Romulo F. Magsino is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. He specializes in educational policy studies, has authored and edited several books and monographs, and has been published in Canadian and American books and journals. Among his most recent publications is Teachers in Trouble: An Exploration of the Normative Character of Teaching, of which he is co-author. He is past president of the Canadian Philosophy of Education Society. John Long is Professor in the Department of Educational Administration, Foundations, and Psychology at the University of Manitoba. His area of special interest and publication is educational law, policy, and politics. His contribution in this volume extends an area of scholarship which he and Romulo Magsino first published in the Education and Law Journal (1993) and in the book Teaching, Schools, and Society (1990), ed. Orteza y Miranda and Romulo Magsino. It also reflects the results of recent funded research, 'Canadian Pluralism, the Charter and Citizenship Education,' with his colleagues Raymond Theberge and Romulo Magsino. Raymond G. Theberge holds a doctorate in Linguistics from McGill University. He is currently Dean of Education at College universitaire de Saint-Boniface and Director of a research centre which specializes in minority language issues.
