Context. Carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen are the most abundant elements throughout the universe, after hydrogen and helium. Studying these elements in low-metallicity stars can provide crucial information on the chemical composition in the early Galaxy and possible internal mixing processes that can alter the surface composition of the stars. Aims. This work aims to investigate the chemical abundance patterns for CNO elements and Li in a homogeneously analyzed sample of 52 metal-poor halo giant stars. Methods. We used high-resolution spectra with a high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) to carry out a spectral synthesis to derive detailed C, N, O, and Li abundances for a sample of stars with metallicities in the range of -3.58 <= [Fe/H] <= -1.79 dex. Our study was based on the assumption of one-dimensional (1D) local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) atmospheres. Results. Based on carbon and nitrogen abundances, we investigated the deep mixing taking place within stars along the red giant branch (RGB). The individual abundances of carbon decrease towards the upper RGB while nitrogen shows an increasing trend, indicating that carbon has been converted into nitrogen. No signatures of ON-cycle processed material were found for the stars in our sample. We computed a set of galactic chemical evolution (GCE) models, implementing different sets of massive star yields, both with and without including the effects of stellar rotation on nucleosynthesis. We confirm that stellar rotation is necessary to explain the highest [N/Fe] and [N/O] ratios observed in unmixed halo stars. The predicted level of N enhancement varies sensibly in dependence of the specific set of yields that are adopted. For stars with stellar parameters similar to those of our sample, heavy elements such as Sr, Y, and Zr appear to have unchanged abundances despite the stellar evolution mixing processes., Comment: 19 pages, 17 figures. Context. Transient sky astronomy is entering a new era with the advent of the SVOM mission (Space Variable Objects Monitor), which was successfully launched on the 26th of June, 2024. The primary goal of SVOM is to monitor the hard X-ray sky searching for gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). On top of its on-board follow-up capabilities, SVOM will be backed by its ground segment composed of several facilities, of which the near-infrared imager CAGIRE. Mounted on the robotic telescope COLIBRI, it will be a unique instrument, able to perform fast follow-up of GRB afterglows in J and H bands, an ideal combination to catch high-redshift (z>6) and/or obscured GRBs. Aims. This paper aims at estimating the performances of CAGIRE for GRB near-infrared afterglow detection based on the characteristics of the detector and the specificities of the COLIBRI telescope. Quickly fading GRB afterglows pose challenges that should be addressed by adapting observing strategies to the capabilities of CAGIRE. Methods. We use an end-to-end image simulator to produce realistic CAGIRE images, taking into account results from the characterization of the ALFA detector used by CAGIRE. We implemented a GRB afterglow generator that simulates infrared lightcurves and spectra based on published observation of distant GRBs (z>6). Results. We retrieved the photometry of 9 GRB afterglows in various scenarios covered by CAGIRE. Catching afterglows as early as two minutes after burst allows the identification of a nIR counterpart in the brightest 4 events. When artificially redshifted even further away, these events remain detectable by CAGIRE up to z=9.6 in J band, and z=13.3 in H band, indicating the potential of CAGIRE to be a pioneer in the identification of the most distant GRBs to date., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables, accepted for publication in A&A

Dwarf galaxy streams encode vast amounts of information essential to understanding early galaxy formation and nucleosynthesis channels. Due to the variation in the timescales of star formation history in their progenitors, stellar streams serve as `snapshots' that record different stages of galactic chemical evolution. This study focusses on the Cetus stream, stripped from a low-mass dwarf galaxy. We carried out a comprehensive analysis of the chemical composition of 22 member stars based on their high-resolution spectra. We derived abundances for up to 28 chemical species from C to Dy and, for 20 of them, we account for the departures from local thermodynamic equilibrium. We confirm that the Cetus stream has a mean metallicity of [Fe/H] = $-2.11$ $\pm$ 0.21. All observed Cetus stars are $\alpha$ enhanced with [$\alpha$/Fe] $\simeq$ 0.3. The absence of the $\alpha$-`knee' implies that star formation stopped before iron production in type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) became substantial. Neutron capture element abundances suggest that both the rapid (r-) and the main slow (s-) processes contributed to their origin. The decrease in [Eu/Ba] from a typical r-process value of [Eu/Ba] = 0.7 to 0.3 with increasing [Ba/H] indicates a distinct contribution of the r- and s-processes to the chemical composition of different Cetus stars. For barium, the r-process contribution varies from 100 % to 20 % in different sample stars, with an average value of 50 %. Our abundance analysis indicates that the star formation in the Cetus progenitor ceased after the onset of the main s-process in low- to intermediate-mass asymptotic giant branch stars but before SNe Ia played an important role. A distinct evolution scenario is revealed by comparing the abundances in the Ursa Minor dwarf spheroidal galaxy, showing the diversity in the chemical evolution of low-mass dwarf galaxies., Comment: 18 pages, accepted for publication in A&A

A new formalism is introduced describe the physical and geometric content of quantum spacetime. It is based in the Minimum Group Representation Principle. New results for entanglement and geometrical/topological phases are found and implemented in cosmological and black hole space-times. Our main results here are: (i) The Berry phases for inflation, for the cosmological perturbations, and its expression in terms of observables, as the spectral scalar and tensor indices, $n_S$ an $n_T$, and their ratio $r$. The Berry phase for de Sitter inflation is imaginary, its sign describing the exponential acceleration. (ii) The pure entangled states in the minimum group (metaplectic) $Mp(n)$ representation for quantum de Sitter space-time and black holes are found. (iii) For entanglement, the relation between the Schmidt type representation and the physical states of the $Mp(n)$ group is found: This is a new non-diagonal coherent state representation complementary to the known Sudarshan diagonal one. (iv) The mean $Mp(2)$ generator values are related to the space-time topological charge. (v) The basic even and odd $n$ -sectors of the Hilbert space are intrinsic to the quantum spacetime and its discrete levels (continuum for $n \rightarrow \infty$) and are it entangled. (vi) The gravity or cosmological domains on one side and another of the Planck scale are entangled. Examples: The primordial quantum trans-Planckian de Sitter vacuum and the late classical gravity de Sitter vacuum today; the central quantum reqion and the external classical region of black holes. The classical and quantum dual gravity regions of the space-time are entangled. We present a method to prepare non-classical states of the electromagnetic field in a microwave resonator. It is based on a controlled gate that applies a squeezing operation on a SQUID-terminated resonator conditioned on the state of a dispersively coupled qubit. This controlled-squeeze gate, when combined with Gaussian operations on the resonator, is universal. We explore the use of this tool to map an arbitrary qubit state into a superposition of squeezed states. In particular, we target a bosonic code with well-defined superparity which makes photon losses detectable by nondemolition parity measurements. We analyze the possibility of implementing this using state-of-the-art circuit QED tools and conclude that it is within reach of current technologies., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures and supplemental material

We demonstrate low energy, forming and compliance-free operation of a resistive memory obtained by the partial oxidation of a two-dimensional layered van-der-Waals semiconductor: hafnium disulfide (HfS$_2$). Semiconductor - oxide heterostructures are achieved by low temperature ($<300^{o}$C) thermal oxidation of HfS$_2$ in dry conditions, carefully controlling process parameters. The resulting HfO$_x$S$_y$/HfS$_2$ heterostructures are integrated between metal contacts, forming vertical crossbar devices. Forming-free, compliance-free resistive switching between non-volatile states is demonstrated by applying voltage pulses and measuring the current response in time. We show non-volatile memory operation with an R$_{ON}$/ R$_{OFF}$ of 102, programmable by 80ns WRITE and ERASE operations. Multiple stable resistance states are achieved by modulating pulse width and amplitude, down to 60ns, $<$ 20pJ operation. This demonstrates the capability of these devices for low - energy, fast-switching and multi-state programming. Resistance states were retained without fail at 150$^o$C over 10$^4$s, showcasing the potential of these devices for long retention times and resilience to ageing. Low-energy resistive switching measurements were repeated in vacuum (8.6 mbar) showing unchanged characteristics and no dependence of the device on surrounding oxygen or water vapour. Using a technology computer-aided design (TCAD) tool, we explore the role of the semiconductor layer in tuning the device conductance and driving gradual resistive switching in 2D HfO$_x$ - based devices.

We report observations of deuterated acetylene (C$_2$HD) at 19.3 $\mu$m (519 cm$^{-1}$) with the Texas Echelon Cross Echelle Spectrograph on the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility in July 2017. Six individual lines from the Q-branch of the $\nu_4$ band were clearly detected with a S/N ratio up to 10. Spectral intervals around 8.0 $\mu$m (745 cm$^{-1}$) and 13.4 $\mu$m (1247 cm$^{-1}$) containing acetylene (C$_2$H$_2$) and methane (CH$_4$) lines respectively, were observed during the same run to constrain the disk-averaged C$_2$H$_2$ abundance profile and temperature profile. Cassini observations with the Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) were used to improve the flux calibration and help to constrain the atmospheric model. The measured D/H ratio in acetylene, derived from the C$_2$HD/C$_2$H$_2$ abundance ratio, is (1.22$^{+0.27}_{-0.21})$ $\times$ 10$^{-4}$, consistent with that in methane obtained in previous studies. Possible sources of fractionation at different steps of the acetylene photochemistry are investigated.

We present weak approximations schemes of any order for the Heston model that are obtained by using the method developed by Alfonsi and Bally (2021). This method consists in combining approximation schemes calculated on different random grids to increase the order of convergence. We apply this method with either the Ninomiya-Victoir scheme (2008) or a second-order scheme that samples exactly the volatility component, and we show rigorously that we can achieve then any order of convergence. We give numerical illustrations on financial examples that validate the theoretical order of convergence, and present also promising numerical results for the multifactor/rough Heston model.

In this work, we studied photon generation due to the Dynamical Casimir Effect (DCE) in a one dimensional (1+1) double superconducting cavity. The cavity consists of two perfectly conducting mirrors and a dielectric membrane of infinitesimal depth that effectively couples two cavities. The total length of the double cavity $L$, the difference in length between the two cavities $\Delta L$, and the electric susceptibility $\chi$ and conductivity $v$ of the dielectric membrane are tunable parameters. All four parameters are treated as independent and are allowed to be tuned at the same time, even with different frequencies. We analyzed the cavity's energy spectra under different conditions, finding a transition between two distinct regimes that is accurately described by $k_c=\sqrt{v/\chi}$. In particular, a lowest energy mode is forbidden in one of the regimes while it is allowed in the other. We compared analytical approximations obtained through the Multiple Scale Analysis method with exact numeric solutions, obtaining the typical results when $\chi$ is not being tuned. However, when the susceptibility $\chi$ is tuned, different behaviours (such as oscillations in the number of photons of a cavity prepared in a vacuum state) might arise if the frequencies and amplitudes of all parameters are adequate. These oscillations can be considered as adiabatic shortcuts where all generated photons are eventually destroyed. For decades, solutions to regional scale landslide prediction have mostly relied on data-driven models, by definition, disconnected from the physics of the failure mechanism. The success and spread of such tools came from the ability to exploit proxy variables rather than explicit geotechnical ones, as the latter are prohibitive to acquire over broad landscapes. Our work implements a Physics Informed Neural Network (PINN) approach, thereby adding to a standard data-driven architecture, an intermediate constraint to solve for the permanent deformation typical of Newmark slope stability methods. This translates into a neural network tasked with explicitly retrieving geotechnical parameters from common proxy variables and then minimize a loss function with respect to the available coseismic landside inventory. The results are very promising, because our model not only produces excellent predictive performance in the form of standard susceptibility output, but in the process, also generates maps of the expected geotechnical properties at a regional scale. Such architecture is therefore framed to tackle coseismic landslide prediction, something that, if confirmed in other studies, could open up towards PINN-based near-real-time predictions.

Several neutrino detectors, KamLAND, Daya Bay, Double Chooz, RENO, and the forthcoming large-scale JUNO, rely on liquid scintillator to detect reactor antineutrino interactions. In this context, inverse beta decay represents the golden channel for antineutrino detection, providing a pair of correlated events, thus a strong experimental signature to distinguish the signal from a variety of backgrounds. However, given the low cross-section of antineutrino interactions, the development of a powerful event selection algorithm becomes imperative to achieve effective discrimination between signal and backgrounds. In this study, we introduce a machine learning (ML) model to achieve this goal: a fully connected neural network as a powerful signal-background discriminator for a large liquid scintillator detector. We demonstrate, using the JUNO detector as an example, that, despite the already high efficiency of a cut-based approach, the presented ML model can further improve the overall event selection efficiency. Moreover, it allows for the retention of signal events at the detector edges that would otherwise be rejected because of the overwhelming amount of background events in that region. We also present the first interpretable analysis of the ML approach for event selection in reactor neutrino experiments. This method provides insights into the decision-making process of the model and offers valuable information for improving and updating traditional event selection approaches.

Deep learning models for plant species identification rely on large annotated datasets. The PlantNet system enables global data collection by allowing users to upload and annotate plant observations, leading to noisy labels due to diverse user skills. Achieving consensus is crucial for training, but the vast scale of collected data makes traditional label aggregation strategies challenging. Existing methods either retain all observations, resulting in noisy training data or selectively keep those with sufficient votes, discarding valuable information. Additionally, as many species are rarely observed, user expertise can not be evaluated as an inter-user agreement: otherwise, botanical experts would have a lower weight in the AI training step than the average user. Our proposed label aggregation strategy aims to cooperatively train plant identification AI models. This strategy estimates user expertise as a trust score per user based on their ability to identify plant species from crowdsourced data. The trust score is recursively estimated from correctly identified species given the current estimated labels. This interpretable score exploits botanical experts' knowledge and the heterogeneity of users. Subsequently, our strategy removes unreliable observations but retains those with limited trusted annotations, unlike other approaches. We evaluate PlantNet's strategy on a released large subset of the PlantNet database focused on European flora, comprising over 6M observations and 800K users. We demonstrate that estimating users' skills based on the diversity of their expertise enhances labeling performance. Our findings emphasize the synergy of human annotation and data filtering in improving AI performance for a refined dataset. We explore incorporating AI-based votes alongside human input. This can further enhance human-AI interactions to detect unreliable observations.

The optical and radiochemical purification of the scintillating liquid, which will fill the central detector of the JUNO experiment, plays a crucial role in achieving its scientific goals. Given its gigantic mass and dimensions and an unprecedented target value of about 3% @ 1 MeV in energy resolution, JUNO has set severe requirements on the parameters of its scintillator, such as attenuation length (Lat>20 m at 430 nm), transparency, light yield, and content of radioactive contaminants (238U,232Th<10-15 g/g). To accomplish these needs, the scintillator will be processed using several purification methods, including distillation in partial vacuum and gas stripping, which are performed in two large scale plants installed at the JUNO site. In this paper, layout, operating principles, and technical aspects which have driven the design and construction of the distil- lation and gas stripping plants are reviewed. The distillation is effective in enhancing the optical properties and removing heavy radio-impurities (238U,232Th, 40K), while the stripping process exploits pure water steam and high-purity nitrogen to extract gaseous contaminants (222Rn, 39Ar, 85Kr, O2) from the scintillator. The plant operating parameters have been tuned during the recent com- missioning phase at the JUNO site and several QA/QC measurements and tests have been performed to evaluate the performances of the plants. Denote by $J_m$ the Jacobian variety of the hyperelliptic curve defined by the affine equation $y^2=x^m+1$ over $\mathbb{Q}$, where $m \geq 3$ is a fixed positive integer. We compute several interesting arithmetic invariants of $J_m$: its decomposition up to isogeny into simple abelian varieties, the minimal field $\mathbb{Q}(\operatorname{End}(J_m))$ over which its endomorphisms are defined, its connected monodromy field $\mathbb{Q}(\varepsilon_{J_m})$, and its Sato-Tate group. Currently, there is no general algorithm that computes these last two invariants. Furthermore, for large enough values of $m$, the abelian varieties $J_m$ provide non-trivial examples of high-dimensional phenomena, such as degeneracy and the non-triviality of the extension $\mathbb{Q}(\varepsilon_{J_m})/\mathbb{Q}(\operatorname{End}(J_m))$. In the field of rare event physics, it is common to have huge masses of organic liquid scintillator as detection medium. In particular, they are widely used to study neutrino properties or astrophysical neutrinos. Thanks to its safety properties (such as low toxicity and high flash point) and easy scalability, linear alkyl benzene is the most common solvent used to produce liquid scintillators for large mass experiments. The knowledge of the refractive index is a pivotal point to understand the detector response, as this quantity (and its wavelength dependence) affects the Cherenkov radiation and photon propagation in the medium. In this paper, we report the measurement of the refractive index of the JUNO liquid scintillator between 260-1064 nm performed with two different methods (an ellipsometer and a refractometer), with a sub percent level precision. In addition, we used an interferometer to measure the group velocity in the JUNO liquid scintillator and verify the expected value derived from the refractive index measurements., Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures

The Large Hadron Collider will soon undergo an upgrade to increase its luminosity by a factor of ~10 [1]. A crucial part of this upgrade will be replacement of the NbTi focusing magnets with Nb3Sn magnets that achieve a ~50% increase in the field strength. This will be the first ever large-scale implementation of Nb3Sn magnets in a particle accelerator. The High-Luminosity LHC Upgrade, HL-LHC is a CERN project with a world-wide collaboration. It is under construction and utilizes Nb3Sn Magnets (named MQXF) as key ingredients to increase tenfold the integrated luminosity delivered to the CMS and ATLAS experiments in the next decade. The HL-LHC AUP is the US effort to contribute approximately 50% of the low-beta focusing magnets and crab cavities for the HL-LHC. This paper will present the program to fabricate the Nb3Sn superconducting magnets. We explore the bound neutrons decay into invisible particles (e.g., $n\rightarrow 3 \nu$ or $nn \rightarrow 2 \nu$) in the JUNO liquid scintillator detector. The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $ n \rightarrow { inv} $ and $ nn \rightarrow { inv} $. The invisible decays of $s$-shell neutrons in $^{12}{\rm C}$ will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $\bar{\nu}_e$, natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $\tau/B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, {\rm yr}$ and $\tau/B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, {\rm yr}$., Comment: 28 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables

We classify the automorphic Lie algebras of equivariant maps from a complex torus to $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$. For each case we compute a basis in a normal form. Oxidation of two-dimensional (2D) layered materials has proven advantageous in creating oxide/2D material heterostructures, opening the door for a new paradigm of low-power electronic devices. Gallium (II) sulfide ($\beta$-GaS), a hexagonal phase group III monochalcogenide, is a wide bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap exceeding 3 eV in single and few layer form. Its oxide, gallium oxide (Ga$_2$O$_3$), combines large bandgap (4.4-5.3 eV) with high dielectric constant (~10). Despite the technological potential of both materials, controlled oxidation of atomically-thin $\beta$-GaS remains under-explored. This study focuses into the controlled oxidation of $\beta$-GaS using oxygen plasma treatment, achieving ultrathin native oxide (GaS$_x$O$_y$, ~4 nm) and GaS$_x$O$_y$/GaS heterostructures where the GaS layer beneath remains intact. By integrating such structures between metal electrodes and applying electric stresses as voltage ramps or pulses, we investigate their use for resistive random-access memory (ReRAM). The ultrathin nature of the produced oxide enables low operation power with energy use as low as 0.22 nJ per operation while maintaining endurance and retention of 350 cycles and 10$^4$ s, respectively. These results show the significant potential of the oxidation-based GaS$_x$O$_y$/GaS heterostructure for electronic applications and, in particular, low-power memory devices.

In this chapter, we illustrate the use of split bulk-tail models and subasymptotic models motivated by extreme-value theory in the context of hazard assessment for earthquake-induced landslides. A spatial joint areal model is presented for modeling both landslides counts and landslide sizes, paying particular attention to extreme landslides, which are the most devastating ones.

Saturn's moon Titan possesses stratospheric zonal winds that places it among a sparse class of planetary bodies known to have superrotation in their atmospheres. Few measurements have been made of these speeds in the upper stratosphere, leaving their seasonal variations still not well understood. We examined observations made with the extended Submillimeter Array (eSMA) in 2009 March (L\textsubscript{s}=355\textdegree{}) and 2010 February (L\textsubscript{s}=5\textdegree{}), shortly before and after Titan's northern spring equinox. Cassini observations and atmospheric models find equinoctial periods to be especially dynamic. Zonal wind calculations, derived from the Doppler frequency shift of CH\textsubscript{3}CN near 349.4 GHz, yielded speeds of 128 $\pm$ 27 m s\textsuperscript{-1} in 2009 and 209 $\pm$ 48 m s\textsuperscript{-1} in 2010. We estimated the measured emission to originate from vertical altitudes of $336^{+112}_{-88}$ kilometers, equivalent to pressures of $3.8^{+19.2}_{-3.4}$ Pa, commensurate with Titan's upper stratosphere/lower mesosphere. This suggests a possible increase in zonal speeds during this period. The MINCE (Measuring at Intermediate metallicity Neutron-Capture Elements) project aims to gather the abundances of neutron-capture elements but also of light elements and iron peak elements in a large sample of giant stars in this metallicity range. T The aim of this work is to study the chemical evolution of galactic sub-components recently identified (i.e. Gaia Sausage Enceladus (GSE), Sequoia). We used high signal-to-noise ratios, high-resolution spectra and standard 1D LTE spectrum synthesis to determine the detailed abundances. We could determine the abundances for up to 10 neutron-capture elements (Sr, Y, Zr, Ba, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and Eu) in 33 stars. The general trends of abundance ratios [n-capture element/Fe] versus [Fe/H] are in agreement with the results found in the literature. When our sample is divided in sub-groups depending on their kinematics, we found that the run of [Sr/Ba] vs [Ba/H] for the stars belonging to the GSE accretion event shows a tight anti-correlation. The results for the Sequoia stars, although based on a very limited sample, shows a [Sr/Ba] systematically higher than the [Sr/Ba] found in the GSE stars at a given [Ba/H] hinting at a different nucleosynthetic history. Stochastic chemical evolution models have been computed to understand the evolution of the GSE chemical composition of Sr and Ba. The first conclusions are that the GSE chemical evolution is similar to the evolution of a dwarf galaxy with galactic winds and inefficient star formation. Detailed abundances of neutron-capture elements have been measured in high-resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra of intermediate metal-poor stars, the metallicity range covered by the MINCE project. We review the derivative expansion (DE) method in Casimir physics, an approach which extends the proximity force approximation (PFA). After introducing and motivating the DE in contexts other than the Casimir effect, we present different examples which correspond to that realm. We focus on different particular geometries, boundary conditions, types of fields, and quantum and thermal fluctuations. Besides providing various examples where the method can be applied, we discuss a concrete example for which the DE cannot be applied; namely, the case of perfect Neumann conditions in 2 + 1 dimensions. By the same example, we show how a more realistic type of boundary condition circumvents the problem. We also comment on the application of the DE to the Casimir-Polder interaction which provides a broader perspective on particle-surface interactions., Comment: 20 pages, 1 figure. The emission of the pre-equilibrium particles during nuclear collisions at moderate beam energies is still an open question. This influences the properties of the compound nucleus but also changes the interpretation of the quasi-fission process. A systematic analysis of the data obtained by the FAZIA collaboration during a recent experiment with a neutron rich projectile is presented. The full range of charged particles detected in the experiment is within the limit of isotopic resolution of the FAZIA detector. Quasi-projectile (QP) fragments were detected in majority thanks to the forward angular acceptance of the experimental setup which was confirmed by introducing cuts based on the HIPSE event generator calculations. The main goal was to compare the experimental results with the HIPSE simulations after introducing these cuts to investigate the influence of the n-rich entrance channel on the QP fragment properties. More specifically, the lowering of N/Z of QP fragments with beam energy was found to be present since the initial phase of the reaction. In order to fulfill the stringent requirements and fast advancements of 5G and beyond applications, it is inevitable to develop research/industrial testbeds to examine the different proposed innovative features of 5G and beyond. In this paper, we propose a testbed including 5G and beyond technologies by combining open-source solutions and our developed Network Services/Functions to enhance the ETSI-NFV MANO framework. Our testbed contains an automation framework to reduce both run time and setup complexity. Inspired by the discovery of metal-organic frameworks, the possibility of quantum anomalous Hall effect (QAHE) in two-dimensional kagome systems with $d$-orbital electrons is studied within a multi-orbital tight-binding model. In the absence of exchange-type spin-orbit coupling, isotropic Slater-Koster integrals give a band structure with relativistic (Dirac) and quadratic band crossing points at high symmetry spots in the Brillouin zone. A quantized topological invariant requires a flux-creating spin-orbit coupling, giving Chern number (per spin sector) $C=1$ not only from the familiar Dirac points at the six corners of the Brillouin zone, but also from the quadratic band crossing point at the center $\Gamma$. Surprisingly, this QAHE comes from the nontrivial effective flux induced by the transverse part of the spin-orbit coupling, exhibited by electrons in the $d$-orbital state with $m_l=0$ ($d_{z^2}$ orbital), in stark contrast to the more familiar form of QAHE due to the $d$-orbitals with $m_l \neq 0$, driven by the Ising part of spin-orbit coupling. The $C=1$ Chern plateau (per spin sector) due to Dirac point extends over a smaller region of Fermi energy than that due to quadratic band crossing. Our result hints at the promising potential of kagome metal-organic frameworks as a platform for dissipationless electronics by virtue of its unique QAHE., Comment: 5 pages main text + 11 pages supplementary materials. The data from the Gaia satellite led us to revise our conception of the Galaxy structure and history. Hitherto unknown components have been discovered and a deep re-thinking of what the Galactic halo is is in progress. We selected from the Gaia catalogue stars with extreme transverse velocities with respect to the Sun ($|V_T| > 500 $ and observed them with FORS2 at the ESO VLT, to classify them using both their chemical and dynamical properties. Two apparently young stars, identified in paper\,I, were observed with UVES. We derived abundances for Na, Mg, Ca, Ti, Mn, and Fe, analysing the spectra with while for Ba we used line profile fitting. We computed actions from parallaxes and kinematical data. The stars span the metallicity range $ Fe/H -0.5$ with $ Fe/H = -1.6$. Star GHS143 has a total speed of about 1440 which is almost three times faster than the local escape velocity of 522 strongly implying this star is unbound to the Galaxy. Remarkably, this star is not escaping from the Galaxy, but it is falling into it. Ten stars are apparently young with masses in excess of 1.3M. Their interpretation as evolved blue stragglers is doubtful. The existence of a young metal-poor population is possible. The two stars observed with UVES show no lithium, suggesting they are blue stragglers. We detected a metal-poor population, confined to the bulge, that we call SpiteF, and argue that it is the result of a recent accretion event. We detect 102 candidates of the Aurora population that should have formed prior to the formation of the disc. Our sample is non-homogeneous and mainly retrograde. The stars are metal poor, and 23 have Fe/H -2.0$. Our selection is efficient at finding very metal-poor stars, but it selects peculiar populations., Comment: Astronomy and Astrophysics - In press

A detailed knowledge of the decay properties of the so called Hoyle state in the $^{12}$C nucleus ($E_x=7.654$ MeV, $0^+$) is required to calculate the rate at which carbon is forged in typical red-giant stars. This paper reports on a new almost background-free measurement of the radiative decay branching ratio of the Hoyle state using advanced charged particle coincidence techniques. The exploitation, for the first time in a similar experiment, of a bidimensional map of the coincidence efficiency allows to reach an unitary value and, consequently, to strongly reduce sources of systematic uncertainties. The present results suggest a value of the radiative branching ratio of $\Gamma_{rad}/\Gamma_{tot}=4.2(6)\cdot10^{-4}$. This finding helps to resolve the tension between recent data published in the literature.

The most adopted definition of landslide hazard combines spatial information about landslide location (susceptibility), threat (intensity), and frequency (return period). Only the first two elements are usually considered and estimated when working over vast areas. Even then, separate models constitute the standard, with frequency being rarely investigated. Frequency and intensity are intertwined and depend on each other because larger events occur less frequently and vice versa. However, due to the lack of multi-temporal inventories and joint statistical models, modelling such properties via a unified hazard model has always been challenging and has yet to be attempted. Here, we develop a unified model to estimate landslide hazard at the slope unit level to address such gaps. We employed deep learning, combined with a model motivated by extreme-value theory to analyse an inventory of 30 years of observed rainfall-triggered landslides in Nepal and assess landslide hazard for multiple return periods. We also use our model to further explore landslide hazard for the same return periods under different climate change scenarios up to the end of the century. Our results show that the proposed model performs excellently and can be used to model landslide hazard in a unified manner. Geomorphologically, we find that under both climate change scenarios (SSP245 and SSP885), landslide hazard is likely to increase up to two times on average in the lower Himalayan regions while remaining the same in the middle Himalayan region whilst decreasing slightly in the upper Himalayan region areas.

Superconducting circuits reveal themselves as promising physical devices with multiple uses. Within those uses, the fundamental concept of the geometric phase accumulated by the state of a system shows up recurrently, as, for example, in the construction of geometric gates. Given this framework, we study the geometric phases acquired by a paradigmatic setup: a transmon coupled to a superconductor resonating cavity. We do so both for the case in which the evolution is unitary and when it is subjected to dissipative effects. These models offer a comprehensive quantum description of an anharmonic system interacting with a single mode of the electromagnetic field within a perfect or dissipative cavity, respectively. In the dissipative model, the non-unitary effects arise from dephasing, relaxation, and decay of the transmon coupled to its environment. Our approach enables a comparison of the geometric phases obtained in these models, leading to a thorough understanding of the corrections introduced by the presence of the environment., Comment: 12 pages, 11 figures

We show that, as in the case of the principle of minimum action in classical and quantum mechanics, there exists an even more general principle in the very fundamental structure of {\it quantum space-time}: This is the principle of {\it minimal group representation} that allows to consistently and simultaneously obtain a natural description of the spacetime dynamics and the physical states admissible in it. The theoretical construction is based on the physical states, average values of the Metaplectic group $Mp(n)$ generators: the double covering of $SL(2C)$ in a vector representation, with respect to the {\it coherent states} carrying the spin weight. Our main results here are: (i) A connection between the Metaplectic symmetry generators and the physical state dynamics. (ii) The ground states are coherent states, of Perelomov-Klauder type of the Metaplectic group dividing the Hilbert space into {\it even} and {\it odd} states. (iii) The physical states have spin contents $s = 0,\; 1/2, \;1,\; 3/2$ and $2$. (iv) The generators introduce a natural supersymmetry and a superspace whose line element is the geometrical Lagrangian of our model. (v) A coherent physical state of spin 2 is obtained naturally related to the metric tensor. (vi) This is {\it naturally discretized} by the discrete series in the $n$ number representation, reaching the classical (continuous) space-time for $n$ $\rightarrow\infty$. (vii) A relation emerges between the coherent state metric eigenvalue $\alpha$ and the black hole entropy through the Planck length.
