As a traditional Chinese approach, electroacupuncture (EA) has a positive influence in relieving chronic pain from KOA. The study aims to explore functional connectivity (FC) and effective connectivity (EC) alterations induced by EA in anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) rat model of KOA using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).Methods: After the establishment of ACLT, rats were randomly divided into the EA group and the sham-EA group. The EA group received EA intervention while the sham-EA group received sham-intervention for 3 weeks. Mechanical pain threshold (MPT) assessment was performed before and after intervention, and fMRI was conducted after intervention.Results: EA intervention effectively relieved pain in post-ACLT rats. Results of rest-state functional connectivity (rs-FC) analysis revealed that compared with the sham-EA group, the EA group had higher FC between the right raphe and the left auditory cortex, the left caudate_ putamen and the left internal capsule (IC), as well as the right zona incerta (ZI) and the left piriform cortex, but lower FC between the right raphe and the left hippocampus ventral, as well as the right septum and the left septum. Furthermore, Granger causality analysis (GCA) found the altered EC between the right septum and the left septum, as well as the left IC and the right septum.Conclusion: The results confirmed the effect of EA on analgesia in post- ACLT rats. 2. Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy of Cinnamon Essential Oil by Nanoemulsification for Intravaginal Treatment of Candida Vaginitis

Although cinnamon essential oil (CEO) possesses antifungal activity, its hydrophobic properties limit its clinical application.Purpose: To overcome this challenge, a nanoemulsification technology was employed to prepare cinnamon essential oil-nanoemulsion (CEO@NE), and its therapeutic efficacy and action mechanism for Candida vaginitis was investigated in vivo and in vitro.Materials and Methods: CEO@NE, composed of 4% CEO, 78% distilled water, and 18% Tween 80, was prepared by ultrasonic nanoemulsification. The physical properties, anti-Candida activity, cytotoxicity, immunomodulatory potential and storage stability of CEO@NE were explored. Subsequently, the effect of intravaginal CEO@NE treatment on Candida vaginitis was investigated in mice. To comprehend the possible mechanism of CEO@NE, an analysis was conducted to ascertain the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) in C. albicans.Results: CEO@NE, with the droplet size less than 100 nm and robust storage stability for up to 8 weeks, exhibited comparable anti-Candida activity with CEO. CEO@NE at the concentration lower than 400 μg/mL had no cytotoxic and immunomodulatory effects on murine splenocytes. Intravaginal treatment of CEO@NE (400 μg/mL, 20 μL/day/mouse for 5 consecutive days) curbed Candida colonization, ameliorated histopathological changes, and suppressed inflammatory cytokine production in mice intravaginally challenged with C. albicans. Notably, this treatment preserved the density of vaginal lactic acid bacteria (LAB) crucial for vaginal health. Co-culturing C. albicans with CEO@NE revealed concentration-dependent augmentation of intracellular ROS generation and ensuing cell death. In addition, co-culturing LPS-stimulated murine splenocytes with CEO@NE yielded a decrease in the generation of cytokines.Conclusion: This discovery provides insight into the conceivable antifungal and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of CEO@NE to tackle Candida vaginitis. However, the effectiveness and timing of early PR on hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) is still debated.Methods: This study conducted a meta-analysis to compare the outcome benefits between early PR and usual care for patient hospitalized due to AECOPD. A systematic search was performed for retrieving randomized control trials (RCTs) from the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane library until November 2021. RCTs reporting early PR for AECOPD with hospitalization, either during admission or within four weeks of discharge, were enrolled for systematic review and meta-analysis.Results: Twenty RCTs (1274 participants) were included. Early PR showed significantly improved readmission rate (ten trials, risk ratio 0.68, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.50– 0.92), 6-minute walking distance (6MWD, twelve trials, MD 59.73, 95% CI 36.34– 83.12), St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire score (eight trials, MD − 10.65, 95% CI − 14.78 to − 6.52), Borg score (eight trials, MD − 0.79, 95% CI − 1.26 to − 0.32), and modified Medical Research Council dyspnea scale (eight trials, MD − 0.38, 95% CI − 0.5 to − 0.25). However, the trend of mortality (six trials, risk ratio 0.72, 95% CI 0.39– 1.34) benefit was not significant. The subgroup analysis showed non-significant trends of better effect in early PR during admission than those after discharge for outcomes of 6MWD, quality of life, and dyspnea. Abstract: Background: The electromagnetic form factors of the proton measured by unpolarized and polarized electron scattering experiments show a significant disagreement that grows with the squared four-momentum transfer (Q2). Calculations have shown that the two measurements can be largely reconciled by accounting for the contributions of two-photon exchange (TPE). TPE effects are not typically included in the standard set of radiative corrections since theoretical calculations of the TPE effects are highly model dependent, and, until recently, no direct evidence of significant TPE effects has been observed. Purpose: We measured the ratio of positron-proton to electron-proton elastic-scattering cross sections in order to determine the TPE contribution to elastic electron-proton scattering and thereby resolve the proton electric form factor discrepancy. Methods: We produced a mixed simultaneous electron-positron beam in Jefferson Lab's Hall B by passing the 5.6-GeV primary electron beam through a radiator to produce a bremsstrahlung photon beam and then passing the photon beam through a convertor to produce electron-positron pairs. The mixed electron-positron (lepton) beam with useful energies from approximately 0.85 to 3.5 GeV then struck a 30-cm-long liquid hydrogen (LH2) target located within the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS). By detecting both the scattered leptons and the recoiling protons, we identified and reconstructed elastic scattering events and determined the incident lepton energy. A detailed description of the experiment is presented. Results: We present previously unpublished results for the quantity R2γ, the TPE correction to the elastic-scattering cross section, at Q2≈0.85 and 1.45 GeV2 over a large range of virtual photon polarization ?. Conclusions: Our results, along with recently published results from VEPP-3, demonstrate a nonzero contribution from TPE effects and are in excellent agreement with the calculations that include TPE effects and largely reconcile the form-factor discrepancy up to Q2≈2GeV2. These data are consistent with an increase in R2γ with decreasing ? at Q2≈0.85 and 1.45 GeV2. There are indications of a slight increase in R2γ with Q2.

5. Increased risk of peripheral arterial occlusive diseases in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a nationwide study in Taiwan

Previous studies including limited sample sizes have shown the prevalence of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) among COPD patients. We sought to investigate the incidence of PAOD among COPD patients in Taiwan using a national database.Methods: COPD patients were collected from the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan from 1996 to 2010. The COPD cohort was propensity score matched according to age, sex, and comorbidities of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cerebrovascular accidents, and chronic liver disease to patients without COPD (the control cohort). We evaluated the incidence of PAOD in COPD patients and the risk of PAOD associated with atrial fibrillation, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cerebrovascular accidents, and chronic liver disease.Results: The study included 51,869 COPD patients and 51,869 control patients without COPD. The incidence of PAOD was 1.23-fold higher (95% confidence interval [CI] =1.17–1.29) in the COPD group than in the non-COPD group. Although it results in a 95% mortality rate, the development of targeted therapies for SCLCs has lagged behind. The aim of this study is to better research mutation characteristics of SCLC and identify potential biomarkers for target therapy.Methods: We utilized high- resolution melting analysis to identify the mutations in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS), v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1 (BRAF), phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase catalytic (PIK3CA) from the blood. A cohort of 99 SCLC patients including 44 limited-stage disease patients and 55 extensive-stage disease patients were prospectively collected. Results: EGFR 18 (G719X) mutation was found in 5 patients, EGFR 19 (del) mutation in 2, EGFR 20 (T790M) in 3, EGFR 21 (L858R) in 2, KRAS 2 (G13D) in 5, BRAF 15 (V600E) in 1, PIK3CA 9 (E542K) in 1, and no mutations in PTEN 5 (R130G), PTEN 6 (R173C), PTEN 8 (T319fs*1), and PIK3CA 20 (H1047R) were identified. Among these patients, two harbored EGFR double mutation, one patient with EGFR double mutation and KRAS 2 (G13D) mutation. Conclusion: The mutation form of EGFR may differ from lung adenocarcinoma, and mutations of KRAS, BRAF, and PIK3CA were rare in SCLC. Case descriptions: A 69-year-old male presented with pain in the left waist and back of 1 month duration. The renal abscess was suspected by magnetic resonance imaging before operation. The perirenal hematoma was cleaned by operation. In another case, the patient had a functional solitary left kidney compressed by a huge retroperitoneal mass and uropenia appeared. Results: The first patient died of adult respiratory distress syndrome after surgery. The second patient died of cardiac insufficiency and pulmonary embolism on the second day after evacuation of retroperitoneal hematoma. Conclusion: Conservative surgery, such as selective arterial embolization, is a reasonable approach in patients with chronic spontaneous retroperitoneal and perirenal space hemorrhage and with poor general condition. 8. Risk of empyema in patients with COPD

The risk of empyema in COPD is controversial, and its incidence has not been reported. The aim of our study was to determine the risk of empyema in COPD patients and to assess its risk factors. Patients and methods: We used the National Health Insurance Research Database in Taiwan to conduct an observational cohort study. This study analyzed patients who were diagnosed with COPD between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2009. The earliest date of COPD diagnosis was designated the index date. Patients who were younger than 40 years or had empyema before the index date were excluded. Results: We analyzed 72,085 COPD patients in our study. The incidence of empyema was higher in the COPD group than in the non-COPD group (15.80 vs 4.34 per 10,000 person-years). The adjusted hazard ratio for empyema was 3.25 (95% CI =2.73–3.87) in patients with COPD compared with patients without COPD. COPD patients with only comorbidity of stroke, cancer, and chronic renal disease had adjusted hazard ratios of 1.88, 4.84, and 3.90, respectively. Conclusion: The likelihood of developing empyema is higher in patients with COPD than in those without COPD. Some comorbidities, such as stroke, cancer, and chronic renal disease, are associated with an elevated risk for empyema in COPD patients. Keywords: risk factors, empyema, COPD

However, the association between FGFR1 amplification and the clinicopathological characteristics of NSCLC remains controversial. We performed a meta-analysis of 17 eligible studies to examine the correlation between FGFR1 gene amplification and clinicopathological characteristics. FGFR1 amplification was closely related to these clinicopathological features, including sex (odds ratio [OR] 2.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.50–2.80), smoking (OR 3.31, 95% CI 2.02–5.44), and histology (OR 3.60, 95% CI 2.82–4.59). FGFR1 amplification was associated with shorter overall survival, and no significant heterogeneity existed between studies (I2=3.8%). We should note that publication bias may partly account for these results, but our findings remained significant after the trim-and-fill method (hazard ratio 1.22, 95% CI 1.06–1.40). However, no significant correlation was found with poor disease-free survival (hazard ratio 1.43, 95% CI 0.96–2.12). In conclusion, this study showed that FGFR1 amplification was significantly associated with sex, smoking, and histology. Abstract: Fe-based amorphous magnetic materials are recently attracting strong interests for constructing high-power density and high-efficiency rotating electrical machines due to their attractive properties, such as low core loss and high magnetic saturation. Accurate measurement and modeling of the rotational core losses of the core magnetic materials, and the corresponding patterns of rotating magnetic flux density ( $B$ ) and magnetic field strength ( $H$ ) are important for the analysis and design of electrical machines. This article presents the measurement of rotational core loss of a Fe-based amorphous magnetic material (amorphous 1k101), and its corresponding modelings under two-dimensional (2-D) circularly and elliptically rotating magnetic fields. In addition, an improved and simplified analogical model of rotational hysteresis loss is proposed for such magnetic materials. The circular and elliptical $B$ loci and the corresponding $H$ loci have been investigated to acquire the perception of anisotropy and permeability of the amorphous materials. The proposed theory and models are experimentally verified.

Abstract: High-temperature superconductor (HTS) bulks have shown very promising potential for industrial applications due to their highly attractive superconducting characteristics. The practical application, however, has been handicapped by the AC losses. In rotating electrical machines, the magnetic field is a combination of alternating and rotating fields. All the AC loss studies presented in the literature so far have only focused on the alternating AC loss due to the unavailability of experimental techniques and analytical models. This paper presents a numerical investigation of AC loss by using the H-formulation under various two-dimensional rotating magnetizations with the magnetic flux density vectors rotating in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions in the XOY, XOZ, and YOZ planes. The modeling results show that the rotational AC loss of HTS bulk material is significantly higher than the alternating AC loss.

Abstract: Fe-based amorphous magnetic materials are attracting more and more attentions in the application of low and medium frequency transformers due to their favorable properties of low core loss and high saturation magnetic flux density. Accurate modelling of their static and dynamic characteristics is required for analysis and design optimization of low and medium frequency transformers. In particular, for numerical analysis using the vectorial magnetic potential, an inverse magnetic hysteresis model is needed to predict the magnetic field strength from the magnetic flux density. When the excitation varies with time, the magnetic hysteresis model must be able to predict the dynamic hysteresis characteristics. This paper presents a generalized inverse Preisach dynamic hysteresis model for dynamic characterization of Fe-based magnetic materials. This model incorporates the reversible magnetization and magnetization dependent hysteresis, as well as all core loss components, including the hysteresis, eddy current, and excess losses. The proposed model can predict accurately the magnetic field strength from the magnetic flux density and hence accurate core losses. The predicted results are verified by experimental measurements.

With the development of advanced soft magnetic materials of high-saturation flux density and low specific core loss and semiconductor power devices, the high-frequency transformer (HFT) has received significant attention in recent years for its widespread emerging applications. The optimal design of high-power-density HFTs for high-performance energy conversion systems is, however, a multiphasic problem that needs special considerations on various aspects such as core material selection, minimization of parasitic components, and thermal management. This paper presents a comprehensive review on advancement of soft magnetic materials for high-power-density magnetic devices and advanced technologies for characterizations and optimal design of HFTs. The future research and development trends are also discussed.

Abstract: Excited states in 63,65,67Mn were studied via in-beam γ -ray spectroscopy following knockout reactions from 68Fe. Similar level schemes, consisting of the 11/2−, 9/2−, 7/2− and 5/2− g.s. level sequence, connected by I → I − 1 transitions, were established, the first time for 65,67Mn. Their level structures show features consistent with strongly-coupled rotational bands with K = 5/2. State-of-the-art shellmodel calculations with the modified LNPS effective interaction reproduce the observed levels remarkably well and suggest the dominance of 4-particle-4-hole neutron configurations for all the states. The data on the low-lying excited states of odd-mass 53−67Mn provide a textbook example of nuclear structure evolution from weak coupling through decoupling to strong coupling along a single isotopic chain on the n-rich side of the β stability line. These results help to deepen our understanding of the N = 40 “island of inversion”.

20. Web-Page Recommendation Based on Web Usage and Domain Knowledge

Abstract: © 1989-2012 IEEE. Web-page recommendation plays an important role in intelligent Web systems. Useful knowledge discovery from Web usage data and satisfactory knowledge representation for effective Web-page recommendations are crucial and challenging. This paper proposes a novel method to efficiently provide better Web-page recommendation through semantic-enhancement by integrating the domain and Web usage knowledge of a website. Two new models are proposed to represent the domain knowledge. The first model uses an ontology to represent the domain knowledge. The second model uses one automatically generated semantic network to represent domain terms, Web-pages, and the relations between them. Another new model, the conceptual prediction model, is proposed to automatically generate a semantic network of the semantic Web usage knowledge, which is the integration of domain knowledge and Web usage knowledge. A number of effective queries have been developed to query about these knowledge bases. Based on these queries, a set of recommendation strategies have been proposed to generate Web-page candidates. The recommendation results have been compared with the results obtained from an advanced existing Web Usage Mining (WUM) method. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method produces significantly higher performance than the WUM method.

21. Performance analysis of a linear motor with HTS bulk magnets for driving a prototype HTS maglev vehicle

Abstract: This paper presents the performance analysis of a linear synchronous motor which employs high-temperature superconducting (HTS) bulk magnets on the mover and normal copper windings on the stator. The linear motor is designed to drive a prototype HTS maglev vehicle in which the mover is suspended by the levitation force between HTS bulks on the mover and permanent magnets on the ground. Finite element magnetic field analysis is conducted to calculate the major parameters of the linear motor and an equation is derived to calculate the electromagnetic thrust force. 22. Medium-frequency-link power conversion for high power density renewable energy systems

Abstract: Recent advances in solid-state semiconductors and magnetic materials have provided the impetus for medium frequency-link based medium voltage power conversion systems, which would be a possible solution to reducing the weight and volume of renewable power generation systems. To verify this new concept, in this paper, a laboratory prototype of 1.73 kVA medium-frequency-link power conversion system is developed for a scaled down 1 kV grid applications. The design and implementation of the prototyping, test platform, and the experimental results are analyzed and discussed. It is expected that the proposed new technology would have great potential for future renewable and smart grid applications. © 2013 IEEE.

23. Investigation of sequential pattern mining techniques for web recommendation

Abstract: Increased application of sequence mining in web recommender systems (WRS) requires a better understanding of the performance and a clear identification of the strengths and weaknesses of existing algorithms. Among the commonly used sequence mining methods, the tree-based approach, such as pre-order linked WAP-tree mining algorithm (PLWAP-Mine) and conditional sequence mining algorithm (CS-Mine), has demonstrated high performance in web mining applications. However, its advantages over other mining methods are not well explained and understood in the context of WRS. This paper firstly reviews the existing sequence mining algorithms, and then studies the performance of two outstanding algorithms, i.e., the PLWAP-Mine and CS-Mine algorithms, with respect to their sensitivity to the dataset variability, and their practicality for web recommendation. The results show that CS-Mine performs faster than PLWAP-Mine, but the frequent patterns generated by PLWAP-Mine are more effective than CS-Mine when applied in web recommendations. These results are useful to WRS developers for the selection of appropriate sequence mining algorithms. © 2012 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

24. A case study on a hybrid wind speed forecasting method using BP neural network

Abstract: Wind energy, which is intermittent by nature, can have a significant impact on power grid security, power system operation, and market economics, especially in areas with a high level of wind power penetration. Wind speed forecasting has been a vital part of wind farm planning and the operational planning of power grids with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Improving the accuracy of wind speed forecasting algorithms has significant technological and economic impacts on these activities, and significant research efforts have addressed this aim recently. However, there is no single best forecasting algorithm that can be applied to any wind farm due to the fact that wind speed patterns can be very different between wind farms and are usually influenced by many factors that are location-specific and difficult to control. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid wind speed forecasting method based on a back-propagation (BP) neural network and the idea of eliminating seasonal effects from actual wind speed datasets using seasonal exponential adjustment. This method can forecast the daily average wind speed one year ahead with lower mean absolute errors compared to figures obtained without adjustment, as demonstrated by a case study conducted using a wind speed dataset collected from the Minqin area in China from 2001 to 2006. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. 25. Ontology-style web usage model for semantic Web applications

Abstract: Current semantic recommender systems aim to exploit the website ontologies to produce valuable web recommendations. However, Web usage knowledge for recommendation is presented separately and differently from the domain ontology, this leads to the complexity of using inconsistent knowledge resources. This paper aims to solve this problem by proposing a novel ontology-style model of Web usage to represent the non-taxonomic visiting relationship among the visited pages. The output of this model is an ontology-style document which enables the discovered web usage knowledge to be sharable and machine-understandable in semantic Web applications, such as recommender systems. A case study is presented to show how this model is used in conjunction of the web usage mining and web recommendation. Two real-world datasets are used in the case study. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the differential cross section for the gamman-->pi- p process from the CLAS detector at Jefferson Laboratory in Hall B for photon energies between 1.0 and 3.5 GeV and pion center-of-mass (c.m.) angles (thetac.m.) between 50 degrees and 115 degrees. We confirm a previous indication of a broad enhancement around a c.m. energy ([sqrt]s) of 2.1 GeV at thetac.m.=90 degrees in the scaled differential cross section s7dsigma/dt and a rapid falloff in a center-of-mass energy region of about 400 MeV following the enhancement. Our data show an angular dependence of this enhancement as the suggested scaling region is approached for thetac.m. from 70 degrees to 105 degrees.

28. A Precise Measurement of the Neutron Magnetic Form Factor Gn(M)in the Few-GeV2 Region

39. Detecting and disposing abnormal signal outliers with masking effect by using data accumulated generating operation

Abstract: In this paper, we study a signal processing problem which concentrates on outlier detection and data mining in order to rediscover some useful information. Moreover, the great difficulty of the subject is caused by both the external environment and the internal mechanism. In the external, owing to limit of impersonal condition, such as, realistic disturbance from noise signal can not avoid. In the internal, the masking effect appears in outlying observation so as to produce some unreasonable results by data analysis. Therefore, based not only on the requirement of external quality assurance schemes, but also on internal quality control where screening for outliers should probably be part of the procedure for our main goal. As a consequence, we have applied data accumulated generating operation and sample median test for solving the conundrum. © 2008 IEEE.

46. Measurement and modeling of thermal effects on magnetic hysteresis of soft ferrites

Abstract: We present experimental measurement of thermal effects on magnetic hysteresis of soft ferrite cores commonly used in high-frequency inductors and transformers and propose a method to model the thermal effects. We measured the major hysteresis loops of soft ferrite core samples from various vendors at different temperatures, and found that the saturation points of the limiting hysteresis loops vary with the temperature substantially in a nonlinear manner, but within the normal operating temperature range, typically 20degC-100degC, this variation can be approximately regarded as linear with an acceptable error. We propose a simple method based on this approximation for determining the limiting hysteresis loop of a soft ferrite for a given temperature. This method is validated by the substantial agreement between the experimental measurement and simulation by the scalar Preisach hysteresis model of major hysteresis loops of the test samples at different temperatures. Since most manufacturers provide the limiting loops of their soft ferrite cores at two typical temperatures, the proposed method is very convenient for engineering applications. © 2007 IEEE.

47. Effect of armature reaction of a permanent-magnet claw pole SMC motor

Abstract: The finite-element method enables an accurate analysis for the study on effects of armature reaction in electromagnetic devices, particularly those with complex structures and three-dimensional (3-D) magnetic flux paths. This paper investigates the effects of armature reaction on the parameters and performance of a permanent-magnet (PM) claw pole motor with soft magnetic composite (SMC) core, based on the magnetic field analysis using the 3-D nonlinear time-stepping finite-element method. The current in the stator winding produces a magnetic field, which interacts with the air gap field generated by the rotor magnets. Consequently, the air gap flux density profile against the rotor position produced by the rotor magnets deviates, and so does the back electromotive force. Since the stator field also changes the local saturation level of the magnetic core, the winding inductance varies with both the rotor position and stator currents. The inclusion of these effects in terms of parameter variations in the motor model is important for accurate performance analysis. On the other hand, the pattern of inductance against the rotor position and stator currents can be employed to effectively predict the rotor position at standstill and low speeds for robust sensorless control. The parameter computations are verified by experimental results on the PM claw pole SMC motor prototype. © 2007 IEEE.

48. Design and analysis of a prototype linear motor driving system for HTS maglev transportation

Abstract: High temperature superconductors (HTSs) can produce a strong magnetic levitation force with self-stabilizing feature and hence have attracted much attention for applications in maglev transportation systems. For the linear motion of transportation, a linear drive is an obvious advantage. This paper presents the design and analysis of a permanent magnet (PM) linear synchronous motor for driving a small-scale prototype vehicle with PM-HTS bulks used for the levitation. The linear motor consists of PMs on the vehicle sides and stator windings in the slots of side tracks. The three phase windings are supplied by a 3-phase inverter, and are controlled with a brushless DC control scheme. Analysis and calculation details of magnetic fields and driving force about the motor prototype are presented. © 2007 IEEE.

Abstract: Soft magnetic composite (SMC) materials are especially suitable for construction of electrical machines with complex structures and three-dimensional (3D) magnetic fluxes. In the design and optimization of such 3D flux machines, the 3D vector magnetic properties of magnetic materials should be properly determined, modeled, and applied for accurate calculation of the magnetic field distribution, parameters, and performance. This paper presents the measurement of 3D vector magnetic properties and determination of 3D reluctivity tensor of SMC. The reluctivity tensor is a key factor for accurate numerical analysis of magnetic field in a 3D flux SMC motor. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

50. Effects of armature reaction on the performance of a claw pole motor with soft magnetic composite stator by finite-element analysis

Abstract: We investigated the effects of armature reaction on the performance of a three-phase three-stack claw pole motor with soft magnetic composite stator core by using three-dimensional finite-element analysis (FEA), which is an effective approach to accurately compute the parameters and performance such as the back electromotive force (EMF), core losses, and winding inductance at various saturation levels. The motor is rated as 500 W at 1800 rpm when the stator current is 4.1 A, driven by a sensorless brushless DC scheme. Because of the armature reaction, the back EMF produced by the rotor permanent magnets and the developed torque is reduced by about 3.3% at the rated load, and the core losses increase drastically by 41% from no-load to full-load. The winding inductance is computed with different loads at different rotor angles. © 2007 IEEE.
