BackgroundImaging factors, specifically baseline plaque features on high-resolution magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging (HR-VWI) that could be associated with in-stent restenosis (ISR), are still unknown. We aimed to investigate the presenting clinical and plaque features on HR-VWI associated with ISR.MethodsSixty-four patients with intracranial stent placement for intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis who had pre- and post-contrast T1-weighted HR-VWI on 3.0T prior to stenting were included in this analysis. Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, χ2 test, or the Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel (CMH) test were used to compare clinical and baseline HR-VWI characteristics of the patients between the ISR and non-ISR groups. Univariable and multivariable logistic analysis were used to test the clinical and imaging factors associated with ISR.ResultsAmong the 64 patients, 9 patients (14.06%) developed ISR during the 2-year follow-up period. Plaque burden (median 0.89 vs 0.92, P=0.04), minimum lumen area (0.009 cm2 vs 0.006 cm2, P=0.04), plaque eccentricity (55.6% vs 89.1%, P＜0.01), enhancement ratio (1.36 vs 0.84, P＜0.01), and enhancement involvement (type 2 represents ≥50% cross-sectional wall involvement; 100% vs 63.6%, P=0.03) all significantly differed between patients with and without ISR. Multivariable analysis revealed that lower frequency of plaque eccentricity (OR 0.18, 95% CI 0.04 to 0.96, P=0.04) and higher enhancement ratio (OR 3.57, 95% CI 1.02 to 12.48, P=0.04) were independently associated with ISR.ConclusionsPreliminary findings showed that ISR was independently associated with plaque concentricity and higher enhancement ratios on pre-stenting HR-VWI for patients with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis.

This study segmented the time series of gaze behavior from nineteen children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and 20 children with typical development in a face-to-face conversation. A machine learning approach showed that behavior segments produced by these two groups of participants could be classified with the highest accuracy of 74.15%. These results were further used to classify children using a threshold classifier. A maximum classification accuracy of 87.18% was achieved, under the condition that a participant was considered as 'ASD' if over 46% of the child's 7-s behavior segments were classified as ASD-like behaviors. The idea of combining the behavior segmentation technique and the threshold classifier could maximally preserve participants' data, and promote the automatic screening of ASD.

Few eye tracking studies have examined how people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) visually attend during live interpersonal interaction, and none with the Chinese population. This study used an eye tracker to record the gaze behavior in 20 Chinese children with ASD and 23 children with typical development (TD) when they were engaged in a structured conversation. Results demonstrated that children with ASD looked significantly less at the interlocutor's mouth and whole-face, and more at background. Additionally, gaze behavior was found to vary with the conversational topic. Given the great variability in eye tracking findings in existing literature, future explorations might consider investigating how fundamental factors (i.e., participant's characteristics, tasks, and context) influence the gaze behavior in people with ASD.

This study investigated the oculomotor performance in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) during a face-to-face conversation. A head mounted eye tracker recorded the eye movements in 20 children with ASD and 23 children with typical development (TD). Group comparisons were conducted on the randomness and the quantity of eye movement. The amount of time needed to reveal group difference was also examined. Results showed that the randomness of eye movement was significantly higher at all examined time durations, and the amount of eye movement was significantly greater within 3 s in the ASD group. These findings demonstrated an atypical pattern of oculomotor dynamics in children ASD, which might facilitate the objective identification of ASD during daily social interaction.

BackgroundIntracranial artery dissection (IAD) often causes headache and cerebral vascular ischemic events. The imaging characteristics of IAD remain unclear. This study aims to characterize the appearance of culprit and non-culprit IAD using high-resolution cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (hrCMR) and quantify the incremental value of hrCMR in identifying higher risk lesions.MethodsImaging data from patients who underwent intervention examination or treatment using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and hrCMR using a 3 T CMR system within 30 days after the onset of neurological symptoms were collected. The CMR protocol included diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), black blood T1-, T2- and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted sequences. Lesions were classified as culprit and non-culprit according to imaging findings and patient clinical presentations. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to assess the difference between culprit and non-culprit lesions and complementary value of hrCMR in identifying higher risk lesions.ResultsIn total, 75 patients were included in this study. According to the morphology, lesions could be classified into five types: Type I, classical dissection (n = 50); Type II, fusiform aneurysm (n = 1); Type III, long dissected aneurysm (n = 3); Type IV, dolichoectatic dissecting aneurysm (n = 9) and Type V, saccular aneurysm (n = 12). Our study investigated the feasibility of using head movement features to identify individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children with ASD and typical development (TD) were required to answer ten yes--no questions, and they were encouraged to nod/shake head while doing so. The head rotation range (RR) and the amount of rotation per minute (ARPM) in the pitch (head nodding direction), yaw (head shaking direction) and roll (lateral head inclination) directions were computed, and further fed into machine learning classifiers as the input features. The maximum classification accuracy of 92.11% was achieved with the decision tree classifier with two features (i.e., RR_Pitch and ARPM_Yaw). Our study suggests that head movement dynamics contain objective biomarkers that could identify ASD.

BackgroundPatients with intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) have a high frequency of stroke recurrence. However, there has been little investigation into the prognostic value of higher-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI).PurposeTo investigate the use of intracranial atherosclerotic plaques features in predicting risk of recurrent cerebrovascular ischemic events using HR-MRI.Study typeProspective.PopulationFifty-eight patients with acute/subacute stroke (N = 46) or transient ischemic attack (N = 12).Field strength/sequenceA 3.0 T, 3D time-of-flight gradient echo sequence and T1- and T2-weighted fast spin echo sequences with 0.31 x 0.39 mm2 in-plane resolution, twice (with >3 months between scans) following the initial event.AssessmentPatients were also followed clinically for recurrent ischemic events for up to 48 months or until a subsequent event occurred. BackgroundThere are differences in executive function between major depressive episode patients with or without psychotic symptoms， and childhood trauma may affect the executive function of patients with major depressive episode. Previous research studies predominantly focused on adult patients with major depressive episode， with a lack of studies specifically focusing on adolescent patients with major depressive episode.ObjectiveTo investigate the differences in executive function among adolescent patients with major depressive episode， with or without psychotic symptoms and childhood trauma.MethodsA total of 112 hospitalized adolescent patients with major depressive episode who met the criteria of the International Classification of Diseases， tenth edition （ICD-10） were included in the study. The participants were recruited from the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry， Shenzhen Kangning Hospital during the period from August 2020 to November 2021. Additionally， 27 healthy controls were recruited through public advertisements. The Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery （CANTAB） was used to assess executive function through the administration of the Motor Screening Task （MOT）， Spatial Working Memory（SWM） and Rapid Visual Information Processing （RVP） modules. Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form （CTQ-SF） was used to assess the trauma type.ResultsCompared with healthy controls， adolescent patients with major depressive episode had a longer mean delay （Z=-3.407， P=0.001） in the MOT task. In the SWM task， the patients had a higher total number of intergroup error responses （Z=-3.291， P=0.001）， a higher total number of intragroup error responses （Z=-3.461， P=0.001）， more total number of double error responses （Z=-3.218， P=0.001）， a higher total error responses （Z=-3.312， P=0.001）， higher strategy scores （Z=-2.437， P=0.015） and longer average delay time （Z=-2.055， P=0.040）. In the RVP task， the patients had fewer hits （Z=-3.196， P=0.001）， more misses （Z=-3.179， P=0.001）， fewer rejections （Z=-2.772， P=0.006）， lower hit probability （Z=-3.187， P=0.001） and lower A´ scores （Z=-3.070， P=0.002）.Compared with adolescent patients with major depressive episode without psychotic symptoms， those with psychotic symptoms had a lower total number of double error responses （Z=-2.566， P=0.010） in SWM task. Compared with adolescent patients with major depressive episode who did not experience emotional neglect， those who experienced emotional neglect had longer average delay time （Z=-3.183， P=0.001） in MOT task， fewer total hits （Z=-2.445， P=0.014）， more total missed reports （Z=-2.467， P=0.014）， lower hit probability （Z=-2.445， P=0.014） and lower A´scores （Z=-2.089， P=0.037） in RVP task. Adolescent patients with major depressive episode who had experienced emotional abuse had longer average delay time in MOT task than those who had not experienced emotional abuse （Z=-2.552， P=0.011）.ConclusionAdolescent patients with major depressive episode exhibit abnormalities in a majority of executive function domains. Objective To investigate the expression of ITGBL1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its role in promoting the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cell lines. Methods RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry were used in investigating ITGBL1 expression in 12 pairs of fresh HCC and adjacent normal liver tissue samples and 160 paraffin HCC specimens. The relationships of ITGBL1 expression level with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis were analyzed. HUH7 cell line with the stable overexpression of ITGBL1 and LM3 cell line with stable downregulated expression of ITGBL1 were constructed. The effects of ITGBL1 on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells were examined by CCK8 assay, wound-healing assay, and Transwell invasion assay. Results The expression levels of ITGBL1 gene and protein in tumor tissues were higher than those in surrounding liver tissues. The high expression of ITGBL1 was correlated with serum AFP level, tumor capsular invasion, vascular invasion, tumor differentiation, and clinical stage (P < 0.05). The results of Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with high expression of ITGBL1 had shorter DFS. In vitro, increased ITGBL1 expression promoted HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, whereas ITGBL1 knockdown inhibited these processes. Conclusion ITGBL1 expression is highly expressed in HCC tissues, and ITGBL1 can increase the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells. However, the mechanism needs further study.
