Hidromeduze su među prvim planktonskim vrstama opisanim u sjevernom Jadranu početkom 20. stoljeća. Ekološke promjene (eutrofikacija) i smanjenje otopljenog kisika uz dno od 1950.‐tih pa nadalje, uspostavili su nove ekološke uvjete u tom akvatoriju. Te promjene uzrokovale su znatno smanjenje biološke raznolikosti bentosa, uključivši meroplanktonske meduze. U ovom radu prikazani su rezultati istraživanja sastava i brojnosti faune hidromeduza sjevernog Jadrana, imajući u vidu njihovu moguću repopulaciju zadnjih godina. Uzorci planktona su sakupljeni mjesečno vertikalnim potezima od dna do površine s WP2 Nansenovom mrežom na četiri postaje. Predstavljeni rezultati obuhvatila su tri vremenska razdoblja: 1999.‐2002., 2003.‐2007. i 2009.‐ 2013. Rezultati jasno ukazuju na porast broja vrsta i njihove brojnosti od prvog razdoblja istraživanja prema zadnjem (2009.‐2013.). Pretpostavljamo da su neke od tih vrsta unesene ulaznim strujama u sjeverni Jadran, međutim, njihova brojnost je višestruko veća u usporedbi s prijašnjim vrijednostima. Zabilježene visoke prosječne i maksimalne vrijednosti za pojedine metagenetske vrste ukazuju ponovnu mogućnost uspostave stabilnih populacija. Ove promjene su u skladu s novonastalim stanjem sastava i brojnosti cjelokupnog planktona sjevernog Jadrana uzrokovanih klimatskim promjenama i posljedičnom oligotrofikacijom istraživanog područja.

Interdisciplinarna ekipa voćarskih stručnjaka iz Slovenije, Hrvatske, BIH ( Republike Srpske) i Srbije u referatu će prikazivati dugogodišnja praktična iskustva na projektiranju i zasnivanju suvremenih visokoproduktivnih voćnjaka, koji su na žalost u svim navedenim zemljama zastupljeni na malim površinama. Ti voćnjaci su standardizirani i podignuti prema najnovijim tehnološkim smjernicama. Za uspješno podizanje novih suvremenih voćnjaka i planiranu eksplotaciju od 12 do 20 godina, prilikom projektiranja treba integrirati i primijeniti sva raspoloživa interdisciplinarna znanja iz raznih područja: • Naprednih voćarskih tehnologija i učinkovite implementacije istih: visoko standardiziranih ili odgovarajućih tehnologija za širenje opće voćarske kulture ( okućnice i voćni vrtovi, travnjački voćnjaci/visokostablašice). • Ekologije, s kontinuiranim usmjerenjima prema manjem opterećenju okoline, proizvođača i krajnjih potrošača te maksimalno optimiziranom potrošnjom FFS, gnojiva, energenata i svih drugih za okoliš opterećujućih čimbenika, koji se koriste u voćarskoj proizvodnji. • Tehnološko optimizirane potrošnje prirodnih resursa: položaja ( ravnica, blago nagnuti tereni, ekstremno nagnuti tereni, nadmorske visina, kontinuirana proizvodnja- lonci), klime ( sunčeve svjetlosti, CO2, vjetrovi, oborine), „ nezagađene okoline“ sa psihoterapeutskim rentama ( bez kemizacije, daleko od prometnica i velikih gradova, velikim biodiverzitetom faune i flore, jednostavnim ljudima i dobrim ugođajem). • Edukacijsko-informacijski i komunikacijsko-kontrolnih on line oruđa podržanih s pedoklimatskim monitorinzima, fenološkim praćenjima i fito-pato-entomo monitorinzima. • Prateća suvremena oprema i mehanizacija za proizvodnju, skladištenje, sortiranje, pakiranje i transport voća. • Optimalnih individualnih organizacijskih znanja i znanja o integracijama- udruživanjima u svim segmentima, od podizanja ( sadnje) voćnjaka, preko standardizirane proizvodnje do skladištenja, pripreme, promocije i prodaje voća. • Aktivacije postojećih institucija struke i politike u sustavno rješavanje individualnih, općinskih, županijskih, regionalnih i nacionalnih voćarskih razvojnih vizija i strategija, s ciljevima dugoročnog zapošljavanja ljudi i njihovog pristojnog življenja od voćarske proizvodnje.

The recruitment of leaping grey mullet, Liza saliens juveniles in the Neretva River estuary (middle eastern Adriatic Sea, Croatia) started in July, was highest in August, decreased in September, and was unobserved later. The juveniles firstly occupied mouths of rivers and channels and then started migrating to more freshwater habitats. By feeding investigation, the harpacticoids were the dominant prey in the stomachs of L. saliens juveniles during the period from August to December and nematodes replaced those as the dominant prey from January to April. Plant material in the stomachs started to appear at 24 mm of standard length, and was common prey in fish larger than 26 mm. In comparison with other Adriatic mullet’ s species, the leaping grey mullet juveniles first started to recruit during July and August, while other grey mullet species appeared later (in September) in the Neretva River estuary. Such intraspecies spawning and recruitment segregation together with the optimal quantity and quality of available and preferable prey could provide an explanation for the recent success and propagation of this species in this area.

Basking shark is a rather rare but constantly present species in the eastern Adriatic Sea. However, over the period 2000-2002 their occurrence in that area highly increased. Based on previous presumption, this paper investigates relations between zooplankton abundance and basking shark occurrence. It appears that increased shark occurrence is not directly influenced by changes in temperature and salinity. However, obtained data suggest relative importance of copepods, especially of Calanus helgolandicus, in relation to the occurrence of basking sharks.

International audience; Growth of juvenile Diplodus puntazzo from the Kornati Archipelago, eastern middle Adriatic Sea was analysed. A total of 663 juveniles, ranging in length from 1.6 to 9.3 cm, were caught. Most individuals (98.80%) belonged to the 0 cohort. The first settlers, aged 2.0-2.5 months, were recorded at the end of November. Relationship between total length and weight indicates positive allometric growth (b = 3.181). The condition factor, as a consequence of length-weight relationship, was CF = 1.55. The Gompertz equation (c = 0.038 mm days-1 ; R2 = 0.832) seems to be the most appropriate for the description of young D. puntazzo growth.

The feeding habits of sand smelt, Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810 in the mouth of the Mala Neretva River were studied by examining the stomach contents of 1236 fishes collected from March 2001 to February 2002. Thirteen different food categories were identified. The greatest diversity was recorded in winter, especially in January, when 11 categories were present. The minimum (4) was in September, and was associated with the highest number of empty stomachs. Marine and estuarine species represented the bulk of the prey, while typically fresh-water species (Daphnia spp. and Cyclops spp.) were found only sporadically. Crustaceans were the most common prey and, of these, the most common were copepods (45%), followed by gammarid amphipods (34%), cladocerans (13%), decapod larvae (12%) and mysids (8%). Insects represented 7%. The percentage number of prey showed high seasonal variations. Copepods dominated in autumn and winter, cyclopoids in April, poecilostomatoids and harpacticoids in December, and calanoids in January and February. Decapod larvae dominated in March-May, and mysids in July-August. PCA and clustering analysis was performed on the prey data in order to reveal associations between prey items or seasonal similarities. The opportunistic mode of feeding of the species Atherina boyeri is also discussed. Los hábitos alimenticios del pejerrey, Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810 en la boca del río Mala Neretva se estudiaron mediante el examen del contenido estomacal de 1236 peces recolectados desde marzo de 2001 a febrero de 2002. Se identificaron 13 categorías diferentes de alimento. La mayor diversidad se observó en invierno, especialmente en enero, en que estuvieron presentes 11 categorías.. El mínimo (4) se observó en septiembre, y se asoció al mayor número de estómagos vacíos. Las especies marinas y estuáricas representaron el principal grupo de presas, mientras que especies típicas de agua dulce (Daphnia spp. y Cyclops spp.) se encontraron sólo esporádicamente. Los crustáceos fueron las presas más comunes, siendo los copépodos los más frecuentes (45%), seguido de los amfípodos gammaridos (34%), cladóceros (13%), larvas de decápodos 12%, misidáceos 8%, e insectos 7%. El porcentaje de presas mostró una alta variación estacional. En general, los copépodos dominaron en otoño e invierno: los Cyclopoides fueron más numerosos en abril, los poecilostomátidos y harpacticoides en diciembre y los calanoides en enero y febrero. Las larvas de decápodo dominaron en marzo-mayo y los misidáceos en julio-agosto. Con los datos de presas se realizaron análisis multivariantes para revelar asociaciones entre presas o similaridades estacionales. En este trabajo se discute, también, el modelo de alimentación de tipo oportunista de la especie Atherina boyeri.

The distribution of Centropages species is associated to the origin of the water masses. So-called Atlantic sepcies are associated basically to the Western Basin, and so-called "well Mediterranean adapted" show a distribution driven by its physiological constraints and, in consequence, they might be influenced by the Mediterranean gradients.

Poluotok Pelješac s neposrednim zaleđem i Stonom pripadaju geodinamskom pojasu Dinarida u kojemu se recentno prati učestala seizmična aktivnost. Osnovni generator tektonske aktivnosti nalazi se u dubljim dijelovima Jadranske ploče koja je u konvergentnom odnosu s neposrednim kontinentalnim zaleđem. Strukturne odnose karakterizira sustav longitudinalnih rasjeda i izoklinalnih bora (SZ-JI pružanja) djelomično prebačenih koji su zajedno presječeni rasjednim sustavom sjever-jug pružanja otvorenim u najmlađim kinematskim razdobljima. Istraživanja analizatorom PA-915 za vrijeme zemljotresa u Stonu (1996) zabilježena je drastična koncetracija olovnih emanacija u neposrednoj blizini glavne rasjedne zone što može biti od velikog značaja u predviđanjima budućih seizmičkih događaja.

Ston sa neposrednom okolinom pripada Dubrovačkom primorju u kojem se zapažaju geomorfološka obilježja inherentna većem dijelu Dinarida. To je karakteristično ulančano pružanje gorskih masiva od sjeverozapada prema jugoistoku (“dinaridsko pružanje”) s nizom uzdužnih polja, dolina i drugih krških oblika. Ovakovi geomorfološki odnosi odraz su strukturno-tektonskih koji su vrlo složeni. Ovdje se sijeku stariji, reversni rasjedi koji se pružaju SZ-JI (“dinaridski”) sa mlađim rasjedima dijagonalnog i horizontalnog pomaka blokova koji se pružaju približno S-J. Upravo ovakovi tektonski odnosi imaju za posljedicu izrazitu seizmičku aktivnost u današnje vrijeme.

There is a lack of knowledge on bivalve species in the lake Malo jezero. This paper deals with spatial distribution of bivalves with the aim of getting better understanding of ecological conditions in this protected area. A study of bivalves was conducted at 25 stations in saltwater lake Malo jezero in 1998. Bivalve samples were collected with the SCUBA using a specially designed hand-dredge. Sediment samples were collected by dragging a small plastic container along adjacent sediment surface. A total of 31 bivalve species were identified, of which all but five could be identified to the species level. Live individualswere found four fourteen of these species. Gastrana fragilis, Psammobia fervensis, Tapes decussatus and Mysia undata were found for the first time in Malo jezero. Statistical analyses of samples established the difference in spatial distriibution of bivalves with respest to depth: both the number of bivalve species and the number of specimens decreases with increasing depth. Stations of the same or similar depths, located in different parts of the lake, had a high index of faunistic similarity. Sediment type was correlated with the changes in depth: the proportion of sand decreases and the proportion of mud increases with increasing depth. The results of this study indicate that sediment is one of important abiotic factors that restrict the spatial distribution of bivalves to shallow parts of lake Malo jezero, and that living bivalves are all represented in locally accumulating death assemblage.
