explosion Imaging (CEI) where a laser pulse rapidly ionizes many electrons from a molecule, causing the remaining ions to undergo Coulomb repulsion. The ion momenta are used to reconstruct the molecular geometry which is tracked over time (i.e., filmed) by ionizing at an adjustable delay with respect to the start of interatomic motion. Results are distorted, however, by ultrafast motion during the ionizing pulse. We studied this effect in water and filmed the rapid "slingshot" motion that enhances ionization and distorts CEI results. Our investigation uncovered both the geometry and mechanism of the enhancement which may inform CEI experiments in many other polyatomic molecules.

Nonlinear spectroscopies can disentangle spectra that are congested due to inhomogeneous broadening. In conjunction with theoretical calculations, attosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) four-wave-mixing (FWM) spectroscopy is utilized here to probe the dynamics of autoionizing inner valence excited Rydberg states of the polyatomic molecule, CO2. This tabletop nonlinear technique employs a short attosecond XUV pulse train and two noncollinear, few-cycle near-infrared pulses to generate background-free XUV wave-mixing signals. FWM emission is observed from the n=5-7 states of the Henning sharp ndσg Rydberg series that converges to the ionic Bςu+2 state. However, these transient emission signals decay with lifetimes of 33 ± 6, 53 ± 2, and 94 ± 2 fs, respectively, which calculations show are consistent with the lifetimes of the short-lived n=6-8 members of the nsσg character Henning diffuse Rydberg series. The oscillator strengths of transitions between states involved in all possible resonant FWM processes are calculated, verifying that the nonlinear spectra are dominated by pathways described by an initial excitation to the diffuse nsσg Rydberg series and emission from the sharp ndσg Rydberg series. The results substantiate not only that attosecond XUV FWM spectroscopy produces rigorous and meaningful measurements of ultrafast dynamics in polyatomic systems, but also that nonlinear spectroscopic techniques are versatile tools to selectively probe dynamics that are otherwise difficult to access.

The objective of the research was to analyze the scientific production regarding accident prevention in early child rearing institutions. An integrative literature review, referring to the years between 2011 and 2021, whose research was carried out in May 2021 in seven information resources, raised the following issue: it was found that not all educators considered their knowledge about accident prevention satisfactory. However, most of them had already witnessed cases of injuries of this nature at schools. The first aid actions of these professionals were sometimes inefficient and many of them were not able to perform it due to the lack of appropriate materials and/or training to handle them, showing a need for qualification. The findings show weaknesses related to the knowledge and training of professionals from day care centres and preschools about accident prevention and first aid in early child rearing institutions, which makes a health-education interface crucial.

IntroductionThe use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for assessing and treating cognitive and motor disorders is promoting home-based telerehabilitation. This approach involves ongoing monitoring within a motivating context to help patients generalize their skills. It can also reduce healthcare costs and geographic barriers by minimizing hospitalization. This systematic review focuses on investigating key aspects of telerehabilitation protocols for children with neurodevelopmental or neurological disorders, including technology used, outcomes, caregiver involvement, and dosage, to guide clinical practice and future research.MethodThis systematic review adhered to PRISMA guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO. The PICO framework was followed to define the search strategy for technology-based telerehabilitation interventions targeting the pediatric population (aged 0–18) with neurological or neurodevelopmental disorders. The search encompassed Medline/PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases. Independent reviewers were responsible for selecting relevant papers and extracting data, while data harmonization and analysis were conducted centrally.ResultsA heterogeneous and evolving situation emerged from our data. Our findings reported that most of the technologies adopted for telerehabilitation are commercial devices; however, research prototypes and clinical software were also employed with a high potential for personalization and treatment efficacy. The efficacy of these protocols on health or health-related domains was also explored by categorizing the outcome measures according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). Most studies targeted motor and neuropsychological functions, while only a minority of papers explored language or multi-domain protocols. Finally, although caregivers were rarely the direct target of intervention, their role was diffusely highlighted as a critical element of the home-based rehabilitation setting.DiscussionThis systematic review offers insights into the integration of technological devices into telerehabilitation programs for pediatric neurologic and neurodevelopmental disorders. It highlights factors contributing to the effectiveness of these interventions and suggests the need for further development, particularly in creating dynamic and multi-domain rehabilitation protocols. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of promoting home-based and family-centered care, which could involve caregivers more actively in the treatment, potentially leading to improved clinical outcomes for children with neurological or neurodevelopmental conditions.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO (CRD42020210663).

Electron dynamics in water are of fundamental importance for a broad range of phenomena1-3, but their real-time study faces numerous conceptual and methodological challenges4-6. Here we introduce attosecond size-resolved cluster spectroscopy and build up a molecular-level understanding of the attosecond electron dynamics in water. We measure the effect that the addition of single water molecules has on the photoionization time delays7-9 of water clusters. We find a continuous increase of the delay for clusters containing up to four to five molecules and little change towards larger clusters. We show that these delays are proportional to the spatial extension of the created electron hole, which first increases with cluster size and then partially localizes through the onset of structural disorder that is characteristic of large clusters and bulk liquid water. These results indicate a previously unknown sensitivity of photoionization delays to electron-hole delocalization and indicate a direct link between electronic structure and attosecond photoionization dynamics. Our results offer new perspectives for studying electron-hole delocalization and its attosecond dynamics.
