The objectives of the study are to examine the logistics activities of Thai cut flower orchid exporters to Vietnam and evaluate their logistics performance across nine logistical operations in three dimensions: cost, time, and reliability. Identifying issues in improving the logistics efficiency of exporters is the key to gaining a competitive edge in exporting. Thai orchid exporters to Vietnam were interviewed in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Sakhon provinces, Thailand’s main orchid production regions, using semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions. Quantitative and logistics management data were collected using the Agricultural Logistics Performance Index (ALPI), which evaluated nine logistics activities in three dimensions. Qualitative data were obtained from conceptual framework inquiries. Inductive analysis was used to study qualitative data, whereas percentages and averages were used to analyse quantitative data. According to the report, exporters performed six logistics tasks but ignored demand forecasting. Furthermore, site selection, warehousing and storage, and reverse logistics were absent. Exporter logistics performance averaged 94.98, with purchasing and procurement performing best at 98.05. Transportation, with an average performance of 90.84, needed the most optimisation. This research is a case study on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), exploring multimodal logistics, which involves transporting cargo using multiple modes of transportation, and investigating its challenges and opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022. Through a mixed-method approach of qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys, this study examines factors influencing multimodal cargo transport and its performance. Five senior executives from the logistics industry were interviewed to identify key variables, and a questionnaire was administered to 120 participants to assess the impact on shipping costs and utilization. This study reveals a significant relationship between geographical and geopolitical risks and increased shipping costs in certain regions, highlighting the need for secure and cost-effective multimodal solutions in these areas. However, shipping costs did not mediate the performance of intermodal transportation at transit hubs during the pandemic. The findings offer valuable insights for transit hubs to enhance the utilization of multimodal cargo transport during uncertain times, ultimately leading to improved logistics performance in similar hub countries. This study's originality lies in its investigation of the resilience and sustainability dimensions in multimodal logistics during the pandemic, proposing mitigation strategies and enhancing strategic decision making in the logistics industry under volatile business environments. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the logistics performances, financial performances, and stock prices of the companies listed in the Borsa Istanbul Transportation and Storage Sector. Therefore, the logistic performances and financial performances of the companies included in the study were calculated using the performance measurement methods based on the ratios using the financial statement data between 2012 and 2021. The Financial Statement data of the companies were obtained from the Public Disclosure Platform. In the study, the correlation between the logistics performances, financial performances, and stock prices of the companies and the measure of the correlation between the variables were examined using the panel data regression analysis. The results of the analysis revealed that the logistics performance of the companies positively affected their financial performance, and the predicted correlation coefficient was statistically significant. Similarly, the financial performance of the companies was found to positively affect their stock prices and the predicted correlation coefficient was found to be statistically significant. The New Makassar Container Port serves as logistics hub that impacts local economic growth and facilitates the distribution of goods between regions. To optimise port operations, it is crucial to establish connections with the hinterland area. Terminal II is designed to handle the flow of containers. According to the current stage of development, the existing capacity and facilities should be able to handle a larger volume of containers. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the logistics system through time and service performance indicators. The research method involves both qualitative and quantitative approaches, with freight forwarders and shipping companies as the sample population. The analysis involves a descriptive analysis of the logistics system and an Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) to assess performance and satisfaction of service users. The Potential Gain in Customer Value (PGCV) method was used to determine priority areas for improvement. The results show that Terminal II of the New Makassar Container Port performs well and meets the standards set by the Director General of Sea Transportation. However, international shipping services have not been fully utilized, contributing to low container flow and underutilization of the installed capacity. Additionally, export activities remain heavily reliant on commodities instead of industrial goods. The IPA and PGCV analyses revealed that the priority areas of improvement include sustainable and customer-oriented operating processes, with a conformity rate of 79% and the highest PGCV value of 6.22. Regular evaluations of both the physical and human aspects of port operations are necessary.

With zero hunger in the heart of the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO), FAO's end goal is to ensure that all people always have physical and economic access to sufficient and nutritious food. However, the number of hungry people in the world can be considered as relatively high and the path to reach the level called "enough" food or "perfect" food security still has a long way to go. Considering the complicated nature of food security, this study aims to investigate the impact of logistic performance on food security in 51 developing countries covering the period 2010–2016, under 4 unique dimensions of food security. Applying the generalized method of moments (GMM), the results provide supportive evidence that the level of food security tends to be improving in countries with a higher level of logistic performance. Similarly, it is observed that every dimension of food security, namely food availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability, can be improved with better logistics. Therefore, the overall result suggests that policymakers should improve the level of logistic performance, which is generally far below that in developed countries, so that it can form the fundamental ground toward alleviating hunger and improving the food supply. The present study examines the impact of energy intensity on the relationship between logistic performance and environmental pollution in 45 countries supporting the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project proposed to revitalize the historical Silk Road for the period between 2007 and 2018 by means of Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) analysis using the energy intensity as the threshold. The analysis results indicated that the relationship between logistics performance and environmental pollution is not linear, and energy intensity level has an important role in this relationship. The energy intensity threshold level was estimated as 3.228% and 4.432% in low and high energy intensity countries, respectively. When the energy intensity level is below the threshold in both low and high energy intensity countries, increase in logistics performance reduces environmental pollution. However, when it is above the threshold, a rise in logistics performance increases environmental pollution. In this context, reducing energy intensity is deemed helpful for the establishment of a favorable environment for logistic performance and environmental factors in the long term, leading to the reduction of environmental pollution. This study aims to provide business actors with a deeper understanding of the impact of halal certification on company performance by analyzing the effect of halal certification on logistic performance and financial performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based on processed meat and cowhide in Surakarta. This study is based on a purposive sampling survey of SMEs producing processed meat and cowhide in Surakarta that has obtained halal certification. The PLS-SEM method was used to process the data. This research shows that halal certification has a good and significant impact on the logistical and financial performance of SMEs producing processed meat and cowhide in Surakarta. This founding indicates that halal certification has an impact and may be considered by business actors who have yet to go through the process.

In parallel with the increase in competition in international trade, the importance of the logistics sector, which plays an important role in the continuity of our commercial life, is increasing gradually, so the number of studies on logistics performance and trade is increasing day by day. The study aims to systematically examine the studies based on the relationship between logistics performance and international trade, evaluate the situation, and make suggestions to researchers who will work on the subject in the future. In the study, 33 articles that were reached as a result of scanning the Web of Science and Scopus databases were systematically examined in terms of various criteria. According to the findings obtained; In the studies, it was determined that mostly the effect of logistics performance on trade was discussed and this effect was generally measured with the gravity model, and the logistics performance index was frequently used in logistics performance measurement. In addition, it is noteworthy that the number of product and sector based studies are quite limited. Logistic performance has been improved tremendously in many parts of the world. Nonetheless, its improvement does not necessarily guarantee that environmental quality can be preserved. Hence, it is the objective of this study to examine the effect of logistic improvement on environmental degradation in developing countries. Applying dynamic panel model estimator for a panel of 50 developing countries for the period between 2010 and 2016, this study observes that the level of pollution tends to be higher with a higher level of logistic performance. The findings show that developing countries that did not adopt green practices on logistic performance pose negative effects in terms of air pollution, climate change, and global warming. Thus, the efforts to reduce environmental degradation must be comprehensive enough and the priority of environmental policies should be in the first place, targeting logistic performance. In other words, performance measure of logistic should also take into account its contribution to environmental quality.

The research to understand variable influence economic and social variables which include investment, port infrastructure, and labour on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in ASEAN countries. The decider of the sample is based on Crossection and Time series data of eight countries in ASEAN on the 2015-2018 period. Source of research data were obtained from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF). This study uses panel data analysis method with a fixed-effect model. Based on the results of the partial test (t-test), the investment variable showed a positive effect on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI). While for Labor and Economic Stability are negative effects on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI). And port infrastructure is no effect on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI). Also, based on simultaneous results (F-Test) indicates investment, port infrastructure, labour and economic stability have a significant effect on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in ASEAN countries on 2015-2018.

The logistics sector is nowadays known as one of the main pillars of economic development since it is the logistic performance that can have a knock-on effect on economic growth and competitiveness in both international and domestic trade. According to policy makers, implementing coherent and sustainable policies to integrate the supply chain is vital to ignite growth and development not only in economically prosperous countries but also in emerging economies. Economically underprivileged countries are normally those that suffer high costs in the logistics sector owing not only to transportation rates but also to unreliable supply chains that can hamper convergent and competitive functioning in the global value chain. Having realized the vitality of logistics sector, the present descriptive correlational survey aimed at investigating the effect of key components that can have a bearing on improved logistics performance in Post industry. To serve the purpose, a conceptual model of key components, along with five main hypotheses, was proposed based on a thorough literature review and consultation with experts in the post industry. The research population comprised all experts, managers and staff of the Islamic Republic of Iran Post Company from whom a sample of 402 was selected based on the Cochran formula. The collected data were analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling. The findings emerging from the study revealed that all components including knowledge management, human resources organization management, internal and external factors had positive and significant effects on the performance of logistics sector in the post industry. It is suggested that reinforcing the specified components and employment of the designed pattern can help the post industry to take a major step towards improving its logistic performance.

Increasing customers´ requirements together with the current trend of digitization in the spirit of Industry 4.0 puts pressure on manufacturing companies to increase both the flexibility and the performance of their manufacturing and logistic processes. This work presents the challenges in the introduction of AGV (Automatically Guided Vehicles) technology in production lines through two case studies from two different countries, Portugal and the Czech Republic. Both companies are from the automotive industry. Case study research aims to explore and understand complex phenomena. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the limitations and necessary conditions that must be considered when implementing AGV technology for automating selected logistic processes. Based on the data collected through multiple observations, a three-phase methodology considering technological, organizational and safety aspects is proposed as the main output. The basic scheme also includes the proposal of some critical success factors and key performance indicators that should be monitored in order to evaluate the efficiency of implementing this technology in future projects.

This work verified how political stability and costs in the provision of services impact on logistical performance and if it interferes with the economic and socio-cultural factors of the countries. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) was used to analyze the data, with a sample of 162 countries considered from 2005 to 2018. The results indicate that political and cost factors directly interfere in the countries' logistical performance. It was also found that the good performance of the logistics service providers contributes to an improvement in the economic and socio-cultural factors of the countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Goal: The purpose of this article is to encourage discussion on the basic structuring of a logistics performance assessment system, as well as the challenges and opportunities identified in the development and implementation of new proposals. Design / Methodology / Approach: A systematic literature review was adopted as a research strategy, based on a protocol adapted to the theme of this research. The bases searched were Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo and Science Direct. Results: It was possible to identify a basic structure for the elaboration of a logistic performance evaluation system. In addition, a number of opportunities for developing the theme were observed, as well as the respective challenges to be overcome. Limitations of the investigation: One of the limitations found was that the databases chosen did not always have articles available in their entirety, five of them were not available. Practical implications: It is believed that this research can serve as a reference for researchers who are interested in proposing performance evaluation systems in the context of logistics, contributing to an initial understanding of its structure and highlighting the possible implementation challenges. Originality / Value: According to the bases surveyed, this is the first survey that sought to identify the structure of the logistic performance assessment systems with a focus on business logistics.

Logistics performance is an important determinant of economic growth. The present study investigates the moderating role of logistics performance of the logistic infrastructure on economic growth in developing countries. We employ the World Bank computed LPI index in the year 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 to measure the logistic performance. The current research includes the 50 developing economies, and a panel data set comprising of total 300 observations is collected. The study used the conventional Cobb–Douglas production function with labor, capital stock as main drivers of economic growth. The study found that the labor and capital endowments have significantly different impacts in terms of elasticity coefficients for developing countries with different logistics performance levels. It implies that logistics performance, i.e., the efficient performance of logistic infrastructure, plays a moderator role in economic growth in developing economies.

The organization can fully benefit from efforts to improve quality through programs such as total quality management. Just-in-time and total quality management combine to support the successful implementation of agile manufacturing programs which, in turn, result in the organization’s ability to respond rapidly and aggressively to changes in customer demand. We contend that adoption of a market orientation combined with just in time, total quality management, and agile manufacturing programs leads to organizational capabilities of relatively low cost operation, high quality product and service production, and rapid response to changes in customer needs and demand. While studies on total quality management implementation appear to focus on identifying the role of total quality management practices on organizational success, total quality management practices are still directed from within the organization. Market orientation, however, requires more external engagement and shares the same ultimate aim as total quality management implementations.

This paper presents a theoretical conceptual model for creating performance through logistics performance, customer satisfaction and financial performance for a whole supply chain. The problem for both practitioners and researchers is that supply chain performance is difficult to measure. This study incorporates an established measure of logistics performance as a surrogate for supply chain performance. Logistics is clearly a supply chain function in that it links manufacturers and cus - tomers although those customers may not be the ultimate customers in the supply chain. Furthermore, in the context of logistics performance, customer satisfaction is a key construct, as it provides marketers and business owners with a metric that they can use to manage and improve their businesses. The challenges that logistics faces in the retail industry must be investigated in the context of the specific retail sector as well as the degree of development of the retail market. The research focus in this paper is on logistic processes in supermarket supply. The aim is to deepen the understanding of logistic processes and then to investigate the possibilities of their enhancement by applying radio frequency identification (RFID) as a higher level of information technology for product identification in retail supply chains. The research was conducted in one of the top ten trade companies in the emerging Serbian market. Simulation modelling was performed for one supply chain category, followed by quantification of time and cost performance of the current logistic processes (AS-IS model). Then, in accordance with the capabilities of RFID system, improvements are proposed and integrated into a new simulation model (TO-BE model). The obtained results can be utilised as part of a broader research when deciding on the implementation of modern information technologies in supply chains.

The global logistics industry has grown significantly and logistics has become an important sector of the business economic system and a major global economic activity in recent years. Logistics activities accelerate economic and productivity growth. Efficient logistics is also important to a country’s competitiveness and source of employment. The purpose of this paper is to uncover and understand the major determinants of logistics performance (LP) to further lift the LP of countries. Using unbalanced panel data of 93 selected countries from 2007 to 2014, the present research attempts to critically investigate the major determinants of LP. In estimating the model, this study prefers to use static panel data approach owing to limited data. The findings of the present study reveal that (a) countries with low level of corruption and stable political environment are likely to yield a high level of LP; (b) improvement in resources supply such as infrastructure, technology, labour, and education also have a significant positive effect on LP. The current competitive landscape for organizations, particularly those competing in highly competitive markets, and with potential competitors worldwide, demands that companies' business practices be constantly evaluated. In this context the topic of logistics become highly important. This study analyzed the Degree of Logistic Maturity and its relation with the Logistic Performance of companies in the textile and clothing sectors of the Vale do Itajaí Region - SC. It is a descriptive research, with the application of questionnaires, the approach and nature of the data being quantitative. The results of the research showed that companies are mature in relation to their logistic practices, especially in relation to the attributes Strategy, Measurement and Agility. When verifying the relationship between the logistic maturity level and the logistic performance of the companies, obtained through Linear Regression Analysis, it was verified that only one dimension (Action) of the 17 that make up the Logistic Maturity Model (MML), exerts influence on Logistics Performance. The limitations of this study are related to the size of the sample and the perception of the managers about the logistics processes. The application of logistic maturity analysis models assists the managers in the definition of parameters that will serve as the basis for the decision making and in the execution of the actions that can effectively result in higher performance. Este artigo visa conhecer o estado de colaboração em logística entre indústrias fornecedoras e redes de supermercados do Brasil, por meio do estudo da relação entre os elementos de colaboração e os elementos de desempenho logístico e de custos de transação identificados na relação de parceria. A metodologia é composta por uma análise qualitativa (por meio de observação participativa) e quantitativa, composta por uma amostra de 125 representantes dos fornecedores de 87 fabricantes de bens de consumo. Foram avaliadas as quatro maiores redes supermercadistas atuantes no país. Por meio de testes estatísticos e modelos de regressão, os resultados mostraram que alguns elementos de colaboração influenciam positivamente o desempenho logístico dos fornecedores, principalmente tratando-se de desempenho logístico diferenciado (entregas urgentes e em períodos de demanda alta). A integração interpessoal é a que mais contribui para a maior intensidade de colaboração, seguida da integração estratégica e integração tática. A maior intensidade de integração estratégica e de ações conjuntas (relacionadas aos elementos de integração tática) contribui para a diminuição de incertezas entre os participantes e essas ações conjuntas contribuem para o aumento do investimento em ativos específicos.This paper aims to ascertain the current state of collaborative logistics in the Brazilian supermarket retail chain through two quantitative studies: one concerning collaboration elements and logistics performance, and the other quantitative study focusing on collaboration elements and transaction costs. All of these elements are identified among the partners. The methodology consists of a qualitative analysis (using participative observations) and a quantitative analysis consisting of 125 representatives from 87 suppliers who evaluated Brazil's four largest retailers. From statistical tests and regression analysis, the results confirmed that some collaborative elements positively influence the logistics performance of the firms, mainly when it concerns a differentiated logistic performance (urgent deliveries and deliveries in periods of high demand). Interpersonal integration contributes most to a higher intensity of collaboration, followed by strategic integration and tactical integration. Moreover, the increase in strategic collaboration and joint actions (tactical integration elements) contributes to the reduction in uncertainties between the participants and these joint actions also help to increase investment in specific assets.

Neste estudo, buscou-se aplicar o modelo de avaliação do desempenho logístico de cadeias produtivas (ADELCAP), baseado nos tempos dos elementos do ciclo operacional do transporte de madeira de áreas de fomento de uma empresa produtora de celulose do Estado do Espírito Santo, objetivando apontar meios de otimizar os recursos físicos para garantir um fluxo de abastecimento ininterrupto e apropriado volume de entrada de madeira nos depósitos regionais. O ciclo operacional de transporte de madeira é ordenado pelas atividades de carregamento de madeira no campo, viagem carregada, descarregamento no depósito e viagem vazia. Utilizou-se a Rede de Petri Temporal, por trabalhar com dois tempos duração de sensibilização. Realizaram-se simulações com os softwares JARP e ARP, a fim de simular, analisar e avaliar o desempenho operacional. As variações empregadas em cada cenário se devem à qualidade da estrada, sob as condições atuais quanto à geometria vertical e horizontal e ao quociente de irregularidade, em cada depósito para os diferentes tipos de veículo e forma de carregamento da madeira adotado. Nas regiões de topografia acidentada, a melhoria das estradas alterando seu nível de qualidade tem maior influência para o aumento do desempenho dos veículos, e os veículos 4x2 e 6x2 apresentaram os melhores resultados. Nas regiões de planícies, a escolha do veículo tem maior influência no aumento do desempenho do transporte, já que a topografia e qualidade das estradas atuais já contribuem para isso. Nesses casos, a relação tonelada transportada por distância e tempo será maior para os veículos com capacidade de carga líquida maior.This study aimed at applying the model of logistic performance evaluation of productive chains (ADELCAP), based on the times of the elements of the operational cycle of wood transport from areas of fomentation of a cellulose producing company in the State of Espírito Santo, to indicate means of optimizing physical resources, guaranteeing a flow of uninterrupted provisioning and appropriate volume of wood entrance in the regional deposits. The operational cycle of wood transport is organized by the activities of wood loading in the field, wood hauling, wood unloading in the deposit and unhauling. The Temporal Petri Net was used, because it works with two times - sensitization duration. Simulations were carried out with the ARP and ARP software systems, in order to simulate, analyze and evaluate the operational performance. The variations employed in each scenery are due to the quality of the highway, under the current conditions, as for the vertical and horizontal geometry and the irregularity quotient, in each deposit, for the different types of vehicle and form of the adopted wood loading. In the areas of uneven topography, the improvement of the highways altering their quality level has a higher influence for the increase in the performance of the vehicles, and Toco and Truck presented better results. In the areas of plains, the choice of the vehicle has a higher influence in the increase of the performance of the transport, since the topography and the quality of the current highways already contribute to the performance. In these cases, the relation between transported ton and distance and time will be higher for the vehicles with higher capacity of liquid load.
