Abstract

This project develops a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) using the logistic map, implemented in Verilog HDL on an FPGA and processes its output through a Central Limit Theorem (CLT) function to achieve a Gaussian distribution. The system integrates additional FPGA modules for real-time interaction and visualisation, including a clock generator, UART interface, XADC, and a 7-segment display driver. These components facilitate the direct display of PRNG values on the FPGA and the transmission of data to a laptop for histogram analysis, verifying the Gaussian nature of the output. This approach demonstrates the practical application of chaotic systems for generating Gaussian-distributed pseudo-random numbers in digital hardware, highlighting the logistic map's potential in PRNG design., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

Practicing art has been the apparatus to educate myself about the complexities of care, social exclusion, and inequality. I try to provide a lens for my viewers with an oblique angel to view over and beyond utilitarian behavior. Past research and works where I have collaborated with a high school student with cerebral palsy and a specialized academic instructor resurface in relation to a contemporary film by Kazuo Hara. With the collaborative project, the educational apparatus is a tool for inclusion. Mary Anne Doane's book helps to illustrate how the camera method can be used to understand modernity. The pressure created by a set of behaviorist/Taylorist curriculum where there is scripted dialog and publicized reading ranking of students according to their academic “levels” of achievements, relates an entirely new unjust meritocratic system. The major distinction from Taylorism, and my collaborative project, is embedded in the “school-to-work,” or “industry embedded education.” The project was designed through an anti-Taylorist lens. In conclusion, my thesis exhibition is an attempt to collapse many different modes of production. PEMDAS serves as a broken empathy machine, a void evoking questions of control. The power behind educational planning and the consequences of arbitrary goals rooted in Taylorism.

Abstract

A study was conducted to compare outcomes of Medicare beneficiaries who underwent non emergent coronary stenting before and after the availability of drug-eluting stents. Findings reveal that the widespread adoption of drug-eluting stents into routine practice is associated with decline in the need for repeat revascularization procedures.

Abstract

To better understand the role of clergy in relation to the practice of psychology, a systematic review of research on clergy in 8 major American Psychological Association journals was conducted. From 1991 to 1994, 4 of 2,468 (0.02%) quantitative studies considered clergy in their data. This examination of the literature suggests that psychology lacks an original empirical literature that can enable a scientific evaluation of the beneficial or harmful effects of clergy involvement in mental health care. Professional psychology should give greater consideration of and collaboration with clergy.

Abstract

Answering large-scale questions in ecology can involve time-consuming data compilation. We show how networks of undergraduate classes can make these projects more manageable and provide an authentic research experience for students. With this approach, we examined the factors associated with plant species richness in US national wildlife refuges. We found that the richness of harmful invasive plants and the richness of native plants were positively correlated in mainland refuges but negatively correlated in island refuges. Nonnative richness and invasive richness were also positively correlated with colonization pressure as indicated by nonnative richness around each refuge. Associations between refuge characteristics and invasive plants varied substantially among regions, with refuge area and habitat diversity important predictors of invasion in some regions but not in others. Our results serve to identify the refuges that are most susceptible to plant invasion and demonstrate the potential value of a new model for education and research integration.

Abstract

We study the vertex-connectivity and edge-connectivity of the zero-divisor graph [math] associated to a finite commutative ring [math] . We show that the edge-connectivity of [math] always coincides with the minimum degree, and that vertex-connectivity also equals the minimum degree when [math] is nonlocal. When [math] is local, we provide conditions for the equality of all three parameters to hold, give examples showing that the vertex-connectivity can be much smaller than minimum degree, and prove a general lower bound on the vertex-connectivity.
