Abstract In this study, we successfully established a novel gallbladder cancer cell line, designated as GBC-X1, derived from a primary tumor of a gallbladder cancer patient. By comprehensively analyzing the cell line’s phenotype, molecular characteristics, biomarkers, and histological characteristics, we confirmed that GBC-X1 serves as a valuable model for investigating the pathogenesis of gallbladder cancer and developing therapeutic agents. GBC-X1 has been continuously cultured for one year, with over 60 stable passages. Morphologically, GBC-X1 exhibits typical features of epithelial tumors. The population doubling time of GBC-X1 is 32 h. STR analysis validated a high consistency between GBC-X1 and the patient’s primary tumor. Karyotype analysis revealed an abnormal hypertetraploid karyotype for GBC-X1, characterized by representative karyotypes of 98, XXXX del (4) p (12) del (5) p (21) der (10). Under suspension culture conditions, GBC-X1 efficiently forms tumor balls, while subcutaneous inoculation of GBC-X1 cells into NXG mice leads to xenograft formation with a rate of 80%. Drug sensitivity testing demonstrated that GBC-X1 is resistant to oxaliplatin and sensitive to 5-FU, gemcitabine, and paclitaxel. Immunohistochemistry revealed positive expression of CK7, CK19, E-cadherin, MMP-2, CD44, SOX2, and TP53 in GBC-X1 cells, weak positive expression of Vimentin, and a Ki67 positive rate of 35%. Our research highlights GBC-X1 as a novel gallbladder cancer cell line and emphasizes its potential as an effective experimental model for investigating the pathogenesis of gallbladder cancer and drug development.

Abstract. Background:. Although overnight fasting is recommended prior to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), the benefits and safety of high-carbohydrate fluid diet (CFD) intake 2 h before ERCP remain unclear. This study aimed to analyze whether high-CFD intake 2 h before ERCP can be safe and accelerate patients' recovery. Methods:. This prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial involved 15 tertiary ERCP centers. A total of 1330 patients were randomized into CFD group (n = 665) and fasting group (n = 665). The CFD group received 400 mL of maltodextrin orally 2 h before ERCP, while the control group abstained from food/water overnight (>6 h) before ERCP. All ERCP procedures were performed using deep sedation with intravenous propofol. The investigators were blinded but not the patients. The primary outcomes included postoperative fatigue and abdominal pain score, and the secondary outcomes included complications and changes in metabolic indicators. As an essential crop that provides vegetable oil and protein, soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is widely planted all over the world. However, the scarcity of water resources worldwide has seriously impacted on the quality and yield of soybean. To address this, exploring excellent genes for improving drought resistance in soybean is crucial. In this study, we identified natural variations of GmFNSII-2 (flavone synthase II) significantly affect the drought resistance of soybeans. Through sequence analysis of GmFNSII-2 in 632 cultivated and 44 wild soybeans nine haplotypes were identified. The full-length allele GmFNSII-2C, but not the truncated allele GmFNSII-2A possessing a nonsense nucleotide variation, increased enzyme activity. Further research found that GmDREB3, known to increase soybean drought resistance, bound to the promoter region of GmFNSII-2C. GmDREB3 positively regulated the expression of GmFNSII-2C, increased flavone synthase abundance and improved the drought resistance. Furthermore, a single-base mutation in the GmFNSII-2C promoter generated an additional drought response element (CCCCT), which had stronger interaction strength with GmDREB3 and increased its transcriptional activity under drought conditions. The frequency of drought-resistant soybean varieties with Hap 1 (Pro:GmFNSII-2C) has increased, suggesting that this haplotype may be selected during soybean breeding. In summary, GmFNSII-2C could be used for molecular breeding of drought-tolerant soybean.

Abstract Chemotherapy resistance poses clinical challenges in pancreatic cancer treatment. Developing cell lines resistant to chemotherapy is crucial for investigating drug resistance mechanisms and identifying alternative treatment pathways. The genetic and biological attributes of pancreatic cancer depend on its aetiology, racial demographics and anatomical origin, underscoring the need for models that comprehensively represent these characteristics. Here, we introduce PDAC-X2, a pancreatic cancer cell line derived from Chinese patients. We conducted a comprehensive analysis encompassing the immune phenotype, biology, genetics, molecular characteristics and tumorigenicity of the cell line. PDAC-X2 cells displayed epithelial morphology and expressed cell markers (CK7 and CK19) alongside other markers (E-cadherin, Vimentin, Ki-67, CEA and CA19-9). The population doubling time averaged around 69 h. In vivo, PDAC-X2 cells consistently maintained their tumorigenicity, achieving a 100% tumour formation rate. Characterised by a predominantly tetraploid karyotype, this cell line exhibited a complex genetic markup. Notably, PDAC-X2 cells demonstrated resistance to multiple drugs, including gemcitabine, paclitaxel, 5-fluorouracil and oxaliplatin. In conclusion, PDAC-X2 presents an invaluable preclinical model. Its utility lies in facilitating the study of drug resistance mechanisms and the exploration of alternative therapeutic approaches aimed at enhancing the prognosis of this tumour type.

Abstract In recent years, heat transfer enhancement of heat exchange equipment has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of sine wavy flying-wing fins are studied by numerical method. The objective is to improve the integrated heat transfer and pressure drop performance of sine wavy flying-wing fins. The degrees of freedom of fin sizes include fin pitch to fin height ratio f p/f h, fin height to fin wavelength ratio f h/W, fin amplitude to fin pitch ratio 2A/f p and fin inclined angle α. The results show that among the calculated 17 flying-wing fins, the optimal values of f p/f h, f h/W, 2A/f p, and α are 0.5, 0.4, 1.9 and 70° respectively. The optimized SWFWF simulation model is established, and the average JF factor is 1.307, which is about 10.9% higher than that of Fin 05 (JF = 1.18). Multiple linear regression is used to obtain the correlations of flow and heat transfer characteristics of flying-wing fins. The average deviation of the correlations for j and f are 0.85% and 4.9% respectively. The correlations can be used for the design and optimization of sine wavy flying-wing fins.

Abstract Purpose Health education services in urban public health represent a significant guarantee to improve health status, reduce fertility pressure, and uplift the living standard of the rural migrant population. Methods Based on the data from the 2018 China Mobility Monitoring Survey, this research paper analyzes the association between urban public health education services and the fertility intentions of the rural migrant populations. Results The study findings indicate that (i) the education services in urban public health demonstrate a significant positive effect on the increase in fertility intentions of the rural migrant population; (ii) further, improvement in the health status represents a crucial mechanism by which urban public health’s education services influence the fertility intentions; (iii) in addition, the education services of urban public health exert a significant impact on improvement in the fertility intentions through public health consultation, promotional materials, SMS services, and face-to-face consultation; (iv) finally, urban public health’s education services exhibit a significant influence on improvement in the fertility intentions of the rural migrant population with firm residence intention and low work intensity. Conclusions This study extends empirical evidence for the government authorities to formulate policies to consummate the urban public health service system, strengthen the efficiency of urban public health education services, and improve the fertility intentions and the living standards of the rural migrant populations.

Summary: Gene silencing by P-element-induced wimpy testis-interacting RNAs is a mechanism to maintain genome integrity in germ cells. Here, we present a protocol for knockin or knockout editing of male germline genome mediated by CRISPR-Cas9 technology in Caenorhabditis elegans. We describe steps for constructing edited plasmids, microinjecting worms with these plasmids, and screening edited worms. We then detail procedures for dissecting released sperm and their observation with fluorescence microscopy. Engineered worms provide a model for studying hermaphrodite/male fertility or protein localization in vivo.For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Wang et al. Abstract MicroRNAs play a critical regulatory role in different cancers, but their functions in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have not been elucidated. Reportedly, miR-142-3p is involved in the tumorigenesis and the development of RCC in vitro and is clinically correlated with the poor prognosis of RCC patients. However, the molecular target of miR-142-3p and the underlying mechanism are unclear. In this study, we found that miR-142-3p was upregulated in RCC tumor tissues and downregulated in exosomes compared to normal tissues. The expression of miR-142-3p was inversely associated with the survival of patients with kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC). RhoBTB3 was reduced in RCC, and miR-142-3p plays an inverse function with RhoBTB3 in KIRC. The direct interaction between RhoBTB3 and miR-142-3p was demonstrated by a dual luciferase reporter assay. miR-142-3p promoted metastasis in the xenograft model, and the suppression of miR-142-3p upregulated RhoBTB3 protein expression and inhibited the mRNAs and proteins of HIF1A, VEGFA, and GGT1. Also, the miR-142-3p overexpression upregulated the mRNA of HIF1A, VEGFA, and GGT1. In conclusion, miR-142-3p functions as an oncogene in RCC, especially in KIRC, by targeting RhoBTB3 to regulate HIF-1 signaling and GGT/GSH pathways, which needs further exploration.

Abstract Background The incidence of colorectal cancer among the middle-aged and elderly is gradually increasing in China. Colonoscopy is an effective method for the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer, and bowel preparation is one of many important factors affecting colonoscopy. Although there are many studies on intestinal cleansers, the results are not ideal. There is evidence that hemp seed oil has certain potential effects in intestinal cleansing, but prospective studies on this topic are still lacking. Methods This is a randomized, double-blind, single-center clinical study. We randomly assigned 690 participants to groups each administered 3 L of polyethylene glycol (PEG), 30 mL of hemp seed oil and 2 L of PEG, or 30 mL of hempseed oil, 2 L of PEG, and 1000 mL of 5% sugar brine. The Boston Bowel Preparation Scale was considered the primary outcome measure. We evaluated the interval between consumption of bowel preparation and first bowel movement. Secondary indicators included the time of cecal intubation, detection rate of polyps and adenomas, willingness to repeat the same bowel preparation, whether the protocol was tolerated, and whether there were adverse reactions during bowel preparation and were evaluated after counting the total number of bowel movements. Discussion This study aimed to test the hypothesis that hemp seed oil (30 mL) increases the quality of bowel preparation and reduces the amount of PEG. Previously, we found that its combination with 5% sugar brine can reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions. Trial registration Chinese Clinical Trial Registry ChiCTR2200057626. The toxic effects of micro(nano)plastics are long-standing, flourishing and fadeless as a research topic because of its' underlying threats to the ecology and human health. Nevertheless, in most of the existing studies, some model organisms are exposed to micro(nano)plastics at a high concentration unlikely to occur in the real environment, and there is limited data available on the impact of micro(nano)plastics at environmentally relevant concentrations (ERC) on environmental organisms. To gain a better insight into micro(nano)plastic toxicity to the environmental organisms, here we integrate the related publications of micro(nano)plastic research at ERC in the past 10 years using a bibliometric analysis, and focus on the analysis of publication trends, research focuses, collaborations, and research status. In addition, we further analyze the 33 final filtered literature, and elucidate the organismal response to micro(nano)plastics at ERC from the perspective of in vivo toxic effects and mechanisms involved. This paper also puts forward some limitations of the current study and some suggestions for future research. Our study may be of great significance in further understanding the ecotoxicity of micro(nano)plastics.

Background: Silicosis is a progressive and irreversible disease primarily caused by exposure to crystalline silica dust and, to a lesser extent, cigarette smoking. However, further research is needed to validate the potential combined effect of these risk factors on the increased incidence of the disease. Methods: A total of 1688 male workers employed at a Chinese stone processing plant between 1 January 1999 and 31 December 2019, were included in the study. Cumulative exposure to industrial crystalline silica dust and packyears of smoking were collected through health surveillance, and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for silicotic changes due to industrial silica exposure and cigarette smoking were estimated using logistic regression models. Results: Among all participants, a significant exposure–response relationship was observed between long-term exposure to industrial silica dust and radiographic findings resembling silicosis (OR 1.74, 95% CI 1.25 to 2.41). However, among middle-aged workers, a weak and statistically insignificant relationship was found between prolonged cigarette smoking and X-ray evidence of lung silicosis (OR 1.59, 95% CI 1.00 to 2.53). Furthermore, significant combined effects, exceeding the additive models, were identified in each age group and employment sector (relative risk due to interaction 0.51, 95% CI 0.08 to 3.42). Conclusions: It is critically important to implement effective dust removal measures and tobacco control strategies in order to enhance respiratory health among employees across all age groups in the stone processing industry.

At present, two big challenges have struck China’s economic development: economic containment “from the real to the virtual” and accomplishment in the goal of high-quality economic development. Taking China’s A-share public manufacturing enterprises from 2007 to 2020 as samples, this paper empirically analyzes the relationships among product market competition, non-financial enterprise financialization, and total factor productivity of enterprises. It is found that non-financial enterprise financialization significantly lowers down the total factor productivity of enterprises, that is, the total factor productivity of enterprises will drop by 1.7% as the non-financial enterprise financialization rises by 1 SD every time. After external regulation effects of product market competition are further taken into account, the furious product market competition, on the whole, mitigates the negative influences of non-financial enterprise financialization on total factor productivity of enterprises by strengthening the role of non-financial enterprise financialization as a “reservoir” and abating the “crowding-out” effect. Therefore, competition promotion policies combined with funds moving “from the virtual to the real” could more effectively elevate the enterprise productivity.

In legumes, many endogenous and environmental factors affect root nodule formation through several key genes, and the regulation details of the nodulation signaling pathway are yet to be fully understood. This study investigated the potential roles of terpenoids and terpene biosynthesis genes on root nodule formation in Glycine max. We characterized six terpenoid synthesis genes from Salvia officinalis by overexpressing SoTPS6, SoNEOD, SoLINS, SoSABS, SoGPS, and SoCINS in soybean hairy roots and evaluating root growth and nodulation, and the expression of strigolactone (SL) biosynthesis and early nodulation genes. Interestingly, overexpression of some of the terpenoid and terpene genes increased nodule numbers, nodule and root fresh weight, and root length, while others inhibited these phenotypes. These results suggest the potential effects of terpenoids and terpene synthesis genes on soybean root growth and nodulation. This study provides novel insights into epistatic interactions between terpenoids, root development, and nodulation in soybean root biology and open new avenues for soybean research.

Background Although Helicobacter pylori (Hp) as high risk factor for gastric cancer have been investigated from human trial, present data is inadequate to explain the effect of Hp on the changes of metabolic phenotype of gastric cancer in different stages. Purpose Herein, plasma of human superficial gastritis (Hp negative and positive), early gastric cancer and advanced gastric cancer analyzed by UPLC-HDMS metabolomics can not only reveal metabolic phenotype changes in patients with gastric cancer of different degrees (30 Hp negative, 30 Hp positive, 20 early gastric cancer patients, and 10 advanced gastric cancer patients), but also auxiliarily diagnose gastric cancer. Results Combined with multivariate statistical analysis, the results represented biomarkers different from Hp negative, Hp positive, and the alterations of metabolic phenotype of gastric cancer patients. Forty-three metabolites are involved in amino acid metabolism, and lipid and fatty acid metabolism pathways in the process of cancer occurrence, especially 2 biomarkers glycerophosphocholine and neopterin, were screened in this study. Neopterin was consistently increased with gastric cancer progression and glycerophosphocholine tended to consistently decrease from Hp negative to advanced gastric cancer. Conclusion This method could be used for the development of rapid targeted methods for biomarker identification and a potential diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Root nodule formation in many leguminous plants is known to be affected by endogen ous and exogenous factors that affect formation, development, and longevity of nodules in roots. Therefore, it is important to understand the role of the genes which are involved in the regulation of the nodulation signaling pathway. This study aimed to investigate the effect of terpenoids and terpene biosynthesis genes on root nodule formation in Glycine max. The study aimed to clarify not only the impact of over-expressing five terpene synthesis genes isolated from G. max and Salvia guaranitica on soybean nodulation signaling pathway, but also on the strigolactones pathway. The obtained results revealed that the over expression of GmFDPS, GmGGPPS, SgGPS, SgFPPS, and SgLINS genes enhanced the root nodule numbers, fresh weight of nodules, root, and root length. Moreover, the terpene content in the transgenic G. max hairy roots was estimated. The results explored that the monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and diterpenes were significantly increased in transgenic soybean hairy roots in comparison with the control. Our results indicate the potential effects of terpenoids and terpene synthesis genes on soybean root growth and nodulation. The study provides novel insights for understanding the epistatic relationship between terpenoids, root development, and nodulation in soybean.

Sperm activation is a fascinating example of cell differentiation, in which immotile spermatids undergo a rapid and dramatic transition to become mature, motile sperm. Because the sperm nucleus is transcriptionally silent, this transition does not involve transcriptional changes. Although Caenorhabditis elegans is a leading model for studies of sperm activation, the mechanisms by which signaling pathways induce this transformation remain poorly characterized. Here we show that a conserved transmembrane zinc transporter, ZIPT-7.1, regulates the induction of sperm activation in Caenorhabditis nematodes. The zipt-7.1 mutant hermaphrodites cannot self-fertilize, and males reproduce poorly, because mutant spermatids are defective in responding to activating signals. The zipt-7.1 gene is expressed in the germ line and functions in germ cells to promote sperm activation. When expressed in mammalian cells, ZIPT-7.1 mediates zinc transport with high specificity and is predominantly located on internal membranes. Finally, genetic epistasis places zipt-7.1 at the end of the spe-8 sperm activation pathway, and ZIPT-7.1 binds SPE-4, a presenilin that regulates sperm activation. Based on these results, we propose a new model for sperm activation. In spermatids, inactive ZIPT-7.1 is localized to the membranous organelles, which contain higher levels of zinc than the cytoplasm. When sperm activation is triggered, ZIPT-7.1 activity increases, releasing zinc from internal stores. The resulting increase in cytoplasmic zinc promotes the phenotypic changes characteristic of activation. Thus, zinc signaling is a key step in the signal transduction process that mediates sperm activation, and we have identified a zinc transporter that is central to this activation process.

S100A11 is a S100 protein family member that contributes to cancer progression. Upregulated in human renal cancer tissues, S100A11 may be a prognostic marker for clear cell renal cell carcinoma, but how it functions in cancer is uncertain. Thus, we studied S100A11 and noted knockdown of S100A11 using short hairpin RNA, which inhibited proliferation, invasion, and migration of renal carcinoma cells as well as increased expression of E-cadherin and decreased expression of epidermal growth factor receptor/Akt in renal carcinoma cells. Therefore, S100A11 may be a key molecular target for treating renal carcinoma.

Soybean is one of the most important oil crops in the world. Revealing the molecular basis and exploring key candidate genes for seed oil synthesis has great significance for soybean improvement. In this study, we found that oil accumulation rates and gene expression levels changed dynamically during soybean seed development. The expression levels of genes in metabolic pathways such as carbon fixation, photosynthesis, glycolysis, and fatty acid biosynthesis were significantly up-regulated during the rapid accumulation of oil in developing soybean seeds. Through weighted correlation network analysis, we identified six co-expression modules associated with soybean seed oil content and the pink module was the most positively correlated (r = 0.83, p = 7 × 10−4) network. Through the integration of differential expression and co-expression analysis, we predicted 124 candidate genes potentially affecting soybean seed oil content, including seven genes in lipid metabolism pathway, two genes involved in glycolysis, one gene in sucrose metabolism, and 12 genes belonged to transcription factors as well as other categories. Among these, three genes (GmABI3b, GmNFYA and GmFAD2-1B) have been shown to control oil and fatty acid content in soybean seeds, and other newly identified candidate genes would broaden our knowledge to understand the molecular basis for oil accumulation in soybean seeds.

The Gene Ontology (GO) knowledgebase (http://geneontology.org) is a comprehensive resource concerning the functions of genes and gene products (proteins and noncoding RNAs). GO annotations cover genes from organisms across the tree of life as well as viruses, though most gene function knowledge currently derives from experiments carried out in a relatively small number of model organisms. Here, we provide an updated overview of the GO knowledgebase, as well as the efforts of the broad, international consortium of scientists that develops, maintains, and updates the GO knowledgebase. The GO knowledgebase consists of three components: (1) the GO-a computational knowledge structure describing the functional characteristics of genes; (2) GO annotations-evidence-supported statements asserting that a specific gene product has a particular functional characteristic; and (3) GO Causal Activity Models (GO-CAMs)-mechanistic models of molecular "pathways" (GO biological processes) created by linking multiple GO annotations using defined relations. Each of these components is continually expanded, revised, and updated in response to newly published discoveries and receives extensive QA checks, reviews, and user feedback. For each of these components, we provide a description of the current contents, recent developments to keep the knowledgebase up to date with new discoveries, and guidance on how users can best make use of the data that we provide. We conclude with future directions for the project.

Clathrin and the multi-subunit adaptor protein complex AP2 are central players in clathrin-mediated endocytosis by which the cell selectively internalizes surface materials. Here, we report the essential role of clathrin and AP2 in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. In Caenorhabditis elegans, depletion of the clathrin heavy chain CHC-1 and individual components of AP2 led to a significant accumulation of germ cell corpses, which resulted from defects in both cell corpse engulfment and phagosome maturation required for corpse removal. CHC-1 and AP2 components associate with phagosomes in an inter-dependent manner. Importantly, we found that the phagocytic receptor CED-1 interacts with the α subunit of AP2, while the CED-6/Gulp adaptor forms a complex with both CHC-1 and the AP2 complex, which likely mediates the rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton required for cell corpse engulfment triggered by the CED-1 signaling pathway. In addition, CHC-1 and AP2 promote the phagosomal association of LST-4/Snx9/18/33 and DYN-1/dynamin by forming a complex with them, thereby facilitating the maturation of phagosomes necessary for corpse degradation. These findings reveal a non-classical role of clathrin and AP2 and establish them as indispensable regulators in phagocytic receptor-mediated apoptotic cell clearance.

RBBP6 (retinoblastoma binding protein 6, also known as PACT or P2P-R in humans) is a multi-domain protein that functions in multiple processes, such as mitosis, cell differentiation, and cell apoptosis. RBBP6 is evolutionarily conserved and is present in unicellular organisms to mammals. Studies of RBBP6 have mostly focused on its RB- and p53-binding domains, which are found exclusively in mammals. Here, we investigated the C. elegans homolog of RBBP6 to explore the functional roles of its other domains. We found that RBPL-1, the homolog of RBBP6 in C. elegans, is indispensable for worm development. RNAi silencing of rbpl-1 led to embryonic lethality, as well as defects in oocyte production and intestine development. rbpl-1 RNAi worms showed defects in germ cell proliferation, suggesting that RBPL-1 regulates mitosis. Moreover, RNAi silencing of rbpl-1 inhibited nutrient synthesis in the worm intestine. RBPL-1, as a nucleolus protein, was found to be expressed in diverse tissues and necessary for both germline and soma development. Using microarray analysis, we identified ≈700 genes whose expression levels were changed at least 10-fold in rbpl-1 worms. We propose that RBPL-1, like its yeast homolog, may regulate gene expression as an mRNA cleavage and polyadenylation factor. Taken together, the findings from this study reveal that RBPL-1 plays a pivotal role in C. elegans germline and soma development, suggesting that the functions of RBBP6 are conserved in diverse eukaryotic species.

In the title complex, [Zn(C14H9N5)2](ClO4)2, 2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-1,10-phenanthroline functions as a tridentate ligand and the ZnII ion assumes a distorted octahedral ZnN6 coordination geometry. There is a weak π–π stacking interaction between symmetry-related triazolyl rings with a centroid–centroid distance of 3.802 (4) Å and a perpendicular distance of 3.413 Å between the rings.

In the title complex, [CdCl2(C16H17N3O2)], the metal atom exhibits a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. O—H...O and O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds involving hydroxy groups and one of coordinated Cl atoms link complexes in the crystal packing. There is a π–π stacking interaction between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline rings, with a distance of 3.675 (2) Å between the centroids of the pyridine and benzene rings.

In the title molecule, C24H18N4O2, the dihedral angles between the mean plane of the phenanthroline ring system and the pyridine rings are 82.52 (5) and 71.58 (4)°. The dihedral angle between the two pyridine ring planes is 53.54 (6)°. In the crystal structure, there are π–π stacking interactions between 1,10-phenanthroline rings, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.6101 (11) and 3.5864 (11) Å.

In the title two-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cd(NCS)2(C6H5N5)2]n, the CdII ion (site symmetry overline1) is coordinated by two N atoms from two 2-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)pyrazine ligands and two N and two S atoms from four thiocyanate anions. The N—Cd bond lengths range from 2.323 (2) to 2.3655 (19) Å and the S—Cd bond length is 2.7117 (7) Å. The associated cisoid angles vary from 84.99 (7) to 95.01 (7)°, indicating that the CdII ion assumes a distorted octahedral geometry. In the complex, each thiocyanate anion functions as a bridging ligand, linking adjacent CdII ions with a separation of 6.4919 (6) Å, resulting in the formation of a two-dimensional sheet structure in the bc plane.

The title compound, [Cd(NCS)2(C6H5N5)2]n, is a coordination polymer with the CdII centre located on a twofold rotation axis. The CdII centre assumes a distorted octahedral geometry. The thiocyanate anions function as bridging ligands between the CdII centres, leading to a chain-like arrangement expanding along [001].

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuCl(C12H12N2O)][CuCl(C12H12N2O)(H2O)](ClO4)2, contains two different discrete cations. In one cation, the CuII ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry, while in the other the CuII ion is in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal environment. In the crystal structure, there are O—H...O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water molecules and perchlorate anions. Both types of cations are linked into one-dimensional chains along the b axis by weak electrostatic Cu...Cl interactions, with Cu...Cl distances of 2.8088 (16) and 3.2074 (17) Å.

Abstract Background In recent years, investigations of Toxoplasma gondii infection in poultry (chickens, ducks, and geese) have been reported worldwide, including China. However, little is known about the prevalence of T. gondii infection in poultry in northeastern China. Therefore, the present study was performed to determine the prevalence of T. gondii infection in slaughtered chickens, ducks, and geese in Shenyang, northeastern China. Methods In the present study, the seroprevalence of T. gondii in 502 adult chickens, 268 adult ducks, and 128 adult geese was surveyed using the modified agglutination test (MAT). Results The seroprevalences of T. gondii were 5.8%, 7.8%, and 4.7% in chickens, ducks, and geese, respectively. Prevalence was higher in free-range groups (11.2%, 12.3%, and 8.9%) than caged groups (4.7%, 7.5%, and 6.0%), and there was a statistically significant difference only between free-range chickens and caged chickens, but no significant difference was found between free-range ducks, geese and caged ducks, geese. Conclusions The present study shows the prescence of T. gondii infection in slaughtered chickens, ducks, and geese in Shenyang, northeastern China, which suggests that consumption of poultry meat in Shenyang may pose a potential threat to human health and should be given attention.

As the core of the phase change energy storage technology, the heat transfer performance of the phase change energy storage unit has an important impact on the operating efficiency of the energy storage system. In this study, a 3-D CFD model of the plate-type phase change energy storage unit is established to simulate the melting process of paraffin wax. Three types of plate-type phase change energy storage unit models are established, without ribs, single rib, and double ribs. The influence of cylindrical rib on natural convection melting process of paraffin is studied, which provides the basis for the design and performance optimization of plate-type phase change energy storage unit, and improve its application value. The results show that the melting time of paraffin in the energy storage unit without ribs is 858 seconds, and the melting time is shortened to 827~842 seconds after adding single rib. The melting time of paraffin wax with single rib is lower than that with double ribs. For the plate-type phase change energy storage unit, adding ribs at the central section can effectively improve the melting rate of phase change material. The single rib A located at the lower part of the central section has the greatest promotion effect on paraffin melting. The key to enhance the phase change heat transfer process in plate-type phase change energy storage unit is the paraffin in the lower half of the symmetry plane. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
