2. Enhanced sensing mechanism based on shifting an exceptional point

Abstract

Non-Hermitian systems associated with exceptional points (EPs) are expected to demonstrate a giant response enhancement for various sensors. The widely investigated enhancement mechanism based on diverging from an EP should destroy the EP and further limits its applications for multiple sensing scenarios in a time sequence. To break the above limit, here we proposed a new enhanced sensing mechanism based on shifting an EP. Different from the mechanism of diverging from an EP, our scheme is an EP non-demolition and the giant enhancement of response is acquired by a slight shift of the EP along the parameter axis induced by perturbation. The new sensing mechanism can promise the most ffective response enhancement for all sensors in the case of multiple sensing in a time sequence. To verify our sensing mechanism, we construct a mass sensor and a gyroscope with concrete physical implementations. Our work will deepen the understanding of EP-based sensing and inspire designing various high sensitivity sensors in different physical systems., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

8. Proximity-encirclement of exceptional points in a multimode optomechanical system

Abstract

Dynamic encircling a second-order exception point (EP) exhibit chiral state transfer, while there is few research on dynamic encircling multiple and higher-order EPs. Here, we study proximity-encirclement of the EPs in a multimode optomechanical system to understand the closed path evolution of high-order non-Hermitian systems. The optomechanical system has three types of situations about EPs: the system has no EP, a pair of second-order EPs, and a third-order EP. The dynamical behavior of the system's dependence on the initial state, orientation, and velocity of the loop, the variance in the starting point of the loop, as well as the number and order of EPs encircled by the loop have been investigated in the process of state transfer. The results show that chiral or non-reciprocal state transfer can be realized when the loop encircling a second-order EP with different radius. Only chiral state transfer occurs when encircling two second-order EPs. Moreover, chiral and non-reciprocal state transfer can happen in a single loop encircling a third-order EP. 9. Entanglement Dynamics of Two V-type Atoms with Dipole-Dipole Interaction in Dissipative Cavity

Abstract

In this work, we study a coupled system of two V-type atoms with dipole-dipole interaction in a dissipative single-mode cavity, which couples with an external environment. We obtain the analytical solution of this model by solving the time dependent Schrodinger equation after we diagonalize Hamiltonian of dissipative cavity by introducing a set of new creation and annihilation operators according to Fano theorem. We also detailedly discuss the influences of cavity-environment coupling, spontaneously generated interference (SGI) parameter and dipole-dipole interaction between two atoms on entanglement dynamics under different initial states. The results show that the SGI parameter has different effects on entanglement dynamics under different initial states. Namely, the SGI parameter will increase the decay rate of the initially maximal entangled state and reduce that of the initially partial entangled state. For the initially product state, the larger SGI parameter corresponds to the more entanglement generated. The entanglement monotonically decreases under the weak cavity-environment coupling, while the oscillation of entanglement will occur under the strong cavity-environment coupling. The larger the dipole-dipole interaction is, the slower the entanglement decays and the more the entanglement will be generated. So the dipole-dipole interaction can not only protect and generate entanglement very effectively, but also enhance the regulation effect of the SGI parameter on entanglement., Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures

11. Dynamical encircling exceptional point in largely detuned multimode optomechanical system

Abstract

Dynamical encircling exceptional point(EP) shows a number of intriguing physical phenomena and its potential applications. To enrich the manipulations of optical systems in experiment, here, we study the dynamical encircling EP, i.e. state transfer process, in largely detuned multimode optomechanical system. The process of state transfer has been investigated with different factors about the location of start point, the orientation and the initial state of the trajectories around the EP in parameter space. Results show that the nonreciprocal and the chiral topological energy transfer between two optical modes are performed successfully by tuning the effective optomechanical coupling in the multimode system with large detuning. Moreover, the factor of evolution speed about system parameters is also discussed. Our work demonstrates the fundamental physics around EP in large detuning domain of multimode optomechanical system and provides an alternative for manipulating of optical modes in non-hermitian system., Comment: 9 pages,7 figures

Abstract

The highly efficient coupling of light from conventional optical components to optical mode volumes lies in the heart of chip-based micro-devices, which is determined by the phase-matching between propagation constants of fiber taper and the whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) of the resonator. Optical gyroscopes, typically realized as fiber-optic gyroscopes and ring-laser gyroscopes, have been the mainstay in diverse applications such as positioning and inertial sensing. Here, the phase-matching is theoretically analyzed and experimentally verified. We observe Sagnac effect in a millimeter-scale wedged resonator gyroscope which has attracted considerable attention and been rapidly promoted in recent years. We demonstrate a bidirectional pump and probe scheme, which directly measures the frequency beat caused by the Sagnac effect. We establish the linear response between the detected beat frequency and the rotation velocity. The clockwise and counterclockwise rotation can also be distinguished according to the value of the frequency beat. The experimental results verify the feasibility of developing gyroscope in WGM resonator system and pave the way for future development., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

13. Modulating quantum evolution of moving-qubit by using classical driving

Abstract

In this work, we study quantum evolution of an open moving-qubit modulated by a classical driving field. We obtain the density operator of qubit at zero temperature and analyze its quantum evolution dynamics by using quantum speed limit time (QSLT) and a non-Markovianity measure introduced recently. The results show that both the non-Markovian environment and the classical driving can speed up the evolution process, this quantum speedup process is induced by the non-Markovianity and the critical points only depend on the qubit velocity. Moreover, the qubit motion will delay the evolution process, but this negative effect of the qubit velocity on the quantum speedup can be suppressed by the classical driving. Finally, we give the corresponding physical explanation by using the decoherence rates., Comment: 10 pages, 12figures

Abstract

In this work, the entanglement dynamics of a moving-biparticle system driven by an external classical field are investigated, where the moving-biparticle system is coupled with a zero temperature common environment. The analytical expressions of the density operator and the entanglement can be obtained by using the dressed-state basis when the total excitation number is one. We also discuss in detail the effects of different parameters on the entanglement dynamics. 16. Evidence and acupoint combinations in acupuncture for functional dyspepsia: an overview of systematic review and data mining study

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the methodological quality of papers that performed meta-analyzed and systematically reviewed acupoint selections for the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) and to identify the ideal acupoint combinations for FD. Methods: Chinese databases including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), China Biology Medicine (CBM), and Wanfang Database, as well as English databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to retrieve papers about meta-analysis and systematic literature reviews on acupuncture for FD. The time span for the paper retrieval was set from the foundation of the databases to April 30, 2022. The Veritas scores of the papers based on their publication year, study type, Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR2), Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), heterogeneity, and publication bias were rated to assess the methodological quality of the included studies. Then, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were extracted from those meta-analysis papers or systematic literature reviews for analyzing acupoints frequency, meridian frequency, and association rules with the use of R software (V 4.3.1). Results: Eight meta-analysis papers were included in the study after screening. The mean Veritas scores of the papers based on publication year, type of study, AMSTAR2, PRISMA, heterogeneity, and publication bias were 4.50, 8.00, 4.63, 4.63, 4.50, and 6.13, respectively. The analysis of the scores revealed insufficiencies in the reviews pertaining to the methodology, comprehension of the research strategy, detailed list of excluded studies, sources of funding, assessment of potential bias risks impact on meta-analysis results in each study, explanation of heterogeneity, and identification of potential conflicts of interest. Furthermore, a total of 85 RCTs were obtained from the eight meta-analysis papers involving 85 acupuncture prescriptions and 67 acupoints for subsequent data mining. The most commonly used meridian was Stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming (ST). Zusanli (ST36), Neiguan (PC6), Zhongwan (CV12), Taichong (LR3), Tianshu (ST25), Gongsun (SP4), Weishu (BL21), Pishu (BL20), Neiting (ST44), and Yinlingquan (SP9) topped the list of frequently selected acupoints. Additionally, a total of 28 association rules were identified, including 10 second-order, 15 third-order, and 3 fourth-order association rules. The top-ranking association rules in each order were “Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)” “Zhongwan (CV12) + Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)” and “Zhongwan (CV12) + Taichong (LR3) + Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)”, respectively. Conclusion: Acupuncture could alleviate the clinical symptoms of FD. However, the quality of methodology applied in the meta-analysis papers on the subject needs to be improved. Through data mining, a combination of Neiguan (PC6), Zusanli (ST36), Zhongwan (CV12), and Taichong (LR3) was identified as an essential acupoint combination for the treatment of FD.

Abstract

This paper documents the seventeenth data release (DR17) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys; the fifth and final release from the fourth phase (SDSS-IV). DR17 contains the complete release of the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey, which reached its goal of surveying over 10,000 nearby galaxies. The complete release of the MaNGA Stellar Library (MaStar) accompanies this data, providing observations of almost 30,000 stars through the MaNGA instrument during bright time. DR17 also contains the complete release of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2) survey which publicly releases infra-red spectra of over 650,000 stars. The main sample from the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), as well as the sub-survey Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) data were fully released in DR16. New single-fiber optical spectroscopy released in DR17 is from the SPectroscipic IDentification of ERosita Survey (SPIDERS) sub-survey and the eBOSS-RM program. Along with the primary data sets, DR17 includes 25 new or updated Value Added Catalogs (VACs). This paper concludes the release of SDSS-IV survey data. SDSS continues into its fifth phase with observations already underway for the Milky Way Mapper (MWM), Local Volume Mapper (LVM) and Black Hole Mapper (BHM) surveys., Comment: 40 pages, 8 figures, 6 tables. 31. Ohmic Reservoir-based non-Markovianity and Quantum Speed Limit Time

Abstract

We study the non-Markovianity and quantum speedup of a two-level atom (quantum system of interest) in a dissipative Jaynes-Cumming model, where the atom is embedded in a single-mode cavity, which is leaky being coupled to an external reservoir with Ohmic spectral density. We obtain the non-Markovianity characterized by using the probability of the atomic excited state and the negative decoherence rate in the time-local master equation. We also calculate the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of the evolution process of the atom. The results show that, the atom-cavity coupling is the main physical reasons of the transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and the transition from no speedup to speedup process, and the critical value of this sudden transition only depends on the Ohmicity parameter. The atom-cavity coupling and the appropriate reservoir parameters can effectively improve the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process and speed up the evolution of the atom. Moreover, the initial non-Markovian dynamics first turns into Markovian and then back to non-Markovian with increasing the atom-cavity coupling under certain condition. Abstract

This paper documents the sixteenth data release (DR16) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys; the fourth and penultimate from the fourth phase (SDSS-IV). This is the first release of data from the southern hemisphere survey of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2); new data from APOGEE-2 North are also included. DR16 is also notable as the final data release for the main cosmological program of the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), and all raw and reduced spectra from that project are released here. DR16 also includes all the data from the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) and new data from the SPectroscopic IDentification of ERosita Survey (SPIDERS) programs, both of which were co-observed on eBOSS plates. DR16 has no new data from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey (or the MaNGA Stellar Library "MaStar"). Abstract

Twenty years have passed since first light for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Here, we release data taken by the fourth phase of SDSS (SDSS-IV) across its first three years of operation (July 2014-July 2017). This is the third data release for SDSS-IV, and the fifteenth from SDSS (Data Release Fifteen; DR15). New data come from MaNGA - we release 4824 datacubes, as well as the first stellar spectra in the MaNGA Stellar Library (MaStar), the first set of survey-supported analysis products (e.g. stellar and gas kinematics, emission line, and other maps) from the MaNGA Data Analysis Pipeline (DAP), and a new data visualisation and access tool we call "Marvin". The next data release, DR16, will include new data from both APOGEE-2 and eBOSS; those surveys release no new data here, but we document updates and corrections to their data processing pipelines. The release is cumulative; it also includes the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since first light. In this paper we describe the location and format of the data and tools and cite technical references describing how it was obtained and processed. The SDSS website (www.sdss.org) has also been updated, providing links to data downloads, tutorials and examples of data use. While SDSS-IV will continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be followed by SDSS-V (2020-2025), we end this paper by describing plans to ensure the sustainability of the SDSS data archive for many years beyond the collection of data., Comment: Paper to accompany DR15. 25 pages, 6 figures. Abstract

Background: Myocardial infarction is associated with the autophagy and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, and the protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin (AKT/mTOR) pathway plays a crucial role in this mechanism. Methods: Acute myocardial infarction rat models were assessed 0.5, 2, 4, and 6 hours after the induction of the myocardial infarction using hematoxylin and eosin staining, triphenyl tetrazolium chloride staining, myocardial enzyme measurements, and levels of autophagic activity. Additionally, diazoxide, 5-hydroxydecanoate, and LY294002 were intraperitoneally administered to rat models at peak myocardial injury to assess their effects on cardiac injury. The expression levels of autophagy-related and apoptosis-related proteins, as well as p-AKT and p-mTOR, were measured. Electron microscopy was used to assess the ultrastructure and the number of autophagosomes in the cardiac tissue. Results: We demonstrated that the degree of myocardial injury and the level of autophagy were significantly elevated in the experimental cohort compared with the control cohort. In addition, the myocardial infarct size was significantly smaller in diazoxide-treated acute myocardial infarction rats compared with untreated rats. Diazoxide also decreased the levels of myocardial injury markers, autophagy, and apoptosis, while it also induced the levels of AKT and mTOR phosphorylation, decreased the number of autophagosomes, and improved the myocardial ultrastructure of the acute myocardial infarction rats. 5-Hydroxydecanoate treatment resulted in an opposite effect to those observed upon diazoxide treatment. LY294002 was also able to reverse diazoxide treatment effects. Conclusion: Peak levels of myocardial tissue injury and autophagy were observed 2 hours post-acute myocardial infarction induction in rats. Diazoxide treatment inhibited myocardial autophagy and apoptosis while protecting cardiac tissue from ischemic injury, which is likely to have proceeded through activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway.

Abstract

Sparse representation classification achieves good results by addressing recognition problem with sufficient training samples per subject. However, SRC performs not very well for small sample data. In this paper, an inverse-projection group sparse representation model is presented for breast tumor classification, which is based on constructing low-rank variation dictionary. The proposed low-rank variation dictionary tackles tumor recognition problem from the viewpoint of detecting and using variations in gene expression profiles of normal and patients, rather than directly using these samples. The inverse projection group sparsity representation model is constructed based on taking full using of exist samples and group effect of microarray gene data. Extensive experiments on public breast tumor microarray gene expression datasets demonstrate the proposed technique is competitive with state-of-the-art methods. Abstract

Microarray gene expression data-based tumor classification is an active and challenging issue. In this paper, an integrated tumor classification framework is presented, which aims to exploit information in existing available samples, and focuses on the small sample problem and unbalanced classification problem. Firstly, an inverse space sparse representation based classification (ISSRC) model is proposed by considering the characteristics of gene-based tumor data, such as sparsity and a small number of training samples. A decision information factors (DIF)-based gene selection method is constructed to enhance the representation ability of the ISSRC. It is worth noting that the DIF is established from reducing clinical misdiagnosis rate and dimension of small sample data. For further improving the representation ability and classification stability of the ISSRC, feature learning is conducted on the selected gene subset. The feature learning method is constructed by complementing the advantages of non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) and deep learning. Without confusion, the ISSRC combined with gene selection and feature learning is called the integrated ISSRC, whose stability, optimization and the corresponding convergence are analyzed. Extensive experiments on six public microarray gene expression datasets show the integrated ISSRC-based tumor classification framework is superior to classical and state-of-the-art methods. Abstract

The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14 is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14 is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2), including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be followed by SDSS-V., Comment: SDSS-IV collaboration alphabetical author data release paper.
