Abstract

Dynamic vision sensors (DVS) are frame-free sensors with an asynchronous variable-rate output that is ideal for hard real-time dynamic vision applications under power and latency constraints. Post-processing of the digital sensor output can reduce sensor noise, extract low level features, and track objects using simple algorithms that have previously been implemented in software. In this paper we present an FPGA-based framework for event-based processing that allows uncorrelated-event noise removal and real-time tracking of multiple objects, with dynamic capabilities to adapt itself to fast or slow and large or small objects. This framework uses a new hardware platform based on a Lattice FPGA which filters the sensor output and which then transmits the results through a super-speed Cypress FX3 USB microcontroller interface to a host computer. The packets of events and timestamps are transmitted to the host computer at rates of 10 Mega events per second. Experimental results are presented that demonstrate a low latency of 10us for tracking and computing the center of mass of a detected object.

16. Influence of some mononucleotides and their corresponding nucleosides on the metabolism of carbohydrates in the isolated rat diaphragm muscle

Abstract

1. The influence of ATP on glucose metabolism was studied in the isolated rat diaphragm; it was shown that ATP increases the oxidation of glucose and the aerobic conversion of glucose into lactate, whereas it decreases glycogen synthesis. There was no influence of ATP on the anaerobic formation of lactate from glucose. 2. A maximum effect of ATP on the oxidation of glucose (about 160% increase) was obtained in the presence of 10mm-ATP; in the presence of 2mm-ATP the effect was about 65%, and was approximately constant from 10 to 90min. incubation period. 3. In a phosphate-free tris-buffered medium the oxidation of glucose was considerably decreased, but the percentage stimulation by ATP was about the same as in a phosphate-buffered medium. 4. ATP was shown to increase the oxidation of fructose, glucose 6-phosphate, glucose 1-phosphate, fructose 1,6-diphosphate and, to a much smaller extent, pyruvate. 5. ADP stimulated the oxidation of glucose to the same extent as ATP at a concentration of 2mm and the effect with AMP was only slightly less; IMP and adenosine had only a small stimulatory effect at this concentration, whereas inosine had no effect.

18. Crystalline Field Effects in Intermetallic Compounds.

Abstract

Electron spin resonance of the rare-earth ions Ce(+3), Dy(+3), Er(+3) and Yb(+3) has been observed in various cubic intermetallic compounds. Experimental results indicate the ground states to be (a) gamma 7 for Yb(+3) in LaPd3 (Cu3Au structure) (b) gamma 8 for Er(+3) in LaSb, LuSb, LaBi and LuBi (NaCl structure) (c) gamma 7 for Ce(+3) in LaSb (d) gamma 6 for Dy(+3) in LaSb (e) gamma 6 for Yb(+3) in LaSb (f) gamma 6 for Er in LaB6 (CaB6 structure). These data represent the first observations of anisotropic resonance and hyperfine structure in intermetallic compounds as well as the first observation of EPR of Ce(+3) in any metal. The observations are consistent with crystalline field parameters deduced from measurements of concentrated spin systems with the same structure, by means of other experimental techniques. Analysis of the crystalline field parameters in terms of the point charge model, the virtual bound state model and possible f-like contributions is given. (Author)
